Zen Sleek (Non-Color) is Having probl

My Zen Sleek, about 2 /2 years old, is frozen. the buttons do not work and neither does the touch strip. The only button that does work is the power button. I've tried resetting the player, but i had no results. Can anyone help?

lets just say, after about one year, ur battery dies. ok? the reason there isnt a user replaceable battery is to give it sleekness, making it look so much like the Dell DJ and iPod, but more like the Dell DJ if u look at it carefully. You might want the micro is u wanna save money of buying batteries. when the zen Sleek battery dies, it will cost around $00 US to replace it, plus u gotta ship it to Creative. With the zen micro, it cost $40 for a battery and all u gotta do is order it online from Creative. MUCH MORE CONVIENT eh?

    Any idea why my home computer, which has Windows XP home version, won't give me the option of creating new folders or dragging/dropping files in and out of folders when I open the Zen Sleek dri've on 'My Computer'? And yet on my daytime computer (with XP Pro) it's as easy as anything to open new folders, drag and drop, etc. I, perhaps foolishly, installed all the extra software at home that came with my Creative Zen Sleek thinking this would surely solve the problem, thinking surely somewhere in all that stuff I would find a programme allowing me to open folders and re-organise my files....but no. The screens just remain sort of 'frozen', not allowing such basic functions. Please -- any clues as to the way forward here?Many thanks to the community for all the help on these boards!

    Me again -- just looked at all my files in my Zen Sleek - none of the folders are there. Am I totally off base? Is the Zen system just something other entirely than folder based? Where does a newbie get up to speed? Many thanks.

    Hey i recently have been experiencing problems with transfering music files from my computer to my creative zen sleek 20gb mp3, i've tried using the media source and it will only transfer a few tracks and then the rest just show up as Failed, I aslo tried using windows media player to sync the albums onto the mp3 but it is still doing the same thing, Can somebody please help?Message Edited by toolfan92 on 07-2-2006 0:00 PM

    I have been having transfer problems with my Zen Vision M. I get a few successful transfers through Napster, and then errors. I am not sure what is locking up, but when I unplug and then plug the USB cable from my zen I am able to download a few more then the same thing occurs. I noticed that it occured when Napster forced me to upgrade their software, but I can not be sure that this is what caused it. Anyone else?

    I have a Creative Zen Sleek Photo with Napster To Go. I have Windows XP home edition. I can rip a CD to the hard dri've
    of the computer and transfer music to the mp3 player, but I am receiving a message when trying to transfer music files
    from Napster To Go. The message is the mp3 player will need an update to the firmware to work with Napster To Go.
    The Zen Sleek Photo has the latest firmware. I had been able to transfer music from Napster To Go until recently.
    Napster support referred me to Creative support but the Sleek Photo is past the warranty. Any help would be appreciated.

    I had problems for the first month of my Napster membership (while I was still in the trial period). I nearly went elsewhere, but stayed with it. As soon as the trial period was over, everything worked perfectly. One suggestion is to use the same software for everything. Whether you use Creative media source, Napster's own software or media explorer or any of the others, stick with that one only. Do not give up and go to itunes. What a waste of money!?If you need to reload firmware or try another software, it's worth it.
    I also had some issues getting help. Napster said the problem was with Creative and Creative said the problem was with Napster. Don't give up. Can you get ripped songs in?

  • Zen Sleek probl

    My Zen Sleek has really irritated me as of late. I recently tried installing new firmware to see if that would help, but now, the player doesn't acknowledge that I have songs in my library at all. However, the same amount of space that the songs took up remains the same, so I guess I haven't lost my songs completely. Is there a way for me to back up my songs so that I can put them on a different player?

    ) The firmware I am using is 2.0.03 (which is the same firmware that was already present in my player). I was attempting to reboot it.
    2) I am using Windows XP
    3) I'm not really sure what the third question is asking me.
    4) When I hook my Zen sleek to my computer, a prompt opens asking me whether I wasnt to load up the software. When I do, it says Zen is not plugged in.
    I don't know what is going on.

  • Zen Sleek Photo Transfer Probl

    For the past 2 weeks or so my Zen will not upload music files. The software does not recognize that it is connected at all. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and also following the suggestions provided on the site. Is there anything else I can do?
    Also, another minor problem is that it does not display the name of the songs that are playing.. instead it says select music to play

    I hope you know that there is more than one Zen?

    Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me. I've done a search through the board and have installed everything possible to get my Zen Sleek Photo to work without much success. I've installed Mediasource 5 and the Playsforsure thing, and Vista does recognise my player. I can transfer individual MP3's to my player, but it just seems to store them, it doesn't play them (and they don't show up once I've disconnected from the computer). I'm getting really frustrated with it now, so if anyone can help I'd appreciate it!

    You have an application open that is currently using the the Sleek. That is why you have the icon in the System Tray and the "docked" icon on the player. The firmware installation program is experiencing a conflict as it cannot access your player since it is being accessed by another program and returns the message of "not connected"
    Try moving the firmware installation program to your Windows Desktop and closing all applications. If you are able to get the player connected and not have it display the "docked" icon, you should be able to install the firmware. If Windows prompts you asking you what you want to do?when you connect the player, select Do Nothing.

    My Zen Sleek died last week and it put me in Recovery Mode, because it had a Firmware Problem. Well I've tried Clean Up several times and it gets to 2% and stops, then I have to reboot it. I don't want to Format All cause I've got a ton of music on here. So I did the Reload Firmware thing and I downloaded the latest upgrade (don't remember the number). And I'm past the license agreement, and language selection and when I get to the "Creative Zen Sleek PlayForSure Firware Upgrade" window, it tells me "Your player is not connected, please connect your player". But it is freakin' connected!!! lol... I can usually figure this stuff out on my own but this time?I?don't know what to do, someone help!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Zen Sleek recognition probl

    Hey guys,?I recently got a Zen Sleek off eBay (probably a mistake but anyway...). The player itself is fine and holds some of the previous owners music. However, I've installed the CD onto my laptop (Windows XP, SP2), yet when I try to connect the player to use Media Explorer, the player cannot be found. I've had a look through the Device Manager and I assume that the player is stated as 'MTP Device'. I've tried to install drivers from the CD and even had a look at some on this site but with no joy.   • Zen sleek photo - please h

    I bought a Zen sleek photo today and I'm really dissapointed. Firstly, I charged it, when that was done I turned it on, then it crashed. I reset it and it came on, then I realised that one of the earphones didn't work, grrrr.
    I am also having enormous trouble with the vertical touch pad, it does what the heck it wants regardless of what I want it to do. It took me half an hour just to set the time, I was almost crying in fustration. To top it off, I am unable to transfer most of the music I have tried although the software looks ultra easy to use, much easier than the Zen Nomad.
    Its hard to tell with just one earphone working but it doesn't sound great quality & not very clear at all and its not terribly loud even with the volume right up. Every now & then I get a burst of interferance, its not on the song when played on my laptop and it was from an original cd.
    Its driving me mad, please help! Have I just been unlucky & got a faulty machine?

    You might just be unlucky so you'll probably want to send it back. I have had a zen sleek photo for half a month now and i have had none of those problems. In fact, i've enjoyed having it so far.Message Edited by the_Adam on 06-23-2006 09:35 PM

  • Zen Sleek -WMP 11 - PC Music Library -Playli

    Since December I have been unable to create/edit/delete any playlists using the PC Music Library, ?my preferred method with Creative MediaSource Organiser, on my Zen Sleek 20GB which was bought in Sept 05?& has performed wonderfully until then. In fact the PC Music Library doesn't seem to recognise the Zen Sleek even though it is connected and confirms as much. The Zen Sleek &?the PC Music Library don't seem to synchronise when new tracks are being imported.Around this time I did download Windows Media Player , at first without being aware of the compatability issues and the firmware requirements. I have corrected these and upgraded where required. I have rolled back to WMP0 but this has not changed anything and have indeed gone back to WMP because of this. The only (marginal) success with playlists is with using the Organiser's synchronisation facility but it is very inconsistent in transferring files.Any Suggestions

    My Creti've Zen Sleek got dropped, so only half of the LCD display currently works. I have sent emails to Creative through the website asking for the necessary details so that it can be fixed, but have received absolutely no response. I understand that as it's accidental damage that I'll have to pay for the repairs and have no issue with this, so can someone please let me know the contact details I need so that I can send my Zen Sleek in to be fixed? I'm finding the zero response from Creative very frustrating, as I would like them to fix my device, rather than having to go elsewhere to try to get it fixed.

    I have sent 2 emails, one quoting my work email, which I thought might have blocked it so I sent another quoting my yahoo email address, which doesn't have spamguard turned on, but still no reply.     Hi,
    My 20G Zen Sleek Photo has just recently transformed itself into a useless brick.
    No matter what I try and do, it always ends up freezing after about 5 minutes usage. When you force a reset it does unlock but when it comes back on it sticks on the Creative "copyright" start up screen.
    I've reformatted and re-installed the firmware several times but with the same result.

    The only time it totally unlocks is when you either:
    () let the battery fully drain and then recharge it or
    (2) you disconnect the battery lead and then press the On/Off switch for several minutes.
    I've looked everywhere for a solution/reason but nothing. You find plenty of people with the same problem but no answers. Surely someone knows how to fix the problem
    Is it a faulty battery (unlikely because mine charges up fine and holds it charge well)
    Is it the hard dri've (very unlikely since the player can start up correctly [given the above recovery procedure] and play tracks within the 5-0 minutes you have available)
    Is it the firmware (I doubt it, I can't see what the firmware's got to do with a delayed lock up, having worked fine up to that point)
    Is it the motherboard (maybe....., to my mind it points to a component failure that allows an electric charge to build up and not dissipate, the only way to discharge it is to short the battery pins [with, I hasten to add, the battery removed!])

    Has anyone within the Creative community successfully solved this problem Has anyone received a decent answer from Creative
    I find it staggering that the guys at Creative have washed their hands of this problem. They, after all, are the most likely people to identify the problem - only they have a schematic of the motherboard that would allow them to investigate and locate the problem.
    For the record the firmware I'm using is v .0.0.
    Any guidance would be much appreciated,
