Zen Sleek Photo and Windows Vi

I have previously posted regarding problems with Vista and the Zen Sleek Photo mp3 player. (The Zen software is not compatible and won?t install.) Vista has built-in drivers so that Vista will recognize the player, but this isn?t much help. (It just makes the player usable as a portable hard dri've, but not much else.)
After exchanging emails with Creative several times, and after some further experimenting on my own, I have put together a procedure that will, in fact, do a full install of the Zen Sleek Photo on a machine running Vista.
It is in the form of a 3 page Word document, and I don?t know the best way to make it available to anyone needing it. Anyone needing this document can email me directly, and I will send it to you as a Word doc.

  • Zen Sleek Photo and Podca

I just bought a Sleek Photo to replace my very nice (small capacity) Creative Muvo Sport. My first few hours have been disappointment. Rather than listen to music, my plan was to partition a 4-5 gigs for data backup, and leave the rest for podcasts, and some music.
Although Creative has broken the code on music, they have forgotten about the podcast market. Ideally their software would allow automatic importation of podcasts that could be programmed to be listened to once, and then automatically deleted. They could allow a specially flagged folder to offer this destructi've feature. And an instant delete button sequence could remove any podcast you didn't want to finish.
Unfortunately, podcasts are treated like music... there forever. This make deleting and keeping track of listened to podcasts a problem.
I'd also like to see that the 4+ gigs of space accessible without going to dri've mode. It's such a waste of time. Perhaps Creative could allow the podcasts to be copied to, and listened to in this dri've space leaving their music software features in the protected music space?
Finally, it would nice to watch movies. I am surprised that Creative doesn't offer a $0 firmware upgrade to facilitate that.

    Hey Chickybabe,
I also own a Zen Sleek photo, and while I haven't had any of the problems you have mentioned with Napster; one problem you should watch for (currently experiencing it for the 2nd time!) is trying to play your music from Napster and not being able to because you get a message saying that "No license to play this track". And it's a huge problem, as it doesn't just affect one song, but your ENTIRE library. I fixed it once and am trying to find out how to do it again. Once I do, I'll probably leave Napster, but I will probably have to download ALL my music again.

  • Zen Sleek Photo and Naps

I'm having a big problem transferring my songs to my new Zen Sleek Photo, and I subscribe to Napster to go. The first 25 songs I have transferred with no problem...but now everything else I try to transfer gets an error message. Even Creative Mediasource Explorer and Organizer aren't working. Anyone have any clues as to what the problem could be? Thanks.

  • Zen Sleek Photo and Nomad Zen X

I posted earlier about problems with Vista and the Zen Sleek Photo mp3 player. The Zen software is not compatible and won?t install.
After receiving some information from Creative, and after some further experimenting on my own, I have put together a procedure that will, in fact, do a full install of the Zen Sleek Photo on a machine running Vista.
I have also discovered that this installation procedure also works for my Nomad Zen Xtra ? a nice bonus!
I will send this info, in Word document form, to anyone who requests it. Just email me at:

It worked for me, and I have received feedback from several people already who have used this procedure with 00% success, so I know that it works!

Hey, ZVM_00, I think these are what you're looking for. I'm not sure which one you want to buy but here they are:

    http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=3&subcategory=264&product=505 0
As far as your problem with connecting, I can't really help you there. It COULD be your computer but I remember someone telling me to use a different USB port than you're already using. If it's plugged into the front of your computer, try using a back port. That worked for me (for a while anyway). Good luck to you two.
And try what I said, it may work!

  • Zen Sleek Photo and Audi

Hi everyone. First let me say for the millionth time how much I love my Sleek Photo. It puts the iPod to shame period. I love my Zen Micro, but my heart belongs to the Sleek photo. it has everything I wanted and more!
My question is, how long will it be before this player is compatible with Audible? I'm using my Zen Micro for now, but want to make the Sleek photo my main player for everything. It has bookmarks so I assume, but we know what assume means:smileyvery-happy:, it will be compatible with Audible.
This is a dumb queastion, but can I not just download the Zen Sleek Audible firmware? I won't with out confirmation of coarse, but except for the photo part are they not basically the same player?
Thanks Creative for this wonderful player. You really do listen to us!:smileyvery-happy:
    Judi

    DM,
Thanks. I mentioned when I posted that question that it was stupid to ask. I should know better, hey I thought I should at least ask. I know you all think I'm whiny for buying a Zen that is not yet Audible compatible, but this player is just wonderful. I still have my Micro, which is great also, but I'm hoping the Sleek Photo will also be Audible compatible. A tech at Audible told me that if the ZSP has bookmarks it will no doubt be added at some future date. I hope so. Thanks for answering, you are one of the most knowledgeable posters on the forum and I thought I'd get a response from you first.
    Have a great weekend!

  • Zen Sleek Photo and I-trigue L3

Does anyone have any experience with using the I-trigue L3800 speaker sytstem with their Zen MP3 player. According to what I've read, the wireless remote will control the player. Anyone out there willing to share their experience? Thanks.

this probably won't help much, but i'm trying now to get this working.
i bought a /8" to /8" stereo cable from Radioshack and so far, no remote control of the Zen (i have a vision:m) is happening. also, no audio from the remote receiver/volume box's AUX IN and only from the subwoofer's AUX IN...which is weird.
i'm guessing i need the custom AUX cable that came with the L3800's but i don't even remember seeing one back when i had the box.
but hey, if i get it working, i'll let you know!

  • Creative Zen Sleek Photo Firmware Download does not recognize my pla

My Creative Zen Sleek Photo recently froze up. After restarting it, the "firmware problem" screen popped up. After reading up on it a bit, I decided to first clean, then reformat, and then reload the firmware. Everything went smoothly until I went to load the firmware back onto my Zen.
For whatever reason a screen pops up that says that my device is not connected to the computer, when it, in fact, is. I have tried several things including uninstalling Windows Media Player and repeatedly cleaning and reformatting in hopes that it would recognize it.
I have had no prior problems with the computer recognizing the device and I have loaded quite a bit of music onto it through this computer. Can anyone please help? Any more ideas? Anything will be helpful and appreciated. Thanks?

HelloHave a look at this thread http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ead.php?t=6328?I had a similar problem with a Zen Sleek Photo and I am sure that this was the thread I used to recover the player when a firmware upgrade failed. Regards?

  • Zen Sleek Photo - Can't reload firmw

I acidentally erased the firmware on my Zen Sleek Photo and I've been having troubles re-loading it. I downloaded the only firmware available on Creative's site for the Zen Sleek Photo and tried to run it, but it keeps saying that my player is not connected. My player is in fact connected and I don't know why it's not picking it up. I know Microsoft Windows is picking it up because I get that pop up that asks what I want to do when a media device is connected. I am basically stuck in recovery mode now because I can't load the firmware. Does anyone know how to fix this?

After hours of searching around the forums, I finally found the solution. I downloaded the hotfixes found here http://ask.americas.creative.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=ww_english_add,U={B8F6030-DA4F-D3-94F4-00500463020E},Company={CEAE26D-879-4C00-AC9F-03BC258F7B70},d=3025443648,VARSET=ws:http://us.creative.com,case=793
They'll fix the problem even if you don't use an online music subscription.

  • Zen Sleek Photo won't boot

I have just bought a used Zen Sleek photo and have been excited about getting it, but I was setting up some playlists in Windows media Player 0, I left the machine to sync and when I came back my Zen was off and now won't start up again. Is there a way to reset it or please please can anyone help with this, as I have so much stuff I want to listen to but the is now useless. I look forward to some words of wisdom. Thanks, HypnomanMessage Edited by Catherina-CL on 09-06-2007 2:3 PM

    Hi Hypnoman,
The player does have a reset, you can press the button inside with a paperclip for instance. It should reboot (and reset) the player. Leave it charging for a while to make sure it has enough power to operate.
When happens when you try to start up the player?
On a seperate note, I have removed your signature, advertising is not allowed.

  • Zen Sleek Photo uploading Audio Book Iss

I have searched the forum and been unable to find any information about problems uploading an Audio Book into my Zen Sleek Photo. I was wondering if someone would be able to help me out? The file is not corrupted, I can play it in Windows Media Player, I just can't sync it into my Zen Sleek Photo. Whenever I try, an error message appears. The same is true when I attempt to use the software with which I downloaded the file (OverDri've).
The file is an audio book?digitally 'borrowed' from my public library and it is protected. I found a post by CATHERINA that she recommended using a Zen Sleek Photo for this same process. I was really hoping someone could help me out.
I did copy and paste the file into the player and?my player told me?I didn't have a license... I then?find out after reading (... on this forum or website... read so much today I can't remember!) that I can't do that b/c the license doesn't transfer over (oops!). I have always had great experience with the Customer Service from Creative so I hope everyone else has and that you guys have some great advice for me.... Thanks!

Thanks for responding!? I have tried following all of the steps they provided at their website. The program itself is pretty self explanatory. The problem always happens mid-transfer. For both WMP and OMC (OverDri've Media Center). I even updated everything I could for the Zen Sleek Photo, and as many of you know there really isn't all that much in the way of updates for it. I downloaded the ZenCast Organizer?thinking I could use it for all media types, not only ZenCasts, but I can't figure out how to put other files than ZenCasts into it. I'm usually not this computer illiterate!
I have tried using Real Player to upload the file as I read here in another post that some people managed to use that to get around file size issues (I think they were able to load smaller files, just not big ones whereas I can't load anything). Error message was reported and the list of errors ranged from not having the correct license (I feel this is incorrect as I can play the files on my computer... is that wrong?)?to the player not supporting that type of file. Does anyone know if the Sleek Photo's have problems with DRM's??I have even updated my WMP to and tried to upload the files again, same error message. Someone mentioned on another thread something about having an error b/c my ID Tags are insufficient for the player. I tried using my sync manager that came with the player, but it doesn't seem to want to do anything. It sat there for about 20 minutes searching or something. It was my last attempt so I got frustrated and decided to hold off on playing with it for a while.

  • Zen Sleek Photo on Win

    Hi.
I recently purchased a Zen Sleek Photo, and I'm very satisfied with it. I've had no problems whatsoever running it on my main computer - running Windows ME - and I think the unit itself is excellent.
I do have one question, however... well, I'm more curious than anything. I am also currently using an older "junk" computer running Windows ME, and I have several MP3 audio files saved on it. I tried installing the software for the MP3 player on the WinME computer, and nothing happened. I expected this, however, as the requirements state a need for WinXP. What I would like to know is this - is there any way I can get the audio files on my "junk" WinME computer onto the Sleek Photo Mainly, I was wondering if there was some way of getting the existing software to work, or whether I'd have to do something completely different. Hell, I'd like to know if there's anything I can do at all.
As I said, I have the Zen Sleek Photo, and the firmware version is .0.0. I don't even know if that's the right number, to be honest, but any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated.
    - James

    James,
The firmware version is correct. As you mention also, the player needed XP OS so you won't be able to use it on Windows ME. What I can suggest is turn on the removable disk mode feature of the player under the Extras menu. Plug it into your ME computer and copy those audio files you wanted to it. After that, connect the player back to the XP computer and transfer those files.

  • Zen Sleek Photo, Connection/software prob

I bought a Zen Sleek Photo 20 GB, installed the software, recharged the battery and connected it properly to my pc. Now my PC gives me a message that it can install the driver, wich I thought i already had by installing the software. anyways, I click OK, but it doesn't seem to find anything, and it also says this, so I click [X]
I register online, all the codes and whatsoever, click Creative Zen Sleek Photo Media Explorer and... nothing 'Your creative Zen sleek photo isn't connected to your PC' it says, but it totally is!
So my pc seems to recignise my Sleek Photo as being a 'Zen Creative' but the software doesn't! something's odd here, since I properly installed, registered and connected it. On 3 different USB's, both direct ports as Hubs.
Now I might also include that although my pc seems to recognise the Sleek Photo, on-screen of my Sleek Photo, there is no indication whatsoever that it notices it's connected to the PC.
I read something about the Firmware ( which I can't install since I don't have Service Pack ).
The MediaSource Organiser seems to be working fine though.
I re-installed the Software TWICE, reseted and disk-cleared the Zen Sleek Photo, but nothing seems to work. can someone help me? I'm really desperate for help
And i totally don't want to have spent ?99.95 ( Plus ?9.95 for some kick-ass headphones ) for nothing here
I think I posted about everything hee now. any ideas or comments? thanx in advance.

I have Windows 2000 so this means I "can't" buy Zen Sleek Photo because it requires Windows XP?
Or is it possible to use Zen sleek photo in Windows 2000 somehow. I don?t need WMediaplayer (0) or Creative MediaSource, they are not so important in use I think.
Can I install drivers to W2000?
(I?m from Finland, sorry for bad english. Hard Rock Halleluja!)

  • Zen Sleek Photo not dock

Alright so, I installed all the stuff that came with my new Zen Sleek Photo and I want to add music like any other person would. So I plug the player into the usb port and I get th usual Windows alert and noise saying I have new hardware. I go through the little wizard and figure I'm all set. I go to start adding tracks and it says there is no device plugged in. So I then decided to install the same stuff on my mom's computer and it works. I get a screen that says "Docked" or whatever on the player and I can actually go in and add music. Now, I would just use that computer, but my music is all on my computer, so this wont work. What can I do to make it work on my computer?

I have SP2 and I just used Windows Update to make sure that wasn't it. This is really frustrating that Windows detects the thing being plugged in, but neither the Creative software or Windows Media Player detects it.
Someone please give me some reason for this. This is my computer.
