There should be an option in the system tray to stop the device so it's safe to remove. I think Window Explorer's Eject function is the same though.
Do you have Win 98 or Win 98 SE? SE has proper USB support from what I remember, and Win 98 the original version is not supported.

This is probably just the chipset initialising when starting up, and interference when the player is functioning. I assume it's relati'vely quiet? It shouldn't be very loud.

  • A Creative Zen MP3 Player which can work on Windows 2

    Hi,
I am wanting to get a Creative Zen MP3 player (or two) which can work with Microsoft Windows 2000. I want to put a number of podcasts on it as well as some music. Unfortunately my PCs are all Windows 2000 and it is not worth my while upgrading.
Now I think that some of the Creative Zen Micro units used to work on 2000. But later versions after firmware upgrades only work on XP. How can I get the right working units?
    AK

You can try to get some old Zen players. All new Zen players need at least Windows XP to work and sometimes even the last service pack. If you know that the Zen Micro works on Windows 2000 with a previous firmware, I think that you can find easily on the web this firmware or simply ask to Creative.

  • How do I export My Windows XP's WMP's PLAYLIST to my Zen MX player?

    Hi,
I have PLAYLISTS in my Windows Media Player. I can transfer files to my Zen MX. However, I don't know How to export My Windows XP's WMP's PLAYLIST to my Zen MX player? Can anyone help me?

Thanks for your replies. It amazes me that there are people in this forum who would take time from their busy schedule to answer my questions. What do you guys do for a living?
What version of WMP are you using? If it is WMP got to sync tab >in the left-side colum click on playlists & right-click the playlist you want to sync to player & choose "add to sync list" then connect player & start sync.
That's exactly what I did. The mp3 files transferred from WMP to Zen's folders, but not the playlists. In fact, my Zen did not have a Playlist folder displayed in WMP. Can you tell me if yours does?
Also, can you tell me if it is better to use WMP to sync my Zen MX or is it better to use Creative's Centrale software?
Have you tried copying from you computer and paste directly to your zen?
Yes, but WMP creates *.wpl as playlist files while the zen creates *.mpu3. My Zen MX does not seem to recognize? *.wpl.

  • Help! I can't rip songs to my neeon 2 on Windows Vista!

    Hello,
I own a Zen neeon 2 for several years already and organizing my musics on my old computer has been perfectly fine. However, I recently got a new laptop and it has Windows Vista. I successfully installed the software needed to start my neeon2 media explorer. The explorer allows me to organize my musics and videos but it would not let me rip songs. I've tried several different CDs and it's the same. I also tried my MP3 on another computer that has Vista and the same thing happened -- it would not let me rip songs. Then I tried it on my brother's computer which has Windows XP, and it lets me rip songs. So I'm assuming that the problem is that my player is not compatible with Vista.
Is there a software I can download from Creative to fix this problem? I tried to search for firmware update for my Neeon2 but I found none. I found firmware updates for Neeon but not Neeon2.
Please help me! I've been searching the support website tediously and frustratingly for a long time already, and I still can't find a solution. My main source of musics is from CDs! So not being able to rip songs means no more new musics!!!

rip them to the computer & load to the player.

  • Zen Neeon 6gb - audio blips after changeing

hey, i have had my Zen Neeon 6gb since the 24th of June, up untill about two weeks ago i was running Windows ME , the player was working fine, just recentaly i have changed OS to Windows XP professional and now, whenever i copy a song onto my player, it has really annoying audio blips and skips in every single track. Most of the music on my new computer has been copyed off my other useing my player, and it all plays fine, its only when i goto play it on my player.
Please Help, im really annoyed at this
PS: i have tried re-installing drivers and formatting the player, i even have the latest firmware, nothing is working!!!Message Edited by mischala on 2-02-200607:2 PM

I had the same problem. I was using the zen neeon as a mobile dri've (as in, copying stuff over to it through windows explorer). If you use the creative mediasource application to copy music to the player instead, it solves the audio blip problem completely. I hate having to use the software when the dri've is accessible in explorer but at least it isn't as annoying as itunes.

  • Zen Neeon H

when my zen neeon play some mp3 file it get's hang, i scanned with Norman antivirus and it hang when scanned the same file, when i deleted it hang again(connected PC).but it's ok playing the other mp3 file, help me...
can i formated the mp3 player from windows explorer(FAT)?
or any ather way to fix it's
i had it for 5 month.
    so please help me....

Does it hang with the same file? If so, it's the file and not your player. Some files could be corrupt or just a format that players have trouble with (like WMA DRM in some cases). If that's the case, remove the file and it should be fine.

Re: zen neeon firmware needKHello Inshafrockz,
    Welcome to Creative forums!
You may need to look for a computer with an older OS that works with the firmware update. Check the requirements under the release notes. The (compatible) OS for you to run the firmware is listed there.
For ZEN Neeon 52MB/ GB/ 2GB? the requirements are:
Microsoft? Windows? XP, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium or Windows 98 Second Edition<
USB . port (USB 2.0 recommended for faster transfers)<
    For ZEN Neeon 5GB/ 6GB?:
Microsoft? Windows? XP, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium Edition (Me) or Windows 98 Second Edition (SE)<
Available USB port (version . or higher)<
    Hope this hel
    ps.

  • Zen Neeon questi

Hi. I've got some questions about the Zen Neeon. Hope existing users can help me.
) Does the Zen Neon appear as an external hard dri've? Is it possible to just transfer files directly to the player like a thumbdri've without any additional software?
    2) Does the Zen Neon record files to wav or mp3 format?
    3) How is the recording quality of the Zen Neon like? is it good enough to record in a lecture theatre?

    yusuke,
. Yes the Zen Neeon function just like the other MuVo series using UMS(Mass storage) so you can just plug it in and use your Windows Explorer to transfer the files to the player. But if you wish to create playlist, then you will need to use the bundled software to do so.
    2. It can record both in Wav(32kbps) and MP3(96kbps, 28kbps and 60kbps).
    3. The player builtin microphone are cater more for personal close range recording. Gi'ven the big size of a lecture hall, the result might not be as good.

  • Zen Neeon disappointm

I had problems with my neeon player. Costumer support suggested the ff.
For instruction about your specific player, please refer to <A href="]How to access the recovery mode of my Creative MP3 Player? [/url]</LI>
Once in Recovery Mode, select <B>Format </B>(see the image below).</LI>
    When asked to <B>Continue</B> select <B>Yes </B></LI>
When Formating has completed and unit returns to <B>Recovery Mode</B>, repeat the <B>Format</B> process again</LI>
After the second Format, select Reboot option</LI>
Allow the unit to rebuild the library.</LI>
    Then upgrade the Firmware</LI>
All I see is the Creative logo on the player. My player is still frozen.
Help, as customer support still hasn't got back to me.

The player was fine for the first few months. I got it in August. It keeps crashing when I'm uploading files. I always have to format the dri've to upload all my songs again. This can be very annoying. I've updated the firmware so I'm hoping that is the end of that problem.
At the moment the Zen Media Explorer is not displaying folder information when I go to the 'Organize Data in Zen Neeon' option. I don't seem to have the same problem when I access the player through Windows Explorer. This makes it impossible to edit my playlists as I can't see what is the folders.
The Neeons sell for about ?20 on ebay. This includes postage. Message Edited by paulhino on -6-2005 0:37 PM

  • Creative Zen Neeon 6GB filesystem error on Li

    Hi there,
First off, I have had no problem with the Zen Neeon in the past on Linux, has worked perfectly. However, now the mp3 player says it has a Filesystem error and shuts down. Is there anyway to format or fix this problem for Linux? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeriko

Well, good news. There is a simple way to fix my above problem if you're running Linux. Thought I better post it here incase someone has the same trouble. Simply open up your terminal and create a windows filesystem on the mp3 player device. For example, my mp3 player was dedicated to /dev/sda, you'd do this:
    mkdosfs /dev/sda
And that should do it. Check the man page (man mkdosfs) for more info.
    Cheers,
    Jeriko

  • Creative Zen Neeon "File System Err

Hi just bought a Zen Neeon a couple weeks ago. Yesterday I was charging my player on the computer and when I was done charging it I tried to transfer songs but it kept saying "Dri've needs to be formatted". I didn't format the dri've because I think it'll erase my songs. Now when I try to turn my player on it says, "File system error". What does that mean? Should I reset it's If so, will it erase my songs?

What's recover mode? I've done this...
Detach your player from your PC , and ensure that it is turned off.
Close all acti've applications (for example, Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer, or Windows Media Player etc), as well as background applications such as Norton anti-virus applications.
Download the latest device driver if you have not installed any drivers for your player.
Double click on the file MStorage_PCDRV_LB__07_00_250 to install it. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Hold down the Play/Pause button while connecting the player to a PC's USB port.
When the Creativelogo appears on its screen, release the Play/Pause button. The player is now in Player Recovery Mode.

  • Zen Neeon 'Frozen' at Creative Logo when inserted into U

add me to the list of people who's Neeon freezes at the creative logo when connected to a USB port.
I've tried to boot into the recovery mode, and the device appears as a 'player recovery device' however when the firmware update tries to update, the 'player recovery device' disappears, and windows tells me a USB device has malfunctioned and that i should re-insert it. which then makes the firmware update fail, as it loses the connection to the player.
My Neeon is now a couple weeks expired from the 2 month warranty. as i bought it last year for my Xmas present. which means i'm pretty much stuck with a paperweight now as the knowledge base doesn't help me one bit and e-mail support wasn't exactly helpful either, as i only ever got replies that needed the player to connect to the PC. when it's not even getting to the stage where it will talk to the PC properly.
i've always supported creative players, as they're about the same price as the consumer-tastic ipods, but offer many more features, and then this happens as soon as the warranty expires, which is really just like a kick in the face.
if there's any way to workaround this that anyone knows of, i would love to hear from you, because i'd rather not have to spend any money to buy another player. (and chances are, it won't be a creative one)

Yes I have been dealing with the same problem until the creative.com helped me.Here the solution :
Creative Mass Storage Driver .07.00.250 (3.24 MB)
    http://sg.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?Product=224&dlcentric=8983&Product_N ame=Zen+Neeon+5GB%2F6GB&OSName=Windows+XP
After that, download the following firmware and use the below method to
check if the player can be detected. If yes, reload the firmware to your
    player to resolve the issue.
The firmware can be download from the below link:
Creative Zen Neeon Firmware .0 (2.5 MB)
    http://sg.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?MainCategory=23&Product=224&dlcentri c=9534&Product_Name=ZEN+Neeon+5GB%2F+6GB&OSName=Wi ndows+XP
    To install this firmware upgrade:
. Press and hold the Play button while connecting your player to your
    computer's USB port.
    2. Continue to hold the Play button for 0 seconds after connecting your
    player to your computer.
    3. Release the Play button when the Find New Hardware dialog box appears
    on the screen.
    4. Follow the instructions on the screen to install recovery drivers for
    your player.
    5. Download the ZenNeeon_PCFW_LF__0_FM.exe file into your local hard
    disk.
    6. Double-click the firmware upgrade file and follow the instructions on
    the screen.
I wish This could help you, as did it to me.(And sorry for my poor english)

  • Creative Zen 4GB incompatible with Windows Xp 64b

I cant get my new 4GB zen to work with my Windows XP 64 bit. As far as i am aware i've downloaded all the neccesary drivers from Creative, but still no joy. Upon inserting the CD that came with the Zen i get 'The windows operating system is not supported' and i am unable to see my Creative zen plugged in the 'My computer' display. It could just be me thats missed something blatantly obvious, or am missing a download (If anyone could link the drivers, just incase i've missed something id be most grateful) If anyone could help me out here id be most thankful Cheers Buldyman

I have 2 8G Zens and a 4G Zen and they all seem fine under Vista 64bit, but I've not tried them under XP 64bit.
Do they show up as devices in the device manager with an exclamation point?
I did notice under 32bit XP that they showed up as MTP devices until I installed WMP (Windows Media Player) . After that, they simply showed up like a USB dri've which is what I wanted. If you are still running an older version of WMP, upgrading to the latest version () may help.

  • Can no longer access my menu on Zen Neeon

I have upgraded to the .009 firmware so now my zen neeon loads quicker and skips tracks quicker but now when I press the scroll button to access the menu nothing happens except it resets to the first track on my player.
I've tried resetting my player. I've created playlists which I can't access. I just can't get to my menu!!!!
Do I need to do a recovery mode rescue?

Thanks for the reply Edmeister. All the tabs take a moment attempting to load, then the Inbox Preview screen pops up. I have even uninstalled FF and reinstalled it. I've checked my settings even though I've made no changes in months. Again, the mail box has never had a problem until about 2 weeks ago. Fortunately, I can retrieve my mail through my old Eudora program and do the house keeping through IE8. Just wish I knew what has changed, i.e., my fault or a program.
    Thanks again.
