Zen Neeon 6GB (USB Probl

Hi,
I bought a zen neeon 6gb a few days ago. There were no problems at first but now.......
When I plug it into my laptop, it's as if nothing was plug in!
Same thing when I used the desktop in my office, I've changed another usb cable, I've pushed the reset button & nothing seems to work. Downloaded "Zen Neeon Firmware .0", also didn't work.
So what now? I'm still waiting for the support team to reply my email.

Does the player turn on, or doesn't it respond at all? Was the battery run down all the way?
Regarding your e-mail, did you use the form on the website, and did get an auto-response back? You should always get an automated e-mail back with some tips, if they don't help, check over the e-mail as you generally need to reply to that to let them know, so someone will deal with you directly.

  • Zen neeon 6GB problem

    Hai
I have a Zen Neeon 6GB and Iam frequently facing malfunctioning of the player. Sometimes the player is generating heat and the total battery is going to dry. i used it until it was out of battery and went to charge it up on my computer, i plug it into my USB cable, and when i looked at the screen all i get is the "CREATIVE" logo, it wont change.. i unplug it and try to turn it on, i either get the 'no battery' symbol and it switches off, or usually i jus get the 'CREATIVE' logo and it just sits there.. this is VERY frustrating and i hope theres something that can be done
    Please help me.

There is no "replace" battery warning, Because of the type of battery it is when they are to the point of needing replacement the main sign besides not holding a charge or short battery time usage is heat. As electronics go heat is not your friend. I have not seen any instructions on how to open your player but if you Google it you may find some. The only way to find out what battery you need to replace is to get it open to look at it since it is an internal one.http://www.batteryuni'versity.com/parttwo-34.htm I don't know if this will help much no pictures. http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...09&postcount=8

  • Zen Neeon 6GB, charging via AC Adapt

I have Zen Neeon 6GB player. When I connect my player to Creative's AC charging adapter there is no indiacation of charging. But when I connect it to my computer's usb port the battery icon flashes. Is it charging or not?

It appears that generic usb chargers do not work properly with the micro photo.
It has to do something with the micro photo's usb jack not being entirely compatible with them. The device isnt recieving enough power using these chargers.
I tried quite a few, none worked.
It seems that if the micro photo isnt pulsing, its not being charged properly.
When I connect it to my dvd player through usb, it does indeed pulse and charges at normal speed.
I'm afraid that the only way is to buy the original charger from creative...

  • Zen Neeon 6GB..... DEAD

Hope somebody can help out here, I'm at my wits end!
Got my new Zen Neeon 6GB one week ago. Installed all the software, hooked the player up to a USB port, charged it up, and had a few days of problem-free listening.
The battery was very low this morning so I hooked it up to a USB to recharge. Only this time my laptop will not recognise the device at all! It does not come up as an extra dri've on my "My Computer", and it is nowhere to be found on any device list.
To make things worse the battery is so low that the player will not switch on at all. So basically what it does is:
When connected to the laptop the word "Creative" appears on the display, but with no backlights, and no other button has any effect at all. The device is not read anywhere, and apart from the Creative logo could be considered dead as a dodo.
When not connected to the laptop, I push the on button, the Creative logo appears very briefly, followed by a very quick glimpse of the "battery needs recharging" symbol, then it cuts off completely. No other button has any effect.
I have reset the player a couple of times. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the softwear, and still no joy. I am really cheesed off that this kinda thing is happeneing only a week after buying it, I had been told that Creative were reliable?
Anyway, any help would be very gratefully received.
    Merry Christmas!

I have used Zen Neeon 6GB for the last 2 years untill a few months ago. I do not remember having any issues connecting to the computer. But I do know that when you connect, you don't need to turn it on via the on button. It the connection is auto detected and the player turns on on its own. Sometimes computers can't detect devices you might want to try disconnecting and connecting again (I know this may not be your case). You should get the charger to charge it via socket, it is much more efficient and less troublesome. You could also try connecting to other computers. You may also try posting this problem on PC Help forums to seek advice on device detection, they would likely be able to help.

  • Zen Neeon 6gb - audio blips after changeing

hey, i have had my Zen Neeon 6gb since the 24th of June, up untill about two weeks ago i was running Windows ME , the player was working fine, just recentaly i have changed OS to Windows XP professional and now, whenever i copy a song onto my player, it has really annoying audio blips and skips in every single track. Most of the music on my new computer has been copyed off my other useing my player, and it all plays fine, its only when i goto play it on my player.
Please Help, im really annoyed at this
PS: i have tried re-installing drivers and formatting the player, i even have the latest firmware, nothing is working!!!Message Edited by mischala on 2-02-200607:2 PM

I had the same problem. I was using the zen neeon as a mobile dri've (as in, copying stuff over to it through windows explorer). If you use the creative mediasource application to copy music to the player instead, it solves the audio blip problem completely. I hate having to use the software when the dri've is accessible in explorer but at least it isn't as annoying as itunes.

  • ZEN NEEON 6GB - SNR changed to 98

Recently, Creative had added a 6GB Zen Neeon to their Mp3-player segment. I noticed that the Signal-to-Noise Ratio of this new player has changed from 90 dB to 98 db! Is this a fault on the new specifications page, or was this intended? (so, the new Zeeon has a new sound chip in it or something?)
    My questions to Creative:
Is the SNR of the Zen Neeon really 98 db?</LI>
Is the new 6GB Zen Neeon still laggy as the Neeon 5GB in menus, or less laggy?</LI>
    Thank you for your reply!

  • Zen Neeon 6GB Prob

Hey guys, I recently got a Zen Neeon for christmas, It was working BRILLIANTLY without error up until yesterday, i used it until it was out of battery and went to charge it up on my computer, i plug it into my USB cable, and when i looked at the screen all i get is the "CREATIVE" logo, it wont charge.. i unplug it and try to turn it on, i either get the 'no battery' symbol and it switches off, or usually i jus get the 'CREATIVE' logo and it just sits there.. this is VERY frustrating as i cannot li've without my mp3 player (seriously).. Thanks for your time.. i hope theres something that can be done,Neil

Do you lose all your songs if you reset it's And is the reset button the little hole under the 'hold' button?
Yes the little hole next to the hold switch is the reset button. You can use a pin or needle to press it down. However, don't jab it too hard like I did because I think I sort of dislodged the button. But it still works.. for now. And no you shouldn't lose any of your songs. Although the first time I reset my Neeon the music folder I was in it caused problems. It wouldn't delete and when I tried to access it on my player, the player froze. But that is just another problem altogether.
If I remember correctly there is some firmware update for the Neeon that reduces chances of freezing, and should be downloadable from somewhere on this website.
I found that freezing occurred the most when it was used for a long time, or when it heated up in hot weather or in my pocket.
    Hope that helped!

  • Zen Neeon 6GB (Micro-HD Version) Setup for New Harddisk

    Dear all Zen Buddy,
My Zen Neeon have been with me for more than 4 years, and recently just drop from table and has death certified.
I have bought a 4gb hd new brain for it, hope anyone of you can please guide me possible to install it from scratch?

    Dorothy,
    Congratulations!!!
You have worked hard to select a strong build and tuned the system well. Your system seems to perform VERY well and you certainly have not broken the bank to get to that level.
I just checked PPBM5's site and your are #2 on the CS6 list performance board. So, I don't think that you need to do much else; it is time to put the PC to work! Also agree PPBM5 is a great tool - thanks Harm and Bill!!!
Regarding the Areca, I don't think that it would get you much more speed unless you added more drives. I do love having mine, but it is more for the security of the redundant parity RAID protecting me from any data loss if a single drive were to die.
And finally, I can't imagine not being on the www; you should probably get a good virus protection and get back on. I would not expect that with as much CPU power and RAM as you have that virus protection (set up correctly) would impact you performance in any noticeable way.
    Regards,
    Jim

  • Creative Zen Neeon 6GB filesystem error on Li

    Hi there,
First off, I have had no problem with the Zen Neeon in the past on Linux, has worked perfectly. However, now the mp3 player says it has a Filesystem error and shuts down. Is there anyway to format or fix this problem for Linux? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeriko

Well, good news. There is a simple way to fix my above problem if you're running Linux. Thought I better post it here incase someone has the same trouble. Simply open up your terminal and create a windows filesystem on the mp3 player device. For example, my mp3 player was dedicated to /dev/sda, you'd do this:
    mkdosfs /dev/sda
And that should do it. Check the man page (man mkdosfs) for more info.
    Cheers,

  • Zen Micro 6gb installation probl

Ok, so Iv'e sent in a 5 gb zen micro twice now because of that headphone jack problem, and this time when they sent me a new one, they "upgraded" me to a 6gb. Well, I try to use this 6gb with the software i have installed from the last Micro I had, and my comp will not recognize it. So I try to user the cd that came with my old Micro, and it will not install right. When they sent me this 6gb, the only thing they sent me was the Micro and its battery, so I have no way to know if the cd that comes with a new 6gb is different form a 5gb cd, because if it is, then am I screwed?

A firmware basically is what makes an electronic device tick. It is the software responsible for every and all functions.
The Zen Micro has two versions of firmwares:
The original version works with Creative's own protocol and thus needs the installation of drivers for the system to recognize it. However it will function with all Windows versions while there also is unofficial support for Linux and MAcOS.
The second version functions using MTP, a protocol made by Microsoft and as such it is only supported by Microsoft's Windows Media Player 0 under OSs that support it (which basically only are WinXP and Vista...)
The simplest way to see which firmware you have is to look in the Micros' menu under System->Information. There you'll see firmware version.
If they both have version (..0 being the latest) then you'll need drivers for the both. As I already said, when I tried to update the drivers without uninstalling the old ones the drivers were installed but they wouldn't work.
First of all make sure the player(s) is(are) connected to the PC FIRST.
Mind you, in my case the latest drivers were already installed (I updated them but then they wouldn't work, remember?). Now here's the thing:
When I opened the drivers properties I saw that the driver was DISABLED. (under General, device usage)
Ok, I enabled it, nothing happened. Then I tried to update the drivers. Here's what I did:
I put the CD with the original drivers in the dri've and selected for windows to look for the best drivers. After some time they indeed appeared to have found a better match and then they started installing them. After the installation was complete the driver's version was the same as rhe one BEFORE the "update" (since I had already updated to the latest version). However the moment the drivers were updated the device was finally recognized by the system, not even a reboot was needed...
You could try doing that too, if that won't work then you could try DLing the LATEST drivers (along with the Zen Micro Explorer) and install them AFTER uninstalling the old ones and REBOOTING. Again, it is important having the player(s) connected BEFORE starting the installation.
If after all that you still can't connect it ask again!
    Cheers!Message Edited by Keyper7 on 02-9-200604:37 PM

  • Creative Zen Neeon 6gb Reset But

Does pressing the reset button delete all your songs? And is it the little hole below the hold switch?PS: Anyone solved the freezing of the screen issue yet? Or the speed problem (takes ages to change between songs)?Cheers

  • Zen Neeon Batt

Help PleaseCan anyone tell me how I can get a new battery for my Zen Neeon 6GB, one month after warranty it has crashed and only shows the Creative symbol when connected to the computer (the computer doesnt even recognise it as being connected) and a large?empty battery icon in the middle of the screen when not connected, it wont charge or do anything - Creative want AUD$40.00 to have it serviced - is there anyway this can be done without the massi've cost. I have done all the downloads and upgrades etc, tried other USB...Will never get another Creative again

Is there a way to check if your battery is fully charged without disconnecting the usb cable and turning the player on?
I don't own a Neeon, but is there no onscreen indicator of charging?
I'm wonder if disconnecting while its charging could harm the battery in any way or stop it from properly charging.
    It won't cause any problems.
I've also noticed that sometimes even though the usb cable is connected the backlight is not on and the little wave (on the zen screen) doesn't move, there is just a line, at these times does it mean its not charging?
Ah, it sounds like it does show something. Normally the manual has a list of the charging icons, but if it's a little line with a plug on the end that means with all the other players that it's operating off the mains and has finished charging.

  • Brand new Zen Neeon[literally less than a day old] extremely sl

    Hey there,
Firstly, Merry Christmas to you all(although by the time you read this it will be a tad late...) and a happy and peaceful New Year.
    Down to business.
I was given a Zen Neeon (6GB) as a gift today. I installed the software correctly, charged the player through my PC using the provided USB cable, and copied a collection of music from my hard dri've to the player.
I fired it up, thrilled that I finally had an mp3 player that didn't act temperamentally by switching off as soon as the battery was touched, switch from 'play all' to 'shuffle' at random times, and moved from one track to the next ever-so-slowly and so on.
At first, things were great. Sound is quite good, menu response is swift, and the settings are good. However, as soon as I attempt to PLAY a track, it's like something inside the player just...doesn't. It takes roughly ten to fifteen seconds for it to respond to me pressing 'play', and going from one track to the next takes as much time, if not more. I mean, this is silly. It's a brand new product, charged and ready, it shouldn't take 5 seconds just to move from track 7 to track 8, surely? During this time it doesn't respond to any other buttons, either. The display will sit on the second last second of the track duration for this time, and then suddenly switch to the next track.
My question is this: is this a common problem with the Neeon? Has anyone else experienced this? And most importantly, is it actually a problem? Or is the Neeon just this slow and non-responsi've by nature?
    Thanks, guys.

Hey i have the same zen neeon 6gb, and im having the same problem - especially when the play is set on shuffle. did you find anything out about what is causing the problem?

  • Zen Neeon freezing iss

I recieved a Creative Zen Neeon 6GB last friday, and it was working perfectly until yesterday.
Now, when I tried to turn it on yesterday, it simply went to the CREATIVE logo screen, and then got stuck there. I tried resetting it, but it continues, every time. I left it alone for a while, and now it shows a low battery logo when I try to turn it on. So, I tried to plug it in to my computer today to charge it, and it got stuck on the CREATIVE screen then too. I've tried everything available in the pinned message on this board, but I can't seem to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

If you can't get into rescue mode then the player sounds faulty.
There no point in contacting support three times, it just wastes resources as they'll have to close the duplicate requests or may even answer them unwittingly.
You need to wait for the autoresponse email from support, then reply to that, and allow some days for a response. Particularly over the Christmas period.

  • Zen Neeon Trou

I've had my Zen Neeon (6GB) for about 2 months and have recently started having problems with it. When playing it has started taking a much longer time to change songs almost like it's freezing in between song changes and when this happens it takes a few goes before being able to turn it off. I originally thought it might have something to do with the battery, but it doesn't seem to be anything connected to it. Any help would be great. Thanks!Message Edited by steph0202 on 0-03-2007:09 PM

I am having the same problem with my Zen Neon (6GB). It starts up very slow and takes a long time to load different screens. It actually stopped playing songs now. Seems like it has trouble?loading the songs. The radio FM works though. Please advise someone how to fix it. I tried?resetting but?the same problem?continues. Please?advise. Thanks.
