Zen Orginizer not picking up Zen Mi

when i go to my orginizer i do not see my Zen Micro on the left. when I plug it into the USB i hear the sounds that it is recognized and i see that it is recognized when I go to my Device Manager, but the Zen Orginizer is not picking it up.

You can do a couple things. One or the othershould help. Update your Windows Media Player to version0 http://www.filehippo.com/download_wi...edia_player/9/ to check for components of CMS5 Go to Start>All Programs>Creative System Information>Creative Products>Creative Software> Creative Media Source5 there you will find the installed components of the software. The one you are looking for is this one: If you don't have this component installed MediaSource5 won't recognize your device

  • Zen Micro not recognised using zen micro media explo

Hi?get the error "device not connected" when I use the above facility, even though IT IS plugged in with the USB cable?Player is recognised in Windows Media Player. Any ideas ??Thanks??

The problem will be the same I would think because the issue is that the player is an older one, so WMP does not recognise it. Unless they change it in te full version, which is probably only a slim chance, you will still need to download the hotfix and the other update.
But if i were you i wait for the full version anyway, the Beta 2 is better but still far from perfect...

  • Zen Micro not recognized on one PC but is fine with 2 oth

Before I get totally frustrated with my PC, not the new Zen Micro 6g, what could I be overlooking to get the software and the PC to recognize this unit's This PC has Windows XP (no service packs installed), and after restoring system and reinstalling the software, I have the same problem: I connect the Zen to the USB cable, it says "Found New Hardware" and then proceeds to want to reinstall the software and drivers again from the CD. Naturally, it should have picked up the installed software and drivers but it hasn't.
On my other 2 PCs, one with Win XP sp2 and the other, my Toshiba laptop with Windows Media Player 2005 Edition, no problems at all. Immediately recognized the player after installation of the software and drivers.
I am almost at the point of not bothering to install it on the last PC as it works on 2 out of 3 fine but I would like to find out what could possibly be the problem. The two towers are identically set up: same Intel865Perl mbs, same hardware - only difference is the OS.
I have unistalled and reinstalled, system restored a few times, and I give up.
    Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks everyone. Oh, boy, I have a lot to search out, huh? Well, the chipsets are the same. The OS's are different though. I tried the USB from the mb....nothing. I do have an add-in card from Adaptec which is a dual connect card....contains 3 USB ports and 2 firewire ports. Nice card, usually works fine. All my other USB devices such as Canon camera, Sony camera, all work fine from both places. But, it might not like the Zen. Not sure why Zen wouldn't be compatible with an Adaptec USB card but I do know that Windows XP with no service packs does NOT recognize 2.0. just .. And I do get a message that states that I am connect a high-speed device with a non-high speed USB port. If that's the problem, why does it say "Found New Hardware" in the first place? And it does show up in Device Manager when connected, but with the yellow markings. It's listed under "Other Devices", and if I remove it, reboot and reconnect, the same message comes up asking me to install the drivers again.
I could upgrade this PC but I don't think that is going to make any difference, except that it will recognize the 2.0 USB ports.
I'm going to keep trying until I get it right. Any other ideas short of giving up?

  • ZEN v Not Recogni

Hi, well my computer does not recognise my Zen v 2GB with the message "USB Device Not Recognized" when I plug it into a USB port.
I have the software installed that came with the CD and windows media player does not pick it up.
Under the device manager the MP3 player is listed as "Unknown Device" and I had tried updating it from there but with no luck.(Also when I right click on it and go to properties then click on "Driver details" it says "No driver files are required or have been loaded to this device" )
Now this has not always been the case. You see I upgraded my computer (New Motherboard, RAM and CPU) and I had to format it. I have all of the windows drivers installed also other MP3 player devices seem to work one of which is an IPOD and the other is an old mp3 player which both are picked up by windows. I had tried using different USB ports as well but that did not help. Also the mp3 player does switch on but it is on low battery. (And it won?t charge as the icon does not show).
If someone could help me with this I would appreciate it as I have a long train journey next week.

Well, it IS the week after Christmas... Sure we could overhire 300%, but then we'd have to charge more for our products. Not exactly a win-win situation here.

  • Zen V not recognised when plugged into laptop and it won't turn

    Hi,
I just recently discovered this issue after not using my Zen V for a good month or so. Basically when I plugged it into my USB port it isn't recognised - all the software is installed yet it comes up saying new hardware was found with the name "STMP3600" and asks to to insert a disc and install the software. I remember seeing the software CD recently, but I'm experiencing that horrid feeling when you can see it at the front of your mind but you can't seem to quite grasp where it is :smileyvery-happy: I looked on this site but the only downloads are the Recovery programme (says I've not got anything plugged in) and the firmware (can't update if PC says nothing is connected).
I also can't turn it on; normally when its flat it turns on to the 'Creative' screen then flashes up with a battery warning sign and the words 'Low Battery' but this time its not the case. I tried slotting in a thin piece of metal and reseting & turning it on at the same as it recommends to get the internal recovery mode but no joy.
I can't send an email as I can't find the documents with the purchase date (it was from Amazon) and the serial code; I know it was some time in mid 2007 as I purchased it in my final year of University. Can you guess where that paper-work would be?
If anyone can give me some ideas of what to do, I would be very grateful! (And I will continue looking for my CD).

  • MY CREATIVE ZEN M NOT DETECED BY WINDOWS OR ZEN ME

HELLO, i have a serious situation here. i had my zen for about 3 months and i love it. but about 2 weeks ago, i wanted to transfer new music and video to my player. i noticed at first that not all my music shows in my zen media or my windows media. i do have all the componets to my cpu. i have windows xp serivce pak 2 and i have windows media 0. well n-e way, i also have real player. i pulled real player and i noticed that every piece of music and video i have was there. so i decided to sync it to my device using real. at first it transferred, so of course i get ready for bed and i noticed it was taking a while. so i figured when i get up it will be done. well it wasn't, it only transferred four songs and it downloaded everything from my cpu to my device. i had folders in there that i never seen. so i figured let me delete everything and start over, but using windows media. when i did that, it tells me that windows media player does not detect a portabel device, connect your device, and then try again. so i clicked on the web help option that comes with that error to see if they can give me some info. it gives me a code c00d79 and that is the reason why it is not connecting. so i searched the internet to see if i can anything comes under this code, join discussions and also email creative. alot of info i have found in the codes, but not this paritcular one. then i called dell techincal support because that is where i purshaced my zen. they couldn't help me. so today i went to the knowledge support and i found info on the same problem that i am experiencing. so i did everything. checked the device manager. my comp reads that the zen is there, but windows and media doesn't. so i did the back up regristy and also for the usb, still nothing. so it says to contact tech support and of course, there is none, unless u pay a fee. i work long hours and the hours are impossible for me to contact. the only way is if they work weekends and they dont. i am lost at this point. it will be 3 weeks exactly tomorrow that my zen is not working. i can not go another day without my device. i am starting to think i need to return my device for a new one. this is my last option. PLEASE HELP ME!!

    Anyone who can help?
    Please!
At least give me some ideas please.

  • Zen Nano not recognized by AudiblePla

I bought a Zen Nano (not the Plus version) exclusi'vely to listen to Audible books. I installed the software that came with the CD on my Windows 98SE PC, including the Zen Nano version of AudibleManager. When I connect the Nano to a USB port, it is recognized by Windows Explorer as an external hard dri've. It is also recognized by Creative MediaSource Organizer and Creative Zen Nano Media Explorer. I am able to copy MP3 files to/from the Nano and listen to MP3s on the player.
However, AudibleManager insists the Nano is not connected. I have used Audible for years and had no trouble connecting with other portable players such as the Rio500 or two Pocket PC PDAs. When I installed the same version of AudibleManager from the Nano CD on my work laptop, which runs Windows XP, it immediately recognized the Zen Nano when I plugged it into a USB port. So, the problem seems to be related to Windows 98SE. I've installed the latest USB drivers from my motherboard manufacturer and have reinstalled Win98SE, the Zen Nano software, and AudibleManager. The result is the same -- AudibleManager does not see the Zen Nano.
I've been working with Audible support, but they finally threw up their hands and said that, based on the debug report I'd sent them, the Zen Nano is not returning the USB device ID to their application, so it cannot connect with the device under Windows 98SE. They seem to imply that the problem is with Creative rather than with Audible. The Zen Nano is advertised by both Audible and Creative as being AudibleReady. Creative advertises the Zen Nano as being supported under Windows 98SE. Audible advertises AudibleManager as being compatible with Windows9 8SE. Thus, it stands to reason that the Zen Nano should work with AudibleManager under Windows 98SE.
Has anyone else had success with AudibleManager connecting to a Zen Nano on a Windows 98SE system? If the answer is yes, then I'll keep trying to figure out why it's not working on my system. If the answer is no, then I'll expect Creative and Audible to work together to determine if the problem is with the Creative Nano USB driver, Nano firmware and/or Audible plug-in and then provide a fix for the problem. Since the Nano is recognized by Windows as an external dri've, I'm inclined to think it's a localized problem.

Thats the smae thing thats wrong with mine, except I have Windows XP

  • Zen V not recognized and unknown error transf

    Hello,
This is my third Zen during the past two years, and none of them seem to work for at least one week. I bought a Zen V 4GB and have had it for two days and it is already not functioning correctly. I noticed that my songs would be transferred, but everytime I tried to transfer pictures, they just wouldn't. The reason it would give was "unknown error". I decided to download every update I could find for the Zen V (firmware, media source, etc), but the updates wouldn't finish installing correctly (the Zen would freeze after reboot, etc). I had to format the Zen and then install everything all over again, after that, the updates managed to install correctly. Afterwards, I successfully transferred pictures. I turned off the Zen, and when I later tried to transfer music, the unknown error message would appear again, and also other error messages such as "insufficient disk space", which was impossible because I had only transferred 68 pictures. I formated the Zen V once again, and gave it a "reload firmware". I managed to transfer some pictures and music afterwards, but, as soon as I disconnected the player, and connected it again to transfer more stuff, the error messages appeared again. As my patience was wearing thinner by the second, I disconnected the player, and connected it again. Now, the computer doesn't recognize it at all. The Zen V appears to be docked, though it sometimes appear as if it were charging and sometimes it doesn't, but still the computer doesn't recognize it. It says that the player isn't connected. I did notice that on my taskbar, the icon of "Safely Remove Hardware" began to appear. I double clicked it, thinking that the computer was recognizing the?player as a mass storage device, but there were no devices or components displayed on the window.
I really don't know what to do anymore, and I'm tired of having to format it, just so that it'll work correctly once. I don't know if I'm not doing something right, or whatever it is. I just feel very dissapointed. These problems were very similar to?the ones my other Zens (I had?a Zen Micro and Zen MicroPhoto before). Creative just keeps coming up with great innovati've products, but the same problems appear in?every one of them, what's up with that?I really need help with this... Any suggestions? Thank you.

I am having the same problems!

I am not the only one experiences problems, my daughters friend also got one and her dad took it back to the store 2 times before he got one that actually worked. I have called customer service and after spending over an hour on the long distance phone call they were unable to help me and I eventually figured it out myself only to have it tell me the device was not connected IN THE MIDDLE OF DOWNLOADING!!

  • Zen VW not showing up in Media Sou

I have a one year old Zen VW. I recently reformatted my pc, it had been two years on that install and needed it. Anyway when I reinstalled everything back my Zen is not recognized by Creative Media Source. When I connected it via USB, Windows sees the device and asks what I want to open it with. I select Creative Media Explorer. Everything works fine here. I can see files on my Zen and everything else. It just does not show up in CMS. I am asking for help, because I prefer to drag and drop playlists in CMS with my Zen attached.

    ps.
    Thanks for any help.

There is another possible cause - which I found from this board - if you ever had an Iomega driver loaded on your PC e.g. from a Zip dri've, but there are other Iomega drivers around too, this can causes this problem. (Don't ask why............). If you can find a Iomega driver on your PC, you need to delete it. This worked for me - and I had a similar problem to you before I deleted the Zen driver. Honeyrose

  • New Zen MicroPhoto not seen by XP or Vi

I'm a total newbie to Creative MP3 players. Just got one yesterday from Electronica Direct via Amazon's store. Running Vista on an HP Pavilian dual core (just 3 months old so very new cutting edge hardware) and running XP on a 5 year old Sony Vaio laptop. Both have latest MS service paks and security fixes.
Also, I appear to be running latest Creative stuff since when I check for updates it reports it doesn't find any. The Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer reports v5.0.2 and:
Creative Import Wizard File (Version .0.25.0)
Creative Audio CD Ripper (Version 5.00.20)
    Creative Sync Manager (Version 5.20.09)
    Creative Playlist Wizard (Version 3..5.0)
    PIM Editor (Version .3.0.0)
Creative Media Explorer reports on both PCs when Zen MicroPhoto plugged into USB:
"Your player is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to the computer."
I can play the music that comes with the Zen. I have used the supplied cable to plug into various USB ports on both PCs. Each time the Creative Media Explorer reports it doesn't see anything.
Under System info the MicroPhoto reports it is version .20.0.
If I unplug the USB plug from the MicroPhoto and then plug it in the MicroPhoto starts itself up. So does that mean it is seeing something electrically from the PC?
In both XP and Vista if I try to close the Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer clicking on the red X does not close it.
In the HP Vista Device Manager under Portable Devices I only see:
    USB CF Reader
    USB MS Reader
    USB SD Reader
    USB SM Reader
Right clicking and doing "Scan for hardware changes" does not help.
In the HP Vista Device Manager under "Uni'versal Serial Bus controllers" I see Intel chips, a USB Mass Storage Device and a bunch of USB Root Hub entries. No Creative device. Also, doing "Scan for hardware changes" does not help in this category either.
Similarly, I do not see the Zen MicroPhoto in the XP Vaio's Device Manager. The Vaio XP Device Manager does not show a "Portable Devices" entry in the main list.
Also, the Vaio's original USB ports are v.. If plug into one of them I can power up the MicroPhoto. The Vaio also has PCMCIA USB 2.0 extender ports and they appear not to provide enough power to start up the MicroPhoto. Does the MicroPhoto need USB 2.0?
I am open to suggestions for things to try...

Bump... I am having issues with duplicate tracks and allt he other crap that goes with mediasource...any help to get my explorer back would be appreciated.

  • ZEN V+ Not Recognized (Now after ripping err

OK, I see that I am not the only one with this problem.
My daughters ZEN V+ was working fine this morning, she ripped and loaded 5-20 songs when it gave her an error. Since that time the Media Explorer will not see that the player is attached.
I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled it.
    Changed the USB registry thing.
    Upgraded to WMP .
Reomoved the player from the Device Manager, and it installed when it was plugged back in.
However the software used for the Media Explorer still does not recognize the unit.
Very frustrated here, especially since the unit was working great this morning.
    Need help.

  • Problems with Zen MIcro not turning on or

I have a problem with my Zen Micro not turning on or off. The only way to turn it on is to plug it into the power or USB cable :-(
I have done a quick search and the posts that I have found on this topic suggest that I will need to send it back to Creative! Anyone found a "magic" solution for this problem other than sending it back?
I have done a firmware upgrade just in case that would solve the problem but unfortunately it did not.
What with this problem and the earlier problems I had with battery life I am thinking of sending the thing back and going for a different Creative player. The Zen Sleek seems to have a good range of features ... anyone had any good or bad experiences with the Sleek?
    Any comments appreciated.

well..unfortunatly i have had this same problem. i made a topic about it and some of u may have read it..i can't seem to find it now. but i have found the resolution to this problem..send it back! i baught my from circuit city..i just got home from there..very nice guy helped me out at the customer service counter. grabbed my receipt, all the contents it origionally included and the box and headed to circuit city. i did exchange the zen micro for another zen micro. we both converstaed with eahochter about how i have heard other ppl complain about this problem. creative needs to do there homework. hopefully it won't happen to me again.

  • Zen Extra Not Detected after upgr

    Hi All,
I have a 30GB Zen Extra with firmware .03.02 and an XP ServPak 2 laptop with all current critical updates. This morning I upgraded from MediaSource Organizer 2.0.07 to Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 5.0.38.
When I run MediaSource Player/Organizer 5.0.38 it does not detect my Zen Extra (it says "player not connected"). When I run the old version of MediaSource Organizer (version 2.0.07) it detects the player just fine.
I tried to look thru the Knowledge Base but all of my search terms did not provide any useful answers.
Any way to get MediaSource Player/Organizer 5.0.38 to connect to my Zen Extra?
And why is the old version of MediaSource Organizer still on my system? Shouldn't the upgrade delete it's
    Thanks!
    Advait

must be a common issue. Same thing happens to me with my Zen Sleek.
What I'm going to try is deleting ALL Creative stuff and starting over. It is probably a software bug. I don't expect it to work, but I will give it a shot.

  • Upgrade to media source 5 and now does not recognize my Zen Touch player!?

JUpgrade to media source 5 and now does not recognize my Zen Touch player!
st off, I was having issues with mp3's transferring to my zen touch, it would say file cannot transfer, invalid format or something of the like.. The creative audio converter would not allow the file to be converted as it said the source was not availble, all odd as the files worked fine on my computer and were mp3 format. I did get them to transfer after downloading another 3rd party converter, I wanted to get past using another program though so I updated to media source 5, along with firmware updates to most recent for the zen touch.
Once I had updated it would not recognize my player, I opened version 3.xxx whatever and it did recognize. Thinking maybe it has an issue with both being installed I unistalled the old version. Same problem, still does not see my player. I upated the driver for the player as well, and my computer now could see the zen touch instead of unknown usb device, media source 5 no go still at this point. I opened windows media 0 and it saw the player and I could transfer files, but the lay out and editing cababilities are limited.
Basically I want to know what to do get this thing detected so I can use media source 5 to organize my files. Someone please help me.

N Oh how I love the beauty of forums! Fantastic. So you know the fix went for my issue here, I had already upgraded the zen/jukebox driver to version 2.0 to no avail, and did not get the play for sure firmware as it says all data will be lost, but I did upgrade with the other option on the support downloads section before as well to no avail. Thanks to?GuyGraham, after I installed the app update for Creative ZEN and NOMAD Jukebox Plugin 5.00.22 for Creative MediaSource 5 Player/Organizer it works once again!! I just do not see how this file isn't included with the media source 5 application in the first place. Either or thanks a lot you guys, problem sovled!

  • ZEN NX Not Charging

ZEN NX Not Chargingp My player began having charging problems about one month ago. It would charge then I would play it for several hours (while connected to the AC charger) then it would just shut down. When restarted it would display "low battery" and turn off immediately. I bought a new battery which seemed to fix the problem for a week or two then the same condition began all over again. ?
I have removed and replaced the battery and verified there is still a charge in it. I have also tried resetting the player via the reset pin. I have also verified that the AC charger (original Creative unit) is producing specified charge. Nothing changes. ? Still get "low battery" indication. No other icons are visible on the screen.
I have also tried connecting player to a powered USB 2.0 port but that doesn't have any effect either. I'm not sure but believe this player is not set up to charge from USB but thought I'd try. ?
Knowledgebase didn't have any symtoms which are exact match with mine. Here's hoping someone has been through this before. TIA? John

Does the battery charging icon show when it's plugged in the wall charger? Where did you get the battery from? Is it a real Creative battery or a generic?
