ZEN sleek photo, computer not registering

hi I purchased a zen photo sleek today, i charged it up to full, installed the software, and connected my player to the computer. However, a message came up on the screen saying "what do you want to do with the device, explore with zen sleek photo explorer, or media player etc.." i clicked 'explore with zen sleek photo explorer' however when the program started up it stated my player was not connected, which it clearly was, full battery, sitting right in front of me. I tried to register the product, but again it simply said that an unregistered player had not been recognised? can someone please help me, this is very frustrating, and im having to make do with listening to the factory creative music, lol.
cheers,
ALEX

• My Zen Sleek Photo is not detect

Ok, so here's the deal. My computer itself detects the player but none of the software. I've been all over this website. I've changed the registry, I've done suggestions from other posts but nothing seems to work. I'm using the same computer I've always used, just one day it decided to not detect my player. I know that this question has been asked but I've tried everything and I don't know what to do. I even went to my brothers PC and plugged it in and it detected it fine. Ahhh, I'm so frustrated!!! If anyone has any clue as to what would help or if there's anything else I can try that would be absolutely fantastic. I haven't reformatted yet because I don't want to lose all my music and then not be able to put it back on. I'm pretty sure it's not the players fault though. Thanks so much to anyone who thinks they can help. I'm open to anything. Melissa

Hmm.. I'm not sure on this one, but when my zen xtra froze, I had to take a safety pin and press the restart button on mine and select something from the menu.. not sure what it was.. sorry if this doesn't help, but at least it's a start. best of luck

• Zen Sleek Photo "driver not found&qu

Hello, I recently did a repair install of XP with SP2 and after re-installing all of the Creative programs/drivers etc I can no longer connect my ZSP to my computer. Every time I plug the ZSP into the usb port I get a new hardware install dialog box and then it says it cannot install the hardware because no drivers can be found for the product. I have done a clean install of everything from the CD that was included with the player and still nothing. I have read all the sticky on this forum and still no luck. Does anybody have any suggestions? All of the drivers are up-to-date amnd all of the windows updates are complete. I have tried different USB ports, uninstall and re-install of both hardware and software and I have tried just re-installing the drivers. Everything worked perfectly before the re-install of windows so I am confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.Message Edited by Varroa on 09-29-200709:44 AM

Well, ran some program called "fixup" that is suppose to correct some problems with WMP 0/ and creative products and the MTP driver loaded and my player was recognized!

• Zen Sleek Photo - Compatible with iPod accessories

I can't seem to find the accessories for my Zen Sleek Photo that I've had for a couple of years. I didn't jump on the iPod band wagon because I didn't care for iTunes. My main question is that are the iPod accessories compatible with my Zen Sleek Photo I'm looking for a docking system with speakers for my Zen Sleek Photo.

The Zen Sleek Photo does NOT have a USB port but has a slot that is similar to what Apple iPod(s) use (40 GB - 80 GB iPods - not Nano & other Apple mp3 players.
when I wrote USB port, I meant that whole long slot as that's the USB portion you connect to your computer..... I thought you be clever enough to understand...hmm...nvm....Message Edited by justaguy on 2-03-200703:37 AM

• Zen Sleek Photo Improveme

I'm just wondering if Creative ever plans on giving more features to the Zen Sleek Photo through a firmware update. For example, is it possible to be able to listen to music while viewing photos? Or is it possible to other things while you are listening to the radio? Maybe even add some new skins (the current default skins are very poor, not only because they don't look very nice but they are simply difficult to see because of the color scheme)? And how about Windows Vista 32 and 64 bit drivers? I can't remember for sure now, but when I think when I tried Vista out, the Zen Sleek Photo did not like Windows Media Player or IE7...will this at least be fixed?
I would really like to see certain things fixed with the Zen Sleek Photo through a firmware update of some-sort, I believe this player has more potential. Is it possible for at least one company out there to just try making a simgle quality product that is reasonably priced and is well supported instead of just creating more players...each with a few more features than the last. Of course, how would you worm every possible cent out of our pockets then, eh?

Dear people of the ZEN world. Please do not bang on Creative. They design their products that will work on current operating systems. It seems like the only time problems crop up is when M*oft designs new software, then there are problems. Wish they just fixed existing problems not create more. I have the Sleek Photo and it works flawlessly with XP Home. I did not install the optional media software from M*oft for fear it would screw something up. Just installed what came from Creative and between that and explorer I can do all that you can do with Sleek Photo, play music and view photos. If I want to keep a schedule I will use a note book, not waste space on Sleek Photo. So please, once again, do not bang on Creative. Look at it this way, you buy a new car, now before you can dri've it you have to fix or rebuild the road in front of you. Thank you and have a nice day ;DMessage Edited by z2z3z4z on -3-200609:20 AM

• Zen Sleek Photo cannot be switched

From one day to another, my new Zen Sleek Photo can not be switched on anymore. Yesterday I charged it, so I am a bit worried. Especially because the on/off button still is lit, but nothing happens when I press it.
Usually when the batterie is low, the screen lits with that message when I press the on/off button. In combination with the fact that I charged the device yesterday and did not use it that much, I am worried something is broken.
Or can somebody say it is still possible with the on/off button lit, that the battery is too low to display the message that it needs to be charged? But still, how can it be that the player is empty, if it automatically switches off when nothing happens? Sure, it's possible I left it on while playing, but it plays album time and then sto
ps.
And if it doesn't detect any user-activity, it automatically switches off after 5 minutes.
Has anyone got the same problem and knows the sollution for it's
Please help, thanks!!
Best regards,
Maarten (Holland)

Hi Maarten,
If it's already charged, try resetting the player to see if it will start up then. If it hasn't been charged or you're not sure, leave it charging for a while first and then try the reset.
If this does not help, then I would advise contacting Customer Support directly for assistance, as there could be a problem with the unit.

• Creative Zen Sleek Photo Firmware Download does not recognize my pla

My Creative Zen Sleek Photo recently froze up. After restarting it, the "firmware problem" screen popped up. After reading up on it a bit, I decided to first clean, then reformat, and then reload the firmware. Everything went smoothly until I went to load the firmware back onto my Zen.
For whatever reason a screen pops up that says that my device is not connected to the computer, when it, in fact, is. I have tried several things including uninstalling Windows Media Player and repeatedly cleaning and reformatting in hopes that it would recognize it.
I have had no prior problems with the computer recognizing the device and I have loaded quite a bit of music onto it through this computer. Can anyone please help? Any more ideas? Anything will be helpful and appreciated. Thanks?

HelloHave a look at this thread http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ead.php?t=6328?I had a similar problem with a Zen Sleek Photo and I am sure that this was the thread I used to recover the player when a firmware upgrade failed. Regards?

Hi i had this problem too and the solution was amazingly simple. (I found it by searching on Google for ages!) Turn your pc off and then unplug it from the mains for approximately 30 mins. I know it sounds crazy but apparantly static electricity can cause problems with usb devices particularly if you have your device already plugged in to USB port-Windows forgets its there! After 30 mins plug your pc back in to the mains and voila! your Zen will be recognised again.
2:44 AM : After 30 minutes of trying to fall asleep with no success turned on computer and connected the Zen... Didn't have much expectations, but IT WORKED! IT REALLY DID! WINDOWS FOUND THE DEVICE CORRECTLY AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING NOW!

• Zen Sleek Photo - Problems with connecting device to the comput

My zen sleek photo gives me this error message when I try to transfer nusic from Napster "Your portable device has stopped responding. To restart your transfer, please disconnect and reconnect your device. Tracks will begin transferring when the device is connected."?I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting, this does not work. I have also tried the recovery mode using the Clean up and reboot options. I am afraid to try Format and Reload Firmware, since my MP3 player continues to stop responding. I have also tried?installing Creative Zen Sleek PlaysForSure Firmware 2.0.03 and I get this error message "Your player is not connected please connect your player."? Disconnecting and reconnecting does not work here either. I was successful in initially transferring about 50 - 75 songs from Napster. I have also been able to and still can'transfer music from cd's to my MP3 player. It?appears as though Creative Media Explorer, Creative Media Source Player and?Creative Media Source Organizer are all operating OK with my MP3 player. Could my problem be related to MTP?Any Ideals?ThxRoger Conejo

Can you transfer songs using Media Source, or Media Explorer? Yes, does not work.
What do you mean by this? Can you transfer songs using these programs yes or no?
Sorry, no I can't transfer music. You would first have to let WMP scan the folder where the songs are. Once they are in your Library section right click the songs and choose Add to Sync List. Then click on the Sync tab and click on Start Transfer and it should transfer over. After choosing Add to Sync List. Then click on the Sync tab and click on Start Sync I get this error message from WMP "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct."?Then I click More Information and get this message from the WMP Error Center? height="65" width="400"><!-- HEADGRAPH_END --><!-- Document last modified on Friday, July 30, 2004 at :27 AM -->]C00DD2: Cannot access the fileWindows Media Player cannot access the file. Apologies, I just noticed this was a Sleek Photo, rather than the original Sleek.
I'm guessing the Sleek Photo must be PlayForSure, so for some reason Windows is not picking up the MTP device driver. You can try forcing Windows, through Device Manager, to look in the directory C:\WINDOWS\INF where the MTP driver information is located.
Failing that, have a look at the link "problems with connecting using MTP firmware" in the FAQ post.
