Zen Plus video - absolutely ridiculo

I can not load video on to my new Zen v plus. I get "the video file is not valid or recognized".
I pulled one of the videos that came with the player off, and tried to put it back on to the player and get "the video file is not valid or recognized".
How the he** does that work?
I can't convert video files into a conforming format:
From the 'creative media explorer' I click on 'convert video for Zen V Plus' and I get a windows error right away:? "creative ... has encountered a problem and needs to close"
The debug lists about 85 .dlls but doesn't say which one has the problem.
- I completely un-installed, rebooted, and re-installed all Creative software 3 times.
- I tried the software on 2 different (new-ish) computers.
- I scoured the online, Cd and print help documents and manuals and have found no troubleshooting tips re:? the non-functional software, or using 3rd party software to convert video files to a conforming format.
I installed "super c" video converter and tried a *bleep* thousand different options - xvid, dvix, wmv, avi, a million different combos of bit rate, fps etc.
I changed the FourCC thingy properly.
This is pathetic, Creative developers, QA and tech support should be ashamed.
Mod's Note: Leave out the bad language if you wish to post in the forum.

I have had success with the Zen Vision W using the Zencast Suite. However recently there have been reports of video conversion not working with Quicktime related files (mov and m4v) after an update from Apple to 7.2. Checkout this thread:

  • Zen 4gb video qual

I can't beli've how bad the video quality is even the zen v plus shows better. I have high quality videos in the zen4gb & it still shows bad. When buying this player I had high hopes because of its 6.7 million colors on the user interface so I firgured since Creative made that so good the video quality would be good but apperntly the interface is just a cover up of the bad video quality. I just wished there was a way of fixing this.

I neither find it bad.. in fact, my Zen outputs video better than I expected. Except for the blacks not being truly blacks, I find it comparable to iPods that can playback videos.

  • Worse installation problems ever? Zen Plus / Driv

I know this has come up hundreds of times on this board, and you woul dhave thought creative would have taken note by now, but trying to get the Zen Plus working on my PC has been my worse experience ever with consumer hardware. (I've been doing this sort of thing for decades now)?I've never installed and deinstalled so many things, for something which should be as easy as plug in and play. I've literally spent 2 days solid surfing forums and the net for an easy to follow set of steps to get the thing working and still am none the wiser. This is my last cry for help before I send it back to Dabs and write the worse review of my experiences as I can on their site. Basically, I've installed the software that came with it, but when I plugged in my zen plus it didn't recognise it, I then read threads about service packs to windows xp. I installed those and no difference. Followed a thread on installing MEdia Player , tried it but same thing, I read about patches and downloads from? Creative, got them and made no difference. I read a thread about port permissions so changed those, I tried different ports - all with no effect. I've tried umpteen variation of these, installing and de-installing in different orders and I still find myself at the stage where I plug me device is, XP recognises it as a Creative Zen Plus then offers to install the drivers for me. I tell it to search all my PC and the creative CD but it never finds them (never has) then the device appears in device manager under"Other Devices" and listed correctly as "Creative Zen V Plus" but no software either creative or windows media player see the device as connected. The real point is it shouldn't really be this hard, should it's?This was intended to be a christmas present for my daughter but the chances I'll still have it by then have all but gone. What I need to save the day is a simple list of step by step guide of what to check for in terms of software (and more importantly how to check for it) and then some clear and simple steps of what I need to do to get the thing working. Can anyone help?

I think i'm having the same prooblem but with a different creative mp3.

  • Can't Transfer WMA file to Creative Zen Plus

Can anyone help? I've checked out and downloaded a wma from from Net Library. The file plays on my computer in Windows Media Player 0, but when I try to transfer it to my Zen Plus, I get an error.
    Thanks,
    Kathy

First, I assume you are talking about a Zen V Plus 4GB, as there isn't a Zen Plus, as far as I know. I would go back and check NetLibrary for computer and player requirements. Is this a "renew your license for 2 days"(No download, only license to play ) If so, it won't let you redownload the audiobook.
I have found NetLibrary to be very difficult for using with MP3 Players. Make sure that Windows Media Player has downloaded the license and then shut it off. I go to the folder where I store my NetLibrary audiobooks and make sure my player is plugged in and the computer recognizes it. Highlight my chosen audiobook, Then right click, and choose Copy to Creative Zen V Plus, media library. It should download from there. It is a much easier method than trying to use WMP 0/ for the download.
    Hope this helps a little.

  • Creative Zen Plus & Creative Soundblaster Audigy 4. Can the two be linked in any w

Hello and good morning. I've an extensi've collection of music consisting of 35,000 tracks which I play through my Creative Soundblaster Audigy 4 via my hi fi system. In order to access these tracks when using the Creative Zen Plus, I notice it calls up only the file name which is a time consuming effort to get tracks transferred. To your knowledge,is there a way to use the Creative Soundblaster to 'drag and drop' individual tracks straight into the Creative Zen using the 'burn now' facility?
Any help and assistance would be highly appreciated. Thank you very much indeed for your help.
    Alan L.

Didn't your soundcard come with MediaSource? If so, you can transfer the tracks that have already been converted to MP3 or WMV format directly to your player. MediaSource also displays the content by ID3 Tag titles once they've been entered into the Music Library.

  • Creative zen plus works on one computer but it will not connect to my lap

I am trying to connect my creative zen plus to my laptop. I have been using it on my desktop. When I plus it in, I click open songs/files in folder, and it is as simple is that (I drag my songs into and out of my MP3 player).
I just tried plugging it into my laptop, and nothign happened. I then installed the software. Now, when I plug it into the laptop, I get a "found new hardware" message, but I cannot open up the folder to view the files like I do on my desktop. When I click the zen organizer, it says "device not found." Is there something that I need to install or update? I am sure that there is a way for me to be able to use this on both computers. Thanks for the help!

You need to install the software on the laptop before plugging the player in. Uninstall it then load it up again. If that doesn't work, this is the advice I got and it worked first time out:
. Please connect the player to another USB port. Use the ones on the
back of the computer. Remove all other USB devices. If you have another
computer, please try to test the player on that too.
    2. Ensure that you are logged in as Administrator or have Administrator
rights assigned to you on the computer.
    3. Check Device Manager and see if the player is detected.
    a. Click Start and Control Panel (or Settings then Control Panel)
    b. If the Control Panel is being displayed in the Category View (the
option Switch to Classic View should appear in the left pane), click
Performance and Maintenance and System. If the Control Panel is being
displayed in the Classic View (the option Switch to Category View should
appear in the left pane), double-click System
    c. Select Hardware and then Device Manager.
Your player should be listed under Windows Portable Devices. Please
check if the computer sees it as a MTP Device.
If there is an error or a yellow exclamation mark next to the device,
right click the player listing and select Update driver.
Alternati'vely, you can uninstall the device, and reinstall it. Highlight
the MTP player listing, and press the Delete key on your keyboard, which
will uninstall the MTP device; click Actions ,and then click Scan for
hardware changes. Windows will install the necessary drivers.
    That worked fine for me.

  • Zen Creative Video:M Case

<FONT color=#cc0000>Updated edit: See my post later in this thread for the Belkin Neoprene case.
    <FONT color=#cc0000>Keep those suggestions coming! :smileyvery-happy:
    Hello,
I'd like to know where I can find a case for my new Zen Creative Video:M. I know it's new here in the United States, so I haven't found any. Is there a website or place where a case can be purchased? I don't want it to get scratched, and using the drawstring pouch it came with is NOT helpful cause I can't see the screen.
Is a case (hopefully a silicone one like apple has) available anywhere in the world? Maybe I can even order it from Asia? When do you expect to start selling cases for this new MP3 player? And try not to use the white silicone cases, use a different color because white gets dirty quickly.
Also, are there other mp3 covers (maybe for older versions of Zen players) that could potentially be use dfor my Zen Vision, if no other case is available? Please suggest it. Thanks!

    FOUND ONE!!!
Yes, ok, so I think I've found a really great case for my Zen Creative Video:M. It's the Belkin NE (Neoprene Sport Case for iPod) which I bought from RadioShack.
    PRO:
--Has a full-length clear plastic (PVC) for the whole front!!!
--So, you can see the whole large screen.
-- All the buttons are accessible and they all work well and has great sensitivity (even when I set mine to "Low" sensitivity onthe touchpad).
--Perfect fit for my Video:M! Sure, I had to try hard to push it in, but that's how most of these work because of the texture of the case. But it's a perfect fit and I am sure it will mold itself to my player.
--Drawstring Cinch on top, so you can leave it open so that you can have access to the buttons/earphones on the top.
--Good feel in the hand and the sides has a neoprene/rubber type thing that makes me think it's great protection.
--the attached beltclip on the back can be rotated. (no arm band or anything)
    CON:
--Although there is a slot at the bottom of the case for the dock connector, I can't connect it to the player. This is because Creative for some reason made that accessory wider! Argh. So in order to charge or sync, I will most likely have to keep pulling out my player out of this case. This would be annoying, because it means I'd have to take it out and put it in again everytime. It means I'd push it out and in again, and that is not easy. That means the mold will not be as good, it may become looser as I keep doing it.
All in all, at least I found this and can use it right away to prevent scratches between now and the time the good cases come out, It's $20 at Radioshack, and the manager said I could return it if it's not working well for me. If it gets too annoying, I may just cut a bigger hole in the bottom (although it has the rubbery material, so I dunno) since that's the only problem.
Here are some photos and links:

Wow, I think this is the same case, found cheaper at Target: $3

  • Zen Plus not compatible with Creative Media Explore

I have had my Zen Plus for almost a year. Use it primarily to listen to audio books and I love it, but there is one thing that drove me crazy when I first got it, and it still does it, but I have gotten used to it. (I have Windows XP)
When I connect my device via the USB plug, I get a Windows?pop up that says "Portable Device" in the title bar. It then tells me that Windows can perform the same action each time I connect this device. There are several actions to select from:?
. Open device to view files (using Windows Explorer)
. Sync digital media files to this device (using Windows Media Player)
. Manage the device (using Real Player)
. Organize Media files in this device (using Creative Media Explorer)
. Add music to the device (using Yahoo Music Jukebox)
. Manage the device (using Rhapsody)
    . TAKE NO ACTION
Then there is a checkbox below that says "Always take the selected action."
Then you can click "OK" or "Cancel"
If I perform the obvious action (the Creative Media Explorer), I get an error message that says:
"This device is not compatible with Creative Media Explorer. This application will now end".
If I then go to my Start>Programs menu, and open up the Creative Media Source 5 Organizer, my device shows up in the program and I can use it with no problem. It also works if I have the Creative Media Source 5 organizer open before I?connect
    In my Zen.
Don't know why it does this, or how to stop it but, as I stated previously - it is not a problem for me now that I know how to get around it, but it has probably caused a few new users to return their device because they? thought they could not get it to work.

here try this, works for melink

  • (Zen PLUS) Factory Installed Wallpap

I formatted my Zen PLUS after it kept freezing and lost all of the OEM wallpapers that were installed when I purchased it.
I see that others have had this problem, since there is no way to recover them, so I came here but all I can find is?a few?links to off site photobuckets with other?wallpapers that have been resized, renamed, or modified and dont even include the ones I want. In one case a link to a facebook account, that required me to do a friend request, and im still waiting ... kinda crazy if you ask me.
Will someone please post the original factory wallpapers that come installed with the Zen Plus. I only want the?folder with the graphic like swirls , not the places or people folder. Since theres only a few please post them here! you can use the "Insert Image" button in the text format toolbar, this keeps it simple and easy for others.
    Thanks,
    Robert

Good luck in getting it working. My ZMV been down for weeks. No one has a solution, and it's very frustrating.

  • Update For Zen V Plus Video Conver

Is there an update for Creative Video Coverter for my Zen V Plus? I got way to many problems with this converter. It wont let me choose the quality settings, its always set on "Good Quality" 2. When I convert a 3mb video it comes out to 79mb. Please I need a better Video Converter for my Zen V Plus. Its says the player supported avi, xvid, divx, any other codecs when I bought it online now I find out it only supports some format called DIB. What is that? Can download this codec anywhere?PLEASE FIX THIS COVERTER!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunatly the site you bought it from had incorrect information on it. That is quite a bit problem with the internet these days.
When purcashing these types of devices it best to reference the manufacturers website to verify specs just because of situations like this. There isn't an updated converter for the Zen V Plus, it only supports uncompressed video content the form of DIB AVI files. While most content can be converted to the 28x96, 5fps DIB Avi file format supported by the device the files will always end up large due to the fact the device can not support comrpessed video.
Many people have asked for a better codec in a future firmware version, but I doubt the little device has the memory and horsepower to handle mpeg video decoding.

  • Zen V Plus videos on m

Does anyone know how or what format to convert videos to get them to play using a mac? The creative site says avi and thats what I did but it didnt play on my player. Also, how can you change the background picture?

The Zen V Plus does not support the playback of compressed video content.
Which means when you convert an Mpeg video for playback on the Zen V Plus, the video is uncompressed in the final file.
Which is why they get so large.
Typically if you convert a 320x240 mpg file down to the 28x96 5fps video format for the Zen V Plus,? the resulting file will still be 8 to 0 times the size of the original due to the lack of video compression being used.

  • IPhone 6 Plus video quality is extremely poor when on Facetime and when sharing via text/message

I upgraded to the 6 plus from the 4S. Everyone that I facetime with and send videos to via text/message tells me how incredibly horrible the video quality is....especially in comparison to the way it was before I upgraded from the 4S to the 6Plus.  These are people that I have always sent videos to and Facetimed with before, and they all say they can really tell a difference.  So frustrating that my three year old iphone 4S is better than the new 6 plus 128gig that I just paid $500 for.  We have little ones at home and this is one of the main things we use the phone for....to send vidoes and to Facetime with grandma and grandpa.
I'm on the same carrier (Verizon) that I have always been and have not changed anything.  Is there a setting on the phone I can change that will help with this?  I love the phone otherwise, but if it can't do this right, I'm going to return it and get my money back.
Can anyone help? Anyone experiencing this???
    Thank you.

I have the same issue!! Why isn't there any answers to this problem? I became the laughing stock who owns a $1000 iPhone that can't share videos with family and friends.  Please help!!!
