Zen Nomad NX and wma file types

Good afternoon all,
I have the above Nomad. Is there anyway to either change the proporties of the wma files on this device (windows explorer doesn't see the nomad and my computer sees the files but will not allow me to copy any of them) or in some other many get a copy of them onto my hard dri've. These files were originally uploaded by me but the original CD's have been lost or destroyed.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Bob

Sorry. I'm using Windows Xp SP 3 and windows player .0.. You mentioned Nomad Explorer is that the same as the Media Source Organizer? If so, when I try to transfer the wma files off my nomad to my hard dri've it refuses to do so saying the files are protected.
Bob
No it is not the same. Nomad Explorer integrates with Windows Explorer. If the files are protected you may not be able to move them. So try this link to get the right file.Scroll down & click "VIEW ALL DOWNLOADS" it is the last one on that page. Read the show details.http://support.creative.com/Products...me=MP3+Players

  • Help!- MP3 and WMA files no longer playing on my Micro Pl

I have a 52mb micro plus that I got in September 2005. All of a sudden, I can longer play my mp3 and wma files... just the radio. I have updated my creative zen file organizer, I have a full powered battery inside, I have done no significant damage to the player (I dropped the player once on the sidewalk but not from a big distance or very hard), and I really can't think of anything else that is causing the problem. Can someone please help me fix my player so I can start playing my music files again? Thank you.Message Edited by jjc92787 on 05--200707:0 AM

No unfortunately not. I don't know how to escalate this to Apple tech but I think that is the next step as I believe it is IOS based problem, not user related.

  • Spotlight/Finder Doesn't Search In ASP and other file types?

.asp and .c file types are nothing more than .txt files with different extentions..
Am I correct in thinking that Spotlight doesn't search inside these files? I have a folder full of asp files and spotlight doesn't seem to find anything when I type text that I know is inside one (as a test)
It does appear to search INSIDE .html files in the same folder.. Can you add different file extentions that spotlight will search into?
If not, then "Spotlight" is much ado about nothing as google desktop search, X1 and the msn desktop search (Windows) released years ago search inside ALL files..

Spotlight makes a content index for files using mdimporter, and that process depends on mdimporter modules for the specific file type. Thus in /Library/Spotlight you will see a collection, such as Microsoft Office.mdimporter, of "extras" for special file types. There are also the built-in ones in /System/Library/Spotlight. If you installed Xcode/Developer Tools, there should be a SourceCode.mdimporter, which I imagine would index the asp and c files. If not, some people have modified it to also index php files, see this discussion:

at MacOSXHints. I think you could do something similar (at your own risk of course) for other pure text based files. Be sure to expand the the replies and read them.

  • Converting MIDI and WMA files

On another computer with an older version of iTunes, I was able to convert MIDI and WMA files to other formats including AAC and MP3. But on my own computer which has the latest version of iTunes, it can't convert the formats anymore. I can an "unknown error (-50)" message. What is wrong?
      Windows XP Pro

I happened across this article today playing around with RSS feeds.
You probably could have found it too, if you did a search on "MIDI".
iTunes: MIDI files cannot be converted in iTunes 6.0.3 and 6.0.4

  • Mixture of mp3 and wma files on my muvo

I got a muvo tx last week as a gift. I copied about 250K of mp3 and wma files to it from my laptop running windows xp pro. The player plays all of the mpe files with no problem but won't play any of the wma files. The wma files were ripped from a cd using Windows Media Player.
Any advice on playing the wma files will be appreciated. The little manual that came with the player says it will play mp3, wma, and wav files.

    JimR,
For WMA audio files with DRM protection, you will need to use either Windows Media Player or Creative MediaSource application to do the transferring of the files to the player. Only by using these application can the license be transfer to the player to allow playback.
Try ripping the Audio CD again but this time go to the Windows Media Player 9 setting option and ensure that the 'Copy protect music' option is disabled.

  • Is it possible to play .rm and .wma file with java?

    Hello Friends,
    Please tell me,
how to play .rm and .wma file with java?
    Thanks,
    Harsh Modha

As far as I know, you can not play those files.
Here you have the complete list of supported formats. Hope this helps.

Maybe you should try to convert from wma or rm to a supported format before attempting to play it.

  • Does MediaSource and the zen xtra support secure WMA fil

I bought a CD that uses some encryption utilities from a company called sunncomm (real blockheads @ that company, from the tech support to the VP by the way) It would seem that I'm able to download the "digital keys" from their web site however I get the message "license required" when I try to copy the songs to my zen extra using mediasource.
Anyone ever had experience with this?
....and for the record I would not recommend buying any CD's that are using this company's (sunncomm)system, or anything from RCA records. In their effort to thwart illegal distribution the two have decided to punish those of us who legally purchase their products and simply want to listen to it in our preferred format and on our preferred players. I really don't listen to anything on CD anymore, as my CD's just get loaded onto my player, in fact I'd taken the CD player out of my car all together and the zen is the only thing that gets played there. Without the ability to transfer the songs from CD to my player what I wind up with is a fifteen dollar coaster

The CD is Contraband from Velvet Revolver. It's released on the RCA label under BMG music. The name of the company that delevloped and runs the protection software is SunnComm. I'm working on a list of other titles and artists that have this installed on their releases well. CL product users may find that useful as a list of titles to avoid.
The thing that is really bothersome is that nowhere on the CD did it indicate this protection was there when I bought it. Only when I popped it into my PC did it become evident. This as it turns out would have been a bit different if I owned an ipod, as since ipod has it's issues with WMA files to begin with they don't even pretend to support anything related to ipod. While that's a move that I'm sure CL thinks is just fine, it's seems like a bit of a bonehead move for the record company. What really irks me about sunn comm it they are quite frankly lying about what their product does, it does NOT allow someone who has legally bought a music release to listen to that release on a digital player like they it does ... which as a consumer is a right I expect to have when I purchase music in any format. I've spoke with several people at sunn comm and they are of no help and obviously do not care about any issues a consumer has with their product. I'm also in contact with RCA and BMG about this mistake they are making in not properly informing consumers about what their product actually is. I'm not a music pirate, I bought their release intending it only for my own personal use, but they have turned the simple act of buying music in to a week long Odyssey and headache. No one at Sunn Comm or BMG seems to understand that which does not bode well for for either company or industry.

  • Can't transfer some .mp3 and .wma file

I have recently purchased a Zen V plus MP3 player and updated the software and firmware for it.
While I have successfully transferred a lot of my music mp3s and some of my audiobook mp3s, there are a few of my audiobook mp3s that won't transfer because it tells me that they are not in a supported format.
I also had this problem when trying to transfer a .wma file.
The thing is that I have been able to transfer these same files to another mp3 player (not Creative) without any problems.
Can anyone help with a possible solution please?

Do you have songs purcahsed by friends or family?
As stated, you can only have songs from 5 different accounts sync'd to an iPod.
See this -> Track Down Purchases
"This script will examine each track in a selection of tracks or a playlist to determine if it was purchased from the iTunes Store and then copies it to a discrete playlist named for the person who purchased it, eg: "Steve Ballmer's Purchased Music". Recognizes song, video, and audiobook purchases. Purchaser information is gleaned by examining the track's file. Takes about one second per track, give or take, depending on computer speed, just so you know">

  • How do I copy .jpg and .wma files to my ipod?

Now using itunes 7 I am unable to work out how to copy photos and short clips to my ipod. I tried dragging them to the ipod in the source list, also to the library, nothing. I mucked around with the video tabs but I dont understand all that sync stuff, I have bits and pieces all over my computer, not just in a particular folder. Just want to drag and deposit. But how?!?!??!?!?
    Thanks for your help.

Whoa. Let's take a step back here and look at what we're saying, before we wear out the word "convert" like it's going out of style.
If the wma file is a PROTECTED wma file, forget it. iTunes will NOT convert it. Most wma files purchased from legitimate music sites (i.e. Buymusic.com, and others) are protected. They will not convert in iTunes and they will not play on iPod. There are MP3 players on the market that will play them, but, hey, you bought an iPod. So when it comes to wma files, let's not throw around the word "convert" like it's so matter of fact. Now if you're talking about UNprotected wma files, different story.
That being said, here's the work-around, assuming it's legal, which I cannot answer. Burn your wma file to CD as an audio file, like you're going to play it in a CD player. Then rip it back to your computer using whatever software you have that will do this. My suggestion would be to rip it as an mp3 file, this being a generic file type. Then you can import it into iTunes and put it on your iPod.
But here's the thing. In many cases, protected wma files purchased from music sites will only burn to CD so many times, as established by the site. So if you've already burned the wma file to CD a few times, you may be out of burns. All you can do is try it and see.
Am I wrong on any of this? Is all of this burning and ripping legal?

  • QuickTime crashes at startup and on File Types tab

I have a client who has been trying to install iTunes on Windows XP SP3 32-bit.  The iTunes installation would fail every time towards the end and rollback.  I tracked down Quicktime as the culprit.  Quicktime would crash whenever I tried to launch the player.  When I tried to uninstall the Quicktime already on the system, that uninstall would fail as well.  I used the Windows Installer cleanup tool to remove QuickTime and followed instructions here for removing the leftover QT files from the Program Files and Windows System folders.
I was able to install the latest version of QT, but it then had the same issues, crash when bringing up the player and unable to uninstall again.  I then used Revo Uninstaller which was able to remove QT and all the files and file associations.  After that thorough cleanup, I installed QT again, but with the same results.  I did notice a few things.
I can bring up the QT control panel and switch to any of the tabs except "File Types".  It crashes when I try to select that tab.  The last time I did the install at the final dialog of the installtion it has a button to allow you to set the file types.  When I pushed that button, the installtion did not crash, but you could hear the computer's HD working very hard and nothing ever happened even after 7-8 minutes.  I was able to click the finish button on the installation and the install finished, but I was left with the same crashing problem and inability to uninstall.
The computer is clean of any malware and spyware and I've tried disabling the AV temporarily while doing these installs/uninstalls, but that's no help.
He really wants to get iTunes installed but we can't get past this QT issue.

    many thanks.
I think we'd better see if some other application (other than QuickTime itself) has dropped old QuickTime componentry in the system files on the PC. (If there's a version mismatch between the old componentry and the "QuickTime proper" componentry, that can create similar-looking symptoms, including uninstall errors.)
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view options on the PC.
    1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
    2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
Now in My Computer, open your C drive.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "system32" folder.
What files and/or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file/folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • Open a new File() by Script and set File Type to PDF fails...

    Dear all
I'm creating a script to download pdf Files from a server and place them into an Indesign Document. Everything works fine except Indesign does not recocnize the file Type when attempting to place the pdf and throws an error that the downloaded PDF File can not be placed due to unknown Filter.
This is because File type apparently is set to TEXT (Creator is CARO) event though I write the file with
    myFile.open('w',"PDF","CARO");
    Any Idea how to
    - get Indesign set the FileType of a newly generated File to PDF
    or
    - Change the File Type afterwards
    or
    - tell Indesign what filter to use when placing this File?
    Thanks for your help
    BTW: Indesign CS5 (7.0.4), OS X 10.6.8

    Thanks John,
but I already had the encoding set to binary, that does not seem to be the problem. I can open the generated File with Acrobat, that works, only Indesign can not place it....

  • ITunes Match and wma files

I have a ton of wma files that i would like to load onto my phone. Most of these are from burned cds I believe. Can I use itunes match to access these on my phone?

I don't have Match or WMA files but from reading I believe you would have to convert the WMA files to some more iTunes-friendly format first, then do the match.  Of course Match will provide 256k AAC if it is available so it won't be your original WMA.
You also need iTunes on Windows to convert WMA.  Mac iTunes cannot convert or play WMA.
