Zen NX is not recognized by my lap

Just for kicks I gave Pocket DivX Encoder a try. It sure is quick, and the file was definitely readable on my Zen, but I prefer to use my usual video converter, megui. The problem is all of the video files that i have made with megui weren't 'seekable,' i couldn't fast forward through them without the video freezing. Has anyone else experienced thisI have been struggling for some time with trying to retrieve the media I have stored on my Zen NX - 20GB on to a new laptop. My hard dri've died on the laptop I originally loaded with my CD's that I then transferred to my Zen. I have tried reloading the Organizer several times and have attempted to load the most current firmware and software. The Device Manager indicates the current driver version is 2..0.0. I verified that the USB Root Hub has 500mA of available power. When I connect the Zen to the laptop the Zen display shows the circular arrow icon which implies its connected. The laptop also seems to recognize the device by making an audible tone when I plug it in. The Device Manager also shows that the Zen is enabled and functioning properly. The Organizer actually offers the Zen is an option in the source field, but when I select it acts as if it's trying to access it for about a minute and then a consistently get the error message "Player is not connected".
I would be grateful for any advice you may have.
Is there a setting that i have wrong

Forgot to mention that I'm running Windows XP Professional

Hey i think i know what your problem is. What Operating System are u running on your computer? (Windows XP, ME etc) And also, if running XP do you have service pack installed? If you dont have service pack installed, you cant use your player. The system requirements can be found on the back of the zen micro photo box. goodluck!!

  • ZEN VISION:M Not recognized!!! Please He

I just purchased a Zen Vision:M. Before this I had a Zen Microphoto. I have installed the software for both (the Microphoto software has been uninstalled). The Vision:M is not recognized by my computer. When I plug it in, the "Found New Hardware Wizard" pops up and I get a message identifying the device as "MTP Device". It is not recognized in the Creative Media Explorer or Windows Media Player .
I had the same problem with my Zen Microphoto. Both players work fine on my other computer. I've only had this problem since I did a fresh installation of Windows approximately month ago. The players worked fine before I did this. This leads me to believe that the problem is software-related.
I have seen topics in the forum about this, but I cannot as of yet deri've any viable solutions from them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,

  • Windows Media Player 11 - Zen Vision:M Not Recognized Anym

I've installed WMP, which is told to be especially very well with Vision:M, and nothing recognizes my Vision:M now.
It's shown up as a Portable Device (with a new icon), with it's Name "Creative Zen Vision:M", I connect, it asks me what to do. Windows Media Player, Vision:M Explorer or firmware updater I've just downloaded doesn't see the player connected. Each time I connect, it appears to be something different on My Computer. Sometimes the device's name with ZVM icon, sometimes Zen Vision:M with portable icon. And it even thought it's a camera or scanner and put it there!
    What's going on?

Any chance of posting or PM'ing me your wmsetup.log file? So far I've seen one and that was a total install failure, so isn't the same problem you had.

  • Zen Micro MTP not recognized? Solution in he

So, after scouring the forums here and Google in search for a reason why my MTP enabled Zen Micro wasn't being recognized in a fresh WinXP install. Well here's the solution everybody.
    Try installing this:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;8922
I noticed that the player isn't recognized by drivers from the net or the Zen Micro CD (They're both the same anyways). The reason why is because the Device ID for the Zen Micro with the MTP firmware is different (USB\VID_04E&PID_430\00525530038FF3). If you open up the .inf file used to install this player, the Device ID is not in there.
I had another XP install on another HDD which recognized the Zen Micro and noticed that only a single file was being used for the drivers: wpdusb.sys.A search on Google brought me to the Microsoft KB page. I installed that patch and poof instant recognition.
I also believe this issue could be resolved if you install the latest Windows Media Player 0 available. I had it installed, but somehow that file wasn't installed and the update provided it for me.
    I hope this helps somebody~! =)

The only other suggestion to what the problem could be is a a software conflict of the driver and current software on your system that is interferring with the recognizing of your player. I had the same problem happen, and I tried my Micro on three different computers, and the Micro worked, instantly, and my Zen use to work on my computer before an upgrade.
Somewhere in between of any other updates of software on the computer, there must be a conflict. My player will become recognizable once in a blue moon, which also leads to the conclusion of software conflict, or possibly IRQ issue.
Maybe the latest driver just released may fix the issues of eliminating if it doesn't cause any conflicts with other softwares that are on your system for your Micro to be recognized.

  • ZEN Sleek photo not recognized tried everything HEL

i bought my zen photo sleek today, the software installed, the device was recognized. I started transferring files which stopped at file 97 and didn't do anything. I clicked cancel which made the tranfer window freeze and not respond anymore. Task manager didn't open so i rebooted my computer. After this the device wasn't recognized anymore. since then i've tried EVERYTHING i could find on this forum but failed. all setting seem to be ok, i reinstalled al the software twice, downloaded the hotfixes etc. nothing works. I mailed customer service and am wiating for a reply, anyone any ideas in the meantime ?

general_tomorof wrote:My firmware is version .0.0eaifaik, for the zen sleek photo there is no v2.xx..the release was only few weeks ago, so the firmware is very new and maybe not full functionable on all pc's.and it is not possible to update your firmware without connection to your player..Edit: i already installed WMP0
Apologies, I just noticed this was a Sleek Photo, rather than the original Sleek.
I'm guessing the Sleek Photo must be PlayForSure, so for some reason Windows is not picking up the MTP device driver. You can try forcing Windows, through Device Manager, to look in the directory C:\WINDOWS\INF where the MTP driver information is located.
Failing that, have a look at the link "problems with connecting using MTP firmware" in the FAQ post.

  • Real Player/XP crashed, now Zen Sleek 20GB not recogni

Okay, I had my Zen Sleek 20 GB connected one day, put the computer in standby mode, then disconnected the device. When I turned the computer back on, I got a blue screen (first time for this year-old Dell!) saying it had recovered from a major error. After that, anytime I tried to transfer an MP3 or anything else over to my player in Real, a message would pop up saying that the device did not support my file type, which was impossible. I thought the crash might have something to do with it, so I went ahead and uninstalled EVERYTHING on my computer, then reinstalled everything. Didn't work. Formatted my Zen, and erased the firmware. But when I tried to install the new firmware, the installation wizard didn't "see" the device, as if it wasn't connected. So now I'm clueless as to what to do next, and my player is completely on the fritz. Any ideas?

Howdy, I have a Zen MicroPhoto 8 GB player that is stuck, and as much as I know about MP3 players, even I can't fix this thing. Somebody's gotta help me now. I know how to access the Recovery mode, but that doesn't help me much if it freezes up when I access anything there. My computer doesn't even recognize the player either. I am running XP Pro with WMP-2. I usually like Creatives because it's easy for my PC to see it as a new dri've and then just copy/paste songs to it. I don't really like the time consumption of using a pc player to manage my music. Well, I really need help making my PC see the player. I think if I could see the player I could format and reinstall software....maybe. I don't have an a/c charger but have always charged it with the pc usb cable. I have two good batteries that will run the player too. I can always fix the GB or less Creative players (flash memory), even if my pc won't recognize them. I am apparently dumb about the hard dri've players cause I can't get anything to work to save my life. Once, and only once, I got my device manager to see it...but it wouldn't let me install or manage software transfer to the player. It just said "your player is not connected"....and I can't remember what I did to get it to see it in the device manager either. One more thing, I have a bluetooth a/c charger that has an output of 550 mA's. I have thought about connecting that and boosting the power...temporarily....to see if that does it.....but I'm a little scared to do that. I'm liable to fry my player...! Anybody know a way I can start to fix my 8GB player (signed: "Very Frustrated"

  • Zen Vision M NOT RECOGNIZED BY COMPU

i ahve widnows xp service pack 2...
my ipod works on my usb stuff so this thing should to, it wasnt charged out of the bow which was kinda pathetic but then I let it charge for 8 hours overnight and this zen still wont turn on and it still wont recognize my player,.

Just recently my Zen Vision:m? crashed and left me with nothing except 55 out of 3000 songs. All video, personal files, video and recordings are all gone. It wont completely rebuild which truthfully,?I?think,
Is the problem. Only goes about 25% then goes into the startup. Computer will not recognize it now. I didnt do anything different with it upon previous use, it just decided that it didnt want to function properly. I can't finish this deployment without it. Can some one help?

  • Zen 20 gig not recogni

When i connect my Zen 20 gig to the computer, it sees it as new hardware, even though it has been installed on my computer for over a year. If i put it in removable disk mode it is recognised. Then if i go into Zen Media Explorer it comes up with the message "The following devices will be switched to a different mode...". So i click switch, but it still cant find the player.

 **bleep**, i thought it might come to that. I'll wait a bit first, just to see if it sorts itself out.

  • Zen Sleek Photo not recogni

I have just bought a second hand Zen Photo Sleek 20Gb?Normally I expect MP3 players to be auto detected by my PC at?a minimum as a removable disk. I can't get my PC to see this Zen and know I wasn't given a disc with the player. Do I need the disc to allow me to get the PC to see this Zen? If so can anyone advise where I can get a disc from>?Thanks?Russ

Hi i had this problem too and the solution was amazingly simple. (I found it by searching on Google for ages!) Turn your pc off and then unplug it from the mains for approximately 30 mins. I know it sounds crazy but apparantly static electricity can cause problems with usb devices particularly if you have your device already plugged in to USB port-Windows forgets its there! After 30 mins plug your pc back in to the mains and voila! your Zen will be recognised again.
2:44 AM : After 30 minutes of trying to fall asleep with no success turned on computer and connected the Zen... Didn't have much expectations, but IT WORKED! IT REALLY DID! WINDOWS FOUND THE DEVICE CORRECTLY AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING NOW!

  • Windows Vista not recognizing ZEN Mi

I upgraded to Windows Vista 32-bit ultimate, and my ZEN Micro is not recognized. I have let Vista search for drivers online automatically, but it finds no solution. Creative says there is nati've support, so why is my ZEN not recognized?

Update:?I downloaded the XP driver and ran it in XP SP2 compatibility mode. My ZEN now shows up under My Computer, however the device is still not recognized by MediaSource, ZENcast, or the playsure sync manager. I get the error "no device connected" even though it is showing up in My Computer and I can view my files. Any ideas?Message Edited by michaelgazin on 04-8-2007:58 PM

  • Creative Zen V won't charge, is not recognized, simply not work

hey. couple of weeks ago i bought myself a creative v zen. i have win xp prof sp2 and everything was working fine. few days ago suddenly media explorer crashed while i was transfering music to the player. i had to reset my player. since then, my zen is simply not recognized, neither by media explorer, nor by windows itself. there's always a mtp device being found, but it won't install the drivers. i reinstalled all the drivers and all the software, i downloaded all the updates, but it's still not working. my player won't even charge itself. only if i'm lucky enough. and everytime i turn on the zen, it says that it's rebuilding the media library. does anyone know how to fix that thing ?

Have you try running Cleanup from Rescue mode?

  • Creative Zen stone with speaker not recognized by Vista 32

My creative zen stone with speaker is not recognized by computer. Downloaded starter pack and it worked, but the first time i disconnected it and connected again, the device is not in "my computer". It is listed as working properly under "safely remove hardware". Uninstalled drivers, and connected again, driver was installed and I am told the device is ready to be used, but it is still no where to be seen, and update tools etc. also does not recognize connected device.
    thank you

Try going into "Control Panel->Administrati've tools" and clicking on "Computer Management". Find "disk management" in the left pane and click it. Your Stone should be in the right somewhere. I think you need to right click, then "choose dri've letter and paths" and give it a dri've letter with the "add" button. Let us know if that works.

  • Develop software for connecting to creative zen touch and other devices not recognized by wind

    hi there,
as a programmer i wonder, is it possible to obtain information of how to connect to usb-connected creative device (which is not recognized automatically by windows, as the zen touch) and how to communicate with it's is there any documentation about that available to "non-creative" ;-) developers?
the idea is to create a plugin (e.g. for musikcube) that enables the programm to access the files on the device.
i know there are third party companies that do provide software for connecting to e.g. zen touch, but i do not think that they have figured out every little bit by themselves, have they?
    greetings and thanks a lot

    Try this:
Download <a href='http://www.delldjsite.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=444' target=_blank>this[/url] file. Extract it to whatever folder you like. Inside that folder run the file fixup.cmd. A DOS window will open up and start display messages on what its doing, when its done it will instruct you to remove the device from Device Manager and reconnect it.
Try this and see if it works.
