Zen mx 16gb player not recognising id3 tags.

,zen mx 6gb player not recognising id3 tags.I recently bought a zen mx and so far can not get it to recognise over half of my mp3's id3 tags. All of the files are drm free. All of the unrecognised files will play but get stuck in the unknown artist unknown album catagory on the player. I have tried retagging the files in several diffrent tagging softwares and upgraded my player to the newest firmware and nothing seems to work. I had a creative vision m 30gb before I had this player and it never had this problem. I contacted customer support but they didnt seem to have any idea what an Id3 tag was and offered no relavent advice other then upgrade your firmware witch was upsetting to say the least. If anyone has any idea how to fix this that would be awesome. I feel like I just wasted almost 80 dollars.

0Re: zen mx 6gb player not recognising id3 tags. It's just aggravating because I used to talk the company up all the time. The older creative zen's where awesome. They played every file that I had with the exclusion of open source formats like ogg witch is understandable because I'm sure that there is not much demand for that.
I wouldn't be half as upset as I am if I felt like the support people where offering decent suggestions or even an explanation of what may be wrong. I mean are there certain id3 tags that are not recognised? At least try to explain why it may not work to me so that I can fix the problem without having to re-tag every cd that I have purchased since I was fourteen. I don't think I'm going to buy anything from them again until I see that the quality of there products is getting better. Maybe I should write a review on Amazon to warn people away, after all the majority of the music that its having problems with was downloaded from Amazon.com.
Btw if your haning the same problem as me kid3 is a program that will retag your files to this players satisfaction. Not that helps if you have a large volume of music but its at least something.

  • N8 music player not recognising music file details

    I've been using mp3tag to embed album art in the ID3 tags & also fix the album artist so I can copy the files across to my N8 in windows. It all worked fine before but now the music player just sees them as album artist & album unknown, depite this info being correct in the tag files. Any ideas? In fact I've deleted some stuff that was ok & put it back on & since going back it's not been recognised properly.
    Any help appreciated
    Nokia N8 on Belle

    I have been using muscibee to embed tag information into mp3 files on the Nokia.
    1) The trick is to use the proper version of the ID tag.
    You MUST use ID3v2.3.
    The album art can be both embedded into the mp3 files, and/or saved as folder.jpg. Embedding worked for some time, then it was changed to the folder.jpg, if I know well. Now I do both.
    Musicbee has also a lot of mp3 tagging function, also auto numbering, freedb info.
    2) If you change the tag info in the files, you must remove the files from the phone, refresh the music library (so they get deleted), then copy the files back, and refresh the music library. Otherwise, the old tag info will be present in the database.

  • ITunes not reading ID3 tags correctly

    I have an album of mp3s, all correctly ID3 tagged (WinAMP and Windows Media Player read them fine), and when I try to add it into my iTunes library, it only add it as the filename. It does not read the artist, album, or track name from the tag.
    It is strange that it is able to read some of the id3 tags but not all.
    iTunes 6.0.4   Windows XP Pro

    Something else on your system is probably changing the tag outside of itunes. For instance, WMP is set to get album info from the internet.
    iTunes isn't constantly scanning your library for any little tag change (a good thing, otherwise it would use 100% CPU all the time). When you go to play it or get Info, it DOES read the tag info.
    Then again, I might not understand your itunes preferences settings. I have mine set for itunes not to organize my files and not add them to the itunes library.

  • ITunes not recognizing ID3 tags

    Hi, I installed iTunes last night on my PC and imported all my music into it. This seemed to work OK, but quite a few of the tracks are not showing the correct information in the list (e.g. just showing the track name, and not the artist, album etc).
    I have checked and the ID3 tag info is present and correct on these MP3s - if I open it in Winamp and look at the file info I can see that the ID3v1 and ID3v2 information is all present and correct, but for some reason it is not being recognised by iTunes (on the Summary info screen for these files it says: "ID3 Tag: None").
    Is there any way I can get iTunes to recognise these tracks? I don't want to have to do it manually as there are quite a few.
    Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance, Leo.

    Leo: Yes, when I first imported my library, I found this case on several files.
    In every instance, the ID3 tag itself was corrupted. What I later discovered was as follows:
    -Corrupt ID3 tags are pretty commonplace
    -Winamp is very lenient in its tag reading capabilities
    -iTunes is not so lenient
    There's a few ways to try to fix these files (since it is a problem with the file, technically).
    -You can try to correct the tag using a good tagging program. I found Tag&Rename was capable of fixing most tags.
    -You can erase the tag and retag the file entirely. TidyMP3 will remove the tag. Tag&Rename has nice Amazon.com lookup features for retagging whole albums at once (with art!).
    But it is the tag at fault. Winamp is just incredibly forgiving, more so than any other program. And as such, it's not a good basis on which to judge the correctness of the file's tag.

  • Itunes not reading id3 tags

    For some reason, many of my songs that I imported using previous versions of itunes *specifically version 10.5* no longer are reading the ID3 tags correctly and now come up as unknown artists, unknown albums.  Is there anyway to fix this without doing each song individually as they show up correctly in Windows Media Player.  There were no issues on the original computer, however I transferred everything to my new computer and formatted the original one.

  • Rhythmbox 0.13.1 not handling ID3 tags properly from mt-daapd server

    I have an mt-daapd server (Firefly) serving a music library to various clients on my home network. My wife's Ubuntu desktop with Rhythmbox 0.13.1 reads the ID3 tags of files served with no problems (screenshot below):
    My Roku SoundBridge device can also access the files and read the ID3 tags without issue, as can iTunes on a Windows XP machine.
    However, since the the 2010-10-04 update of Rhythmbox on Arch x86_64, ID3 tags on files served by the mt-daapd server appear to be only partially readable (just the title and the genre), which results in all tracks being categorized as "Unknown" artist, album, etc. in Rhythmbox (screenshot below):
    Until the Oct 4 update, things worked well. Any ideas as to what may have changed? It does NOT appear to be an ID3 support issue on the host computer running mt-daapd, as other client devices on my network can read the tags just fine, and things only went awry after the latest update.
    Any help is much appreciated. Cheers.

    Hmmm ... PKGBUILD listed the dependency as musicbrainz-2.1.5 without any editing needed:
    pkgname=rhythmbox
    pkgver=0.13.1
    pkgrel=1
    pkgdesc="An iTunes-like music player/libary"
    arch=('i686' 'x86_64')
    license=('GPL')
    url="http://www.rhythmbox.org"
    depends=('libgpod>=0.7.93' 'libsoup-gnome>=2.31.92' 'gnome-media>=2.31.6' 'totem-plparser>=2.31.92' 'musicbrainz>=2.1.5' 'libmtp>=1.0.2' 'libnotify>=0.4.5' 'lirc-util$ ...
    I removed libmusicbrainz3 (and sound-juicer, as it depends on it) anyway. Then I rebuilt Rhythmbox with abs and reinstalled (largely because I hadn't done this sort of thing in a while), but no change.
    Thanks in advance for any other suggestions.

  • Songs Won't Play, Album Art Not Modifiable, ID3 Tags, Need Help

    I have a 32 GB iPod Touch, Windows Vista, the latest version of iTunes and Quicktime as well as the latest iPod software.
    I noticed the other day that a bunch of my songs were missing album art. I have a library with almost 7,000 songs and I have album art for everything. I went to the songs to attempt to fix the album art and noticed that it said, Album Art Not Modifiable, in the Album Art preview screen. I thought that was weird and it wouldn't let me add new album art to these albums.
    I also noticed that none of these songs would play. They wouldn't play on my iPod or on iTunes. You can click play and it looks like it's going to play, but the counter never leaves "0".
    I thought something was wrong with my files and that I would have to re rip or download the songs. However, by chance I opened one of the songs in Window Media Player and it worked, so I knew the files were fine.
    I did a search online and found several people with the same problem and a few things to try. But nothing worked until I stumbled upon a solution of setting the ID3 tags to version "None", then setting them to version 2.4. I tried it and it worked.
    But now it keeps happening, I get a new group of albums every day that won't play.
    Can anyone tell me what is causing this?
    How do I prevent it?
    Do I really need to take every song in my library and change the ID3 tags, that could take forever?
    Could anyone please help and shed some light on this.
    Thank You

    Thanks for replying, Please read our Operating System details before taking a guess about what 'could' be the problem...
    I think I figured it out anyway, Windows Media Player might be adding extra information that iTunes does not like, either Windows Media Player and/or iTunes 7.7.1 don't conform to ID3 v2.4 standards...
    Please fix your software, Apple. I know how you love to be unique and mock PC users with your one-sided advertisements but at least conform to the ID3 standards.

  • Can not edit id3 tags since upgrade to iTunes 8.1: permissions problem (?)

    Hi all,
    I am angry at myself for having upgraded to 8.1 before I knew that it's ok, and angry at Apple releasing this update with too many problems. Here is my list:
    (1) I cannot change ID3 tags within iTunes for certain tracks. I usually click on one or several tracks, press Command+i for information, then change the desired tags (e.g. genre, album, etc.) and click ok. Only that iTunes won't let me write anything. I found that I have no longer write permission to exactly these tracks (my music is on an external LaCie Firewire800 HD). What I did so far:
    - I tried to run "Repair permissions" on the internal HD.
    - I clicked on the iTunes music folder on the external hard drive, opened the information window and changed under "Sharing & Permissions" the rights to read&write for my user account. I clicked on "Apply to enclosed items", which should set the permissions to all elements within the folder.
    Any ideas? My system is freshly installed (~3weeks old), everything is updated.
    (2) Probably related to (1): certain files and documents on my internal hard drive have wrong permissions. Firefox for example is locked as read only, and I cannot update it via the "Check for update" in the help menu. I know there is an update available, as I am using 3.0.6 and the newest is 3.0.8. Repair permissions did not help. See the screen shot for the grayed out "Check for updates" menu entry.

    (3) In iTunes, I have a smart playlist in which all songs rated with four or more stars are gathered. I found songs in this list that I did not rate yet, and they all have odd "empty" stars in comparison to the songs I rated myself. What's up with that? See screenshot, some of the songs of the album "I love Jazz" have these odd stars:
    http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/8702/picture1zkg.png

    That's exactly what I did, it took ~20sec to complete the "apply to enclosed items" command (there was heavy disk access), but it does not improve. The permissions stay the same for the files/folders in question. It's very odd, have a look at the screenshot:
    Some folders have correct permissions, others (to which I have no access through iTunes) show "admin" twice as the only user who is allowed to write. Repair permission does not help. I have hundreds of files/folders where permissions are wrong, only since the upgrade recently.

  • Car not recognizing ID3 tags

    I just bought a shuffle to connect to my new car via USB port in the car. The shuffle is working fine, but some of the files are showing as empty and some are showing as an unrecognized ID3 tag, so they don't play. Out of about 100 songs on the shuffle, about 50 play. Does anyone know what version of ID3 tags I should be using? Some of the ones that work are version 2.2 and some are 2.3, so I can't figure out a pattern that would lead me to a logical solution. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • Itunes does not read id3 tags and its a problem

    Ok I have 60 gig of music and all of it is labeled correctly in id3 tags. But when i add them all to itunes some of the songs are blank with no information at all but if i go into "show in explorer" the information in the id3 tags instantly pops up. I'v searched google and found nothing so i hope someone can tell me a fix or another program to use that will organise my music like itunes does and also can put music on my ipod. So please help me with the problem.
    Thanks

    It doesn't work. I'v already tried that. I'v even tried converting the id3 tags and then removing them from the libray and adding them again. Still nothing. It might help if someone could tell me where itunes gets it information for its tags when you add music to its libray seeing as it doesn't use id3 tags for the information like any smart program does.

  • ZEN Nano Plus 1Gb Not Recognised, but 256Mb Works F

    HI all, I've searched the FAQ but can't find anything like the problem I'm experiencing here.
    I purchased a 256Mb Zen Nano Plus for my son at Christmas, and a Gb Zen Nano Plus for my wife. The 256Mb unit installed perfectly, works perfectly, no issues.
    However the Gb unit does not install correctly - Windows XP SP2 recognises it as a Creative unit, although it takes an age for it to recognise the disk dri've. It appears in device manager as a generic storage volume with no drivers installed, and does not appear under My Computer - I can't even tell what firmware version is installed.
    I've installed the correct drivers from Creative Technical Support. Have also tried to update the firmware, but the updater cannot find the Gb unit connected to the system.
    After trying various driver updates on my own PC, uninstalling the software, reinstalling, Creative support suggested it's faulty and I should get a replacement.
    Well the replacement arri'ved today and it has EXACTLY the same problems - can anyone help or advise?
    Thanks in advance,
    BT68

    Arcl, I haven't a clue what's happening - have spent the best part of 5 days fiddling and installing/reinstalling. As you say, the drivers for the 256Mb and Gb are exactly the same, so why one unit should work perfectly and the larger unit refuse to work at all, I have no idea.
    As stated elsewhere it appears to be some sort of compatibility issue, but I've tried it without ANY other USB devices connected, have updated my USB and Chipset drivers, and it's got me nowhere. Looks like I'll be getting a refund and going for a Sony player similar to my own, as although the software's clunky I know at least it works and is pretty much hassle-free.
    Why does it seem to be a problem with the Gb units though? Both cadman and Nespa in the other thread are experiencing issues with the units, I assume they're Gb too?

  • Flash Player not recognised in Safari/not installing correctly

    I have just got my OS (10.8.5) re-installed on my MacBook, there are no applications on the computer. I installed the latest version of Adobe Flash Player and then went onto YouTube and it's still saying: You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video. It's not a YouTube accout setting because I'm not signed in and it doesn't recognise flash on the Adobe site either.
    I have followed all the steps here and none of them work: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5457957
    I assume I must be installing it incorrectly? I download and upzip the file, the Adobe dialog box pops up, click on the "Install Flash Player", it installs, click complete and it opens a window to Adobe's website saying thanks for downloading.

    From the Safari menu bar, select
    Help ▹ Installed Plug-ins
    What version of "Shockwave Flash" is shown? It should be "11.9 r900".

  • DVD Player not recognising DVD Film

    I have a GB iBook with a Combo Drive.
    When I attempt to play a recently purchased DVD film I get the message "Supported Disc Not Available". The disc does not mount on the desktop.
    I am unable to get any information about the disc because the Menu 'File > Get Disc Info' is dimmed.
    I note that the DVD Player does not support HD (High Density ??) discs. Is this my problem ? - if so does it mean that I cannot play any DVD films with this Player?
    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Problem solved after I followed a suggestion which I discovered in another thread.
    Started the iBook from the system disc and then re-started from the HD and, lo and behold, the Combi drive now recognises the DVD!
    How or why this works I have no idea but if anyone else has the same problem they may wish to try this solution.

  • Creative Zen Nano mp3 player not showing on ext monitor

    I am having a problem getting an mp3 player to show in the finder when my powerbook is closed and I am working off an external monitor.
    I have a Creative Zen Nano 512 mb which shows on the desktop of my powerbook when the lid is up. Once showing I can close the lid and it will still show on an external monitor. If I eject and plug it in again, it will not show. I can restart the powerbook but I cannot connect the mp3 player to a closed powerbook and get it to show up on the external monitor. I can only get it to show in the finder when the powerbook display is functional. It will show on both.
    Anyone have info on this.
    How can I get this MP3 player plugged into the USB port, to show on the desktop viewed on the external monitor when the powerbook is closed lib?
    Thanks

    Harmz,
    I think you may get better info if you post on the Powerbook G4 12" Discussions. (I think you just hit the wrong button.)

  • Flash player not recognised?

    I'm on a website that contains videos that require Flash
    player to run. I'm getting the message "Flash 7 or above is
    required to view this content" in the space where the video should
    be. I have installed Flash Player 9 two or three times but it keeps
    saying this message. I've got Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer
    7.
    Would it be in any kind of conflict with Nero 8, AVG
    AntiVirus or PowerDVD? Or maybe something wrong with the
    registry?

    I just managed to get it working somehow. I went to this
    location on the Adobe website:-
    Global
    Storage settings panel
    OR
    Support Home -> Flash Player -> Contact Customer
    Services -> Select Product (Flash Player) -> Click Go ->
    Click "How do I set my Flash Player security?" -> Click "How do
    I prevent third parties from using Flash to track me across
    websites?" -> Click "Global Storage settings panel"
    On the following page there was a blue box asking me to
    download Flash Player again. When I clicked anywhere within the box
    but NOT on the Flash Player icon, an IE dialog appeared asking me
    if I wanted to download "swflash.cab". I downloaded that and
    installed it. I don't understand what is different between this and
    the normal ActiveX control download but Flash movies are working
    now. Does Adobe know about this problem?
