Zen Touch 20gig remote headpho

I recently purchased a Zen Touch 20gig which i am pleased with but i noticed that the headphones that came with it were standard headphones. However that the headphone slot design indicates to me that you can plug remote headhones into it. I have not seen a pair of headphones avaiable for the zen touch that include a remote control on them but if any one knows something i don't or thinks they can help me out i would appreciate it!
Thanx Jon

Also if your going to use the remote for the zen, its a good idea to purchase earphones with short (remote friendly) cords. Not sure about other companies, but sony sell several of their earphones/headphones with short cords or short cords + extension. Look for the SP and SL at the end of the model names.

  • Zen Touch FM Remote screen prob

    hi all
i bought a Zen Touch FM Remote in aug last year and a mounth a go the screen keeps going off can anyone help me

The screen back-light does go off a set few seconds after a button/control usage. This is normal.
If that is not what you are writing about...try ONLY turning your Zen Touch player on or off by the PLAYER'S on/off button. This will initialize the player first, and then the circuits in the remote. This might fix any problems you are having.
    It did for myself.

  • Zen Touch 20Gig USB Charg

    HI.
I have a Zen Touc 20gig, iM trying to charge it through my USB, but how can i do this? When i plug into the usb, it says docked on the screen and doesnt charge, any ideas please.
    Thanks.
    Owyn xx
    PS: Happy New Year.

It is easy to do... I charge mine through USB.
There is a program that is trying to acess the Zen when you plug it in, which is why it gets docked. Close all programs taht may try to dock your Zen (eg. Creative Media SOurce, WIndows Media PLayer, My Computer). Then, when the player stopps becoming docked, turn it off like you normally would. It should then start charging.
If it doesn't stop being docked, there is registry edit to make so that it will... I don't know it off the top of my head, but Im sure someone will be able to post it here

Connect the player to the adapter, and press the tiny reset button on the side using something like a bent paperclip. Don't use anything sharp. Does the player revi've?

  • Zen Touch Blank Blue scr

Okay, I just recieved my new Creative Zen touch 20gig mp3 player. I took it out of the box and stuff and decided to try it out w/o charging. I turn it on and it works good but all of a sudden it freezes. I see you can reset it so I reset it with a pin and i turn it back on but all I get is a blank screen with blacklight on for the standard 5 seconds. I could hear music being played and hear the scrolling action but just saw nothing but blue. Anyone know if I can fix this or did I happen to get a dud :x, Thx Feel free to PM me or email me If you have a solution or similar problem

If reset didn't solve it it sounds like the player is faulty unfortunately. You need to contact where you bought it from for a replacement, or contact Creative Support.

  • Is it possible Creative pulled the Zen Touch Wired FM Remotes for a redesig

I was thinking of purchasing one of these wired remotes for my Zen Touch...but can't find them anywhere...anywhere here on creatives site and anywhere else online...all say out of stock...would make sense and all since it is Xmas coming up...but after reading all the reviews on this unit and how expensi've it is and how it breaks after a certain amount of months...perhaps creative is pulling them for redesign or something?
would love to buy one...but...can't find one...yet everyone says this thing is crap!
    hrm.............wish there were more options.

They've been hard to find since they were launched. Creative aren't good at keeping items in stock.

  • Zen Touch optional wired remote control to play FM radio how do I get it? or can it work without

One of the reasons why i am thinking of buying a zen touch is becuase it has a FM radio built in. From the website it says you need an optional wired remote control to listen to the radio, where can i get one in the uk? or can it work without it's

The Zen Touch doesn't have a radio built-in. You'd need this:

The Zen Micro does have an FM tuner built-in.

  • Looking for a Zen Touch Remote...with the following

So...first off...where in the world are all the accessories for the Zen Touches? Man..what a dissapointment...spent alot of money on this thing mainly becuase I use alot of creative products and did not want to give in to the IPod craze...not to mention I'm a service tech. at my work and we get like 0 ipods a day in for service...such garabage...anyways:
I'm looking for a wired remote for my 40 gig Zen Touch. I DO NOT NEED...FM Tune...a friggen MIC..i mean common people...a mic!!
!! I do not need the time...
all I require is a forward...backwards...fast forward..reverse...power on/off...backlight display with maybe the time duration on a track...and thats about it. is that so hard? does it exsist?...i'm leaning towards a probably not.
can't help but feel abandond on my unit given there is a lack on accessories for this unit...and it just seems like creative is pumping out those really small...no space mp3 players with a full heap of accessories to choose from.
well at least your Elite Pro is nice.

orangeblast wrote:So...first off...where in the world are all the accessories for the Zen Touches?
What accessories do you want? Most of the iPod accessories are junk, or just infinite versions of the same thing.

There is only the one remote, so that's the only choice I'm afraid. But if you don't need the features, don't use them.

  • Zen Touch Remote Out Of sto

I got my Zen touch at christmas and have been tryin to get the remote for it but it has been out of stock everytime I have checked the creative shop. And It seems its exclusi've to it. Is there anywhere else I could get one from and does anyone know if there will be anymore avalible for the UK. Thanks in advance for the replies.

eBay is another source, but of course a bit risky. The remotes come and go very quickly, so you might want to try Customer Service to see if they know when they're coming back in stock.

  • Several questions - new to Creative Zen Touch - please help (ripping/accessori

Hi, I just ordered my new Zen Touch 20gb online last night with a set of Sony earbuds (MDR-EX5LP). I'm pretty excited, get it this Friday.
I just had a few questions in advance:
    A) Which programs are best for ripping, allow you to adjust the quality of the songs, and won't cause problems when burnt cds are ripped (saw a thread earlier that complained of bad quality when burnt cds were ripped to MP3 that worried me)?
    B) What different types of cables/accessories would you recommend for wiring the Creative up to a stereo? On CNet.com and various other sites, they talk about how the Creative sounds great through speakers, and I'm really excited to hook that up, but I don't know A) Which cable to buy that will work well with the Creative/have good sound quality, B) Where to plug it in - headphone jack? (no analog Line Out, right?)
    C) Has anyone had any experience with the remote? Is it pretty durable? I'm not going to plop down 50 plus shipping and handling, wait 2-3 weeks for the backorder, only to have it fall to bits in a few weeks.
Thanks SO much! I appreciate any and all help. I'm new to Creative/Mp3 players as a whole, so forgive any ignorance/mistakes.

I have used WMP0 exclusi'vely for ripping CDs. I rip WMAs at 28kbps, though you may want to go up to 92kbps if you can hear the difference (some people recommed ripping a song at both and deciding which is best). I sync all my CDs with WMP0 too, and have had no issues. One thing to caution you is to make sure your ID3 tags are correct before you sync up. What I mean by this is to make sure the album name, track titles, and artist names are to your liking. 90% it is not an issue, but sometimes, the titles have extra characters you may not wish to have. If you have more than one artist listed on a track, only the first one is loaded. So if you have, say: "EmmyLou Harris; Buddy Miller", the track is stored under artist Emmylou Harris only.</LI>
Belkin sells this Dell DJ base that the ZT will fit into (there is another thread on that here). That seems like a nice option. You do go out of your headphone jack. Any chord that has the headphone jack on one end, and stereo RCA (red, white) jacks on the other end will do.</LI>
See other threads about the FM remote. I read some concerns about their durability, but read for yourself and decide.</LI>

  • Creative Zen Touch Vs. Mi

I am looking for a new mp3 player to buy, and would like to get a creative one but I am having a few problems, hoping some of you could help me.
On the tocuh version (20gig) is there ANY way that you could make it so you can use it as an external dri've (so you don't have to install the software)? Then, once the battery dies (not discharges but I mean dies) what do you do? On the Ipod you could hack it and put another one in for a much cheaper price than apple offers, but what do you do with the zen touch?
And for the Zen Micro is there a way where you can use it with plain windows explorer (drag and drop).
For someone that has tried both, which would you recommend?
Thank you all for your comments.

Note the headphone jack fiasco has not been confirmed (read below). There is only speculation and hope that someone at Creative has worked out how to turn on the soldering iron.
As for the battery fiasco, Creative have 'officially' said that they intend to release updated firmware this month that should reduce 'sleep/standby mode' from 24 hours to 4. Fingers crossed!
    DreL wrote:
how do u tell if u have the fixed batch of zen micros?
[b]Based on information within this forum, the last known hardware revisions has been November 2004. And this revisions was not to the headphone jack, but to the faceplate.</B>
To date, no one can officially confirm if the headphone jack on newer players has been revised. There have been Creative (Phone) Technical Support implying changes have been made to the jack, however this has been verified by a forum moderator to be false. There are however, "ongoing hardware revisions" which you can interpret how you like, but don't appear to impact the headphone jack design/manufacture.
Right now, if you believe the estimated numbers, only a minority of owners are affected. Alternati'vely, those who have opened the Zen Micro will concur the headphone jack is extremely vulnerable due to it's weak connection to the circuit board (which consist of 3 "glued" points). It is only time before this is a growing problem due to the poor design described.
Do you buy a Zen Micro and take the risk or wait until the issue is resolved? The answer really depends on how good you are with a solder gun...

  • Zen Touch is dead, Zen Vision:

I threw my bag on the ground in an angry rage (not Zen related, not very Zen at all in fact). Unfortunately my Zen Touch was in it at the time, and now is sadly dead and headed for the recycling plant ('hard disk problem' screen, click of death, won't reboot etc.) I thought the Zen Touch was a great player a bit let down by firmware / accessory support. I see that Creative are improving these things for the Zen Vision:M so I thought I might upgrade to that. Therefore I have a few questions about this player:
) Does it have a removable battery or not?
    2) What are some good cases for this player? (the Creative one looks nice)
    3) Is the Audible firmware update going to come back, and what were the problems with it's Is type 2 Audible track good enough quality?
    4) Is there anywhere to download legal music/ movie videos in the UK, and is the video feature really as good as it is cracked up to be?
    5) Does the black Zen Vision: M scratch too easily?
    6) Can you switch from music to radio with the separate wired remote?
    7) Should I wait for Creative to make a player with a DAB digital radio (I like radio) or will this never happen?
R I P my poor Zen Touch, I am sorry I destroyed you. Message Edited by joshua32 on 06-07-2006 04:52 PM

. NO removable battery, sorry. But it has a amazing battery life.
    2. The one comes with the device is ideal for carrying, but you can't, of course, use the device inside it. I remember I saw some cases for it.
    3. I don't know, I'm currently using that firmware (you are talking about .40 firmware with Audible support, which was removed after a few days, right), and have some problems with the sound. As soon as I upgraded, I started hearing some sort of clicky noise in the background, my files are mp3.
    4. Don't know about download, but video quality is superior, just as the screen. (supports WMV v3, DivX, MPEG, screen res: 320x240, 800kbps max. for video)
    5. Yeah A bad side of the device. The screen gets very easily scratched, more than the device itself (I have a black one), but fortunately, they don't create a problem as the screen is really bright (you can set it also, the brightness, there are 0 levels)
    6. I dunno, don't have the remote.
    7. I don't know anything about DAB, sorry. But I don't expect (personally) anything with better radio capabilities soon.
r.i.p. btw the case is also a really good protector from crashes for ZVM.
    Bottom line:
I've bought mine in March , and using it frequently, every day.
Definitaly recommend it. Feel free to ask more about ZVM if you have any questions.

  • Which is best, Zen Touch 20gb or Zen 2

I am looking to buy one or the other but cannot decide which.
    What do you recommend?

The Zen 20 GB is better - in terms of size, weight and features.
    The Zen 20 GB has:
-FM tuner and recorder within the player itself. Zen touch, on the other hand, has a FM tuner on its remote control (sold separately in certain regions).
-Removable disc function (which means you can plug it into ANY computer and start transferring data files for storage etc.). Zen touch, also has that function, except that in order for it to be able to start transferring data between device and PC, the PCs which you want to transfer data must have some drivers installed first before that can take place.
Well, in some ways, the zen touch is better, like in terms of the material it is made of - you can feel it's toughness and "solidness" when you touch it. It's pure metal! Zen 20GB, on the other hand is just magnesium alloy, which is not very tough (i happened dropped my badge on it, and i found a very very small, barely visible dent at the top end of the corner. Though it's very small, but it roughly shows how tough it is). Definitely, the toughness came with a price: bulkier and heavier than the Zen 20GB.
Overall, i am still very happy with my Zen 20GB. Sound quality is fabulous. Huge capacity. Excellent and useful features. Size factor is okay. Reasonable pricing. What more can I ask for?

  • Zen touch problem

    Hello everyone.
I have a 20gig zen touch which was working fine . I have the latest drivers / firmware installed .
But when i connect it to the computer windows says found new hardware creative zen , then opens the install new hardware part , even although i have already installed the drivers for it . windows device will not work properly could not find any drivers . therefore i cannot access the player at all or install media source etc as the drivers are not working Please would someone be able to help me with this ..
    thanks Lonso

First of all, dropping the player into the water doesn't fall under waranty, but maybe you can contact Customer Support and ask how much it costs to get it fixed?
I think that you won't get the player to work again, or not completely. The water could have damaged it and turning it on so fast isn't a good idea, i think. And that crisping sound doens't sound that ok?
So the best thing you can do is try to contact support somehow and ask them what they can do about it
You should be able to contact support, no matter in which country you are...
(PS: when you drop it again, let it dry for some weeks instead of hours!!! they've told me once in a computer store that they were able to get thinks that were wet working againg, but after a looooong time of drying.)Message Edited by Doockles on 02-06-2006 06:52 PM

    Thanks in advance!!

GunsNRoses, I have looked at the I-ri'ver H340 and its VARRY nice. I would go for it right away.
But the thing that bugs me is they took out most of the functions from the American version (some of the missing functions are: USB host to take pictures from digital cameras, UMM, there?s more but I cant think :P ) also they take most of the accessories out. They did this to make the player cost less and to be a better competitor with the I-pod.
On the other hand (for a bit more $$$) they do have an international version (AKA World version) that has all the functions and just about all the accessories. So if I get one I will get the international one.
But today I emailed their tech support to see what would happen if I sent the international one into the American repair center. They replied that if I sent the international one and it needed to be replaced they would only be able to replace it with an American one. So I am looking into being able to get the warrantee out of US.
The H340 is a .8? hard dri've so its a bit more shock proof which is nice.
The sound quality is vary good but I did not get to compare it to the touch.
They did not have any pictures loaded on it so I did not get to see that side of the player.
I also like that I-ri'ver based the hard dri've format on the FAT format, making the hard dri've plug and play compatible, although this makes the player have a bit longer start up time (the longest time I have head is 40 seconds.)
The interface is a bit hard to use if you don?t know how to, but once you get used to it it'ss EZ.
To be able to record from anything is vary nice.
Having the color screen is cool to.
I have heard rumors about the player having the ability to save song lyrics and allow the user to access them when listening to music, I would find this really good, I don?t know if it will do this.
I have spent a little time on the I-ri'ver forms to see what people say about it. From what I have seen on the I-ri'ver forms most of what people that have a H340 are asking for new firmware and not so much talking about hardware problems.
The I ri'ver is more expensi've than the touch but it has more functions and comes with more accessories.
Here?s a link to a site that sells the H340 if you wont to look into it more. They have some good info on it. : http://www.teamdigital.net/store/customer/product.php?productid=402&cat=203&page=
Another thing about the international player is that it comes with a different wall outlet cable than we use in the US. But I do believe that the USB cradle charges the battery. And you can always go get a power adapter.
    On the Zen touch.
I do like the other Zen models and a touch pad sounds nice. But I need to see it.
I do not like that creative removed EAX from the player?s firmware and hope that creative will add that back with an update.
It is nice to see that creative brought back the LCD wired remote with FM receiver.
From the looks of the case creative supplies with the touch it looks good. Although others have said that its design faulty I think it will work fine.
The touch is not plug and play, which can be annoying but it makes the player start up faster.
The touch is also a .8? hard dri've, which is a bit more shock resistant than the 2,5?(other Zen models.)
I don?t know much more on the touch, but I hope I do soon.
I am still at a loss as which player I will buy, they both look so good. I hope when I can finally see them next to each other and test them I will know.
The I ri'ver is more expensi've than the touch but it has more functions and comes with more accessories.
If you have any questions post them and we can talk about it.
