Zen MicroPhoto looses charge when switched o

I recently bought a ZMP for my wife, which she listens to on her commute to and from work. I've been gradually uploading her CD collection to it, so it spends a lot of time connected to the computer. We have had a recent tradegy at home and wife hasn't use the player for 3 days. I know it was fully charge as I was uploading CDs to it and was then disconected and switch off.
Coming back to the ZMP my wife finds that it has less than half battery left dispite being switched off. Is this normal for ZMP or is the player faulty?

I've the exact same problem as u. So what i did is to bring back to Creative and they settled for me in just over 2 days.

  • Satellite P300 recently stopped charging when switched on

My Toshiba P-300 has recently stopped charging when switched on.
I have no concept as to how this has happened.
It will charge fine when the laptop is either in sleep or switched off, but once it has been turned on it will not remain charging.
Anybody know what's causing the problem, or has anyone else encountered this before.
    How was it solved?
    Thanks

You must understand that charging process works automatically and it is controlled by power supply electronic. I dont know why this happen and answer to this can give you service provider after notebook check.
Anyway, Satellite P300 is not the newest notebook model and described issue can be related to defective battery.
When the notebook is ON and OS loaded remove battery for few seconds and put it back. Will charging procedure start or not?

  • Zen Micro lose Power when Switched OFF??

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem as me. I fully charged my Zen Micro last night and then left it and just switch it on for the first time now (8 hours later), and the battery indicator shows 2 bars left?
Seems like the Zen Micro loses power even when switched off!?!
Can anyone confirm that this is the case and whether I can do anything to stop it from happening? Is this normal with Hard Dri've MP3 player or only with the Zen Micro?
    Thanks.

<EDIT: (April st, 2005):<<FONT color=#330000>JazzMC has taken the initiati've and written a sort of FAQ and put together a website with all the information to date gathered in one place regarding this power drain of the Zen Micro while off (in standby). It's a great read for those who want more information about the subject and probably easier than wading through this thread.<FONT color=#330000>You can view the document by clicking here: <Zen Micro Power Loss<. <FONT color=#330000>Thanks JazzMC!
Ditto here. I did do a disk cleanup last week and the micro seems to be holding it's charge longer now. It's still draining the battery while sitting idle though according to the bar indicator, but slower (go figure?). This is my only real issue with the Zen Micro as I love it otherwise!
One wierd thing I noticed was I charged it full then left it sit for about 3 days (checking it off and on) then on day 3 it was at one bar. So I plugged it into my home sterio and turned it on to see how long it would play for. I was really surprised to see it last a few minutes shy of 9 hours...
Could this be a battery calibration thing instead of it just loosing charge? Like the meter misreads the batteries actual charge over time instead of it loosing power?
Donno it's wacky, please fix Creative!

  • Zen microphoto not charging through

I'm trying to charge my zen microphoto in a friends computer and it just won't charge. The signal is flashing the computer recognizes the device but the battery is still in /3 although there's been 6 hours since I plugged it...
note that I have a usb connection, that the computer is a laptop, I don't have the software installed, and I haven't updated the firmware...
    what could be wrong?

For my Micro there is an option that you can set the player in Lock mode and then insert the usb cable to the pc which has not drivers installed to enable charging of the player. Try that out.
However, this is with an updated firmware to at least ..0 for my zen micro. Check with the microphoto firmware for more infoMessage Edited by microm3 on 08-02-2006 0:9 PM

  • Zen Micro wont charge when connected using

I've reacently discovered that my Zen Micro isn't charging any more, when I connect it to my computer (or any other computer for that matter). When it's connected, the battery indicator switches from battery-status to battery-charging - however, regardless of how long I let it charge, it shuts down immediately when the cable is unpluged. So it doesnt charge at all!
I'm having a bit trouble finding my regular charger, so I have a bit of a problem here..
Has anyone besides me experienced this? And they might have a solution?
    P.S.
The USB port it is connected to has its own power supply, so its not that it doesnt get enough power..

    i got the resolution.
rasta maybe the drivers haven't been installed. (but it's strange cuz it should have been recognized as an hard disk)
by the way try this following took from support pages:
. Click Start, (Settings), Control Panel, System, Hardware, and then Device Manager.
    2. The MTP player should be listed under Windows Portable Devices.
If there is an error or a yellow exclamation mark next to the device, right click the player listing and select Update driver. (insert the CD and select "automatically detect" drivers from the CD)
Alternati'vely, you can uninstall the device, and reinstall it. Highlight the MTP player listing, and press the Delete key on your keyboard, which will uninstall the MTP device; click Actions ,and then click Scan for hardware changes. Windows will install the necessary drivers.

  • Zen Microphoto AC charging is

When my ZMP is charging on an AC adapter, the thunderbolt is flashing, but the keypad LEDs are not "breathing". Is it normal or my unit can't no longer be AC charged? It works fine with the USB, charging, breathing and all.
    Thanks for your suggestions.

I know it's not the biggest issue in the world but for anything to be wrong with a brand new player I find it very disappointing, and that puts me off using it.
I don't really use a mobile, nor regularily wear a watch so the time feature is a very valuable one to me. I spent two weeks using my boyfriends Sleek photo before I bought my ZMP and used it to look at the time several times a day.
When all the accesories that I've bought arri've I'll have spent ?200 on this player. I can accept things going wrong after I bought it, but I'd like to have it in perfect working order to start with (if it starts with problems then you can hardly be surprised or complain when more things go wrong) and for that price (not a small amount for me) it should come out of the box in perfect working order.
Plus like you say, I'm wary of it being indicati've of bigger and/or future problems.

  • Listen to music whiel Zen Microphoto is charg

can u do it with a usb in the pc? or do u need to buy the wall charger?

There is a good chance your hard dri've is dead. This same thing happened to me. Get away from all noise, turn it on and listen. Making any funny sounds, sort of a clicking, like the sound of a fried dri've? You can pick one up on ebay for around $50 shipped and replace it. Gutting it isn't to hard but you need to be gentle, there is one step that you could easily break one of those stupid thin flex cables. Here's a link to an ebay store and a tear-a-part guide: its for the micro but almost identical inside apart from the screen.
    tear-a-part your micro/photo

  • Creative Zen Microphoto Charge probl

hi i bought my player online over the internet. I bought a charger separate in HMV, does all mp3s. It only charges however when its says battery low on screen-can't charge it any other time.its really annoying. Whats do you think the problem is?

The Zen MicroPhoto also charges over your computer's USB ports.
    Have you tried that?
The Creative Zen Micro charger is only $9.95 and is designed to work with the ZEN MicroPhoto, ZEN Micro and ZEN Neeon.

  • Zen MicroPhoto charging questio

I was wondering how you could turn off Zen MicroPhoto from charging each and every time when you connect it to a computer? Can't the player be connected but stopped from charging?
The reason I'm asking is because you will eventually wreck the battery if you keep charging it when it's not empty or near empty.
If anyone knows something about this, please let me know.
    Regards
    Gonna

Thanks for your reply. The other problem is the fact that when you set your player to be used as a removable storage disk,it still charges once plugged into a computer.Maybe Creative could fix this problem through a firmware update.
The other thing I noticed is that when you put files on the part of your player that is used as removable storage, you can't access any of those files over the player itself (being either audio or photos). And when you plug the player in to the computer, you can't seem to copy files from the removable storage section to other parts of your player such as music and photos.Maybe I haven't figured it out yet,but from what I've tried to do so far,it just hasn't given me an option.
    Gonna :smileyvery-happy:

  • HT201412 My iPhone 4S stops charging a few seconds after being connected to the USB, it will, however, charge when it is switched off.

iPhone stops charging a few seconds after being connected to a USB slot, it will charge when switched off is I think it must be a software issue.

HAve you tried using a different power chord? If the power chord is not the issue, it could be the power supply inside your mac.

  • Creative Zen Microphoto Not Detec

    Hello all,
I bought a Creative Zen Microphoto yesterday and when I try and plug it in to my USB port nothing happens. I've tried holding the on/off button, I've tried it when it's on. I've tried all of my USB Ports. I've tried it on two different computers.
My computers are running Windows XP with Service Pack 2. I've disabled Norton while trying all of the above. Before plugging my mp3 player in I installed all the software that come on the CD.
    Just to clarify this:
The Microphoto won't charge, be detected, etc while in the USB port. It runs fine off my PC ( plays the pre-installed songs, etc ) but as I cannot plug it in to my PC to charge it, add, songs, etc I cannot add my own songs.
Windows doesn't even pop up saying new hardware has been detected, or a USB device has been detected. It just remains how it was before I plugged the device in to my PC.
My computer doesn't show it in removalable devices, nor in Windows Media Player 0.
    Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.Message Edited by Kemik on 07-3-2006 05:3 AM

Try this, go into the Control Panel and click Add/Remove Hardware. Just click next and see if it detects newly added hardware.
Can your computer detect any old flash dri've?

  • Zen Microphoto with Microsoft 2000

Unfortunately I got a Zen Microphoto but my PC is running on Microsoft 2000.
The only computer I have is a computer from my office (laptop) and by some reasons it is running on Microsoft 2000 (Professional version 5.0 Service Pack 4) and there is no plan to upgrate it to XP.
It seems that Zen Microphoto require XP when I am running the installation. Is there any way to go around the problem??
I can store music in MP3 and the problem how to move the files to the ZEN
    BRChris

Im also quite sad, that the zen microphoto dossent work on windows 2000,
my work computer is also running windows 2000, and it lealy bugs me that i cant sync my calender with the zen.
creative should make a firmware, where windows 2000 is supportet. i like the MTP, i can se its the way of the future, but i realy think that creative should realize that windows 2000 still run on meany computers,
i realy like the zen mircophoto, but if i knew that it wassent supportet under windows 2000, i dont think i would have baught it. and do creative even realize that its not supportet ? if you look under the windows 2000 downloads in the creative support site, it says.
    Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 (<FONT color=#222222 size=><B>52.2 MB</B>)
    <EM>Requirements:</EM>
Microsoft? Windows? XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, Windows Millennium Edition or Windows 98 Second Edition
Creative audio device or portable music player</LI>
and let me say... you have no chance to install this download under windows 2000, becaus it requires that the computer can se the device, and the device cant be seen without MTP.
so to install this pakage on even windows xp, you need media player 0.
This is just not right !

  • Zen Microphoto chargeing prob

If I buy the zen micro charger does it show a fork telling me its charged fully?

microphoto uses oled screen not lcd. well for some reason oleds are cheap there better than lcd in someways but suck in others. uhh it could be that you got a fualty display id get it replaced or try the sleek photo. same price.
