Zen Nano Plus:Random Shut-Do

Hi there,
I've had my Nano since last April and a problem just occured. The Nano keeps shutting off by itself. I'll turn it on and about 3 seconds later it shuts off. The longest time it stayed on was 2 minutes -then it shut off again. I've tried using different batteries and I have reformatedthe harddri've twice. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? It's never happened before and I can't find any information on it. Any help would be great.
I've also emailed Creative Support and they still haven't gotten back to me yet...

Thank You! When I went to the page where you choose either the Driver, Firmware, or Application before, I kept trying Driver and got no where. I just tried the Firmware and the Nano is working perfectly now. Thanks again -you saved me money from buying a new one. =)

Zen Nano Plus keep shutting d

I own a Creative Zen Nano plus 28MB, which I start to use since Jan 2006.
But since 6 months ago, the device is keep shutting down after uncertain time playing MP3 song or radio. And need several attempt to turn it on (by pressing the power button for 3 seconds). Sometime need to press until minute, or retry it over and over again.
FYI, the battery indicator is full (and i'm doubt it while the battery indicator is always displays full). But the symptom kept happening even I replace a new battery.
I've update it with latest firmware ZENNanoPlus_PCFW_L6__4_03.exe
I'm wondering if this symptom is a bug or what ? Is there any hardware error rather than just software error ?

i dunno about a deal anywhere but to look anywhere you would be best to check circuit city, fry's/outpost, walmart pretty much any big "MP3" player stores

Zen Nano Plus - WMA fi

I have a gb zen nano plus and was having problems with the unit shutting off randomly. I installed the most recent firmware, but now the player skips all licensed wma files. All mp3s now play without a problem, but the wma files won't play.
Any ideas? thanks.

Licenced WMA files... where are they from? And are they still on your computer and in the WMP or Mediasource library? If they are from a major download store, it probably thinks you are copying them. Any chance (cough cough) that you could convert them to MP3 by re-ripping them from a burned cd?

Zen Nano Plus - Used Battery vs. New Battery Prob

I downloaded some WMA files from Walmart.com and successfully transferred them to my Zen Nano Plus. They played fine. But the battery, which was already low on power, died. I switched in a new battery and tried playing WMA files, but they would only play for about three seconds before the mp3 player shut off.
I switched back in the old battery and the WMA files played just fine.
Both the old and new battery play the MP3 files, so there's no problem there.
Is the problem related to voltage or something? Please help.

Zen Nano Plus Lin In Iss

I have a Zen Nano Plus. I purchased it for recording church messages. I run the cord from the line in to the church sound board. The recording is good, however, the nano sometimes shuts down during the middle of the sermon. What would cause this problem
? Is there a special setting or fix?Please help

Sorry to hear you are having problems. There is no setting for this as this isn't normal behaviour. I'd suggest loading the latest firmware onto the unit and also checking the box "Format Data Area" when given the option to during the firmwares install.

Zen Nano Plus Playb

When I turn off my Zen Nano Plus, I want the player to resume from where I left off (usually in the middle of my audio book), but it goes back to the beginning of the file. It only started doing this recently... Is there a setting I can change so I can listen from where I left off? Thanks, Dave

It should work every time but sometimes doesn't. Others have noticed that it is more likely to resume where you finished if your pause the track first before shutting the player off.

Zen Nano Plus- help can't turn it

I bought a Zen Nano Plus back in May, it worked fine until now. Now it will turn on half way then shut right off. My computer will recognize it, but the software won't. i can use all the help.

Zen NANO Plus doesn't switch more than 2 songs

Hi i have a problem with my new Zen nano plus mp3-player...
I can only switch 2 songs. If i switch to the thrid song the player automaticly shut down.
In the config menue i can switch as long as i want and the player doesn't shut down.
I formated the player in FAT32 and in FAT - System but it doesn't work acctually (Fastformatation).
And: If i wanna call the German Service hotline (+353 4380000) i only reach an private guy. I tipped in my telephon: 353 4380000 <-- is it right? Or are there any numbers before the "+" ?

Mass Storage Drivers to save Zen Nano Plus...[HALLELUJAH SOLVEDDDD!

Okay, my Zen Nano Plus was working fine until about two days ago, when it just started shutting off. The battery was full, and I switched batteries three times, but it still wouldn't stay on. I looked through the forums, and there was advice to update the firmware. [I had ..0] I downloaded it [.3.03], and ran it, but then it said that it couldn't find the hardware for the software [or the software for teh hardware?] and I didn't know what to do, but the computer [or whatever] decided to disconnect the Nano from the comp, so there was no firmware on the player at all. And now it won't turn on.
So I looked on the forums for THAT, and it was advised to download the Mass Storage Drivers, so I did. Only I don't know if I'm supposed to double click the icon and execute the program before I do the whole "push play before connecting the player to yor computer and continue holding play for ten seconds" thing, but I did, and I don't know if I was supposed to do, and somebody please help meh because I love my Zen and if he dies I am going to die as well. And be really bored during my classes.

Dude...i have been a loyal customer of creative for years....i just updated my firmware on my nano plus and my zen shut down....no reset...nothing. i sent an email and i recieved a generic email about paying for contact help. they have lost a loyal customer and i am telling all of my friends to never buy a creative product. mine was fine and then i saw a firmware upgrade and thought, "wow, this would be great". then after installing it is useless. no help from creative at all. i have always had soundblaster cards and creative speaker systems so i figured id get their mp3 player...now i will never patronize their company again. go get an ipod. i am on payday! they will probably delete this post and deny me access to the site after this, but i am a marketing management major and this is a big No No for companies that wish to stay around. Creative will be gone in a few years if this is the service they offer.

My Zen Nano Plus turns off by its

I bought My Zen Nano Plus 3 months ago and i?m starting to having problems now. Since a couple of weeks ago it started to turn off by itself when i press any random buttom, usually it happens when i hit one of the volume buttoms. Please somebody help me with this problem.

Problem with Zen Nano Plus--Please He

I just bought a GB Zen Nano Plus about a week ago. It worked fine until I had to change the battery. Now every time I play the mp3 music it automatically shuts down. I messed around with it and I figured out that every time the backlght shuts off, so does the player. It only does this while playing mp3 music (I can isten to the radio for as long as I want). This is pretty wierd because when I use the battery that came with the player, which is almsot totally dead, it doesn't do that.
If anyone has had this problem or knows how to fix it, please respond.

Zen Nano Plus wont play for more than 5 seconds at a ti

I recently bought a new Creative Zen Nano Plus and thought I was getting a good reliable product. It synced in WMP like it should but when I unplugged it from my computer and tried to listen to the songs it will boot up and start playing a song but then shut off 3 seconds later. I formatted it and updated the firmware and drivers on the player and my computer but it still wont play for more than a few seconds at a time. I tried changing the battery and leaving it plugged in but neither of the above worked. I would appreciate some help. Thanks.

Zen Nano Plus 1gb turns off .

I've had my player since September 2005 and have NEVER had any trouble out of it until 2 days ago. The problem...When I am listening to a track and use the wheel to back it up and listen to it again or the track before it, the player shuts off. I've been reading the posts here and realize I probably need some new firmware but which one do I need. Also my daughter has a 52 mb player that started doing the same thing.

The new firmware for the Zen Nano Plus is available on the Downloads page, it was released on the 25th of August. It includes this fix:
Resolves the issue of your player (battery level full) turning off, while playing a 28 kbps DRM-protected WMA file. </LI>
Please note that (as it states in the details fiel) this firmware does remove your player's FM recording feature.

Zen Nano Plus 512MB Crash/Fre

The Zen Nano Plus 52 MB loads correctly, ans all the menus work, EXCEPT, the Play Mode option. What I do is I am able to 'click' on the pPlay Mode option, and it will bring the menu up, but the instant I try to scroll left, right, click, or press any other button on the player, it shuts off instantly. I've used 5 diffrent batteries, 3 headphones, I've formatted the player twice, and have re-installed the drivers from the CD. I am unable to load the updates, as I have Win 98, and they're not supported on that OS. This is also the second one of these players that I've had during my warrenty period, which ends Sept 3, the first one being returned due to an unfixable 'popping' noise during mp3 playback. So, my questions to you, loyal moderators, are #. What do you suggest I do about this? Should I send it to the factory? Should I take it to a friends house and attempt to load the drivers on his Windows XP? #2. Should I trust Creative to get it's act together after having two defecti've players, and ship me a working one? #3. If the answer to #2 is 'no', can I get my money back?
Thank you for reading, and hopefully fielding my question. I eagerly await a responce to help me with my plight.

There is a firmware for the Nano, but you'll have to email Creative Tech Support for it.
Get the firmware, and take it to your friend's Windows XP, as I'm not sure the firmware works on Win 98 (I think only 98SE at the earliest)

A firmware reload of any version normally solves that problem - at least for a while.
The firmware listed in this thread has been replaced by a later version - this thread was useful when the firmware wasn't available except from Support. Go to the Support, Downloads section to get the latest version.
