Zen Sleek Playlists query

I am tempted to buy a sleek - but does anyone have one, or seen the playlist options.
In particular can the tracks and order of tracks be moved around in a playlist.
This was available on the Zen Xtra's, but I understand was taken off with the Zen Touch.
Has it been reinstated? Any Ideas

Yup.
Now if only I could install the playsforsure update which Creative claim is on the installation disk...
I'm beginning to feel like all the Zen Touch/Xtra users... Where is that firmware update?!

  • Creating Playlists using only the creative Zen Sleek Photo 20 gig MP3 pla

    Hi,
I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how, if at all possible to create a playlist on my 20 gig zen sleek photo mp3 player?without using a computer to build the playlist. I was able to build playlists directly on my Dell?Jukebox, without needing to first build it on my computer.

Hello Again Jason,?I apologize in advance for being a pest, but it didn't dawn on me until after I replied to your e-mail that I had one more question about playlists on the go, and I would be very grateful for any help you can give me.
Is there a way to add songs to an exsisting playlist without using a computer??????????Sincerely,?????????Tony_L

  • Zen Sleek -WMP 11 - PC Music Library -Playli

Since December I have been unable to create/edit/delete any playlists using the PC Music Library, ?my preferred method with Creative MediaSource Organiser, on my Zen Sleek 20GB which was bought in Sept 05?& has performed wonderfully until then. In fact the PC Music Library doesn't seem to recognise the Zen Sleek even though it is connected and confirms as much. The Zen Sleek &?the PC Music Library don't seem to synchronise when new tracks are being imported.Around this time I did download Windows Media Player , at first without being aware of the compatability issues and the firmware requirements. I have corrected these and upgraded where required. I have rolled back to WMP0 but this has not changed anything and have indeed gone back to WMP because of this. The only (marginal) success with playlists is with using the Organiser's synchronisation facility but it is very inconsistent in transferring files.Any Suggestions

  • Microsoft Media Player Update Desynchronized most songs on Zen Sleek, gutted playli

A recent Microsoft Media Player update really messed up my Zen Sleek. It has coexisted politely for some time, but with this upgrade, I first noticed that my playlists had been mostly emptied, then that I could not add songs back to them because even though they were on my computer, they were no longer available for selection in Manage Playlists. I solved the problem of the Zen Sleek not being able to see songs in my computer by using?the Microsoft Media Player to ?resynchronize my song collection to the Zen, but this did not restore the playlists, which represent untold hours of work to assemble and arrange. All that appears in the playlists?currently are the songs (the minority, to be sure) that were not taken out of sync by the Microsoft Media Player update. How do I restore my playlists to their former condition, now that I can access all my music again??

can you create playlists on the fly?
You can certainly add files to the queue, and then save the queue as a playlist.
how is the zen media software?
The Sleek has a couple of bits of software (MediaSource and the Sleek Explorer), and you can use other 3rd party software also such as Real Player and Notmad Explorer (aside from WMP0).
There's nothing identical to the Karma's software, although I guess MediaSource is the closest.

  • Zen Sleek Photo won't boot

I have just bought a used Zen Sleek photo and have been excited about getting it, but I was setting up some playlists in Windows media Player 0, I left the machine to sync and when I came back my Zen was off and now won't start up again. Is there a way to reset it or please please can anyone help with this, as I have so much stuff I want to listen to but the is now useless. I look forward to some words of wisdom. Thanks, HypnomanMessage Edited by Catherina-CL on 09-06-2007 2:3 PM

    Hi Hypnoman,
The player does have a reset, you can press the button inside with a paperclip for instance. It should reboot (and reset) the player. Leave it charging for a while to make sure it has enough power to operate.
When happens when you try to start up the player?
On a seperate note, I have removed your signature, advertising is not allowed.

  • Zen sleek: total loc

    hello...
when i plugged in my zen sleek and opened the zen sleek
media explorer and pressed on: create playlist it frooze.
I can't turn it off.. i can't use the reset button.
It says that its still docked.
I have read the other posts about some of the same problems but they intended to work it out.
Now im sitting here with a no good mp3 player that can't even turn itself off.
Before the lockup, i installed the new firmware. i have never dropped my player into the ground either so its a software bug.
Now can someone please tell me what to do?
Ohh by the way: when i plug the player in to the computer windows says: usb device unreconised.
The only thing i have tought off is to let the battery run out and the recharge it again.

You will need to contact Creative Customer Support regarding the old firmware (unless the guy that once posted it himself still has it). The original non-MTP firmware on European Sleeks was one-of-a-kind; the only Sleek firmware Creative has ever released for download is the current MTP version (2.0.03), which requires the updated applications you installed.
Alternati'vely, Customer Support could help you with the current software and firmware. Unfortunately, there's not many reports of organizer sync problems. (The only items I've put into my Micro's organizer were ones I hand-keyed myself from the software; they transferred properly.)

  • Zen Sleek Cannot Enter Recovery Mo

I hope this has not been covered yet.
Got the Zen Sleek a few weeks ago and got my first issue. The player wouldn't turn off. after looking at all the help files on how to reset the Sleek by holding the reset button down I was able to reset it. The second time it booted and locked up the normal method of holding down the reset button wouldn't work, so I had to hold down the forward seek button and the reset button (i swear it worked).
A week prior I hesistantly updated the firmware. Here is the information as I can still get the player to boot:
    Creative Zen Sleek
    Version: 2.0.03
    Total Space: 9053MB
    Free Space: 8407MB
    Track Count: 32
    Album Count: 32
    Playlist Count: 0
So here is the list I guess:
    a. There is corrupt data taking up around 0 gigs of space.
    b. I cannot access any tracks whatssoever in the player.
    c. The computer doesn't recognize the player when I plug it in.
    d. The recovery mode did work prior to upgrading the firmware to 2.0.03
    e. When I plug it in it says "Docked" but windows says: The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen Sleek to the computer (inside the Zen Sleek Media Explorer (for PlaysForSure device) window)
I have tried the numerous tutorials on resetting the player to get into the recovery mode but it has not worked for me.

    Any help is appreciated!

I just upgraded to Windows Media Player 0, and although I don't use wmp to sync I did it to hopefully correct the MTP issue, however It won't detect the sleek in the sync menu even after powering the sleek off and on again. I do get a little icon in my system tray that says "MTP media player" when I hover over it with the mouse. Right clicking it simply displays the default actions dialog for windows: organize media files with creative media explorer, windows media player, or take no action. I tried this on another computer and I get the same result. I must have corrupted firmware.
I just emailed support referencing this thread and I am wondering if BestBuy will take it back I just bought it on the 4th of September.

  • Zen Sleek photo is great but has terrible softwa

Ok, Im posting this for one reason. The software to edit, transfer, compile playlists, or do anything for the Zen Sleek Photo is horrible. It is very long and tedious to do one simple change. Don't get me wrong I love my Sleek Photo. its great. But editing songs and making playlists in the creative mediasource is really horrible. I had a Zen Micro and it had Creative Mediasource as well, but It was different. It allowed me to veiw all the tracks at once, or all the albums, or all the artists and showed them to me AS THE WOULD APPER IN THE PLAYER. The Sleek Photo has the folders of the music and it is really hard to keep track of your newly transfered music and maybe not yet correctly labeled stuff if you don't know it doesnt have an artist or something. I was hoping someone could help me out? tell me that im stupid and say there is a preference you can choose, or hey here is some third party software, it works great.
    That would be wonderful
    thanks

    No one at all?

  • Zen Sleek Photo: Audible (.aa) Format Supp

I have been trying lately to load AudibleBooks (.aa) files onto my Zen Sleek Photo and it simply will not work. When trying to do it from inside AudibleManager it won't recognise the player and if I try dragging and dropping the .aa files onto the player using the Creative Media Manager it says "The format is not supported". I used to use a Zen Micro which worked with .aa files after a firmware upgrade but I can't find anything for the Sleek Photo. I think I found one for just the Sleek but not the Photo model. Is it not possible or am I missing something here?

Could someone answer this question. After hours reading through posts, I'm thoroughly confused as to whether WMP playlists actually show up identically in the Zen Sleek.
    Chris

Please could anyone post back with a way that either i could get them off creative, or perhaps someone would e mail them me.

The title says ti all. I am on Vista 64, but have tried the well known (or at least well published) solution of trying to reinstall the firmware using XP. I was playing music, then the playlist ended, I switched to a different playlist and the player wouldn't play. I restarted my zen, and it froze at the logo screen. I didn't worry, figured I would flash it when I got home. Plugged it in, let is charge a while just incase. Tried to update it by just downloading the firmware and double clicking. Said the player was not attached, so I detached and reattached it... and found it stuck in recovery mode. Scanned it (clean up), formatted it (tears...), and then finally said screw it and removed the firmware. This was all on the Vista machine.
Why did you erase the firmware? The only thing you may have needed to do was to cleanup>reboot the player. The firmware updater file was written to be used on Xp with WMP0 ONLY so you will have to go back to a XP computer to reload the firmware. If the device completed the scan disc & format successfully then your hardri've should be fine. Charge the battery or have it connected to a wall charger so you don't have a dead battery while doing the firmware reload.

  • Zen Sleek cuts off unexpecte

I have a Zen Sleek I bought in October with firmware version 2.0.03. I use it primarly in my car plaing it through a Belkin Tunecast 2 FM transmitter. I've gone on a couple of long (4 to 5 hour) trips lately and had set up a playlist of tunes to listen to while driving. Strangly the Sleek turns itself off about once every hour. If I press the power button it comes right back up but then goes down about an hour later unless I mess with it some (meaning press a button, skip a track). It happens both with the "Hold" feature on and off.
Any suggestions or anyone else having similar problems? All my music is encoded as vbr WMA's if that helps any.
    Thanks

This is just a guess but I'd check to see if the sleep timer is on. I changed mine and didn't realize what it would do. Took me 2 hrs to realize that's why it was cutting off.

  • Creative Zen Sleek and the Now Playing-part of the firmw

    Hi,
this week I got my Creative Zen Sleek. I'm very satisfied, except for one thing - the Now Playing-part of the firmware (the list with all the songs queued up). In the old Nomad Jukebox Zen firmware, the list was divided by artist or album name. On the Zen Sleek, however, the list is just going on without even showing which songs belonging to which album etc.
This is really annoying me - would it be possible to fix this, or at least consider the possibility for this to be integrated in the next firmware upgrade?
    Sincerely
    Hein Haraldson Berg

& Putting the X-Fi into Recovery Mode and selecting clean up seemed to fix the problem, but it does still come up randomly.
The clean up puts the player menus back to their defaults though... any chance that in a future fix for the player, this wouldn't occur?

  • Creative Zen sleek, folder based explori

Ok, long story short. i upgraded my Zen sleeks firmware, and for my disapoint, i founded out that whit the new firmware i cant use the "Creative media explorer", and im "forced" to use ether the crappy Mediaplayer 0, or the the "drag and drop" function.
The problem is, for example i got folder "AC/DC" where i have lot of ACDC music, some of them are named by only the songs name, some of them are like "AC/DC - Highway to hell", some of them "ACDC - ****" and some of them "AC-DC - ****", now when i transfer that folder to my player, i got artist "AC/DC", "ACDC" "AC-DC" etc etc. Now, is there anyway to get rid of that "Artist, album" etc based browsing, and start to browse my music by folders?
Or, is there anyway to get the new firmware to work whit the creative media explorer? Since whit media explorer it was possible to convert folder names to "Artist names".
    thanks. Carl

Cat, this firmware is also available on the Creative US site; though the US Sleek was MTP/Janus out of the box (and its specs require WinXP), the specs didn't show Audible support. So there's definitely also a version of this firmware available that's not subject to EU volume-limiting regulations.
With the similarities between the Sleek and the Micro (similar controls, possibly similar chipsets?), does this indicate that an Audible upgrade is pending for Micro firmware (.x and/or 2.x)? And if so, will the 2.x upgrade also include the battery fixes in ..02?

  • Creative Zen Sleek Photo Firmware Download does not recognize my pla

My Creative Zen Sleek Photo recently froze up. After restarting it, the "firmware problem" screen popped up. After reading up on it a bit, I decided to first clean, then reformat, and then reload the firmware. Everything went smoothly until I went to load the firmware back onto my Zen.
For whatever reason a screen pops up that says that my device is not connected to the computer, when it, in fact, is. I have tried several things including uninstalling Windows Media Player and repeatedly cleaning and reformatting in hopes that it would recognize it.
I have had no prior problems with the computer recognizing the device and I have loaded quite a bit of music onto it through this computer. Can anyone please help? Any more ideas? Anything will be helpful and appreciated. Thanks?

HelloHave a look at this thread http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ead.php?t=6328?I had a similar problem with a Zen Sleek Photo and I am sure that this was the thread I used to recover the player when a firmware upgrade failed. Regards?
