Zen neeon prob

Hi, I've been using Creative Zen Neeon GB for about ,5 month, but I've been experiencing a problem since i bought it. My mp3 player doesn't work correctly. It's often (getting more often these days) turning off just after "Please wait" warning while I turn it on. After formatting HD, it starts working properly but for a while, then i have to reformat to listen. This makes me feel awful if i experience it away from computer. Not only formatting and recopying takes too much time, even it doesn't solve my problem permanently. I can't trust my mp3 on listening everytime i feel down...
What can I do to deal with this problem?
Thanks

• Zen Neeon Questions/Prob

I bought a zen neeon recently, but when it arri'ved the LOCK button doesn't work. Also the menus are really really slow, and there's no way I can find to get it to display the artist name for my songs. The FM tuner doesn't seem to pick any stations up either, I've put it on the desk next to another radio which works okay.
I ran all the updates on it, but nothing has helped. I'm really miffed, it's like 2 weeks old.
I li've in Japan so I have to post here to find if these things are normal or if they've shipped me some broken or test model by mistake.
I got someone to phone their support (who speaks Japanese, but not so great English), who said send it back for repair or to get a refurbished one, but really I want my money back, cos it looks like i've been done. I really don't want a refurbished or repaired one either, cos I've had it like a WEEK! If I'd wanted 2nd hand I'd have gone to ebay and paid a lot less!
I really want my money back but I suspect they'll only let me RMA it. Does Creative have a worldwide policy on refunds?
I googled for firmware upgrades and found some mentions, my player has .0.0.5 according to its menu. I've seen mention of other numbers but nothing in creative america or creative japan websites. I ran the auto update tool but it says there's nothing new (tried both again, america and japan).
Any ideas, or have I just lost a huge chunk o' money?

hi,my name is Jessie, i bought a Zen Neeon from Hong Kong, but i li've in UK and it just started frozing today but i have never dropped it or damage it......i got really depressed
can you speak japanese?

• Zen Neeon 5 GB playlist prob

I have got Zen Neeon 5 GB. Mp3 player. I have created a playlist on Zen Neeon. There are 3 mp3 each one. It plays tracks but return to back from fourth track. It plays four tracks.
How can I solve this problem.

...perhaps try...
...creating a new folder called RECORD...
...on your player...
...all in capitals...
...it may have been accidentally deleted...

• Zen Neeon 6GB Prob

Hey guys, I recently got a Zen Neeon for christmas, It was working BRILLIANTLY without error up until yesterday, i used it until it was out of battery and went to charge it up on my computer, i plug it into my USB cable, and when i looked at the screen all i get is the "CREATIVE" logo, it wont charge.. i unplug it and try to turn it on, i either get the 'no battery' symbol and it switches off, or usually i jus get the 'CREATIVE' logo and it just sits there.. this is VERY frustrating as i cannot li've without my mp3 player (seriously).. Thanks for your time.. i hope theres something that can be done,Neil

Do you lose all your songs if you reset it's And is the reset button the little hole under the 'hold' button?
Yes the little hole next to the hold switch is the reset button. You can use a pin or needle to press it down. However, don't jab it too hard like I did because I think I sort of dislodged the button. But it still works.. for now. And no you shouldn't lose any of your songs. Although the first time I reset my Neeon the music folder I was in it caused problems. It wouldn't delete and when I tried to access it on my player, the player froze. But that is just another problem altogether.
If I remember correctly there is some firmware update for the Neeon that reduces chances of freezing, and should be downloadable from somewhere on this website.
I found that freezing occurred the most when it was used for a long time, or when it heated up in hot weather or in my pocket.
Hope that helped!

• Zen Neeon Player On Windows

hey..i have recently bought a Zen Neeon player..but im now currently using windows 98 and
i have problems on removing the player safely...isit just by click right click on the removable disk and then click eject and plug out the player without being prompted ?...
the second problem is when i switch on the player..a sound like a small "explosion" is being made...and when the player loading the contents there is a small shuffle sound ?..isit normal for it to be like this ?..
i hope someone will help me resolve my prob...thank you!!

There should be an option in the system tray to stop the device so it's safe to remove. I think Window Explorer's Eject function is the same though.
Do you have Win 98 or Win 98 SE? SE has proper USB support from what I remember, and Win 98 the original version is not supported.

This is probably just the chipset initialising when starting up, and interference when the player is functioning. I assume it's relati'vely quiet? It shouldn't be very loud.

• Can no longer access my menu on Zen Neeon

I have upgraded to the .009 firmware so now my zen neeon loads quicker and skips tracks quicker but now when I press the scroll button to access the menu nothing happens except it resets to the first track on my player.
I've tried resetting my player. I've created playlists which I can't access. I just can't get to my menu!!!!
Do I need to do a recovery mode rescue?

Thanks for the reply Edmeister. All the tabs take a moment attempting to load, then the Inbox Preview screen pops up. I have even uninstalled FF and reinstalled it. I've checked my settings even though I've made no changes in months. Again, the mail box has never had a problem until about 2 weeks ago. Fortunately, I can retrieve my mail through my old Eudora program and do the house keeping through IE8. Just wish I knew what has changed, i.e., my fault or a program.
Thanks again.

• Zen neeon problem...pleas, he

i have my neenon about one month. so far it worked quite well until a few days ago. every time i plug it to the usb the computer seems to have a problem to identify the device and it gets stuck on this window (the window image is in hebrew):it seems to take to much time to act only on this process, and after it finally finished (about 0 minutes) it cannot open the neeon file and it says something about a problem with the input/output.i go to "zen neeon media explorer" and is says that the device is not even pluged in!?same problem with other comuters! so the problem is realy on the neeon. i already tried to press on play/off button and plug in the usb at the same time and then downloading?a firmware but it did not helped at all. can somebody pleas help me?

Should I just get a new one?

• BSOD when I connect my ZEN Neeon to my

Hi,
As said in the subject title.. My computer goes to the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) each time I connect my Zen Neeon mp3 to it. This is the first time this has happened, just recently it started doing this, I've connected and disconnected the MP3 and the same thing happened 3 times in a row.
Is there anyway to fix this and ways to prevent it's
I took a photo of what comes up on my camera, so if I need to post it let me know. "fastfat.sys" is the technical error problem, that's what it says on the BSOD.

Hey,
Well somehow I've fixed the problem. I did some things?before I tried connecting the MP3 to my computer but whatever I did, it fixed it. I installed some Windows Updates and then connecting and disconnecting the MP3 quickly because apparently that does something - not sure though, so it could've easily just been updating my Windows Update.
I didn't even have to download that Microsoft hotfix - thanks for the link though
Cheers!

• Zen Neeon Suggesti

I am very happy with my Zen Neeon and have no complaints as of yet.
Here are two suggestions I have thought of:
. I listen to electronic music among millions of other people. Often times they are recorded as sets, up to hour or so long. If there could be faster 'fastfoward' times, or perhaps some sort of skip by percentage or something to that effect it would help greatly. Many car cd/mp3 players have this feature available now. This way you dont have to listen to the first 20 minutes of every set, but never hear the finish.
2. Put the volume buttons in a different location or change the interface. Your hand generally cover the volume buttons when pushing in the scroll wheel, and if a volume button is pressed in the scroll wheel will not select.
Hopefully these suggestions are in the right place, I had a look around but could not find anywhere else to put them. Thanks.Message Edited by Phikticious on -4-2005 05:48 PM

I'm not quite happy with my neeon. My current firmware version is .009.
Here are the features that I think creative should have already included on it Neeon:
. Neeon should remember where it was when I turn it off. Let's me give you an example. Suppose you are listening to a 2 hours audio progrom (Audio Book, Blog, etc) and at some point, you have to stop listen to it and do something else, what should happen. For iPod (even the shuffle one), when you turn the player back again, it will continue where it left. For Neeon?, First you have to browse for the record first (If you play the program from the playlist) then you have to manually scroll through the record until it reach the point that you have left, via the scroll botton. And suppose you do one too more click and it go to the next record, you have to do this whole thing again.
2. It should remember the playlist. As I've already mention in the st features: When you play from a playlist, the Neeon will not remember that it 's play from the playlist. So, when you turn off your and turn it on later, it will just goto the first music/song/program on your neeon, not the first one on the playlist.
3. It should support audible just like other mp3 in the Zen series or even the low-end muvo.
I've already contact their technical support and here is a quote from them:
"As regards to your request, what we can assist you is to feedback the information to the relevant development department. As such it will be up to the development team to determine if this is within the product means. If this is possible then, perhaps they may be able to implement in the update."
The last sentence is great :: it says if we can and we want to, perhap we maybe do it.
I'm considering these lack features as a bug in design/implement. Maybe my expectation is too high as I'm a previous iPod user and such a stupid problem have never occur to me. Maybe yo wonder why I switch to zen Neeon. The reason is at that time, iPod Nano 4 GB is out of stock in Thailand, so I pick up this one (since the shop owner only tell it's good point, like sound quality is good, it have one GB more, etc).
I do really hope that the creative's "Development Team" is capable, willing, and do implement these features, in order to make the Neeon be what it should already be or put it the other way round, just to make it work, at least as best as, the entry level iPod Shuffle.
I know that Neeon have more features comparing to iPod (and it is what lure me) but as an mp3 player, I think it should focus most on mp3 features. All other features is just an add-on.
I believe creative do have a future, but it should know where to focus.

• Zen Neeon direct record in WAV form

Hi everyone,
I'm looking at buying the Zen Neeon 2. I want to use the Direct Recording to record straight from, say a CD player into the Neeon. But I want to record in WAV format at 6 bit, 44.k (full CD quality). I've read through the manual and it's not clear.
Does anyone out there know that it will defintely reord direct in full quality WAV format?
Thanks, I'd appreciate any help.

... thanks.
I'll use it for rough mixes in my studio. I'm getting used to the idea of mixing it then naming it and tarnsfering it in wav format via usb.
Thanks again

• ZEN NEEON 6GB - SNR changed to 98

Recently, Creative had added a 6GB Zen Neeon to their Mp3-player segment. I noticed that the Signal-to-Noise Ratio of this new player has changed from 90 dB to 98 db! Is this a fault on the new specifications page, or was this intended? (so, the new Zeeon has a new sound chip in it or something?)
My questions to Creative:
Is the SNR of the Zen Neeon really 98 db?

Is the new 6GB Zen Neeon still laggy as the Neeon 5GB in menus, or less laggy?

Thank you for your reply!
Message Edited by mathijsv on -20-2005 2:44 PM

Does the player turn on, or doesn't it respond at all? Was the battery run down all the way?
Regarding your e-mail, did you use the form on the website, and did get an auto-response back? You should always get an automated e-mail back with some tips, if they don't help, check over the e-mail as you generally need to reply to that to let them know, so someone will deal with you directly.

• Zen Neeon - possible to replace batte

I am considering buying the Zen Neeon for my girlfriend for her birthday. She is primarily going to use it whilst exercising and jogging.
The only concern I have is the fact that it does not appear to be possible to replace the lithium ion battery. I see little point in spending that much money on a gadget only to have to throw it out after 2 or 3 years because the battery has given up the ghost.
So basically all I want to know is whether it is actually possible to replace the battery in the future and the likely cost of doing so.
Any advice is greatly appreciated

"uh, if you are so concerned, then choose a player with a replaceable battery... " ? Thanks for the unconstructi've feedback, if you have nothing useful to say then please dont bother posting in a thread that poses a serious question.
frankly speaking, I don't think what Brian say are in anyway unconstructi've since you have express yourself being very concern about the battery especially.... I believe many others would say the same thing to you too.....You can change to buying player like their muvo series, v200, n200 player,etc.......these player uses AAA battery and it's easily available anywhere when you need it and it's definitely still available 0-20 years down the road. To top it off, you could use rechargeable AAA battery to go with these player.....also microdri've harddisk are the same as harddisk you used in your pc.....they are just very much smaller in size only.....so it isn't advisable to go with such player for vigorous activity.....the music won't skip on such player might the head/platter of the harddisk might get damage....a flash based player would be a better suggestion......Message Edited by BadBoy on 2-5-2005 02:05 PM
