Zen Sleek Photo Menu Flow Cha

Hi, I recently destroyed the LCD on my Zen Sleek Photo, but i can still operate the player, just blindly. I have gotten pretty good at it, but there are some sections which i can't guess at all, such as the drop down menu that controls things like random play and such. I was wondering if anyone has a flow chart image for the menus, or if someone would be so kind as to tell me where things are on the drop down menu, or at the very least, how to turn random play off, ie., press drop down, down 4, click, down , etc. Thanks alot!!
ah, by menus i mean the options drop down of course, as i have edited the main menu, and i have no clue whats there now hah. thanks again.

Zen Sleek Photo - Problems with connecting device to the comput

My zen sleek photo gives me this error message when I try to transfer nusic from Napster "Your portable device has stopped responding. To restart your transfer, please disconnect and reconnect your device. Tracks will begin transferring when the device is connected."?I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting, this does not work. I have also tried the recovery mode using the Clean up and reboot options. I am afraid to try Format and Reload Firmware, since my MP3 player continues to stop responding. Sorry, no I can't transfer music. You would first have to let WMP scan the folder where the songs are. Once they are in your Library section right click the songs and choose Add to Sync List. Then click on the Sync tab and click on Start Transfer and it should transfer over. After choosing Add to Sync List. Then click on the Sync tab and click on Start Sync I get this error message from WMP "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. how do i put photos onto my zen sleek photo. i have tried doing it through both the creative software that came with the zen and also through media player, both with no avail. please help!

I've been doing it through the Creative software, through the Zen Sleek Explorer, click on "Add Media" and add your pictures. I have also added pictures on the Sleek Photo through drag and dropand thirdly, through Windows Explorer, right click the pictures you want to transfer to the Sleek Photo and you'll get a menu entry "Transfer to Sleek Photo", that's the fastest way

Zen Sleek Photo on Win

Hi.
I recently purchased a Zen Sleek Photo, and I'm very satisfied with it. I've had no problems whatsoever running it on my main computer - running Windows ME - and I think the unit itself is excellent.
I do have one question, however... well, I'm more curious than anything. I am also currently using an older "junk" computer running Windows ME, and I have several MP3 audio files saved on it. I tried installing the software for the MP3 player on the WinME computer, and nothing happened. I expected this, however, as the requirements state a need for WinXP. What I would like to know is this - is there any way I can get the audio files on my "junk" WinME computer onto the Sleek Photo Mainly, I was wondering if there was some way of getting the existing software to work, or whether I'd have to do something completely different. Hell, I'd like to know if there's anything I can do at all.
As I said, I have the Zen Sleek Photo, and the firmware version is .0.0. I don't even know if that's the right number, to be honest, but any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated.

The firmware version is correct. As you mention also, the player needed XP OS so you won't be able to use it on Windows ME. What I can suggest is turn on the removable disk mode feature of the player under the Extras menu. Plug it into your ME computer and copy those audio files you wanted to it. After that, connect the player back to the XP computer and transfer those files.

I have just recieved my wonderful new Zen Sleek Photo 20GB, and right now I am only allowed to test it (Christmas present ^^)
I am very impressed with the player, absolutely wonderful
Of course there are a few problems/annoyances with the player.
I haven't been able to thoroughly look at the player, but a few things have come to my mind already.
I am sorry if this thread is perhaps too big :-/ But I really like the Creative MP3 players and want to enjoy my player as much as possible and recommend them to my friends.

The most annoying thing is with Artist names!
When you browse the artists, it looks for COMPLETE ONES, exactly as in the tag.
This is a very big problem for me... I would really prefer having it search IN the tags..
So if I look for Dr. Dre, it will find him with ANY of the features in the song.
I don't want it to display about 30 different ones with him in...
For example:
Dr. Dre
Dr. Dre, Mel Man
Dr. Dre, Hitman, Eve
Dr. Dre, Eminem
Dr. Dre, Hitman, Eve, Eminem
etc etc etc
This becomes very annoying and makes an extremely long list.
So what I would like to see, is that it just shows Dr. Dre as ONE artists, and then show his albums with ANY of the featured artists, not only solos.
Secondly......

This isn't much of an inconvenience, but it would be a nice little feature
So you can set or there is automatically an image set for the folder, so you don't have to wait for the address to display at the bottom. That is a bit too long sometimes too with the /pictures etc (If I remember correctly *hope*)
I really hope Creative gets around to making some additions to the firmware, user contact is the key to user satisfaction.
Something else I should say, is the products need updating on various area-specific creative sites. The Sleek wasn't even on some.
I couldn't search for any updates to the sleek photo as it wasn't on the US site for updates either.

This range of players have always worked from tag data, so it will always show what's in the tags. If you want to see different data then it's a case of changing the tags.
Similarly the search works on start of string data, rather than searching as a substring. It might be too much for the small brain of this player to do substring searching, but still a good wishlist item. No Creative players do substring searching to-date.

I guess it might be a case of adjusting the pixels and aspect ration of the file?
I don't have the player, so just a guess.
Still a nice wishlist for pictures you don't want to have to mess with.

There's a petition on this for the Micro Photo. Clearly Creative have listened as the Zen Vision:M will be able to do this, and hopefully they'll backtrack firmware for the Micro and Sleek Photo to do it also.

Again, see the Vision:M. It does all this.
I couldn't search for any updates to the sleek photo as it wasn't on the US site for updates either.
Did you try the European site? Ultimately it's very new so they might not be any updates.
What with the similar release times of the Sleek Photo and Vision:M it might be that regions forego the Sleek Photo and replace with the Vision:M anyway.

Missing metal insert for headphones on zen sleek photo

I have a zen sleek photo and the little metal insert that goes where the headphones plug in fell out and I can't find it and was wondering if anyone knew how I might get another one. I don't even know what it is called but its the little metal thing where you plug your headphones into.

I have noticed this when I have used my Sleek Photo with other headphones (I don't use the out of the box ones).
This usually happens when you have Smart Volume enabled. I would go to the main menu screen, then choose system-->audio settings-->Smart Volume, and see if this is set to "on". If it is, try turning it off, and see if the volume improves.

Creative Zen Sleek Photo Firmware Download does not recognize my pla

My Creative Zen Sleek Photo recently froze up. After restarting it, the "firmware problem" screen popped up. After reading up on it a bit, I decided to first clean, then reformat, and then reload the firmware. Everything went smoothly until I went to load the firmware back onto my Zen.
For whatever reason a screen pops up that says that my device is not connected to the computer, when it, in fact, is. I have tried several things including uninstalling Windows Media Player and repeatedly cleaning and reformatting in hopes that it would recognize it.
I have had no prior problems with the computer recognizing the device and I have loaded quite a bit of music onto it through this computer. Can anyone please help? Any more ideas? Anything will be helpful and appreciated. Thanks?

Zen Sleek Photo Freezes/Locks Up after about 5 minutes usage (need to drain battery to recov

My 20G Zen Sleek Photo has just recently transformed itself into a useless brick.
No matter what I try and do, it always ends up freezing after about 5 minutes usage. When you force a reset it does unlock but when it comes back on it sticks on the Creative "copyright" start up screen.
I've reformatted and re-installed the firmware several times but with the same result.

The only time it totally unlocks is when you either:
() let the battery fully drain and then recharge it or
(2) you disconnect the battery lead and then press the On/Off switch for several minutes.
I've looked everywhere for a solution/reason but nothing. You find plenty of people with the same problem but no answers. Surely someone knows how to fix the problem
Is it a faulty battery (unlikely because mine charges up fine and holds it charge well)
Is it the hard dri've (very unlikely since the player can start up correctly [given the above recovery procedure] and play tracks within the 5-0 minutes you have available)
Is it the firmware (I doubt it, I can't see what the firmware's got to do with a delayed lock up, having worked fine up to that point)
Is it the motherboard (maybe....., to my mind it points to a component failure that allows an electric charge to build up and not dissipate, the only way to discharge it is to short the battery pins [with, I hasten to add, the battery removed!])

I find it staggering that the guys at Creative have washed their hands of this problem. They, after all, are the most likely people to identify the problem - only they have a schematic of the motherboard that would allow them to investigate and locate the problem.
For the record the firmware I'm using is v .0.0.
Any guidance would be much appreciated,

You do not need to install the software on the disc. The driver is nati've to the Vista OS. Windows Media Player can Sync to the player rip cds, ect.

Transfering music from Napster To Go to Creative Zen Sleek Photo probl

I have a Creative Zen Sleek Photo with Napster To Go. I have Windows XP home edition. I can rip a CD to the hard dri've
of the computer and transfer music to the mp3 player, but I am receiving a message when trying to transfer music files
from Napster To Go. The message is the mp3 player will need an update to the firmware to work with Napster To Go.
The Zen Sleek Photo has the latest firmware. I had been able to transfer music from Napster To Go until recently.
Napster support referred me to Creative support but the Sleek Photo is past the warranty. Any help would be appreciated.

I had problems for the first month of my Napster membership (while I was still in the trial period). I nearly went elsewhere, but stayed with it. As soon as the trial period was over, everything worked perfectly. One suggestion is to use the same software for everything. Whether you use Creative media source, Napster's own software or media explorer or any of the others, stick with that one only. Do not give up and go to itunes. What a waste of money!?If you need to reload firmware or try another software, it's worth it.
I also had some issues getting help. Napster said the problem was with Creative and Creative said the problem was with Napster. Don't give up. Can you get ripped songs in?

Zen Sleek Photo gets USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNI

I have ZEN Sleek Photo which i use for about a week now.
Today I connected the player to the computer and got
"USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED" window in Win XP
and the Zen Photo froze.
Disconnected it, reset it using a pin, then turn it on and it's "re-building library"
It works good as a player but i can't connect it to the computer.
Tried restarting the computer, restoring the windows to a previous day, connected to all possible USB ports nothing hel
ps.

Zen Sleek Photo on Windows 98

My 20GB Zen Sleek Photo arri'ved today, but my computer won't let me run the installation disc. It keeps giving me a message saying that the Windows operating system on my computer is not supported by the product. Is there any way of getting around this? I would appreciate it if someone couple help, thanks.

Unfortunately, as the system requirements (on the site and box) detail, this player requires WindowsXP (with SP or later) or Windows XP Professional x64 edition. Windows98SE is not supported.

ZEN SLEEK PHOTO & WINDOWS 98 SE!! AAAAAARGGH!

Apologies in advance if this problem has already been raised and addressed, but due to a mismatch of information, I find I have now invested in a lovely mp3 player (namely ZEN SLEEK PHOTO) I can't use. The problem? It's mimimum OE requirement is XP and I'm still running WINDOWS 98 SE. Okay, obviously the solution (ahem) is to upgrade to the XP System, but, I'm hearing all sorts of talk of driver updates, installations, fixes etc and wondered if someone knew of any available remedy here on Creative. At the present time, the installation disc is not chuffed with the OE system and I can get no further.
Anyone have any nice, straight-forward step-by-step solution they'd care to share?

It's a PlaysForSure device, and uses the same drivers any other PlaysForSure device uses. It's standardized.
I've finished downloading the drivers required. Do I now just need to connect my player or am I required to install the software on the ZEN SLEEK PHOTO first? The last time this was unsuccessful because of the Operating System. So if all this works, I'm guessing that it will be a case of transferring mp3 files (hopefully straight from my hard dri've through WMP) into the Zen player.
Can you please confirm the procedure using WMP?
