Zen Touch AC Power Adaptor Sp

What size (for example .7mm x 4.0mm) is the barrel connector (AC power adaptor? ) which plugs in to the Zen Touch? I don't have calipers to measure it.
I'm trying to purchase/make a car adaptor (hardwire in, NOT a cigarette lighter adaptor) which I will use to charge my Zen Touch while on the road. I know I need to supply 5vDC @ .5 amps (per Creative customer support), and I *think* I found a supplier (Lind Electronics) which has a variety of adaptors - I just need to know the size of the barral connector.
Anybody know, or know where this might be documented (It's not in the Manual)?
thanks

Thanks, SSR - I tried to measure with a ruler, and it's definately 4mm OD. Just wanted to get this back to top for any other input... (anybody from Creative want to chime in?)
What do you mean by "I'm trying to find a socket that's compatible with this..."? I guess you're looking for this connector? I looked at Radio Shack, and they have a ton of different connectors - I was going to give them a look-see.

  • HELP i cant charge my zen micro! (power adaptor troubl

I own a pink creative zen micro 5gig MP3 player. when i bought it, a special edition USB.2.0 power adaptor came with it, which is exclusi've to the 5gig zen micro mp3 players. this adaptor plugs into the wall, and charges the player, meaning i can charge my player anywhere without a computer.
well, now its stopped working. the charge just does not go through to the player, and i know it is because of a problem with the adaptor and not the player because the player still works when i connect it to a computer.
this is seriously irritating beacuse for some reason the player takes a huge amount of time to charge using my computer (as i write this it has been charging for almost and hour and the little charge level indicator in the corner of the screen has not changed from "completely empty")
what could be causing this and how do i fix it's

    Starryeyefly wrote:
well, i've just figured out that for my player to charge through the computer, the zen software that comes with the player and allowes you to transfer music has to be installed. (kinda dumb for me not to realise, but it does seem rather unnessesary)
It's not needed, at least you need to update to one of the later firmwares. I suggest using the ..0 firmware, but you want to charge your battery up a bit first before trying to update.
With the ..0 firmware (and the later v2 firmwares) you can lock the charger (slide the power button over) then connect to USB and all the power is dedicated to charging the player.
but that still dosent solve the problem with the wall adaptor. no indicator shows when i plug it in, it just wont charge.
i used to leave the adaptor plugged into the wall when my player had finished charging, with the power socket left on. im starting to think that it may have screwed the adaptor.
I'm not sure what's up with your player or adapter. An adapter could fail but it's very rare. If you have a voltage meter you can check the outputs from the first and fourth pin, which should be 5V. Be careful though.
Leaving the adapter plugged in won't cause any issue to it, other than wasting a little electricity.

  • Zen Touch 20G Power Probl

About two weeks ago I purchased my Zen Touch mp3 player to replace my iPod mini. On lunch from work today, it suddenly powered off when I went to push the <- (Back) button, with a sharp clicking sound through the headphones. When I went to power it up, it came up, but as soon as I pushed the 'Menu' button, it did the same thing (clicking sound and all). Now it's not powering up, at all. The power button isn't lit, and it was at full battery at the time this occured. Any ideas ?

  • IPod touch Airline Power Adaptor? - Need.

Hello, I'm hoping all you mac heads can help me out here.
Next week I'll be traveling to Europe and Dubai. I'm bringing my iPod Touch but want to find a way to charge it on my looooooong plane ride to and from these places. I'll most likely (god willing) be sitting in business class on the airplane (Delta). Is there any sort of power adaptor that I can buy/use to plug in my iPod Touch while on the plane? If so, do you know where I can buy one? I'm not even sure what type of connection(s) I'd need. Help!
    - Mr. Moo

Will those fit the iPod touch connector? Isn't the iPod touch connector a different size than previous ipods? I've seen some airplane power connectors but I'm afraid they won't fit the iPod touch and don't want to spend $40 bucks to see if it will or won't

  • Thank you for guidance on Zen Touch power failure probl

    Hi
Just wanted to say thanks for the help i found here when my Zen Touch's power button was lit but nothing was on the screen and it wasn't responding to anything i did!
I was literally really freaking out that all my music would be gone and i'd have to buy a new one (really can't afford to) when i thought to try online and see if anyone else had had this problem and found some people had and that they'd pressed the reset button with a paperclip and that it had solved it - with breath held, i tried this and it worked so thank you all very much - Phew x4000!!

Ouch, very unfortunate timing for a PC crash/freeze.
If the player won't even go into Rescue Mode at all, then there is little else you can try. It would be best to contact Customer Support anyway to see what they advise, and to see if there's anything they can do to assist you.

  • Power adaptor and battery HOT!

This is the message I sent to Apple a few minutes ago. Maybe some of you can have some answers as well. Thanks!
    "Dear Apple,
First of all, I would like to kindly express my apologies for using the feedback form to send you some thoughts about my MAC. I did not know who else to address to.
I have bought my MAC in September 2009, through the Apple Store online. It has been delivered in Norway, where I am living in the present.
Unfortunately, I have never been very satisfied with it, due to two main issues.
First, I have noticed a problem with the battery and power adaptor since the very first day. They are both heating up very fast, after just some minutes, and then the mac is really, really slow (even if I have just one open application). I have tried a few times to go to a service provider in Oslo, but they said it's working fine. The first time I had a visit with a service was in the first week after I bought it. Then, when I had this screen problem, so I took advantage and I asked them to check again the battery (they had it for a week or two). They said it was fine. A few weeks ago I visited 3 different services with the same issue - no problems found.
Of course one could say that this is the proper way of working of a mac, but how can a mac work so slow when they all say it is so fast? I have asked around and none of my friends had a similar problem, since they've purchased it.
I decided to write you now due to the fact that a few days ago I had to use a friend's mac for some hours (which is older than mine, a simple MacBook; plus, he uses it much often than me). It was working perfectly! Not at all slow, no heating.
Then yesterday I had my power adaptor plugged in for half an hour - then I saw that the mac was not charging (how come?). When I touched the power adaptor, I literally burned my finger. Of course I got scared as well. I tried to change the power adaptor with another one - it did not get so heat up, but the battery of the mac was still burning, as usual. I used to keep my old PC in my lap, with the mac it was always impossible, unfortunately.
With lots of regrets I am writing this message. I have never felt that I had a 'real mac', like the other friends of mine, although I was so excited in the beginning. I sincerely hope that I am a unique user.
Now I am planning to sell it to someone (I don't think I can get even half of the price now, since it is pretty old) and get back to some usual PC. With all the regrets in the world, again, because some of the features were indeed really cool (like the trackpad, for eg).
Thank you for reading this! Good luck with your future products! And may God rest in peace Steve Jobs, I hope the business will not be affected.
    Best regards,
    Cristina Moldovan"

45W is definitely not correct for any 15" model. Here are the correct model power adapters:

Yes it can hurt and potentially create a fire hazard if you use the wrong adapter. Get the correct one.
As for the display resolution the 867 Mhz TiBook was released on this release as a:

  • Is it best to run my zen touch off of an alternate power sour

Hey I was wondering if using an alternate power source such as a car adapter would increase my zen touch's battery life. It kind of seems like it would but i don't know for sure.
    Thanks!

jakeames wrote:Everything one does to the battery including ... just leaving it alone, will shorten its lifetime.
Leaving it alone as such doesn't shorten it's lifetime, it's more that the battery has a finite lifetime. BatteryUni'versity.com basically suggests that the tick is clocking once it rolls off the production line, so stockpiling this is pointless. It also implies being wary about what battery you buy 3+ years after you've had your player.

  • About the Zen Touch power adapte

I bought a Zen Touch off Ebay and realized after I bought it, that it didn't come with a power adapter! It does come with a USB cable and they said you can charge it via computer. My question is: Is there any power adapter that can fit the zen touch? Can i just buy it at wal-mart? Or is there another product that has the same tip as the zen touch?
    Thanks

  • Do both of Apple Store's iPod power adaptors work with the new Touch 2G?

    Hi,
Many thanks in advance for your attention.
Looking to to get an Apple USB power adaptor for the iPod Touch 2G.
In the Apple Store, two are listed, one smaller (and newer) than the other. In the newer one, the prongs are not retractable; in the larger (older) one, they are.
    1. Does anyone know if the larger (and older) power adaptor works with the iPod Touch 2G USB-only interface?
    2. I know that many power adaptors and speakers and car adaptor sets, etc. in the past had a combo Firewire/ USB power interface. That is why the new iPod Touch 2G (or iPhone 3G) does not charge up or power up with these speakers and chargers, etc. (Speakers such as the original Bose Sound Dock).
    3. Is it true that the older (larger) power adaptor works better in all kinds of power situations (different outlets, etc. in different countries); that the older (larger) power adaptor is more travel-versatile? The Apple store perhaps notes a difference, noting that the newer power adaptor works only with USA-style outlets. I see no such note with the older adaptor.
    4. Finally, does anyone know of a USB-only interface that would work with the iPod Touch 2G that is not Apple's (and perhaps not as insanely priced)?

    Many thanks for further clarifying.
I don't know 100% for sure that the Apple USB cable for the iPod Touch is different than the Apple USB cable for the iPod Touch 2G.
    But:
I have read (somewhere) that the tiny pin connectors are different. That is why an iPod Touch 1G could be charged by (for example) a Logitech mm50 Speaker set and an iPod Touch 2G cannot.
An iPod Touch 2G can still connect to the Logitech mm50 Speaker set. It will still play and you will hear music. But it is no longer charging. And I have read of iPod Touch 2Gs getting very hot in these cradles. That can't be good for the poor iPod in the long run.
So for the Apple USB power adaptors to work, (which both came out before the iPod Touch 2G), they must have some override or blocked pin if they can work with both generations of iPod Touches.

  • Using Flip Video Power Adaptor to charge an iPod Touch

Is it possible to use a Flip Video Power Adaptor to charge my iPod Touch without damaging it?
The Flip Adaptor says: Output +5VDC 1A (5W)
    Thanks

With this sort of thing you have a choice. You can take your chances with the cheap option, or possibly pay more than is necessary, but have what is pretty much a sure thing.
If we were talking maybe a $100 or less MP3 player, I'd say go with the cheap option because the worst that happens is you have to buy a new MP3 player for around $100. Annoying, but generally doable.
With expensive electronics, I'd suggest the sure thing. If you go cheap, and it fries the logic board on the MBP, then you're looking at like $1200 minimum. Probably around $200+ for the iPod, and around $500 for the iPhone. If Apple's gear ends up frying the various devices, Apple would be pretty much obliged to replace them. You buy some third party stuff, they'll just say the fault must have been with the third party adapters, and that you're SOL unless you cough up the cash for a repair/replacement.
So, at the end of the day, is it worth risking around $2,000 worth of equipment just to save a few bucks on a travel adapter? Only you can answer that.

  • IPOD Touch pausing when power adaptor cut off

I listen to my IPOD Touch in my car using an Apple power adaptor. With my two previous IPODs, when I turned off the car, cutting power to the IPOD adaptor, the IPOD would pause, allowing me to resume play from that point when I returned. But my Touch keeps right on playing and I have to manually pause it before getting out of the car. Is there a setting that will make it pause when it loses external power?

Place the iPod in Recovery Mode and restore via iTunes.

  • My creative zen opens without touching the power but

Hello ! For Christmas I got a creative zen 4g and it works fine I like it'sa lot but there's something weird that happened to me and I would like to know if it's a bug or something... Well here's the thing,?my creative zen was on my desk and I wasn't using it but suddenly it opened by itself (I didn't touched the power button!)?and closed a bit like when you connect the earphones, I would like to know if it's normal cause it happened to me twice and if it already happened to someone... thank you ?(sorry for my bad english i'm french...)?

Honestly i don't know if it is a serious bug in the player or not, i was bringing my player back anyways so it didn't really make a difference to me!? The person who first replied said
"Yes it is normal at least in the new firmware. Basically when you plug your earphone into the Zen, I believe it thinks you are about to turn the unit on and goes into the suspend mode until you turn on the unit. It is sort of an intelligent feature. " Its not a serious glitch in it- some Zens have very serious problems so your problem would be quite small in comparison.. and it could be just the new firmware .. but if you think you should bring it back then do! Although if it goes back to Creative they might not find anything wrong with it and it will be returned to you unchanged?Bonne chance avec ton/ta Zen! and that'smost of the French i know ha ha!
