Zen Sleek Power Adap

Does anyone know if it is it possible to buy an adaptor to use a Zen sleek bought in the US to use in the UK? If so where? I know i can buy a docking ststion but hope to buy a power supply or connector.

mamaclean,
The Zen Sleek player comes bundled with a power adaptor already. It's a uni'versal adaptor so you shouldn't have problem using in UK but you may have to buy converter to change the plug head.

• ZEN Micro Power Adap

I just bought a ZEN MicroPhoto (8gb)--its great so far. I want to buy an AC charging cord/adaptor so I dont have to use my USB conect. on my computer. Can anyone tell me if I can use a standard 5 Volt Charger available at a lot of elect stores like best buy, without having to buy the ? I'm guessing as long as its a 5 volt charger, I can??

RBBrittain wrote:
You can charge the Micro thru the USB cable. You can also use chargers that connect thru 5-pin USB mini-B ports, like Blackberry and Motorola RAZR or MPx200 chargers; but to use them you'll have to either lock the player before charging (..0 firmware only) or set up a removable-disk partition (all other firmwares).
You *may* have to. I didn't need to
The Creative charger (available from this site and certain other retailers) reportedly charges faster than other chargers, and doesn't require "lock charging mode" or removable-disk setup.
It might do if it deli'vers more current, so it'll probably depend on the adapter. The RAZR v3 adapter only outputs 0.5A, whereas my Typhoon phone adapter produces A (the same as the Micro's adapter).

• Zen Sleek Photo Re-loading Library at Powe

My Zen Sleek Photo Player has started acting weird on me. When I power it up it goes through a re-building library phase before the powerup is complete. When it is powered up, it plays my music; but doesn't indicate what music it is playing on the screen. I cannot get my pc to recognize that my player is connected to it, so I cannot download music or podcasts. Some of my music has disappeared and all of my saved podcasts are gone. I have gone through the reboot routine, but to no use. Have I played my beloved player to death? Anyone have similar problems or suggestions. I trolled through the message board but didn't find a similar problem. Thanks.

You can try formatting but take note that you will lose the contents in the player. You might also want to try connecting to another computer or try using another usb cable to see if it gets detected.
If that still does not work or is not possible, you probably need to contact support to get it sorted out.

• Does the Zen Sleek docking station NEED a power adapt

I already have a docking station for my Zen Sleek which is connected to my PC.
I would like to get another one for my hi-fi downstairs so that I can take advantage of the line out socket. Does the dock need power to provide the line-out socket so am I going to have to sort out a second power supply as well?
If I do need a second power supply, would it be ok to just buy a uni'versal power supply (providing the current is sufficient) and plug that in, which would be cheaper than a Creative OE one?
Thanks in advance. The Sleek rocks!Message Edited by manoman48 on 06-27-2006 03:55 AM

The battery pack for the V200 is a different size/shape to the one for the TX, NX, TX FM etc. More important I suppose is whether the actual MP3 module is the same size or not; whether the V200 module will fit in the TX battery compartment or not.
Creative's official answer will probably be that they are different. On first looks they appear different but someone with both players might be able to give you a better answer.

• Another New User, Please Advise, Can I Permanently Use Zen Stone From Power Adap

Can I permanently run my new Zen Stone directly from the Zen USB Power Adapter. Like I have my Zen Stone connected to small speakers and would like it to run off the Zen Power Adapter (wall charger) not the battery, permanently. In other words I would like to keep it plugged into the Power Adapter all the time and run it that way so I don't have to run it off the battery and keep charging it. Is this OK to do Please advise this senior citizen trying to keep up with all this great stuff.

• Zen Sleek Photo Car Adap

Can someone please direct me to a link where I can find a car adapter for a ZEN Sleek Photo I remember seeing it on the site a while back, but I can't remember where it was and I looked all over the Accessories parts of the site, no luck. It would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You can give firmware update a try but I'm afraid what coachop said is true. I don't have personal experience with screen replacements but sounds like this is the path where you're heading.

• Best way to hook up Zen Sleek to Car Ster

Dear fellow Zen owners,
I have a Zen sleek and love it. I want to integrate this into my car as much as possible. I have a Alpine CDA9827 Reciever with an aux in. I just ordered a PIE LD- Amp that amplifies the aux input to make the zen sound better.
What I am mostly looking for is a vent mount that will fit this player. Another thing I am looking for is a DC power adapter for the sleek in my car so the backlight will always be on showing what is playing.
I found this dc adapter on the creative site.
http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=3&subcategory=&product=2204
I dont understand how that will plug into the sleek unless the picture is wrong.
Please give me feedback on a good mount for this and a dc adapter.
Thanks,
Mike

well, that adapter plugs into the headphone jack, I assume. They need to start releasing some FM transmitters that hook up to the Sleek's dock connector, which would charge it and have music playback. Like the iPods have.
Or, can that connector at the bottom even be used for audio output, or is it just for USB transfer/charging? Can anyone confirm this?
Edit: *most* iPod mounts should fit the sleek, may it be a bit looser or tighter. Both players' dimensions are near the same. I haven't seen or heard of any specifically made for the Sleek. Creative needs to get on the ball as far as accessories go..Message Edited by shotgunxmessage on 09-5-2005 06:6 AM

Try holding down the play button while using the recessed reset switch then select reboot
from the menu. The instuctions for the rescue mode are at the top section of the forum.

Detach the Zen player from your computer, and ensure that the Zen Sleek is turned off.
Connect the power supply to the player.
Hold down the Play/Pause button while inserting a paper clip into the Reset hole underneath your player, beside the data/power connector. Keep on holding the Play/Pause button while you release the Reset button. The Rescue Mode screen will then appear.
After the recovery mode has started, release the Play/Pause button

The player will display the following options:
Clean Up (Performs a disk scan on the players hard disk, it will not affect music files)
Format All (Formats the players hard disk - Note: all contents will be lost)
Reload Firmware (Reloads the Operating System on the Zen)
Reboot (Reboots the device).

• Real Player/XP crashed, now Zen Sleek 20GB not recogni

Okay, I had my Zen Sleek 20 GB connected one day, put the computer in standby mode, then disconnected the device. When I turned the computer back on, I got a blue screen (first time for this year-old Dell!) saying it had recovered from a major error. After that, anytime I tried to transfer an MP3 or anything else over to my player in Real, a message would pop up saying that the device did not support my file type, which was impossible. I thought the crash might have something to do with it, so I went ahead and uninstalled EVERYTHING on my computer, then reinstalled everything. Didn't work. Formatted my Zen, and erased the firmware. But when I tried to install the new firmware, the installation wizard didn't "see" the device, as if it wasn't connected. So now I'm clueless as to what to do next, and my player is completely on the fritz. Any ideas?

Howdy, I have a Zen MicroPhoto 8 GB player that is stuck, and as much as I know about MP3 players, even I can't fix this thing. Somebody's gotta help me now. I know how to access the Recovery mode, but that doesn't help me much if it freezes up when I access anything there. My computer doesn't even recognize the player either. I am running XP Pro with WMP-2. I usually like Creatives because it's easy for my PC to see it as a new dri've and then just copy/paste songs to it. I don't really like the time consumption of using a pc player to manage my music. Well, I really need help making my PC see the player. I think if I could see the player I could format and reinstall software....maybe. I don't have an a/c charger but have always charged it with the pc usb cable. I have two good batteries that will run the player too. I can always fix the GB or less Creative players (flash memory), even if my pc won't recognize them. I am apparently dumb about the hard dri've players cause I can't get anything to work to save my life. Once, and only once, I got my device manager to see it...but it wouldn't let me install or manage software transfer to the player. It just said "your player is not connected"....and I can't remember what I did to get it to see it in the device manager either. One more thing, I have a bluetooth a/c charger that has an output of 550 mA's. I have thought about connecting that and boosting the power...temporarily....to see if that does it.....but I'm a little scared to do that. I'm liable to fry my player...! Anybody know a way I can start to fix my 8GB player (signed: "Very Frustrated"

• Zen Sleek Touchpad problem - scrolling down acts like a scroll

Yes, a strange problem I ran into today. Everytime I try to scroll down using the touchpad on my Zen Sleek, the cursor moves up instead. It's like the whole touchpad can only move the cursor in one-direction, up. Even if I try to use the rapid-scroll, the cursor just moves up rapidly
This happened yesterday, when on one bar of battery, my Sleek, around the afternoon froze while starting up and I could not restart it because I did not have a paperclip on me. After I get home hours later, I charge my Sleek since the battery died. And, now, today... I am at this rather strange problem.
And, my Sleek hasn't given me problems since I bought it a year ago besides the occasional lockups on one-bar of battery.

. Detach the Zen player from your PC , and ensure that the Zen Sleek is turned off.
2. Connect the power supply to the player.
3. Hold down the Play/Pause button while inserting a paper clip into the Reset hole
underneath your player, beside the data/power connector. Keep on holding the
Play/Pause button while you release the Reset button. The Rescue Mode screen will
then appear.
4. After the recovery mode has started, release the Play/Pause button
It will display the following options.
Clean Up
Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Does not affect music files themselves.
Format (All)
Caution! Erases all content!
Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.
Reload OS/ Firmware
Caution! Erases your player's firmware.
DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.
Reboot Reboots the device.

• Zen Sleek Photo won't turn

My Zen Sleek Photo won't turn on period. I'm kind of scared because I just bought it and finished getting all my music on it. I tried putting the charger in because that usually turns it on but that didn't work. I tried holding down the on button. I tried to access it from the computer with the USB cord and that didn't work. So if anyone has any help please tell me.

Try resetting it, with a paperclip (put it into the reset hole and you should feel a very small "button" to press with it).
Leave it charging for a while aswell, in case it has run completely out of power. If it still doesn't work after trying those two things, then I would definitely recommend contact Customer Support directly, as there could be a problem with the unit.

• Zen Sleek Photo won't boot

I have just bought a used Zen Sleek photo and have been excited about getting it, but I was setting up some playlists in Windows media Player 0, I left the machine to sync and when I came back my Zen was off and now won't start up again. Is there a way to reset it or please please can anyone help with this, as I have so much stuff I want to listen to but the is now useless. I look forward to some words of wisdom. Thanks, HypnomanMessage Edited by Catherina-CL on 09-06-2007 2:3 PM

Hi Hypnoman,
The player does have a reset, you can press the button inside with a paperclip for instance. It should reboot (and reset) the player. Leave it charging for a while to make sure it has enough power to operate.
When happens when you try to start up the player?
On a seperate note, I have removed your signature, advertising is not allowed.

• ZEN Sleek 30 gig died.

My Zen Sleek 30 gig that I've had for over a year now just died tonight. No power, no recovery mode.... nothing. Anyone had this problem or know how to take care of it's I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

• Zen Sleek Freezing Is

When I first had my Zen Sleek it seemed to work like a charm, very happy with it's performance; untill one day I was putting music on it, and when all the transfering was done I un-plugged it and it frooze. I tried the recovery mode and that did not work, it simply was stuck on the screen of "Updating Library", I know the right way of entering the Recovery Mode, press and hold Play/Pause and stick a paper clip into the hole on the bottem side for around 5 seconds or more. But that did not work, so I called and the Phone service was not able to help me, so we came up with the idea of just simply letting the battery die and using it once it had died. I did that, but time after time again after that it still gave me freezing issues, even when transfering music onto my Sleek, the player would freeze and be as good as a rock untill I would unplug and let it die again. Finally fed up, I emailed for help and was given the idea of updating every thing, firmware, player, etc., I did all of these, none of which solved my problem. So I had it, I sent it in for a new one; Got my new player two days ago, reloaded all my music, seemed to work for a few days, let the battery completly drain. Today I plugged it in for a recharge, and while that was going I decided to put a few more albums on that I had got the day before, and as it was transfering the songs onto my player, same thing happend, my Sleek frooze completly, I can't enter Recovery mode at all. I'm stumped, I know my computer is plenty powerful enough to handle this task. But for some reason my computer seems to always put my Sleeks into a froozen mode, that can not be brought out of. My only guess is that Sleeks do not act well when low on battery power and you wish to do file transfering tasks.
Help please, I'm ready to cry

Hello there, my goodness I can completely relate to you but unfortunately I have no idea about what to do about it. My Sleek has totally frozen too but on the "Zen Sleek" screen and nothing, let me type that again nothing anyone has suggested has worked. The reset button does not work, i cannot get into recovery or maintenance mode, i can't turn it off i just have to wait until the battery runs down and then recharge it, turn it on again and exactly the same thing happens it remains frozen on the stupid screen. I am so upset, i've had problems with freezing before (although then it was usually when a song was playing and you just had to wait until the battery run down and then recharge and then it was fine after "rebuilding library" and am so tempted to go and replace this with an IPOD...yeah, do the unthinkable, an IPOD....
