Zen Nano skips songs between playing

i own 2 zen nano's and both of them have been skipping songs randomly between playing... for example, it'll play -2 minutes of a particular song, then it skips to something else... then it'll come back to the original song...what's going on?
i've changed batteries and all!!

>mojitocrazy: thanks for responding to my post... i have a MAC (...)
>i have 2 zen nano's... one of them is a year old and it has never given me problems and >i've always used the same method of downloading
>JUST RECENTLY it started acting nuts!
>the second player is a brand new and is giving the same problem..,
Hello again,
My NANO worked just for 22 days after I got it...
Then the flash memory corrupted and I was unable to delete/update files...
During the time it was working good, I experienced some mp3 files were incompatible with this player: BUT such files were simply ignored and the first next valid song was played instead. This is not really a shame for NANO because there are a lot of mp3 codec variants so, sometimes even the best player for PC fails to play...
But the strange behaviour of your NANO is not clear to me...
Theory :
May be the file sistem has logical errors. So, the files are randomly chained and the player is playing some data from the first song, some from the next song and then from the first song again(?)
Long time ago, I had an HDD crash. It was a software crash due to windows halted while writing the File Allocation Table. The result was all my movies, stored on HDD, get mixed togheter! Incredible...
->If you clear the files from NANO and then upload them again in a different order, the songs play bad in the same manner or it depends on the position in the memory?
Theory 2:
your firmware got damaged in some parts while you was upload mp3 files and now the program is corrupted...
Both cases randomly happened because the NANO firmware is bugged and bad designed in the file handling, I think...

  • Skipping songs without playing

My iPod has started skipping songs without playing them. As soon as you select play it skips each song until it the end of the play list - is this a hardware fault?

I had the same problem myself. Not being especially proficient with computers, I eventually simply removed the songs files from my ipod (and library). After reinstalling the files, everything worked fine. Perhaps this is a symptom of a larger problem, but so far so good. Hope this helps somewhat.

  • Plsss help!! updated but not nano kept skipping songs when played!!!!!!!

so i got my 2gb nano and its been working great all the time. until i saw my sis's new black 2gb nano (everythg the same , same model , same itunes , just the color is black) and i begged her to trade with me.
so on my itunes it showed my sis's nano , i ignored it and just continued uplaoding songs. it worked quite well on the first day except when it was adapted to the computer , u can only listen to the music in library but not her nano.
BUT then thgs happened! i wanted to edit the songs in it a bit so i connnected it again. every steps is just exactly normal. but when i listen to the nano , it won't play at all. there are exact songs in it but it kept skimming thru songs. i tried everythg! i re-updated it , i re-set the nano , i re-installed itunes but still it goes on skimming

  • IPod nano skipping song

Hi all. I downloaded a song from the itunes music store and uploaded it it my nano (1gb), after about 16-19 seconds, it will skip to the next song. I have checked the settings for it on itunes, tried the 5 r's and taken it out from the library and added it again but to no prevail. The song will play all the way through on 2 computers. Any help will be greatly accecpted. Thanks
Self Built   Windows XP Pro   1GB iPod Nano, XP desktop + laptop (painfully saving for a 17" Core 2 Duo iMac)

I too am having songs getting cut off problem on a gen1 Nano. I've read through the Apple discussions and I've tried the 5R's several times, rebuilt the iTunes library, completely reformating the nano by writing zeros over the data, restoring back to an earlier version (1.1 and 1.2) and still the same thing. Digging into this further, I find the same songs do not cut off on my G2 20gig iPod, only on the Nano. I only started noticing this problem when I updated to iTunes 7 and the iPod updates that went with it- it doesn't mean the problem wasn't happening earlier, just that I wasn't noticing it.
Digging still further, I find only a few songs have this problem (I've found 7 out of out >4,200) and that they seem to match up. Song A stops ~30 sec before the end and song B stops ~30 sec from the beginning. Song C stops ~54 sec from the end and song D stops ~54 sec from the beginning. Further, these 7 songs were all downloaded from iTMS between 9/17/05 and 12/11/05 (I bought a total of 30 songs during that period, but have only found 7 that are afflicted so far).
Lastly, if I burn those songs to disk as an MP3 and reimport them, the songs play in their entirety. Sadly no solutions here, just observations.

  • Zen Nano Plus won't play MP3, can't convert to WMA, tried new firmw

    Help!
I have just reloaded the firmware (and all my music) onto my Zen Nano Plus and it didn't fix my problem.
I have mostly .wma files and they play fine. I have tried to load .mp3 files but my player just skips them. I tried using the Organizer software to convert the .mp3 files to .wma files and it says they are converted but I get about min of each song and that's it.
    So I don't know why I can't play .mp3 files and I also don't know why the .mp3's can't be fully converted to .wma's.
    Can anyone help?Thanks in advance,Marci

Wave files will only play by tricking the player into thinking that they are wav files created by the voice recorder. Put wav file into a folder called Recorded Tracks and see if it plays. This will at least see if it will play something. How did you transfer your files?Try ripping a CD to wma files using MediaSource or Windows Media Player - sometimes the firmware gets in a twist and will play mp3s but not wmas, or vice versa. The solution to that is to reload the firmware - go to the Support->Downloads link at the top of the page to get the latest firmware for your player. Protected songs (wma files with DRM) need to be transferred using WMP or MediaSource to transfer the license across, but mp3 files can be drag'n'dropped in Windows Explorer. A protected song without a license will give the symptoms you detail. As it's duff from the start you might just want to take it back - but it's worth trying the firmware reload first to save you some bother. PB

  • 5th generation Nano skipping songs.

I bought a 5th generation iPod nano off eBay after my 3rd generation Nano started skipping songs. My new iPod is now skipping the same songs, but the songs play fine on my computer. I have tried rebooting, restarting and converting some to AAC but not to any effect. Can anyone help me?

No same problem here can't get apple to help since it costs 30 bucks to talk to someone.

  • Zen Nano Plus will not play all trac

My Nano Plus will not playback all tracks installed. My Firmware has been updated to .0.03I have formated the Nano Plus via Windows Explorer.
Tracks have been transferred via Windows Media Player 0 AND Creative MediaSource Organizer 3.30.2 with the same problem. The NanoPlus Mass
Storage Driver has been updated, too. I have tried it on both a desktop AND a notebook PC. The transferred tracks are combinations of WMA and MP3. Both played and unplayed tracks are a combination of
    WMA-protected, WMA-nonprotected, and MP3, 28/59/60/92kbps -
nothing unique about the tracks that will not play.
The tracks have either been ripped from my audio CDs or downloaded via Media Player MSN Music store or MP3 store. I have licensed all tracks and they all play via Windows MediaPlayer and Creative MediaSource Player from my hardri've.
All tracks show up on the Zen Nano Plus in windows explorer and will play from the NanoPlus via Media Player and Creative MediaSource player, but they will not all play through the NanoPlus.
All problem tracks (if transferred via
MediaSource) will either be skipped or the NanoPlus will pause when the NanoPlus is playing or they simply are not
    visible (if transferred via MediaPlayer0).
The problem tracks are not always the same tracks after I have re-transferred them (I have tired 4
times to clean/re-transfer tracks). I have 8 tracks and only 36 will play. When transferred via Windows MediaPlayer0, the tracks are organized into multiple folders. When transferred via Creative MediaSource, they are all in the root directory.
What can I do to get this to work properly?

    That may be it!
My tracks have been transferred with WMP0 into the following Folder structure:
    MUSIC-AUTHOR-ALBUM-Tracks.
In Explorer/MediaSource, there is One MUSIC folder containing 65 AUTHOR folders containing 74 ALBUM folders containg 85 Tracks.
My Zen Nano Plus MENU-MUSIC display shows only 3 Folders -- 3 ALBUM Folders of 36 Tracks -- the tracks that do playback.
Is this just an organizational problem?
If so, it's not very handy to Sync....there is nothing in the manual that explains this!
    I'll re-organize and see.
What is the best FOLDER structure to use?

  • Zen Nano PLus song list probl

I had transferred about 00 songs into my zen nano plus but when I played it, I realised that I had lost alot of songs. Check the system info and it states that I have only 34 songs in the player. When i check back on my pc, it indicates that i have 00 songs in my player.
I owned the gb version and have only transferred less than half of its capacity.
I have the updated firmware and driver installed and my songs are all mp3 format. Therefore there shouldn't be a reason the player can't play my songs.
    Thanks,

So after I posted my initial qns, I went through the forums and found out that flash based players couldn't handle too many folders. I had transferred my songs using wmp sync and by doing so, the player created folders for each individual artist and broke down further into albums. This would have been great for hdd players but not for flash based ones.
What I did was to just transfer the songs individually using the explorer. It's a tad hassling but it doesn't create all those folders.
Hope that this help for any other new users of zen nano plus or flash based player. Feel a bit idiotic answering my own question though.
Jaded_Whisper if you have any more questions, you could pm me. I could try to help you with all my newbie expertise. LoL

  • ITunes Radio is not working on my iPhone 4S running iOS 7. It endlessly skips songs without playing anything.

Anyone else having issues with iTunes Radio on their iPhone? Mine skips songs endlessly and won't play anything.

First, make sure you have an above average connection, either via Wi-Fi or cellular coverage.  Second, do a soft reset on your phone by pressing and hold the home button and then press and hold the lock button (on top) for about 10-12 seconds until the white Apple logo appears on the screen.
This will do a reset of your phone, but you will not lose anything.
    Good luck!

  • HELP!!! Mini is SKIPPING SONGS when playing, and on boombox!!!

When I play songs on my mini or on the boombox, it skips songs. I have a windows xp. Is anyone else having problems? Have they been fixed? Somebody help me!

    hey!
My ipod does the same thing sometimes...but good news i have a solution that works!!!! it only happens to mine when i download new songs sometimes, but what you have to do is take those songs off your ipod ( not your library , just the ipod) and then put them back on again. This always fixes the problem!! it maybe that the files are corrupted when the were loaded on to the ipod, but doing this will fix the problem

  • Help- nano skipping songs

    Hi everyone,
I am a very un-technical Mum and have no idea what is wrong with my daughters i pod nano but a couple of months ago it started to skip songs and go onto the next track for no apparent reason. It is only 10 months old so should still be under warranty- i bought it direct from apple.com.
I bought it over 90 days ago so it looks like I cannot have a technical help phone call but not sure how to contact them for support. Just found this forum and wondered if any of you kind souls could help me out.
PS The reply must be "idiot proof" because I really am clueles about these things!

Thanks for your advice but have lost the instruction book and don't know how to reset, then take the songs off and load them back again- could you talk me thru the steps-PLEASE!!!
Is that 1800 number only valid in the states?

  • My 4th Generation Nano skips songs and won't play some of them

So, over the past couple of days while I put my 4th Generation Nano on Shuffle mode, it will skip over some songs. Not a delayed reaction, but... say I skip one song. Then it'lll skip over a few, and when I hit the back arrow, it won't play it.
Also, as an example, I was listening to Alesana, then it suddenly switched to Disturbed, then skipped over it, and started to play Bullet For My Valentine. When I went to go click back to play Disturbed, it wouldn't play and skipped back to BFMV.
    Help?
And one more thing, my iPod has been also doing this weird thing where it will say it's playing one song, then be playing another. Such as... it will say it is playing Apology by Alesana, and really be playing Guarded by Disturbed.
Is there any possible way to fix this? I've tried restoring it on iTunes, and reseting my iPod multiple times. It's only 3 years old, I don't want to have to bury it this soon! D:
    -Trisha

If that didn't work you should try downloading the Latest iPod Updater and then Restoring the iPod to factory settings.

  • My 6 Gen Nano skips songs completely...??? Plays in Itunes

So.. ..My ipod was working fine untill one day.. it decided to only play certain songs...
I can choose a song, and it will completely just skip over it, wont even play for 1 second.
ALL songs play in Itunes. All songs are from CD's
Yet, apple says there is nothing wrong with my ipod.
I've reseted it, restored to factory setting, updated the version... nothing helps
    I WANT MY SONGS

One thing you can try is import using error correction. You would have to delete the songs out of iTunes first.
-Click edit, prefrences, then import settings, put a check in error correction, then click done.
    -Reimport the CD then test.
One good step to try is: sync the album with a different ipod. This will rule out the ipod as the culprit.
    Hope this helps.

  • Ipod Nano skipping songs... IPod or ITunes issue?

I purchased an IPod Nano and signed up for ITunes. I purchased a CD from ITunes and synced it with my IPod. That worked fine except for one huge issue - the IPod skips right over 5 out of the 12 songs on the CD! The songs play fine through my computer (Windows XP Pro SP2), just not on the IPod.
Is this an IPod issue or an ITunes issue? Has anyone dealt with this before?
    Tony

Have you had a chance to look at these troubleshooting pages? They may be of some help:
