Cool, I`ve made a clean up to make the problem of pressing back button, ok, it worked for some days...now, another problem... I`ve been using my Zen Xtra normally, I was until happy because my mp3 was working fine again and I wouldn`t have to write in the forum again to ask for some help but...from the nothin the mp3 turned off and then when I turn it on again my mp3 works for about 2 seconds and then is turned of again, or when i press the button to turn it on, the mp3 ignites the light and then that`s it. it freezes with the light on but nothin on the screen.... I`m gonna go to the store that I`ve bought it to try to get another zen xtra, even after doing everything possible, I think it can be problem with the battery, but the strange is that I bought the mp3 last september... It`s still new :S...

my micro shuts down automatically every 5~20 mins while i am still listening to my radio or mp3! help!!!
    how come?!

did you know that there is a Sleeper mode (I forgot the exact name, can't check now) in the Settings menu of Zen Micro? If that one is acti've, it will behave just like you indicate : turn of after [user-definable] minutes.

  • Zen Micro shutting down on its

No biggie but my Zen Micro plays 3 or 4 songs then shuts down on its own. The battery is always fully charged and the interface is locked by sliding the top button over until the "lock" icon appears on the screen. Am I doing somethig wrong or is my player defecti've. Im using it while working out but there isnt alot of bouncing around going on. At least not enough to make the hard dri've shut down or anything. Thanks in advance
    Sam

Thank you for the quick reply. Well both of those things were enabled. The sleep timer was set to 5minutes which is just about right. Ive disabled those and its been playing for about 20 minutes now with no shutdown. Now the player is just sitting there not moving. I will have to do a workout test with it to see if the problem is definitely cured. Thanks for the help as it looks good so far.

  • Zen Xtra shuts down after a few hours, loses pl

Before I updated my Nomad Zen Xtra to the 2.0.03 code, I could go up to 24 hours without it going into shutdown mode (ie. I could turn it on, and it was still on, at the same place I left off at). Now, it seems like I walk away from it for a few hours, and when I come back, it starts up like it was just first powered on, and I always lose my place. I use this thing primarily for audio books, and it sucks to lose your place when you're 3 hours into a file. The only way it doesn't lose the spot is if it's plugged into the AC adapter.
Is there any way to fix this, or change this? That is, aside from having to bookmark my spot every time I stop using the thing? That's annoying.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks,
    Frank

    please help!
i've tried the method in the other topic with the guy/gal who was having the same problems as me and it didn't work.

  • Zen Mosaic Shuts down

The problem is I turn the Mosaic on and it goes to the book .wma I'm listening to and 2 minutes or less the player shuts off. The on/off switch doesn't work, you can see a light inside the player and I have to press the reset button to make it turn on again. I have it set for 5 minute shut off, but I don't even get 2 minutes usually the first time I turn it on every day.
I've tried using the )turn player off; 2)press/hold play AND slide switch on.....this doesn't work AT ALL.

Check in your "Player Settings"...you might have set the Sleep timer "ON"...Just turn it off.
If not...recommend update your software and firmware.
    Good luck

  • Zen Stone not detected by winxp+

    Hi,
I've just bought a Zen Stone and plugged it into my computer in the usb ports at the back. Windows detects the device, and the autoplay menu pops up, but then the autoplay menu disappears and the Zen Stone shuts down (the light stops blinking).
I've looked around for similar problems and have only found incompatibilities with iomega zip dri'ves, however they have never been used on this machine. Has anyone any ideas on how to correct this problem?
    Many thanks,
    Mark

    Mark,
Are you at least able to power on the player now and listen to the music? Try leaving the player connected to the computer for a few hours to charge just in case the battery is depleted.

  • Zen Xtra powers off/shuts down by itse

I have a 40G Zen Xtra. I've searched for at least an hour and can't find a solution to my problem. It powers off by itself after I've been listening to it for awhile. I've never timed it so I can't say how long it's on before it shuts down. Nothing in the manual addresses this either. Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks!

it's a sleeper timer on your player if it is on it will turn off in 30 60 90 50 and 80 Min. to turn it off just go to setting - edit profile scroll down till you see sleeper timer and set it to off. it also has a alarm on it to wake you if you want it to go to setting and scroll down to time and date the bell is the alarm just set it to the time you want it to come on

  • Zen 300 does not resume playback at same place after shutting down.

My Zen 300 does not resume playback at the same place in the audio file after the player automatically shuts down (idle shutdown) when I turn the player back on. It returns to the beginning of the track. How can I ensure playback resumes after automatic shutdown?

GThis is normal for Idle shut down my zen 300 does this to me to. I don't think there is a way to stop it though but if there is then the creative lab support people should be able to help just send them an email.
By the way does anyone know how to create tasks for the zen 300? I tried with no luck.

  • Zen Vision M. Keeps shutting down! Hel

I've had my Zen for a little over a year now and have had no complaints to date. Recently though it has started to shut itself down mid song for no apparent reason. I thought it might be some corrupted data so I reformatted it and put a couple of albums on it to test it out but it still shuts down after 3 - 4 songs. Is it the battery? have I picked up some sort of bug?anyone have this problem before?

I've been having the same issues with my niece's vision m. It's a year old, and only recently it started shutting down, the actual message Shutting down appears on the screen and turns off, you turn it back on it starts up and begins playing the song where it was last at like normal, then 2 - 3 second into it it does the exact same thing. Anyone know what is going on ?

  • Zen Micro locks up on the Shutting Down screen -intermittent prob

Since buying the Zen Micro in December, it has failed to shut down after I push the shut down button. It shows the SHUTTING DOWN screen, but that stays on forever (until battery dies or I pull the battery). The problem is intermittent. Sometimes the unit shuts down correctly. After nothing would fix it, Creative sent a replacemnt. Well the replacement does the same thing. I just upgraded to the new Firmware that came out this week, but that didn't solve the problem. It must be something that I am doing wrong. There is no pattern to when it will shut down and when it won't (plugged in versus not, different batteries, different screens, etc). Has anyone else had this problem?

I have contacted Creative Customer Support and as usual all you get back is an automated email telling you to reboot this and reload that. I then contacted Creative in Sydney and they have told me to bring it in and they will swap it for another unit. If the next one does it I will demand a refund. I will have to check out a few Ipod forums to see if these peole are having the troubles Creative customers seem to have. I was going to ask for an upgrade to the Zen Microphoto but I can see by this forum that they are full of bugs as well. Technology is a wonderful thing.

Search on "My Zen is not starting properly, or goes into rescue mode, what should I do?" in the FAQ post and try the advice there.

If this worries you then you might want to return your player anyway. If you bought it from a high street shop (as opposed to Internet) then it might be quicker to return it there.

  • Zen Jukebox 30G "Shutting Down" then ha

I bought this unit about a month ago, and I am not very pleased with it so far. The biggest problem I encounter too often is when I power up the unit, it shuts down after playing for about 5 seconds. However, it hangs on the "Shutting Down" message, and it never goes away. I have to remove the battery or press the reset button in order for it to go away.
The battery is nearly fully charged.
I can get it to go away by letting the battery discharge, then charging it up again. But this is a hassle, I don't want to have to do this. After the battery discharges again, and I recharge the unit, I am back into this cycle again.
I upgraded the firmware to the latest version on the creative site.
Please let me know what I can do to solve the issue. I am ready to take the unit back to best buy and get an ipod instead.

If you upraded the firmware then all you can really do is run a disk cleanup. To access the Rescue Mode hold down the play button and KEEP it held down, press the tiny reset switch once, and KEEP the play button held down until the player boots into the Rescue Mode. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.
If it still misbehaves then the player is faulty.
My only iPod owning friend has had to return his twice with battery problems. And I monitor an iPod forum which also is full of people with problems.

  • [Zen Micro] Keeps shutting down after unplugging from comput

I have owned this player for a year and three and a half months now. I had sent it in for repair before the warranty expired because I kept getting annoying feedback into my earphones. Unfortunately, they didn't fixed it and just sent it right back costing $25+S/H. I went on installing the firmware and loading my music up just fine, but when I unplug it from the computer, it shuts down. I tried several things such as reformatting the thing, but it didn't work and I hadn't checked out the sticky firmware thread so I just left the player alone very frustrated until now.
I managed to reload the firmware again thanks to that thread but I still have the automatic shut-down problem when disconnecting from the computer. I did noticed that after I unplugged it, the power bar wasn't there before it shut down.
Your ideas are appreciated but please make sure it's not about sending it back to them. It's out of warranty.
Note: It does work again after I replace the battery, but I don't want to do this every time I want to load music onto it.

Is there a sleep timer on the Micro? Did you check for that? (as opposed to Idle Shutdown)

  • Zen Player froze in "shut down" mode......

I've read around and can't seem to find a solution to this problem....
The player is froze....won't shut down, shut off, just froze......can anyone help with this?
    Thanks

If you are referring to this player, try resetting it. There is a small hole at the bottom of the player. Use a pin/paper clip to press it. See if that hel
