Zen Touch 40G drivers, MTP, prob

Here my problem....
I installed Nomad explorer and stuff that came with the player. Then i tried updating the firmware (probably something i shouldn't have done)...it crash... so i installed the newest drivers from the creative web site on another computer and its work perfectly. Now back to my own computer its not. I uninstaled Nomad explorer and the old plugin then installed the newest plugin .... still not working. When I plug the player in my Usb port it reconize it as a MTP device but its not in my Usb2. I use Win Xp Pro. with Sp2. Anyone can help me with that ? I dont know what to do anymore and i dont want to reformat my computer

With the MTP firmware you DO NOT need to install any Creative driver for it to work. The drivers are provided by Microsoft and are included in Windows Media Player 0, so make sure this is installed. Nomad Explorer will not work, and your Media Source and Media Explorer will need to be updated. There are 3 hotfixes which should be downloaded, get them here. You can also read that for further suggestions on getting your player to work.

Zen Touch FM Remote screen prob

hi all
i bought a Zen Touch FM Remote in aug last year and a mounth a go the screen keeps going off can anyone help me

The screen back-light does go off a set few seconds after a button/control usage. This is normal.
If that is not what you are writing about...try ONLY turning your Zen Touch player on or off by the PLAYER'S on/off button. This will initialize the player first, and then the circuits in the remote. This might fix any problems you are having.
It did for myself.

Zen Touch - WMA Backward Button Prob

I have realized that with WMA songs my Zen Touch crashes when I press the back button to relisten a song. In WMA DRM Songs protected It happen every time, in WMA normal songs some time, but not always.
There is any way to resolve this problem that was not format the player? Is mine or I have to way some firmware upgrade to resolve this problem?

Thank you for your information, I'm in the same situation. I'll hope that in a future a new release of the firmware resolve it. But on my hand I have only about 30 songs that probably I'll burn to a CD and re-rip with MP3 format.

Zen Touch Front face buttons prob

Hi, I own a Zen Touch, and suddenly today, all the front face buttons virtually cease to work. In the past, the scroll strip sometimes worked, and sometimes didn't, but always with a little massaging, it ended up functioning again. I've read the other topics about this same problem and have tried applying various amounts of small pressure to the front plate to no success as well as installing the new firmware. The only response i Will get out of it on the front plate is pressing with quite a lot of pressure on the menu or back buttons and only then will these 2 buttons function. note: the side buttons work fine.
From reading other topics, it looks like I'll either have to return it or trash it. My question for you is, the player has only very minor nicks and scrapes from normal use except for a larger dent in the bottom left side of the player which occured 5-6 months ago. I bought the player late december last year. Would creative void the rma/warrenty because of something like that?

I had exactly the same problem with mine about a few weeks ago, all the facia buttons didnt work, including the scroll, but volume up/down, power button, and hold worked. Apparantly its when the front comes loose from the board or whatever inside so they dont connect, this is why if you push it down on the front (just to the left of the scroll pad for me) it seemed to work. I was told to access recovery mode but of course, because you cant hold play down (because it doesnt work) it wont access it. I emailed creative and they told me near enough straight away that I could send it back for repair. I got a new one sent to me Hopefully you shouldnt have any problems because I hadn't even got proof of purchase ( i brought it off amazon.co.uk about 0- months before) and they said I didnt need to send proof of purchase as they had checked the serial number. Hopefully everything should go ok then :smileytongue:

Zen touch head phone jack prob

I've had my zen for just under a year now and i've recently i've started using it more frequently and realised that there is a problem with the head phone jack thats on the mp3 player.
I bought zen touch from Hong Kong(because i was on holiday there), however i li've in England and i am not sure whether i can get a replacement player or not.
Can anybody help me?
If i can get a replacement player, is there a shop that i can visit in person? because i find it insecure to send things to shops by royal mail. If there is can somebody give me the address of the nearest one to me? I li've in Nottingham.

Zen Touch: Same unsolvable button prob

The player has been nothing but joy since I bought it. Flawless functionality with only minor problems with the Mediasource software, but nothing with the player itself. Just recently though, all of the face buttons and the scroll wheel stopped working. The only thing that was working was the power and volume buttons. I'll break this down:
At first (A few hours ago when it stopped working):
-~- All face buttons and scrollwheel stopped functioning at first.
Current:
-~- Player won't connect to computer successfully.
-~- Facebuttons now function if considerable pressure is applied (Quite a bit of pressure).
-~- Scrollwheel works relati'vely well now.
-~- Clicking the touch pad to select doesn't work.
-~- OK button works semi-decently (Requires more force than normal, not as much force as face buttons though.)
-~- Hear kind of a "squeeking" (Can't think of better word) when pressing down on the touch pad. Not sure if that was there before...
I've searched the board and seen quite a few people having similiar problems. I've tried popping the touchpad back into place and I can't get into the recovery console. My player is no longer covered unde warranty and will attempt to repair the hardware myself if no solutions arise.Message Edited by OrangeEater on 06-5-2006 :09 PM

No they dont. The Zen Touch uses the MTP interface and doesn't use the Creative Zen drivers which those programs relied on. So when they are open it will tell you that the device is not connected.
RedChair should update Notmad soon, possibly in a few weeks time or sooner as they already have Duebox which support MTP for the Dell DJ's to go by so it shouldn't be hard for them to take what they did in Duebox and use it in Notmad.
JHTTP uses the Creative driver as a means of communicating with the Touch and since the new PFS firmware doesn't use the Zen driver it will not work.
Existing programs which do not require an update, but may need to download a plugin automatically, are Windows Media Player 0, Musicmatch 0+, and Real Player 0.5. WMP does not need any plugins to download. MM and Real Player will need to download a plugin but this is done within the program and is complete in a matter of seconds (about 300kb download if I can remember correctly).
The Zen plugin for Winamp will also no longer recognize the PlaysForSure Zen Touch.
The Zen Touch will also not work with Linux or Mac. XNJB for Mac does not support MTP as stated on its website, which will be updated soon to include the same message as the Zen Micro and other players have.
You are limiting yourself to a few select programs made by the large companies or those who have the money, like Red Chair, to use until third party or open source companies make something. And its been nearly a year now since the MTP players were released and I have yet to see many open source or free program by a small company be created to use, despite Microsoft releasing the MTP Porting Kit to make things a little easier for people to make a program which works. I have only seen one: Media Monkey, currently in a beta stage but it works at least with MTP players.Message Edited by DM on -02-2005 09:54 AM

Creative Zen Touch no longer docking; problem has appeared out of the bl

For the last couple of years, I've used my Creative Zen Touch without any issues. I managed to upgrade to the MTP firmware with no troubles whatsoever. When I tried to plug it in a few days ago and add a number of songs, the computer no longer recognised the player. The USB ports seem fine, and when I plug it in the player boots. It doesn't come up with the "docked" screen on the player, however, and in Windows a "trying to add new hardware wizard" window pops up that never used to pop up before. Whatever I try to do, it never works. I'm using Windows XP SP2 and like I said, I never used to have any issues before until this popped out completely unexpected. It just won't realise that the Zen Touch is a MTP player for some reason!

The people on the forum who would respond are customers, like you, being rude to them probably won't encourage them to help.

Zen Touch firmware questi

Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find any info. Are there any plans to make the Zen Touch 40g compatible with Yahoo Unlimited? The creative rep at the store told me it was but I soon found out that wasn't true. I based my purchase on compatibilty with unlimited services and will want to return my ZT if there are no plans to make it compatible. Thanks.

Perhaps you should also read the section at the top that states that this is a user interaction board. If you are looking for official answers then contacting support directly would be the best way to do this. The previous answer stating that you should use the search feature is actually not a bad suggestion, if perhaps a bit harsh.
Doing a quick comparison I see that LSD_User has 50+ posts, most of them constructi've. Not exactly the kind of stats that a board troll would have. Now someone with around 2 posts who goes hostile on their 2nd one....
Although this really isn't the best place for official answers (that would be contacting support directly) I do happen to know so I will help you out on this. The Zen Touch does not currently support subscription services; however there will be a plays for sure firmware released in the near future that will allow this to work with it. It will currently work with purchased tracks, but not subscription tracks.
Since there is nothing else to say, thread closed.

Zen touch connecting prob

I bought the zen touch yesterday and since then I have not succesfully been able to dock it to my computer. I followed all the instructions and have uninstalled/reinstalled several times. In device manager it says that the zen touch is working properly, but whenever I open nomad explorer the device blinks "docked" a couple times then goes back to the menu screen. I was wondering if anyone could help me?

I wouldn't recommend installing software *after* the Zen is attached, this can cause other problems with the driver not being found by the player.
I would recommend to the original poster that you make sure you get the latest drivers, firmware, and MediaSource from Nomadworld.com downloads. Install this with the Zen *not* connected, then when all is done and the PC is rebooted connect the Zen.

Zen Touch USB Prob

my player recently showed 'Firmware problem' so i had to go to recovery mode and reinstall firmware, and also format the hard disk.
The problem i have is that when i plug the player into the USB slot, it comes up with a message that says 'Hi-Speed usb device plugged into non hi-speed usb port' or something similar. then i click on the message like it says, and it shows me a diagram of my usb controller branching off into each individual port. the creative zen bit has a yellow symbol with an exclamation mark which usually shows when there is a problem with the connection
the bottom line is, windows is not communicating with the player at all, even though i have gone through the CD installation twice. This was a problem for me when i got the player, but i got it working after a while, can't remember how...
anyone got any ideas how to solve this?

Not sure if its of any use but have you checked the version level for your Zen Touch, it may have been updated and so you will need to download new drivers and Software to mange your Zen.

ya i can connect the player but my pc doesnt even recognize it. it always says its not connected. i've tried reinstalling all the drivers and using different USB ports but nothings worked so far.

Zen touch 20go prob

Hello, I have buy my zen touch 20go last 0/05 and it doesn't wants to work like an external hard disk whereas it's specified in the user manual that you can use it as an external hard disk. I have update all my drivers and firmware and all but it doesn't change anything.

It will never work as an external hard dri've. It will only been shown up as an portable device wich dosn?t have a dri've letter. you just can use the nomad explorer to put data files on it but you have to have installed the drivers and nomad explorer on all the computers you want to connect the touch.

You can download drivers and applications for the player on this site, just click on Support -> Downloads.
You need to download a driver (install this first), the full MediaSource Player/Organizer application and then the MediaSource plug-in.
