  • Zen MicroPhoto: "Hardware Problem&qu

I've had my player a little bit over a year. When I turn it on it only displays the message, "Hardware Problem."? I've yet to find anybody who's addressed this issue, and I've no idea what actual steps to take (I'm completely technologically stupid, anyway, and I'm afraid I will mess something up). ?I'd rather not lose all my music...
    Thanks!

You'll probably have to send it in to Creative to get it fixed. Since it's a hardware problem there's not much you can do about it yourself.

  • Creative ZEN Microphoto Harware Problem.

When I include my ZEN Microphoto on the screen appears report "Hardware problem" . I install MP3 Player Recovery Tool, but he does not see - "No supported device connected". In what a problem can be, and how to correct it independently?

Software cannot fix a hardware problem. The hardri've or motherboard is bad in you player.

  • ZEN Vision 'Hardware Problem' error mess

Model No: ZEN Vision - PMC-HD0002
Error occurred as a result of a firmware upgrade.I can access 'recovery mode' &?have attempted several further firmware upgrades. It loads, rebuilds, reboots, starts then the 'hardware problem' error message returns. The device is currently stating, in 'recovery mode', that the following firmware is loaded v.42.0_0.0.9.I have removed all data (format all), run 'clean up' & 'rebooted' then upgraded firmware but with no success.?Any ideas will be greatly received & appreciated.

    hi.
i have exactly the same problem.
did you manage to find any answer?
how did you access the recovery mode?
your response will be greatly appreciated.
    thanks!

  • Zen Microphoto Pixel Problems (Red Li

OK, so I have a BRAND NEW Zen Microphoto and ever since I first turned the thing on I have this RED LINE (about pixel wide) running vertically down the middle of my screen. It's like you can still see what's there behind it if you look closely.
I actually had gotten it go away for a little while, and it has come back and has been there since. So I don't believe there is damage to the actual OLED screen, but who knows I'm no professional here!!
Other than the annoying line the player seems to be working fine.. but like I said, its ANNOYING.
I have tried a few things to fix it.. I've formatted it and rebooted it from Recovery Mode.. I've TRIED to update the firmware, but I can't seem to get the Firware Update to connect to my Microphoto. Windows, Windows Media Player, and Creative MediaSource Organizer reads it being there.. yet NOT the Firmware Update. Actually I THINK I got WIndows to update the Firmware for me or something because accorinding to my Microphoto it already has that version on there?
If anyone has any suggestions, or heard of this happening PLEASE let me know. I'm not really sure what to do at this point. I looked all over the place to find one, and when I finally did I'm having problems with it!
    Thanks!

I am having the exact same problem with my Zen Microphoto. There is a vertical red line in the display. It appears to be pixel in width extending the height of the screen, top to bottom. EXTREMELY annoying!
What is Creative's policy to fixing this?

  • Zen MicroPhoto connection problem/file transfer prob

My wife had a Zen MicroPhoto player that she used for audiobooks. About a month ago it started having "no device found" problems with the Media Explorer. She bought a new player, and it's no better. The Media Explorer will not install. I tried installing it separately, and the installation hangs, because it cannot find the player. She is using the Organizer now to transfer files, but she much prefers the Explorer. Many of the audiobook discs have the same file names (e.g., Track , Track 2, Track 3,....,etc.). When that happens, with the second and subsequent disks, she gets a message asking whether to replace or skip the duplicate files; the file names are the same, but the disks have different album names. Is there a workaround for this?

I thought Creative's customer support was bad, but this "discussion forum" sucks big time -- not a single reply. Thanks....

  • ZEN displaying "Hardware Problem" mess

I got my zen micro in January but did not start using it seriously until a few days ago. It is probable that the power in the battery was very low as I did not charge in much before starting to use it.
After about 20 mins of use I got a message saying that the system was shutting down and it froze in that state.
I removed the battery to reset the machine but when I put it back again I got the message "Hardware Problem".
I have tried the trick of holding the switch ON while replacing the battery but I still get the "Hardware Problem" message. I have tried this with the mains charger plugged in but still get the same thing.
The manual suggests reloading the firmware. I have downloaded the latest version but cannot load it as the PC will not recognise the ZEN as connected.
Any ideas of how to fix this?
    What is worse...
I have tried to log this as a support call on this site but when it comes to entering the product ID (in the case of the ZEN it is DAP-MD0004, ZMIC5DBLUE) the system rejects it so I cannot get to log the call.

Hardware problem is a very serious error, and usually there's no way around it other than getting the player repaired. If you're under warranty that will be OK, but if outside of warranty the repair might be quite expensi've.
Hopefully a moderator will spot this post and let you know how to enter your product details.

  • Zen MicroPhoto software-problem (win2k-suppor

today I bought the ZMP cuz I was faszinated about it.
    I use win2k (newest SP's).
The instalation of zen's software doesn't work. At the shop they said I need some software -update and it'll do, but I searched almost the whole web without any result (am I the only one with win2k and the Zen microphoto?). I don't want to upload pictures and I don't wan't any special features (till now). I just wan't to put some fine music onto my fine ZMP without buying winXP.
Can anyone help me solving this problem?

^you need to check out [url="http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=3044">this thread[/url] and download the legacy drivers.
The Zen MicroPhoto is a MTP device and is designed to work with Win XP with SP or 2 installed and Windows Media Player 0.
If you want to use another OS, you need to d/l the legacy drivers.

  • Zen Microphoto Recognition Problem..

I looked around for almost two weeks before finally deciding the Mphoto was the combination that best suited me. Yesterday was the big installation day. I bought a power adapter and charged it up. In the mean time, I installed the software. The last thing I did before going to bed last night was attach it to my year old Dell labtop via the USB. No detect. Nothing in the device manager. Nothing no where. This morning I woke up, reinstalled all the software with everything else secured (virus, network, etc). Reset the player. Nothing. I went through all the Knowledge Base suggestions. Nothing. Tried everything again with our desktop. Same results. Then I simply said to myself, I don't have time for this BS and took the player back. Thanks for the fun Creative.

Update on my fun. I decided to take one last crack. I restarted the PC, turned off everything running, virus, firewall, printer monitors, network help, anything adobe, quicktime, you name it. I then re-downloaded the two Microsoft patches mentioned in the FAQ section and reran them. I next crossed my fingers and inserted the ZEN program, lo & behold, Mongo perform miracle. Everything loaded and I've been slamming pictures and CDs at it constantly. Only thing that changed is that I did return the Microphoto and replaced with a Sleek Photo for about the same money. The Microphoto was cutesy; the sleek feels great. Now, all I need is (a) a good case and (b) a power adapter that doesn't need the usb cable. You'd think that Creative would market a dummy connector with only power. I'd buy it. Anyway the story has a happy ending for now. The Sleek is like the Micro but beefier; feels better. I'll stop while I'm ahead.Message Edited by tloewenberg on 08-30-2006 07:00 AMMessage Edited by tloewenberg on 08-30-2006 07:0 AM

  • ZEN MICROPHOTO connection problem, he

Hey guys, well my battery died so i recharge it. The computer did nothing for its charge. Anyways, i went to update the firmware that didn't work, now its stuck with nothing...
The computer recognizes the player when its plugged in only by the windows thing that pops up.
The creative software says the player is not connected.
Firmware update claims its not connected
The player is stuck in recovery mode, all options work but they do me no good.
When turned on it goes to the creative screen then normally it'll go to a MicroPhoto logo thing, now it just all scrambled pixels! I've had nothing but trouble with this thing and i have done nothing to it but plug it in the computer to charge and put new music on, seems like everytime the battery dies I fear the player will screw up. Anyone help me out, i use this all day at work and now i cant!

yeah beta is installed, what do you suggest doing?
Uninstall it. It will roll back to WMP 0. has a problem when it comes to updating firmware. Make sure you uninstall WMP and the WMP Runtime Format. It might be necessary to re install WMP 0 afterwards. If all fails do a System Restore to before WMP was installed.

  • Zen Microphoto 8Gb problem. NEED HE

Okay....so last night i took a bunch of pictures and put them on my zen....i put them onto the removable disk part of the zen, instead of putting them where i could see them....i didnt drop my zen, and i've only had it for a week. it still looks like brand new, hasnt been dropped, hasnt been shaken, ANYTHING. today, i went to put the pictures from the removable disk onto my computer, when it stopped working. i dont know why, it just did. it froze, so i took out the battery to restart it....now when it starts up, it wont get off the Creative logo. at all. it brings me into that emergency menu thing, and i did a disk cleanup, then rebooted it. it still doesnt work at all. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! I NEED those pictures and stuff and i have bunch of other stuff on the removable disk part that i really need. any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you all!

It sounds like a hard dri've failure, but if you're sure that the device haven't suffered any sort of physical shocks it sounds strange. Try to format it (though you'll lose the pictures) and if it doesn't solve the problem, contact Creative or your retailer.

  • Zen Vision:m 60gb "Hardware Problem" Error Mess

My Zen Vision:m has been rebuilding after every startup so I decided to use the recovery tool to fix the problem. In the middle of updating the firmware, the process froze, my player rebooted and now it displays an error message that just says "hardware problem". I can't turn off the player, and it just returns to the error message when I reset, not allowing for me to reboot in recovery mode. Any help would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

Bad hardri've. Can be replaced google Zen Repair or search Ebay

  • Zen Micro Photo "Hardware Problem&qu

I have a Zen Micro Photo purchased back in Christmas of 2006, and now when I boot it up, an error comes up saying that there is a "Hardware Problem." I am not able to do anything when this message appears, so I tried to safe boot it by holding the power switch while inserting the battery. This has not worked, and because the MP3 player is not recognized when it is plugged in to my computer, I can not run the troubleshooting software.
I have emailed customer support and since it is out of warranty, they cannot do anything and recommended that I try here next. Has this happened to anyone before?

"Hardware Problem" on the Zen Micro series of players is generally indicati've of a disk problem (usually a crash.) Some people replace the disk dri'ves on the Micro themselves. Others have found that since the dri've uses a Compact Flash interface, they can install a CF card, up to 32GB, in lieu of a disk dri've to transform the player to a much higher capacity player using flash memory that will not be as vulnerable to damage as a disk dri've.
