Zen MicroPhoto not playing tracks in proper ord

Hey all,
Just got this player and it is pretty good. Having one problem though. Some albums do not play songs in the proper order. Instead they are played in alphabetical order. I checked the tag information on the player and it reads the tracks as having no track number. And when I check them through Zen Media Explorer no track numbers are there. But Windows Explorer clearly shows the proper track numbers in the tag information.
I think the player does not read some tags properly. I had a Phillips based player before this one and it did not have this problem, nor did my RCA Lyra.
This is a make or break situation for this player. I need it to play my album songs in the proper order.
Thanks,
Ply

Ok,
Found out what was wrong. Dragging and dropping through Windows explorer was causing the problem. Dragging and dropping through the Zen explorer properly transfers the track tags. Don't know why it makes a difference, but ohwell, at least it works now...

  • New Zen MicroPhoto not seen by XP or Vi

I'm a total newbie to Creative MP3 players. Just got one yesterday from Electronica Direct via Amazon's store. Running Vista on an HP Pavilian dual core (just 3 months old so very new cutting edge hardware) and running XP on a 5 year old Sony Vaio laptop. Both have latest MS service paks and security fixes.
Also, I appear to be running latest Creative stuff since when I check for updates it reports it doesn't find any. The Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer reports v5.0.2 and:
Creative Import Wizard File (Version .0.25.0)
Creative Audio CD Ripper (Version 5.00.20)
    Creative Sync Manager (Version 5.20.09)
    Creative Playlist Wizard (Version 3..5.0)
    PIM Editor (Version .3.0.0)
Creative Media Explorer reports on both PCs when Zen MicroPhoto plugged into USB:
"Your player is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to the computer."
I can play the music that comes with the Zen. I have used the supplied cable to plug into various USB ports on both PCs. Each time the Creative Media Explorer reports it doesn't see anything.
Under System info the MicroPhoto reports it is version .20.0.
If I unplug the USB plug from the MicroPhoto and then plug it in the MicroPhoto starts itself up. So does that mean it is seeing something electrically from the PC?
In both XP and Vista if I try to close the Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer clicking on the red X does not close it.
In the HP Vista Device Manager under Portable Devices I only see:
    USB CF Reader
    USB MS Reader
    USB SD Reader
    USB SM Reader
Right clicking and doing "Scan for hardware changes" does not help.
In the HP Vista Device Manager under "Uni'versal Serial Bus controllers" I see Intel chips, a USB Mass Storage Device and a bunch of USB Root Hub entries. No Creative device. Also, doing "Scan for hardware changes" does not help in this category either.
Similarly, I do not see the Zen MicroPhoto in the XP Vaio's Device Manager. The Vaio XP Device Manager does not show a "Portable Devices" entry in the main list.
Also, the Vaio's original USB ports are v.. If plug into one of them I can power up the MicroPhoto. The Vaio also has PCMCIA USB 2.0 extender ports and they appear not to provide enough power to start up the MicroPhoto. Does the MicroPhoto need USB 2.0?
I am open to suggestions for things to try...

Bump... I am having issues with duplicate tracks and allt he other crap that goes with mediasource...any help to get my explorer back would be appreciated.

  • Creative Zen Microphoto Not Detec

    Hello all,
I bought a Creative Zen Microphoto yesterday and when I try and plug it in to my USB port nothing happens. I've tried holding the on/off button, I've tried it when it's on. I've tried all of my USB Ports. I've tried it on two different computers.
My computers are running Windows XP with Service Pack 2. I've disabled Norton while trying all of the above. Before plugging my mp3 player in I installed all the software that come on the CD.
    Just to clarify this:
The Microphoto won't charge, be detected, etc while in the USB port. It runs fine off my PC ( plays the pre-installed songs, etc ) but as I cannot plug it in to my PC to charge it, add, songs, etc I cannot add my own songs.
Windows doesn't even pop up saying new hardware has been detected, or a USB device has been detected. It just remains how it was before I plugged the device in to my PC.
My computer doesn't show it in removalable devices, nor in Windows Media Player 0.
    Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.Message Edited by Kemik on 07-3-2006 05:3 AM

Try this, go into the Control Panel and click Add/Remove Hardware. Just click next and see if it detects newly added hardware.
Can your computer detect any old flash dri've?

  • Zen microphoto not charging through

I'm trying to charge my zen microphoto in a friends computer and it just won't charge. The signal is flashing the computer recognizes the device but the battery is still in /3 although there's been 6 hours since I plugged it...
note that I have a usb connection, that the computer is a laptop, I don't have the software installed, and I haven't updated the firmware...
    what could be wrong?

For my Micro there is an option that you can set the player in Lock mode and then insert the usb cable to the pc which has not drivers installed to enable charging of the player. Try that out.
However, this is with an updated firmware to at least ..0 for my zen micro. Check with the microphoto firmware for more infoMessage Edited by microm3 on 08-02-2006 0:9 PM

  • Zen microphoto not work

i got my zen microphoto about 3 months ago and about 2 weeks ago it starting messing up. when i turn it on it will just say creative on the screen and thats all it will do. its like it freezes up.
anybody know what i should do?

Our Micro photo started doing the same exact thing. We eventually noticed that it will turn on, but only after the player has been frozen at the logo screen for 20 or 30 minutes. We also noticed that it will turn off and on within very readily (within 2-3 seconds) when it's been running for a while. Basically it won't turn on when it's "cold". Why would this be and any thoughts on how to fix it's
We have reinstalled the firmware. It didn't help.

  • ITunes NOT Playing tracks it used to play pre ITunes 8.1!!!!!

    Hello,
I really wish apple had better customer service. It's online support is a joke. I've been a loyal apple user ever since the apple hammer took out the regime of IBM in the 80s, but it seems now it is becoming more like Microsoft in the early 90s.
    What the **** happened?
Okay gripe out of the way now. Here's the problem no one seems to be addressing with iTunes (which has a slew of new problems with each update - better BETA testing people!). I have certain tracks in my iTunes Library that played fine until the iTunes 8 update. NOw only certain songs or albums won't play. Changing id tags doesn't help. If I try to reload them into my library after deleting them they will not add to the library any more. Why? Am I missing something simple here?

    HI Michael,
If you haven't done this, try deleting the iTunes preference file: com.apple.iTunes.plist
    Quit iTunes first...
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to your Desktop.
Launch iTunes. See if iTunes behaves... if it does, drag that file to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. Your Mac will create a new pref file for you. You will have to reset your iTunes preferences but at least you'll be rid of a corrupted pref file.
Run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions. That can fix a myriad of bugs on a Mac.

  • Zen V Plus; Play in the right ord

Ive just fought my way here through a few hours of USB recognition troubles... But i made it. Now i have a simpler question... Why does it arrange my album songs alphabetically?
I want to hear my tracks in the normal order, and they are in fact written right when i check them on my computer. But the Zen rearranges them as it sees fit for some reason. Ive found i can can click on each song and manually give it a track number online... is this the only way? Im assuming there is something simpler

    Witchsight wrote:
So there is no option in the Zen itself to simply play them in order then.. Crappy. How does the monkey thing work? And do i have to do that to every cd while its still on the computer?
It's just an .mp3 player- it can't be expected to automatically 'know' the order of every CD ever recorded.
If you don't tag it properly, it will sort them in the default order- by number or alphabetically.
ID3 Tags 'tell' it the correct order. You need to tag your .mp3 files correctly if you want the songs in the right order.

  • IPod not recognised, locking up and not playing tracks.

I am really hoping someone can help me. I have a 30Gb ipod that keeps locking up, it won't play certain tracks (it just hngs and then eventually skips that track).
I am pretty sure that restoring the ipod would fix this but neither of my 2 PCs will let me. When I connect the Ipod to either computer all I get is the do not disconnect screen. iTunes will not recognise that it is connected, and if I try iPod Updater then it normally just hangs. Sometimes updater will give a message that the iPod is being used by another process, but not always. I can see the iPod in windows explorer, if you click on it though it just stops explorer responding. It is also shown in device manager.
I have been through all of the options suggested on the website (5R's) and still no change. Do any of you guys have any other suggestions? Would taking it to an apple store help me? The nearest store is 50 miles away, so I would like to know if it would be worthwhile.

Re-Format your IPOD using Windows and then "Restore" using the updater. Formatting will take severaL HOURs, so don't rush it.

to use the player with the usb port you will need to add music files to the removable disc area of the player & when you connect the player to the stereo it must be in removable disk mode for the car stereo to read the files. If the car has a AUX input on the front you can buy a cord like this one? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...duct_id=820445 connect it using the headphone jack on the player. The removable disc mode gives the better sound quality. Can you post a link for your model car stereo?

  • Zen Nano Plus will not play all trac

My Nano Plus will not playback all tracks installed. My Firmware has been updated to .0.03I have formated the Nano Plus via Windows Explorer.
Tracks have been transferred via Windows Media Player 0 AND Creative MediaSource Organizer 3.30.2 with the same problem. The NanoPlus Mass
Storage Driver has been updated, too. I have tried it on both a desktop AND a notebook PC. The transferred tracks are combinations of WMA and MP3. Both played and unplayed tracks are a combination of
    WMA-protected, WMA-nonprotected, and MP3, 28/59/60/92kbps -
nothing unique about the tracks that will not play.
The tracks have either been ripped from my audio CDs or downloaded via Media Player MSN Music store or MP3 store. I have licensed all tracks and they all play via Windows MediaPlayer and Creative MediaSource Player from my hardri've.
All tracks show up on the Zen Nano Plus in windows explorer and will play from the NanoPlus via Media Player and Creative MediaSource player, but they will not all play through the NanoPlus.
All problem tracks (if transferred via
MediaSource) will either be skipped or the NanoPlus will pause when the NanoPlus is playing or they simply are not
    visible (if transferred via MediaPlayer0).
The problem tracks are not always the same tracks after I have re-transferred them (I have tired 4
times to clean/re-transfer tracks). I have 8 tracks and only 36 will play. When transferred via Windows MediaPlayer0, the tracks are organized into multiple folders. When transferred via Creative MediaSource, they are all in the root directory.
What can I do to get this to work properly?

    That may be it!
My tracks have been transferred with WMP0 into the following Folder structure:
    MUSIC-AUTHOR-ALBUM-Tracks.
In Explorer/MediaSource, there is One MUSIC folder containing 65 AUTHOR folders containing 74 ALBUM folders containg 85 Tracks.
My Zen Nano Plus MENU-MUSIC display shows only 3 Folders -- 3 ALBUM Folders of 36 Tracks -- the tracks that do playback.
Is this just an organizational problem?
If so, it's not very handy to Sync....there is nothing in the manual that explains this!
    I'll re-organize and see.
What is the best FOLDER structure to use?

  • Zen Microphoto plays but No Screen

I have a Creative Zen microphoto 8g and it plays music but the screen is blank. Nothing shows up at all. It plays but I cant tell where I am in the menu.
How can I fix this ...and if I cant can someone point me to a screenshot of the most common menus. It is in click mode so I can tell where I am by the clicks but I dont remember the structure.

    Hi,
If you have not already, try resetting as well as updating the firmware of the player. You might want to get in touch with support for further assistance if that does not help.

  • Real Instruments Tracks Not Playing

In one of my songs, the real instruments do not play. However, I can hear the reverb and echo for these tracks. The tracks still respond to editing. The drum loop and Software Piano play just fine.
Last night, all tracks worked properly, even after deleting a real instrument track. I saved and shut down for the night.
After booting up today, the remaining real instrument tracks have only very minimal volume; really, just a faint whisper. Track info remains the same and I can see some real instrument track monitor activity, but that's about it for the real instruments.
In response to some earlier advice, I created a new Real Instrument and/or a Software Track and see if they are soloed. Nothing, no "hidden" soloed Track.
The real instrument tracks remain silent, though fully editable.
    Any assistance would be great.

I went into the master track to see what's going on.
Ducking option was not highlighted, so I clicked on it just to see what would happen. It unlocked all locked tracks, but not the real instruments for some reason. Then, I removed Ducking option.
All real instruments have returned. Problem resolved.
It was something to do with Ducking.
Each day I learn something new. Life is good.

  • Audio Tracks will not play

    Hi there,
I'm using FCP 7 for a project that was originally edited in Final Cut 6 (I had to switch to 7 because BOTH my computers at home have crashed today which use FCP6, now I'm up at my office and have to use 7 - bad day, I know).
I'm trying to do some sound edits and only one audio track is playing (tracks 3 and 4) which are the source audio from the XDCAM Footage (note, these tracks have not been soloed - if that's a word). All my other tracks are not working. When played they produce no sound, but the audio meters to the right are moving. When played in quicktime, iTunes, or Finder they do indeed still work.
Audio Output has been set to Default, though I've also tried Built-in Audio Output. I'm using headphones, but it also does not play through the computer. I've also tried speakers. All other audio on the computer is fine - my volume is up.
Sometimes I can get tracks one and two to play after re-rendering.
RT is set to Unlimited, but it also doesn't work with Safe RT.
Any insight into this issue would be much appreciated!
    Thanks

Go to Sequence Settings...then the AUDIO TAB. How many tracks of audio do you have? More than 2 and STEREO?
If you right-click on the track patch area on the timeline, you can assign these tracks to audio ouputs...are they set to anything other than 1 or 2?
