Zen MicroPhoto connection problem/file transfer prob

My wife had a Zen MicroPhoto player that she used for audiobooks. About a month ago it started having "no device found" problems with the Media Explorer. She bought a new player, and it's no better. The Media Explorer will not install. I tried installing it separately, and the installation hangs, because it cannot find the player. She is using the Organizer now to transfer files, but she much prefers the Explorer. Many of the audiobook discs have the same file names (e.g., Track , Track 2, Track 3,....,etc.). When that happens, with the second and subsequent disks, she gets a message asking whether to replace or skip the duplicate files; the file names are the same, but the disks have different album names. Is there a workaround for this?

I thought Creative's customer support was bad, but this "discussion forum" sucks big time -- not a single reply. Thanks....

  • ZEN MICROPHOTO connection problem, he

Hey guys, well my battery died so i recharge it. The computer did nothing for its charge. Anyways, i went to update the firmware that didn't work, now its stuck with nothing...
The computer recognizes the player when its plugged in only by the windows thing that pops up.
The creative software says the player is not connected.
Firmware update claims its not connected
The player is stuck in recovery mode, all options work but they do me no good.
When turned on it goes to the creative screen then normally it'll go to a MicroPhoto logo thing, now it just all scrambled pixels! I've had nothing but trouble with this thing and i have done nothing to it but plug it in the computer to charge and put new music on, seems like everytime the battery dies I fear the player will screw up. Anyone help me out, i use this all day at work and now i cant!

Uninstall it. It will roll back to WMP 0. has a problem when it comes to updating firmware. Make sure you uninstall WMP and the WMP Runtime Format. It might be necessary to re install WMP 0 afterwards. If all fails do a System Restore to before WMP was installed.

  • Zen goes blank during file transfer

i own a Zen 32GB flash player, and recently it has been going blank and forcing me to reset when i try to transfer files using the mediasource organizer. it connects fine, is recognized, and i can ever browse it, but when i try to transfer files the player goes from a "docked" screen to a blank one, the organizer reports an error, and i have to reset the player. this occurs with different files, so the cause isn't a faulty file. i am running the most recent version of MSO, and the latest drivers and firmware. OS is XP?sp2.
recovery mode cleanup also didn't help, and since the transfer rate is very slow i rather avoid formatting if i can.
has anyone experienced the same problem? any help would be appreciated.

'Re: Zen goes blank during file transfer. I have also experienced this same problem. I am currently using Windows 7 RC with Windows Media Player 2, but it was previously happening when running Windows XP SP3 with WMP.
I have actually had my player replaced already since I had this same problem on my previous player. That started occurring after having had the player for around 4 months. On first occurring a reset and clean up from the recovery mode was enough to get it going again, at least for a week or so. It then started occurring more frequently and I was forced to format the device. Again this seemed to fix the problem initially, but after just a few days it got to the point where even that wouldn't get it working again, at which point I sent it back and received a new device.
I've now had my replacement device for only a few weeks and it's started to happen again. I haven't yet resorted to a format, but a cleanup isn't working.
From my observation it seems to be in some way related to general power issues with the device. When the problem occurs the screen goes off and the player isn't recognised by the PC, but the power light on the side of the device remains lit orange, so it hasn't actually turned off. I've also had ongoing problems, on both devices, where I often can't turn the player back on after either I've turned it off or it's gone through the auto power down after leaving it on pause. In that case I also have to reset the device via the side button, and then wait a few minutes for the library to rebuild.
I too would appreciate hearing from anyone who might be able to provide some help with this problem, because my initial workarounds as described only work for a short period of time and I would prefer not to have to send it back a second time.

  • Zen Microphoto Pixel Problems (Red Li

OK, so I have a BRAND NEW Zen Microphoto and ever since I first turned the thing on I have this RED LINE (about pixel wide) running vertically down the middle of my screen. It's like you can still see what's there behind it if you look closely.
I actually had gotten it go away for a little while, and it has come back and has been there since. So I don't believe there is damage to the actual OLED screen, but who knows I'm no professional here!!
Other than the annoying line the player seems to be working fine.. but like I said, its ANNOYING.
I have tried a few things to fix it.. I've formatted it and rebooted it from Recovery Mode.. I've TRIED to update the firmware, but I can't seem to get the Firware Update to connect to my Microphoto. Windows, Windows Media Player, and Creative MediaSource Organizer reads it being there.. yet NOT the Firmware Update. Actually I THINK I got WIndows to update the Firmware for me or something because accorinding to my Microphoto it already has that version on there?
If anyone has any suggestions, or heard of this happening PLEASE let me know. I'm not really sure what to do at this point. I looked all over the place to find one, and when I finally did I'm having problems with it!
    Thanks!

I am having the exact same problem with my Zen Microphoto. There is a vertical red line in the display. It appears to be pixel in width extending the height of the screen, top to bottom. EXTREMELY annoying!
What is Creative's policy to fixing this?

  • 8900 to imac bluetooth connection for file transfer

Hello,  I  have a brand new curve 8900 javelin and a new IMAC.  Both devices can see each other and I can manage to get a green connection light however it only lasts a few seconds and then disconnects.  Can someone please tell me how to overcome this problem?
    thank you

That's really weird, the different ways that the providers cripple the same phone. I do not need any plug-in for BT iSync but I can't do file transfer with BT or with USB (I do have a microSD card installed). Unfortunately, I have no use for iSync. I can also use the phone to provide Internet access for my Mac but the Mac is a desktop and a hardwired connection makes more sense.
The USB connection is really frustrating. Profiler knows that the phone is present and the phone knows that the Mac is present (the battery does charge) but otherwise it's as if it's not even connected.
I am able to put the card into a card reader and transfer files that way. I don't mind all that much but it's not easy getting the card out of the phone.
By the way, there are several RAZR versions. Is your "V3XX" the same phone as my "V3m?"

Software cannot fix a hardware problem. The hardri've or motherboard is bad in you player.

  • Zen Microphoto: connection probl

My new Zen Microphoto was connecting to my winXP SP2 machine just fine (no drivers needed) until today, when i decided I would install creative mediasource (newest version from the website). As soon as the install started up, it told me my player wasn't detected, and then since then, I haven't been able to get either of my computers to recognize the player. I'm now thinking: this is a player problem, right? So I formatted. No go. Then i hit "reload firmware" from the recovery screen and it says something like reload firmware using usb. My computer still says it's an unknown USB device. What am I supposed to do now?

Ouch. Reload firmware was a bad thing to choose as it actually deletes the firmware on the player (Creative REALLY need to rename this option).
Now you need to find a firmware for the player, and make sure it's detected by XP properly to reload. You'll need to use reload OS again to prepare the player.
If you can't find a firmware in the download section, which is entirely possible as the player is very new, you'll need to contact Creative support to get one.

  • Zen MicroPhoto software-problem (win2k-suppor

today I bought the ZMP cuz I was faszinated about it.
    I use win2k (newest SP's).
The instalation of zen's software doesn't work. At the shop they said I need some software -update and it'll do, but I searched almost the whole web without any result (am I the only one with win2k and the Zen microphoto?). I don't want to upload pictures and I don't wan't any special features (till now). I just wan't to put some fine music onto my fine ZMP without buying winXP.
Can anyone help me solving this problem?

^you need to check out [url="http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=3044">this thread[/url] and download the legacy drivers.
The Zen MicroPhoto is a MTP device and is designed to work with Win XP with SP or 2 installed and Windows Media Player 0.
If you want to use another OS, you need to d/l the legacy drivers.

  • Hanging network connection during file transfer

    Hi,
Often, when I try to copy large files (1+ GB) through the network from my PowerMac G5 to my Mac Mini (PPC) the file transfer hangs after a short time.
The network is wired. G5 and network hub are Gigabit, the Mac Mini is Megabit.
When hanging I have to force quit the Finder and reboot the G5. I don't have to reboot the Mac Mini.
Any ideas why these transfers keep hanging?
    Thanks!
    Maarten

It depends how quick the laptop can write the data to disk/storage too.

  • Zen Micro connection problems with media explorer (my soluti

    Hi all,
just wanted to share you my sollution to the connection probs with my Zen Micro. I have installed the MTP version of the firmware and found out it did connected to my machien (media player sync works) however media explorer was not able to install properly (it could not detect the device during install).
I found out that if I closed Acti'vesync (so it is not using the USB probing) it could detect the Zen Micro during install and media explorer installed properly. After this it only detects the zen micro whenever Acti'vesync is not syncing with my PPC or smartphone.
So therefore my sollution to this problem. Make sure Acti'veSync is not connected with a device thorugh USB.

What is "Acti'veSync?" I have installed the firmware and NapsterToGo and WMP recognize my Zen Micro but Zen Explorer does not. Maybe this will work for me. I didn't install CreativeMediaSource.

  • Creative Zen 32GB - connection problem with 2nd PC

    Can anyone help?
Have had my ZEN for 2 years now & (touch wood) it's still going well.
I want to be able to upload music from my laptop when I'm away so I installed the software & registered it without any problem. However my laptop can't detect the device.
My ZEN has just connected quite happily with my main PC so it can't be the devce. Is there a restriction against using the same device on two different computers? If not why can't my laptop detect the device?
O/S Windows XP SP3 on both computers.
    Thanks

    Many thanks for your response.
I have tried connecting using another USB without any success.
I think my lap top should be powerful enough - it has a 5 inch screen and I can connect my Philips 32GB GoGear without any problem.
(My Philips is my back-up in case anything goes wrong with my ZEN but I don't like it as much )

  • Zen Micro installation problem - file "data2.cab" neede

    Hey
Trying to install my Zen micro software when it says, " Please insert dist that contains the file data2.cab"
I have the installation CD so why is file not on it'sDan

It might be a problem with the CD, but it sounds an odd error to get.
You can of course download the latest drivers and software from the download page for your player, so this is probably the best workaround as well as getting the latest software.

  • Strange file transfer prob

We have two Creative units, a Muvo and a Zen. Using the Creative Library software we can download (totally legal) music to the Zen but the Muvo gives error messages about insufficient information to transfer files. Some files have gone over easily and the Muvo appears to have plenty of spare space. Any ideas please?

Just today I got the following error:
"There is not enough disk space at the destination for this transfer."
I attempted to select all of the music files on my NOMAD to transfer to a new empty folder on my HDD. I used the options within MediaSource to create a new PC library. Then proceeded to initiate the transfer when the error message occurred.
If I select less than 300 hundred songs the transfer works, but selecting several thousand songs fails.
I have over 00Gb of space on the HDD when I was attempting to transfer all of my music from my NOMAD Zen Xtra 30Gb.
I use WinXP Professional with all known updates.
My HDD uses the NTFS file system.
I also use a RAID array comprised of two 250Gb Western Digital RAID edition Caviar SATA dri'ves.
I am using Creative MediaSource 3.30.2
My NOMAD Zen Xtra uses firmware .03.02

  • Time capsule -connecting, backup, file transfer

    hello,
i am very new to time capsule, and have the following issue i would like to get solved/understand:
    1. when i want to access my time capsule disk through the normal finder window, clicking on the time capsule icon to the left, it appears that finder tries to connect, but then i get a connection failed message. only when i access it through go>connect to server> etc, it appears as a disk. Now I would like to know, if the connection established that way (through connect to server) is actually connecting via internet, instead of using the direct wireless connection to the disk (I'm sitting right next to my time capsule)?? In the case it is using the internet to connect my time capsule, for sure my connection to the disk should speed up, as soon as i get the connection through wireless, isn't it? For the rest everything works just fine, internet connection wirelessly with airport, etc.
    2. I am transferring data from an old backup disk to my new timecapsule. i have this old disk connected to mac my through usb, and drag n dropped the files on the time capsule. the copying process is fairly slow, but still faster than connecting the old disk directly to the usb slot on time capsule. Is there any way of directly transferring data through the usb slots from my old disk to my time capsule? it would be so much faster.....
    thanks in advance...

Hmmm... my Time Capsule folder resides in my Shared Folder under Finder. It mounts a few seconds after I click on it. I've never had to +connect to server+.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to continue to use this Time Machine backup in this manner. TM utilizes a sparsebundle when backing up to a NAS (Time Capsule) which is very different from a backup into a folder structure if the HDD is connected directly to your Mac (USB HDD). Your TM back ups will still be available on your USB HDD, but you are better off starting an entirely new backup on TC.
    Good luck!

  • Zen Microphoto Recognition Problem..

I looked around for almost two weeks before finally deciding the Mphoto was the combination that best suited me. Yesterday was the big installation day. I bought a power adapter and charged it up. In the mean time, I installed the software. The last thing I did before going to bed last night was attach it to my year old Dell labtop via the USB. No detect. Nothing in the device manager. Nothing no where. This morning I woke up, reinstalled all the software with everything else secured (virus, network, etc). Reset the player. Nothing. I went through all the Knowledge Base suggestions. Nothing. Tried everything again with our desktop. Same results. Then I simply said to myself, I don't have time for this BS and took the player back. Thanks for the fun Creative.

Update on my fun. I decided to take one last crack. I restarted the PC, turned off everything running, virus, firewall, printer monitors, network help, anything adobe, quicktime, you name it. I then re-downloaded the two Microsoft patches mentioned in the FAQ section and reran them. I next crossed my fingers and inserted the ZEN program, lo & behold, Mongo perform miracle. Everything loaded and I've been slamming pictures and CDs at it constantly. Only thing that changed is that I did return the Microphoto and replaced with a Sleek Photo for about the same money. The Microphoto was cutesy; the sleek feels great. Now, all I need is (a) a good case and (b) a power adapter that doesn't need the usb cable. You'd think that Creative would market a dummy connector with only power. I'd buy it. Anyway the story has a happy ending for now. The Sleek is like the Micro but beefier; feels better. I'll stop while I'm ahead.Message Edited by tloewenberg on 08-30-2006 07:00 AMMessage Edited by tloewenberg on 08-30-2006 07:0 AM
