ZEN Microphoto Error

Hello I'm new?a lot before I go into alot of detail, what do these error messages mean:?Return Error Code Is - 2472332andSupport Services Quote "Error I-00"?both of these pop up one after the other after I try to reload the software on my windoesXP. It's a very long story. but for now I just want to know what thoes mean. THANK YOUMessage Edited by j9 on -0-200609:48 PM

That isn't even the worst of it?Ok everything was working great until 3 weeks ago. I was at a bellydancing show recording the music and I was sitting down on a chair in a carpeted room and I went to grab something so I put my ZEN on my lap and it just slid off and onto the floor? (NOTE it was in it'ss protection glove) but when I picked it up it wouldn?t respond I tried turning it on/off it just wouldn?t get out of sleep mode. So when I got home I took the battery out and restarted it. I thought everything was ok until the battery got low, so I plugged it into the computer to charge it up because I had a Cross Country meet on the next day but when I turned it on to listen to it I saw that I never charged so I assumed that the computer was turned off. So I did it again the next day and would you know the same thing happened but the really weird thing is that when I plugged it in, the screen shows that it is in the process of charging. It took about a week and a half for it to get anywhere. On? the on day after coming home from school it finally showed that it got about 3/4s of it charged. But even 3 weeks after that it'ss still 3/4s it didn?t go anywhere.?I had very little trouble before this except for the computer saying that it wasn?t connected all I needed to do before this was just to reinstall the software to get the computer to recognize it?But anyway this time when I tried to do that it didn?t even get anywhere with the reinstallation before it came up with these two error messages:?Error I-00 and when I click OK I get another error box saying that DoInstall failed to launch and that the Return error code-2472332? ?I even got rid of WMP and URGE with no luck however I did find a Trojan in my Creative CD but I scanned it and it said that it wasn?t acti've. But for some reason I can't get rid of it, even when I try to drag and drop it somewhere else outside the CD dri've it. duplicates it'ss self and stays in the same place while the other one goes to where I put it. And I just wiped everything off my ZEN hoping to fix the problem? but it didn?t make any difference. ?So now I?m basically stuck till I can figure out what all of this is, and my Dad might take it back to Wal-Mart tomorrow, so that's why I?m in a hurry, but I don't think that they will take it back because I'm not registered with Creative and I bought it back in June. But I just want to have all my facts first.??

  • Creative Zen MicroPhoto Error (8

    Hi,
I'm from the UK but purchase a Zen MicroPhoto from the USA brand new. I've had it around 3 weeks and its been great but the other day when i went to turn it on the screen froze and it wouldn't boot up the the menu like usual. It is the Creative logo screen in white on the black background, the one with the copyright information.
Anyway i've had it in revocery mode and nothing but the reboot option works but of course it just boots to the same situation except that its just Creative white on black logo with no copyright info. Then freezes at that point. Of course it won't install the new firmware i have as it won't recognize it on the computer because it hasn't booted properly..
Clean up - Freezes and never completes
    Reboot Firmware - Freezes.
    Formate - Freezes
    Reboot- Freezes after attempt.
I've read through a few topics and seen similar things but is there a solution or is my Mp3 player faulty? It seems the optins to sort this out they give you are as good as a chocolate fireguard.
Will i have to send it back to get it sorted and will Creti've UK take it's
    Thanks......

If it was something the player could recover from (ie just an error), then the options in Recovery Mode should have done that. It unfortunately sounds like it's faulty.
Contact Customer Support (for the UK), I'm sure they will be able to assist you.

I had the same problem with my 40GB Touch a couple of days ago. I just needed to reset the player>clean disk>reboot?I had read that if the software detects any error codes in the player in will not detect it or connect. Hope this helps, it did for me but I'm still learning how to use mine (just picked it up used)?BTW I'm using WMP , couldn't get CMO 3 or 5 to work either?Message Edited by TP24 on 0-9-20070:9 PM

  • Is Zen Microphoto 8GB compatible with Windows Vis

    Hello,
My Zen microphoto was working fine until yesterday. I got a firmware error msg so I downloaded the latest firmware for microphoto (.3.0) and uploaded it using my bf's laptop (he's still got XP and media player 0). It uploaded successfully, but I'm still getting that error msg. Am I missing something?
I may have a defecti've unit and I have a warranty on it that allows me to replace it for another one, but I'm just like to know if this is a compatibility issue vs. a bum player issue before I do so.
    Thanks for the help!
    Callie

Anyone else having problems with Zen Microphoto and Vista? Would appreciate some help or advice whether or not Microphoto and Vista are compatable.
    Thank you.

  • Zen MicroPhoto - Website Download Compatibil

I have a Zen MicroPhoto and purchased and downloaded a couple of songs from Buy.com. When I try to transfer them to my MicroPhoto, it gives me a "License is Required to Transfer" error. Is the MicroPhoto not compatable with Buy.com downloads, or is there a quick fix for this? If it is not compatable with Buy.com, does anyone know what websites it would be?
    Thank you!

I dont know about Buy.com and downloads. Maybe you need to register the music you purchase? Do a search.
It should work with Yahoo Music and Napster, if you like those.

  • Zen Microphoto Malfuncti

I have a Zen Microphoto, I've had it for like about and half years. I'm not sure if I still have my warranty or not. My problem is.. when I turn on my Zen, it does it's little boot up screen, you know with the Logo, and information. Then it goes to recovery mode. I've done everything everyone else has said, you know reboot, clean up, format, and back up firmware. These are all done on the mp3 itself. I use it to listen in the car, how am I suppose to fix it. I tried to upgrade firmware but it gives me some error that another application is interfering. It's able to recharge but I find it losing power pretty quickly. Any ideas?

    Yes it works

  • Installing Zen Microphoto 8 GB on Vi

Windows Vista (32bit) does not install my Zen Microphoto 8 GB.
Upon connecting the device via USB, it tries to install it as an MTP-device. The installation fails. ('The device does not start' Code 0.)
According to the Driver Availability Chart support should be native.
I have already upgraded the firmware to .3.0e (on another PC).
I tried to connect it via USB connections on the front and at back.
    I used different cables.
    All to no avail.
    Any suggestions

the screen? really? i was thinking some sort of power/battery glitch, since i get no backlight, no lights on the keyboard, no light on the on/off switch when it's not hooked up to the computer via usb. also coz that "your battery level is too low" error message.
actually, it's probably BOTH a power issue and screen issue, now that i think about it. *sigh* guess i'll contact the seller and see what he'll do. yeah, normally i have luck on ebay. my little zenv plus was certainly a good buy. oh well.
thank you for your prompt response.

  • Zen Microphoto dll prob

Hi, I just received a new Zen Microphoto as a gift from a family member. Im liking it so far, but I have a big problem. I can't install any creative software on my computer because I keep getting an error saying "Unable to load CTCabEx.dll" and then the install either stops, or finishes without anything being installed.
Can anyone help me with this problem?

I tried that and had no luck. What I did was create a new profile with admin privilages (xp home) and rebooted. I logged in as the new user and closed all the programs that were open that I was able to. When I tried to install the program I still got the can't load dll error.
then try if u have clogging sofwtare like a messenger or something else u can try.
I don't understand what you mean by this.

  • Freezing Zen Microphoto; post h

I wanna know, how many people are having this problem?
The problem, of course, is that the player will not finish turning on AND you cannot do anything in recovery/rescue mode because selecting an option will cause it to freeze.
This has happened to me with 2 Zen Microphotos already. I thought the first time was just a coincindence or something. Howeverm after looking throught these boards, its seems that the player is just all around faulty.
See the problem, Creative Labs? We post on the forums when we have tried everything else, we've tried the recovery mode, and it freezes. Lets face it, the Zen Micro has a huge problem that needs to be corrected. It does not occur after a set period of time, but in a rather random time frame.

Generally when the player freezes like that, and recovery mode fails to solve the problem (especially if it gives a "Hard disk problem" error), it indicates the player's hard dri've has failed. It's the same with ANY hard dri've player; we all buy the hard dri'ves from a 3rd party company. They generally fail due to abuse, same as in a laptop. This really isn't anything new to hard dri've based MP3 players, Creative, Apple, Archos, etc, in general.

  • MicroPhoto Errors on

So I lost my original installation disc for my Zen MicroPhoto. Actually, I found it, but it was completely broken in half. I installed all the drivers I could find on the creative website for the MicroPhoto, but now I'm getting error messages every time I hook my MicroPhoto up to the computer. MediaSource crashes every time I try to open it. I've re-installed it, and it still won't work. Is there *any* way to simply get a new installation disc mailed out to me? This is driving me nuts!?~Nelly

Ah ha! There's the culprit:P It's never reccomended that you fill the MicroPhoto or any type of mp3 player to the max. When you do it starts doing weird stuff like that. I'd strongly reccomend that you either delete some songs, perhaps ones that you don't listen to, or convert them to a lower bit rate. Just make sure you leave some free space on it. What bit rate do you currently have them at?Message Edited by FuturePilot on 08-22-2006 09:04 PM

  • Connecting Zen MicroPhoto to

    Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my Zen MicroPhoto. I cannot connect it to my PC. (it had worked before with another PC). The Creative Media Explorer Software is installed correctly, but when connected via USB cable, it says: your player is not connected. It does however recognize the player as USB mass storage device when setting up a removable HDD on the player. I would (of course) like to put music onto my player, but don't know how. Does anyone have an idea? Maybe the reason is that I only have WinXP (not SP or SP2, which due to a file error I cannot install without clearung my entire HDD)?
    Thanks for your help!!

minimum requirements for the ZMP states WinXP with SP or better
without SP no MTP functionality, without MTP no ZMP player.

  • How do I convert Itunes purchases to my ZEN MicroPhoto??

Okay, I had an Ipod mini and I went through three of them in the warranty time. I was sorely dissappointed with it, but I got a Creative Labs ZEN microphoto for Christmas and I love it. The only problem is that I have all this music that I downloaded from Itunes and I would love to be able to listen to it on my ZEN. I would still like to keep downloading from Itunes because it's the easiest and most legal downloading site that I have found. I know there are converters online, but I can't ever tell if it's legal or it will work. Does Apple have anything (hopefully free) that converts Itunes for my new ZEN???

Are you saying that iTunes downloads are only compatible with iPod's? That in order to play an iTunes download on anything but an iPod involves either illegal conversion or first burning it to a CD? I, too, just received a Zen Vision M and nowhere in the download, signup or anything else process did I see any mention of the fact that iTunes is not compatible with other software/hardward. Yes, the CD conversion trick works but for the aggrevation and lost time it's cheaper to drive to the store and buy the real thing.

  • Just got an 8 gig Zen MicroPhoto and love it! Just some suggestions tho

Hi everyone, my friend was considering a Zen Vision M and an Ipod video. I kinda suggested the Zen so he got it and absolutely loves it.
After seeing how nice the Zen Vision M is, I jumped on this MicroPhoto when I saw a sale and it is awesome!
The Zen MicroPhoto is a really good device, but just simple firmware stuff could make it a great one.
.) Ability to view pictures + listen to music
2.) Ability to view movies and video (the Muvo has smaller capacity and a screen with less colors and it can? Yet we are buying a nicer mp3 player than the Muvo but can't do video? The Sansa is small as hell and it can. It has the screen, hardware wise it should be able to do it, and if this is added through a firmware update, it won't be on the packaging and thus will not hurt sales of your other products.
I hate it when an awesome product is created and is capable of something and the manufacturer slashes that ability from it intentionally.
Another good example is the Gen III Ford Taurus SHO, its 3.4 liter Yamaha V8 was capable of revving well over 7500RPM and producing more than 30hp. Ford however, even though they had this jewel of an engine, intentionally cut its ability down to 235hp or else they feared it would be faster than their Mustang GT. What a shame, I hate to see that Creative is doing the same with the MicroPhoto.
3.) Ability to record FM with the latest firmware (If this is a RIAA issue, then please provide two firmwares and two download links, one that says "United States Users" and one that says "Non-US users"
4.) Ability to control different aspects of the glowing blue LEDs. They are obviously firmware controlled and can have brightness adjusted since they glow in and out when you have it plugged into the USB cable.
5.) Make it show up on your computer as a removable disk. On all my other MP3 players, it showed up just like a flash dri've and you could drag and drop whatever you wanted onto it, and it would just play whatever files on there it could play. Here, it won't let me drag and drop anything that is copy protected or is a different file type.
I know you can set aside 4 gigs of that for this purpose, but with the size of the files and videos I transfer, it would be nice if I could use all 8 gigs. Perhaps an option to just let the whole thing show up as a removable flash dri've?
*ok... I just tried it and that seems to be working on this computer that is Windows XP SP2 with WMP, but on the school computer that was XP SP2 with WMP0, it would not allow me to do this.

I think you will find that the reason the MicroPhoto is on sale is that it is now a legacy player (it was released before anybody could play video). I doubt very much that any further improvements will be coming....
EQ does have an effect... Maybe you earphones are not working well?

one method i saw and tried worked well but you need to try it at your own risk!!! turn off your microphoto, grab your microphoto with the screen facing you, and either slap your hand against the SIDE of your microphoto, or slap the SIDE of your microphoto against your hand. This method works for me but try it at your own risk. it could damage your hard disk. (its probably already damaged anyways.)and if you really need to turn off your Zen but it wont turn off, i suggest removing the battery.
