Zen sleek photo: adding songs to an existing playl

I would like to know if songs can be added to an existing playlist. I have read the relevant qustions by other users and the question never gets answered. Someone said that saving a song overwrites the old playlist. And it does but it erases the songs that WERE on the playlist. I want to keep adding songs I like as I am listening to them. Can this be done with and on this player or not?

Done easily, using the software. First add the song to the library, in either "add media" or drag and drop into a folder. Then under. "manage playlists", bring up the existing playlist (right column in window) and then the song (left column in the window - make sure you remember where you put the song!) Click on the song and it will appear in the lower menu, then hit "add song" and it wll be in the playlist.

• Zen Sleek Photo - XP doesn't install player

Hi peeps,
Being a Creative fan :smileysurprised: I decided to add the Zen Sleek Photo to my repertoire of Creative kit (Gigaworks S750 and X-Fi Fatality SoundBlaster).
Well, it arri'ved this morning and after installing the software (except WMP0 as I already had that) I plumbed in the player and after getting the XP bubble "Found New Hardware" and the "Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard", when prompted to install the software for it, all I'm getting is:-
"... There was a problem installing this hardware
MTP Device
An error occured during the installation of the device
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fasion..."
Any ideas as to what the problem is?
Hope someone can help as I'm mega frustrated that I can't even get any of my tunes on it to even give it a whirl - looks nice though
Many thanks in advance,

In reference to SSR's post, sure, I accept that these issues are not exactly unresolvable, but there is TOO much inconvenience involved for TOO many people. It shouldn't be a case of trawling through umpteen websites/FAQ's just to get a vague idea of what *might* be causing a problem. And since it appears these issues are quite frequent (from a commercial aspect at least) IMHO, Creative should attempt to proffer some easier resolution to the potential pitfalls, possibly by adding a few extra bits of software/instructions with the product.
Agreed
Creative should perform more checks on the computer to make sure that everything is required and installed and configured correctly to use the player. The steps listed in the MTP FAQ <a href='http://www.nomadness.net/modules.php?name=FAQ&myfaq=yes&id_cat=8&categories =Nomad+Jukebox+Zen#228' target=_blank>here. Are the most common methods to solve device detection issues. I'm sure Creative is aware of these problems and that these can be done. However Microsoft should be involved as it is their standard and Creative is simply making their products to the standard set out by Microsoft. Hopefully when WMP comes out, Microsoft would implement these changes or even change the way the computer recognizes MTP devices without disturbing the existing programs that do support MTP, like Notmad Explorer and Media Monkey. The suggestions listed in the FAQ are from Microsoft (hotfixes) and the users who have posted on the Creative, Dell, and iRi'ver forums. The suggestions were simply gathered up and put together.
<a href='http://www.myfilehut.com/userfiles/54685/fixup.zip' target=_blank>This file basically does everything listed in the FAQ, just doesn't download the hotfixes for you, but does do the registry changes, the Windows Services, and other things as well. Its a simple solution which I will start giving as suggestions more and more, hopefully it will end up in the MTP FAQ.

• Transfering music from Napster To Go to Creative Zen Sleek Photo probl

Hello
I have a Creative Zen Sleek Photo with Napster To Go. I have Windows XP home edition. I can rip a CD to the hard dri've
of the computer and transfer music to the mp3 player, but I am receiving a message when trying to transfer music files
from Napster To Go. The message is the mp3 player will need an update to the firmware to work with Napster To Go.
The Zen Sleek Photo has the latest firmware. I had been able to transfer music from Napster To Go until recently.
Napster support referred me to Creative support but the Sleek Photo is past the warranty. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I had problems for the first month of my Napster membership (while I was still in the trial period). I nearly went elsewhere, but stayed with it. As soon as the trial period was over, everything worked perfectly. One suggestion is to use the same software for everything. Whether you use Creative media source, Napster's own software or media explorer or any of the others, stick with that one only. Do not give up and go to itunes. What a waste of money!?If you need to reload firmware or try another software, it's worth it.
I also had some issues getting help. Napster said the problem was with Creative and Creative said the problem was with Napster. Don't give up. Can you get ripped songs in?

• Broken Zen Sleek PHoto a week after a Broken Zen Mi

hey folk,i have a problem my creative sleek photo was working perfectly one minute when i was arranging my music on it and then 5 minutes later i went upstairs to listen to it and it wouldn't switch on. i plugged it into the pc and it still wouldnt work. i only purchased it off my mother a week ago and she only had 400 songs on it and it was never really used. the reason i purchased it is because last week my zen micro stopped working and creative told me it was problably the harddri've and said send it in for repair which i didnt as it was out of warrenty. but now my new zen sleek photo is gone. i am so upset and the money this is costing me is alot. i need some advice. does anyone think it could be down to my pc??thanksstephen

Alright so after messing with it till the wee hours of the morning, I have come to the conclusion that it only freezes when trying to transfer certain songs. However, ALL my songs are in the MP3 format. But whenever I try to transfer them, it gets to 00% then freezes. Then I have to CTRL+ALT+DELETE to end the program, clean up and reboot my Zen, then its ready to go again. Still confused.

• Zen Sleek Photo Fro

Hey, I have a Zen Sleek Photo (20 GB) and after adding media to it, I removed the USB cable when it said it was okay to, and it froze on the "Please Wait. . ." screen. The lights are permanently on, I can't shut it off, and when I try to plug the USB cable back in, it says the computer doesn't recognize it. Please Help!. Thanks.

• Zen Sleek Photo and Podca

I just bought a Sleek Photo to replace my very nice (small capacity) Creative Muvo Sport. My first few hours have been disappointment. Rather than listen to music, my plan was to partition a 4-5 gigs for data backup, and leave the rest for podcasts, and some music.
Although Creative has broken the code on music, they have forgotten about the podcast market. Ideally their software would allow automatic importation of podcasts that could be programmed to be listened to once, and then automatically deleted. They could allow a specially flagged folder to offer this destructi've feature. And an instant delete button sequence could remove any podcast you didn't want to finish.
Unfortunately, podcasts are treated like music... there forever. This make deleting and keeping track of listened to podcasts a problem.
I'd also like to see that the 4+ gigs of space accessible without going to dri've mode. It's such a waste of time. Perhaps Creative could allow the podcasts to be copied to, and listened to in this dri've space leaving their music software features in the protected music space?
Finally, it would nice to watch movies. I am surprised that Creative doesn't offer a $0 firmware upgrade to facilitate that.

Hey Chickybabe,
I also own a Zen Sleek photo, and while I haven't had any of the problems you have mentioned with Napster; one problem you should watch for (currently experiencing it for the 2nd time!) is trying to play your music from Napster and not being able to because you get a message saying that "No license to play this track". And it's a huge problem, as it doesn't just affect one song, but your ENTIRE library. I fixed it once and am trying to find out how to do it again. Once I do, I'll probably leave Napster, but I will probably have to download ALL my music again.

• Zen Sleek Photo and Audi

Hi everyone. First let me say for the millionth time how much I love my Sleek Photo. It puts the iPod to shame period. I love my Zen Micro, but my heart belongs to the Sleek photo. it has everything I wanted and more!
My question is, how long will it be before this player is compatible with Audible? I'm using my Zen Micro for now, but want to make the Sleek photo my main player for everything. It has bookmarks so I assume, but we know what assume means:smileyvery-happy:, it will be compatible with Audible.
This is a dumb queastion, but can I not just download the Zen Sleek Audible firmware? I won't with out confirmation of coarse, but except for the photo part are they not basically the same player?
Thanks Creative for this wonderful player. You really do listen to us!:smileyvery-happy:
Judi

DM,
Thanks. I mentioned when I posted that question that it was stupid to ask. I should know better, hey I thought I should at least ask. I know you all think I'm whiny for buying a Zen that is not yet Audible compatible, but this player is just wonderful. I still have my Micro, which is great also, but I'm hoping the Sleek Photo will also be Audible compatible. A tech at Audible told me that if the ZSP has bookmarks it will no doubt be added at some future date. I hope so. Thanks for answering, you are one of the most knowledgeable posters on the forum and I thought I'd get a response from you first.
Have a great weekend!

I'm having a big problem transferring my songs to my new Zen Sleek Photo, and I subscribe to Napster to go. The first 25 songs I have transferred with no problem...but now everything else I try to transfer gets an error message. Even Creative Mediasource Explorer and Organizer aren't working. Anyone have any clues as to what the problem could be? Thanks.

I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how, if at all possible to create a playlist on my 20 gig zen sleek photo mp3 player?without using a computer to build the playlist. I was able to build playlists directly on my Dell?Jukebox, without needing to first build it on my computer.

Is there a way to add songs to an exsisting playlist without using a computer??????????Sincerely,?????????Tony_L

• Zen Sleek Photo Transfer Probl

For the past 2 weeks or so my Zen will not upload music files. The software does not recognize that it is connected at all. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and also following the suggestions provided on the site. Is there anything else I can do?
Also, another minor problem is that it does not display the name of the songs that are playing.. instead it says select music to play

• Zen Sleek Photo, the longer I own it, the more irritated I

I've had mine for maybe /2 years now, and I am starting to desire an MP3 player that actually works smoothly. Sometimes the screen freezes and makes songs skip. Half the time, the sorry software known as Media Explorer freezes and will not let me transfer my music. I tried Media Player for transfers, and it does not even "see" my Zen. And none other of the Creative programs can get around this problem for some reason. Theres a couple gigs of music on my computer that cannot be transferred because of "Unspecified Error"s occurring. I've tried shortening file names, posting on here, numerous resets, and nothing works. Bit rate does not appear to have anything to do with it either, as all the songs that will not transfer do not share a uniform bit rate.
Next, has Creative ever offered any type of Update for the Zen Sleek Photo?
No.
To date, I've never seen one. Unless someone can show me otherwise. This appears to be the blacksheep of the family, because there is practically zero support for this thing. I would imagine that the majority of the problems I've had could be fixed with a simple update, but I may try to pee a hole through a rock instead. At least I know thats possible.
Zune, you're looking pretty good.

Creatives website says there aren't any new updates for me. I hesitate to reformat as I don't want to wipe it clean and then still not be able to add music, pictures, etc. The Zen does work great, just isn't recognized. I've read this same problem with other models and tried the suggestions, nothing works. Any new ideas? I dont' want to buy a new MP3/iPod. Thanks
Have you tried connecting to another computer? not yours maybe friend owns a Vista? You would not have to install ANY Creative software to check.Rear usb ports. Did you have WMP prior to the SP3 update? I know that is a special cord for the player ( i own a sleekphoto) are you using the cord that is made by Creative & not a generic one?The genreics can damage your device. Did you reinstall WMP?You won't need to buy another player since it works.

• Zen Sleek Photo - Problems with connecting device to the comput

My zen sleek photo gives me this error message when I try to transfer nusic from Napster "Your portable device has stopped responding. To restart your transfer, please disconnect and reconnect your device. Tracks will begin transferring when the device is connected."?I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting, this does not work. I have also tried the recovery mode using the Clean up and reboot options. I am afraid to try Format and Reload Firmware, since my MP3 player continues to stop responding. I have also tried?installing Creative Zen Sleek PlaysForSure Firmware 2.0.03 and I get this error message "Your player is not connected please connect your player."? Disconnecting and reconnecting does not work here either. I was successful in initially transferring about 50 - 75 songs from Napster. I have also been able to and still can'transfer music from cd's to my MP3 player. It?appears as though Creative Media Explorer, Creative Media Source Player and?Creative Media Source Organizer are all operating OK with my MP3 player. Could my problem be related to MTP?Any Ideals?ThxRoger Conejo

Can you transfer songs using Media Source, or Media Explorer? Yes, does not work.
What do you mean by this? Can you transfer songs using these programs yes or no?
Sorry, no I can't transfer music. You would first have to let WMP scan the folder where the songs are. Once they are in your Library section right click the songs and choose Add to Sync List. Then click on the Sync tab and click on Start Transfer and it should transfer over. After choosing Add to Sync List. Then click on the Sync tab and click on Start Sync I get this error message from WMP "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct."?Then I click More Information and get this message from the WMP Error Center? height="65" width="400"><!-- HEADGRAPH_END --><!-- Document last modified on Friday, July 30, 2004 at :27 AM -->]C00DD2: Cannot access the fileWindows Media Player cannot access the file. • Zen Sleek photo is great but has terrible softwa

Ok, Im posting this for one reason. The software to edit, transfer, compile playlists, or do anything for the Zen Sleek Photo is horrible. It is very long and tedious to do one simple change. Don't get me wrong I love my Sleek Photo. its great. But editing songs and making playlists in the creative mediasource is really horrible. I had a Zen Micro and it had Creative Mediasource as well, but It was different. It allowed me to veiw all the tracks at once, or all the albums, or all the artists and showed them to me AS THE WOULD APPER IN THE PLAYER. The Sleek Photo has the folders of the music and it is really hard to keep track of your newly transfered music and maybe not yet correctly labeled stuff if you don't know it doesnt have an artist or something. I was hoping someone could help me out? tell me that im stupid and say there is a preference you can choose, or hey here is some third party software, it works great.
That would be wonderful
thanks

• Zen Sleek Photo Connectability Is

I've just recently discovered a problem in the performance of my Zen Sleek Photo. The problem is every now and then when changing songs the player "lags out" and it takes around 20 seconds for the next song to start playing. When the song finally starts playing, it plays little bits of the previous song every now and then. So I decided to go into the recovery mode and do a disk cleanup and reboot it. This apparently caused a whole new set of problems...
Besides the 3/4 of my songs being removed, and the player not displaying what songs are playing, my programs dont seem to recognize the player anymore. So when i connect the player to my computer via the USB connection, my computer is recognizing it, but the Media Explorer and other Media-based programs arent registering it. After looking around in the troubleshooting section of the creative website, I decided to reinstall the program that came with my player. This didnt help anything. So after looking around the website more and searching through the forums, I found myself at a complete loss as to what to do. I apologize for this becoming a novel, but I felt that the clearer I was on the issue, the better help I could possibly get. So if anyone has something to share about this, I would appreciate any help I could get.
EDIT: The previous problem is still occuring, even after the disk cleanup.Message Edited by Datte on 0-0-2006 :02 PM

probably, but with the no connection issue, its hard to take a risk that requires a connection to the computer via USB

how do i put photos onto my zen sleek photo. i have tried doing it through both the creative software that came with the zen and also through media player, both with no avail. please help!

I've been doing it through the Creative software, through the Zen Sleek Explorer, click on "Add Media" and add your pictures. I have also added pictures on the Sleek Photo through drag and dropand thirdly, through Windows Explorer, right click the pictures you want to transfer to the Sleek Photo and you'll get a menu entry "Transfer to Sleek Photo", that's the fastest way
