Zen Microphoto - Songs show up as "Unkno

I just got my Microphoto a few days ago and transferred 500 songs. I have 2 questions:
. In the upper left corner when a song is playing it says "50 of 24" or whatever "of 24". Shouldn't that number be 500 since I transferred 500 songs, or what does that number mean?
2. Why do so many of my tracks show up as "unknown" information? Most will show a song title or artist title but many show "unknown" when the actual music file that I transferred from my computer has the correct information.
I can't find this information in current threads and the book it comes with isn't very helpful. Thanks.
Lisa

Thanks. I actually had to add "all" of my 500 songs into a playlist and then they showed up and I can't figure out how to delete the 24 songs that are kind of "lost" in the system. Anyway at least I got them all on there finally.
Do I change the id tags on my computer so they don't show up as "unknown?" I have them in windows media player and I don't know how to change the id tag.
Thanks for the great help!

  • Zen microphoto song list h

I have a 4gb zen microphoto, and when i scroll down the "all songs" library there is a gap were 4 songs should be, but they dont appear. can anyone tell me why this is, and if my description is crappy i might get a picture soon, but please tell me how to fix it

hello, Before my ZMP froze on me I built up a playlist which seems to be what you need. You need to install the Creative Zen installation CD which allows you to make a playlist so you can listen to all of the songs in your albums.
Simply install the program, and start media source organizer, and make a new playlist, then go to the songs that you want and select them en-mass if possible (i.e. s hift + click) and right click and select "add to playlist" and select the playlist you created from the drop down menu, or just drag and drop the albums you want onto the playlist so when you go to playlist on your ZMP you can open the one you made which will have all of the songs you wanted together in the same group. I used this with my old MP3 player to shuffle songs, but unfortunately my zen isn't working hence my reason for being on these forums -.-"
i've tried it on ZMP and it works fine so just AIM me on l3enwang if you have any other questions because i don't plan to check these forums very often.Message Edited by benw on 08-27-2006 0:43 AM

  • Creative Zen (16GB Model) showing incorrect song information

<Creative Zen (6GB Model) showing incorrect song information I was given a Creative Zen for christmas, and I'm very happy with it.
The only thing is, I've noticed that it seems to occasionally display the wrong title for the song it's playing. I have a playlist called RandomAll which I created using the Media Explorer software. Sometimes, when I look down at the player, I'll notice the wrong song information on screen. Not just the title or anything, but completely wrong information. For example, right now, my player is telling my that a Rihanna song is playing, and gives me all the details for that song (including the extended details if I go into the menu). But the song that's actually playing is a cover of Fraggle Rock by Me First & The Gimme Gimmes. It doesn't seem to be the same songs every time or anything like that, so I don't think it's a problem with the files.
Is this an issue that has been noticed by anyone else? Is there anything I can do to fix it's And if not, is it the kind of thing I need to send my player back for?

@ It could be incorrect ID3 tags on your .mp3s, if the source for your music had the wrong ID3 information, your Zen won't show the correct information unless you use an? ID3 Tag Editor to correct the source.

  • Creative Zen MicroPhoto: How can I look at the Playli

    Hi!
I have a small question about my new Zen MicroPhoto: While I hear music I often add new songs, lots of songs. So I can read "playing 3 of 42" or something else. How can I take a look on the songs which are following? I want to see the acti've playlist, so that I can see "Ah, three songs later there will be song "blablabla".
    Is this possible somehow?
    Thanks!Message Edited by san_salvador on 04-4-2006 04:4 PM

    san_salvador,
When you're at the Now Playing screen, tap the scroll pad again and it should show you the list.

  • Just got my white Zen MicroPhoto (warning: large pi

I finally got my white Zen MicroPhoto in from Singapore yesterday (I'm in the USA).
Overall I am very impressed and so far, the only thing that I have found that I'm not really fond of is the size/shape of the screen. It is definitely more of a square than a rectangle, which leads to more of the song info being cut off as opposed to the regular Zen Micro.
The sides and back (battery cover) are now made out of annodized metal instead of plastic. And the hold button, usb port, and headphone jack all seem a lot more sturdy, but at this point in time I'm not willing to do any further testing on that (especially the headphone jack) for obvious reasons.
Also, there is a piece of paper in the box that says the PlaysForSure feature will be available soon via a firmware download.
Feel free to ask me any questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability.
    Cheers, Alex

Yup, I had a 5gb Zen Micro, one of the first ones that came out (and I didn't start having the headphone jack problem with mine until about 0 months after owning it). I cannot notice a difference between the sound quality but I will say the sound quality is greatly affected by which headphones you are using. When switching between the stock head phones and a pair of iPod Headphones, the iPod headphones sounded slightly better but the volume was much lower. I've honestly never listened to any other current MP3 players so I can't make a good comparison there, but I will say there is little if no difference in sound quality between the Zen Micro and the Zen MicroPhoto. I do not find the OLED screen to be dim at all, it's bright enough to be read in almost any condition I've used it in so far. The screen looks very nice, it's not anything spectacular but it shows photos quite nicely, minus the fact that the screen is a little square. I would probably rate it around an 8 but I'm going to take a look at my friends iPod Photo on Monday and see if i can compare.

  • Creative Zen Microphoto Not Detec

    Hello all,
I bought a Creative Zen Microphoto yesterday and when I try and plug it in to my USB port nothing happens. I've tried holding the on/off button, I've tried it when it's on. I've tried all of my USB Ports. I've tried it on two different computers.
My computers are running Windows XP with Service Pack 2. I've disabled Norton while trying all of the above. Before plugging my mp3 player in I installed all the software that come on the CD.
    Just to clarify this:
The Microphoto won't charge, be detected, etc while in the USB port. It runs fine off my PC ( plays the pre-installed songs, etc ) but as I cannot plug it in to my PC to charge it, add, songs, etc I cannot add my own songs.
Windows doesn't even pop up saying new hardware has been detected, or a USB device has been detected. It just remains how it was before I plugged the device in to my PC.
My computer doesn't show it in removalable devices, nor in Windows Media Player 0.
    Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.Message Edited by Kemik on 07-3-2006 05:3 AM

Try this, go into the Control Panel and click Add/Remove Hardware. Just click next and see if it detects newly added hardware.
Can your computer detect any old flash dri've?

  • Creative Zen Microphoto froz

    Hi!
I have a Zen Microphoto (8 GB) and was very happy with it until last week. I connected it to my laptop like I did several times before, but it behaved strange: it went on automatically and showed the screen you see when a song is playing, but it did't play. The player was frozen and didn't carge also. I then noticed that my computer didn't recognize it at all, likewise the Creative Explorer. The only possibillitiy to switch it off was to remove the battery.
When I reconected the player, it said "rebuilding libary", but afterwards it fell into the same state again. I left it hooked up to the computer for several hours, but it didn't charge or anything else. I tried all my Usb-ports, I have XP SP 2, the drivers are installed, it worked perfectly fine before and I did not change a single thing on my system.
    Do you have any ideas?
    Thanks a lot,
    Johannes

  • Zen Microphoto Probl

My Zen Microphoto is giving me problems as of late. It isn't being detected by my computer, it doesnt show the song info on the now playinng screen, it freezes up a lot, and when i start it up it freezes on the "rebuilding library" everytime. it worked perfectly for months and i am lost with out it!!! somebody help me!!!!

probably the only thing to do is hold the on switch while putting in the battery then you will get a menu,? I would first select disk clean and see if that fixes if not there is a menu option for format I would do that

  • Zen MicroPhoto h

i got a zen microphoto about a year ago. i took good care of it,dropped it once. now, when i turn on my microphoto it shows nothing but a black screen. i can hear the songs i have on it but i can't see what i am doing. all i am seeing black the lights go on and everything,i can hear music/songs. i'm not sure what to do. any ideas?

You said "it's fine when I charge it" Do you mean that it charges fine? Do a clean up>reboot from the recovery menu. If that doesn't help a format of the dri've should get it recognized. BE AWARE FORMATING WILL ERASE ALL FILES.Message Edited by coachop94 on 09-28-2008 06:02 PM

  • Zen MicroPhoto frozen, inopera

    Hi folks,
I am a proud owner of a Zen Vision M which I got last Christmas. I have always been pleased with it, though I wish I had gotten a screen protector, since its pretty banged up at this point.
However, my post is in regards to my wife's MP3 player, the aforementioned Zen MicroPhoto. Today, as she was walking to the train, her Zen froze up really randomly while playing an mp3 that I have on my Zen player (Pharoahe Monch's Desire). Upon looking at the Mp3 player and the website here at creative.com, we decided to run the rescue mode/reboot screen and scan the hard dri've for corrupted files by removing the battery, putting it back in and reseting the player to get to the rescue screen, where we'd hit the scan button to scan all the songs.
We pressed the button to scan the player for bad files. 2 hours later, it still was showing the same screen, saying that it was scanning. Panicking at this point, we took out the battery again, and this time tried straight rebooting. The mp3 player got to the creative screen and stopped there. It had frozen showing the creative logo.
Finally, my wife decides to reformat it while I frantically searched the forums, and the 'formatting' message is frozen on the rescue mode screen.
We do have receipts and proofs of purchase, but we'd like to see if there is any way to fix this problem at this point. I have a feeling its a hard dri've problem, since when the player is in the BIOS state (rescue screen), it has trouble whenever it accesses the player's hard dri've itself.
Is this a hardware problem? Software? Corrupted files? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks alot in advance.

So far Ive ben waiting for the battery to completely charge. Now that its charged im doing the "Disk Cleanup" and its been sitting on "Scan Disk"? for about 30 minutes. I forsee doom in the path of my zen.
If the cleanup doesent work I will do the "Formatt"witch destroy's my thousands of songs... good thing they are all backed up on my comp...
If the formatt doesent work... I guess its just... dead... seeing as Ive droped it, I cant get a new one on the warrenty. Now I guess its my little 200$ paper weight. ?:robotmad:

  • Just got an 8 gig Zen MicroPhoto and love it! Just some suggestions tho

Hi everyone, my friend was considering a Zen Vision M and an Ipod video. I kinda suggested the Zen so he got it and absolutely loves it.
After seeing how nice the Zen Vision M is, I jumped on this MicroPhoto when I saw a sale and it is awesome!
The Zen MicroPhoto is a really good device, but just simple firmware stuff could make it a great one.
.) Ability to view pictures + listen to music
2.) Ability to view movies and video (the Muvo has smaller capacity and a screen with less colors and it can? Yet we are buying a nicer mp3 player than the Muvo but can't do video? The Sansa is small as hell and it can. It has the screen, hardware wise it should be able to do it, and if this is added through a firmware update, it won't be on the packaging and thus will not hurt sales of your other products.
I hate it when an awesome product is created and is capable of something and the manufacturer slashes that ability from it intentionally.
Another good example is the Gen III Ford Taurus SHO, its 3.4 liter Yamaha V8 was capable of revving well over 7500RPM and producing more than 30hp. Ford however, even though they had this jewel of an engine, intentionally cut its ability down to 235hp or else they feared it would be faster than their Mustang GT. What a shame, I hate to see that Creative is doing the same with the MicroPhoto.
3.) Ability to record FM with the latest firmware (If this is a RIAA issue, then please provide two firmwares and two download links, one that says "United States Users" and one that says "Non-US users"
4.) Ability to control different aspects of the glowing blue LEDs. They are obviously firmware controlled and can have brightness adjusted since they glow in and out when you have it plugged into the USB cable.
5.) Make it show up on your computer as a removable disk. On all my other MP3 players, it showed up just like a flash dri've and you could drag and drop whatever you wanted onto it, and it would just play whatever files on there it could play. Here, it won't let me drag and drop anything that is copy protected or is a different file type.
I know you can set aside 4 gigs of that for this purpose, but with the size of the files and videos I transfer, it would be nice if I could use all 8 gigs. Perhaps an option to just let the whole thing show up as a removable flash dri've?
*ok... I just tried it and that seems to be working on this computer that is Windows XP SP2 with WMP, but on the school computer that was XP SP2 with WMP0, it would not allow me to do this.

I think you will find that the reason the MicroPhoto is on sale is that it is now a legacy player (it was released before anybody could play video). I doubt very much that any further improvements will be coming....
EQ does have an effect... Maybe you earphones are not working well?

  • Creative Zen Microphoto is messing

i have a creative zen microphoto firmware version .20.0_0.00.65 and it is giving me some problems. i can get it to turn on and play but it will only play the song i had it on yesterday when it was working fine. now it is like none of the buttons will work on it. i cant get it to go to other music or even pause the song it is on. i cant even turn it off without taking the battery off. please someone help me with my problem. thanks much, alex

  • Zen Microphoto Media Explorer Playli

Just recently bought a Zen Microphoto Media Explorer for my wife. I have had an old Archos Jukebox for years, and like it a lot, but its kinda bulky now. Anyway, when I want to create a playlist for the Archos, I use Musicmatch Jukebox, which gives a lot of options on how ro order the songs - things like Order by artist, by album/track, shuffle randomly, etc. The Creative Mediasource organizer doesnt seem to have these options, forcing you to drag and drop your tracks one at a time is you want anything else than the order they are on the computer - not good when you have 000 songs on your player. So I guess my question is - is there an easier way to manage playlists. Am I missing something on the Creative MediaSource product? Can I use Musicmatch or Real Player (or something else) to create my playlists and then take them across to the player - I notice the playlist I have created has a 'zpl' suffix while MusicMatch is 'M3u'. Is there a plugin that would help? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance

Does the Micro have to be running MTP/PlaysForSure to use Real for playlist management?

  • Creative Zen Microphoto - "Firmware upgrade failed&qu

    Hi,
two days ago my Zen Microphoto started in "Recovery Mode".
I had no means of getting out. I first selected "Clean Up" and rebooted, still "Recovery Mode".
Then I downloaded the latest firmware version for it:
    ZENMicroPhoto_PCFW_L6__3_0.exe
Then I selected "Upgrade Firmware", acknowledged with "Yes", the firmware was deleted, but the windows firmware application said "no player connected" after connecting the player.
Okay, after googling a bit, I found out that I needed to downgrade from WMP to WMP 0.
I (painfully) did this and after installing an additional Registry Key via fixup.cmd the
    ZENMicroPhoto_PCFW_L6__3_0.exe
detected the player (hurray!). It showed "Current Player Firmware Version .20.0 " and "Upgrade File Version .3.0".
When clicking on "Upgrade" at the windows application, the blue progress bar appeared and the player showed "Recovery Mode" and a blinking USB logo.
What it did NOT show afterwards was a gear symbol with "Upgrading firmware" (which I found on a screenshot in the internet).
When the blue progress bar of the windows firmware upgrade application reached about 85% it halted and after minute the windows firmware application showed "Firmware upgrade failed!" while the player only showed a black screen with "Recovery Mode" and the green battery symbol at the top.
I also tried the same procedure with
ZenMicroPhotoP4S_PCFW_LB__20_0.exe with the same result: "Firmware upgrade failed!"
Any ideas how to "repair" the player
