Zen Sleek Photo, the longer I own it, the more irritated I

I've had mine for maybe /2 years now, and I am starting to desire an MP3 player that actually works smoothly. Sometimes the screen freezes and makes songs skip. Half the time, the sorry software known as Media Explorer freezes and will not let me transfer my music. I tried Media Player for transfers, and it does not even "see" my Zen. And none other of the Creative programs can get around this problem for some reason. Theres a couple gigs of music on my computer that cannot be transferred because of "Unspecified Error"s occurring. I've tried shortening file names, posting on here, numerous resets, and nothing works. Bit rate does not appear to have anything to do with it either, as all the songs that will not transfer do not share a uniform bit rate.
Next, has Creative ever offered any type of Update for the Zen Sleek Photo?
No.
To date, I've never seen one. Unless someone can show me otherwise. This appears to be the blacksheep of the family, because there is practically zero support for this thing. I would imagine that the majority of the problems I've had could be fixed with a simple update, but I may try to pee a hole through a rock instead. At least I know thats possible.

Creatives website says there aren't any new updates for me. I hesitate to reformat as I don't want to wipe it clean and then still not be able to add music, pictures, etc. The Zen does work great, just isn't recognized. I've read this same problem with other models and tried the suggestions, nothing works. Any new ideas? I dont' want to buy a new MP3/iPod. Thanks
Have you tried connecting to another computer? not yours maybe friend owns a Vista? You would not have to install ANY Creative software to check.Rear usb ports. Did you have WMP prior to the SP3 update? I know that is a special cord for the player ( i own a sleekphoto) are you using the cord that is made by Creative & not a generic one?The genreics can damage your device. Did you reinstall WMP?You won't need to buy another player since it works.

Zen Sleek Photo - Problems with connecting device to the comput

My zen sleek photo gives me this error message when I try to transfer nusic from Napster "Your portable device has stopped responding. To restart your transfer, please disconnect and reconnect your device. Tracks will begin transferring when the device is connected."?I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting, this does not work. I have also tried the recovery mode using the Clean up and reboot options. I am afraid to try Format and Reload Firmware, since my MP3 player continues to stop responding. I have also tried?installing Creative Zen Sleek PlaysForSure Firmware 2.0.03 and I get this error message "Your player is not connected please connect your player."? Disconnecting and reconnecting does not work here either. I was successful in initially transferring about 50 - 75 songs from Napster. I have also been able to and still can'transfer music from cd's to my MP3 player. It?appears as though Creative Media Explorer, Creative Media Source Player and?Creative Media Source Organizer are all operating OK with my MP3 player. Sorry, no I can't transfer music. You would first have to let WMP scan the folder where the songs are. Once they are in your Library section right click the songs and choose Add to Sync List. Then click on the Sync tab and click on Start Transfer and it should transfer over. After choosing Add to Sync List. Then click on the Sync tab and click on Start Sync I get this error message from WMP "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. ZEN SLEEK PHOTO & WINDOWS 98 SE!! AAAAAARGGH!

Apologies in advance if this problem has already been raised and addressed, but due to a mismatch of information, I find I have now invested in a lovely mp3 player (namely ZEN SLEEK PHOTO) I can't use. The problem? It's mimimum OE requirement is XP and I'm still running WINDOWS 98 SE. Okay, obviously the solution (ahem) is to upgrade to the XP System, but, I'm hearing all sorts of talk of driver updates, installations, fixes etc and wondered if someone knew of any available remedy here on Creative. At the present time, the installation disc is not chuffed with the OE system and I can get no further.
Anyone have any nice, straight-forward step-by-step solution they'd care to share?

I've finished downloading the drivers required. Do I now just need to connect my player or am I required to install the software on the ZEN SLEEK PHOTO first? The last time this was unsuccessful because of the Operating System. So if all this works, I'm guessing that it will be a case of transferring mp3 files (hopefully straight from my hard dri've through WMP) into the Zen player.
Can you please confirm the procedure using WMP?

I lost my zen sleek photo installation cd and now need the drivers, what should i do'? could anyone upload somewhere the installation cd image file?

I had the same problem. After stumbling around I finally clicked the "Identify Your Product" link in the "Downloads" section and then selected MP3 players. This gave me a page listing all the MP3 devices with their product numbers (http://93.95.7.84/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCG....com,case=0848). From this page, I selected the Zen Sleek (NOT the?Photo!). Has there been any official confirmation that there will be a Zen Sleek Photo I mean I've seen the pictures, but even my grandmother can use photoshop these days...
Also, assuming it is for real...is there an official release date?

I have never seen it in Singapore. Also, we don't get all the new stuff. In fact, I haven't seen an actual Sleek, much less Sleek Photo. However, we do have the Microphoto.

You can give firmware update a try but I'm afraid what coachop said is true. I don't have personal experience with screen replacements but sounds like this is the path where you're heading.

Zen Sleek Photo Menu Flow Cha

Hi, I recently destroyed the LCD on my Zen Sleek Photo, but i can still operate the player, just blindly. I have gotten pretty good at it, but there are some sections which i can't guess at all, such as the drop down menu that controls things like random play and such. I was wondering if anyone has a flow chart image for the menus, or if someone would be so kind as to tell me where things are on the drop down menu, or at the very least, how to turn random play off, ie., press drop down, down 4, click, down , etc. Thanks alot!!

Ok guys, I've bought a Zen Sleek Photo 4 days ago...the first time I've plugged in ,it worked, but not from the second time, I've changed it with another because I'd thought it was a player problem... I got another one then and still...the first time it worked but now it says it isn't connected and it says : not recognised...what should I do? Using Zen Micro and Zen Sleek Photo software on one compu

I have had a Zen Micro for a while. No problems using it. I just bought a Zen Sleek Photo. I am going to let my daughter use the Micro and I will be using the Sleek Photo but haven't set it up yet. Can I use the software that I loaded for the Zen Micro for the Zen Sleek Photo to load music and recharge the battery? I checked on the Zen Micro- system information it is version 2..02. But I am assuming the Zen Micro software will not work on the Sleek Photo. I have only one computer and want to be able to use both MP3 players. So do I have to delete the Micro software before loading the Sleek photo software? Will the Sleek photo software work with the Micro to load music into the Micro and let me recharge the battery? I have windows XP and windows media player 0.

The Zen Micro Photo uses MTP for accessing the unit. If it is detected in WMP0 properly, then that is all you REALLY need. You may find the Micro Photo Media Explorer software usefull if you intend to use the contacts / tasks items, but that is the only program I would say is "needed" to get full function.

I am looking for a MP3 Player and recorder that has the following:
. Quality line-in recording capabilities, preferably built in, but if not at least avaible through and attachment or something.
2. Quality voice recording capibilities to MP3 files.
3. Variable Sample Rate
4. Variable Bit Rate
5. A very good Signal to noise ratio.
6. At least 2 gig (perferably much more) of dri've space.
I am not so concerned about Radio capabilities.
I am not so concerned about size and weight.
I am mainly using the player/recorder to record classes that are hooked up to a stereo system (hence the
need for quality line-in recording) as well as classes that are not hooked up to a audio system, hence the need for quality microphone recording.
I want high quality recordings, but with some flexibilty regarding things like sample rate if file size becomes an issue.
I would like not to have to constantly upload my recordings to my PC, hence the need for substantial dri've space.
I am curious about the Creative Zen Sleek Photo (20 GB). It seemed to have a lot of what I was looking for. Is the bit rate adjustable and is there line-in recording for this model?
Please let me know what products are avaible that have what I am looking for.

Nope, I havent seen any complaints about the MicroPhoto's headphone jack, and I have had no problems with mine.
You should be fine with it. And keep your eyes open for the sales, I saw Best Buy selling the 8GB for $30.

Zen Sleek Photo- the backgrou

I have recently recieved another zen sleek photo as i broke my previous one. I am extremely pleased with it, however, the photo/ backgrounds which came with my new player are not the same as the old ones and there is one inparticular (the blue and orange flowers) that i would like to get back. Please could anyone post back with a way that either i could get them off creative, or perhaps someone would e mail them me.

Why did you erase the firmware?The only thing you may have needed to do was to cleanup>reboot the player. The firmware updater file was written to be used on Xp with WMP0 ONLY so you will have to go back to a XP computer to reload the firmware. If the device completed the scan disc & format successfully then your hardri've should be fine. Charge the battery or have it connected to a wall charger so you don't have a dead battery while doing the firmware reload.
