Zen Touch battery issue, pleas

Hallo, and thanks for reading me.
few issues...
First: is it normal that when you transfer many cds to the Zen Touch it looses one or two battery points even when fully charged? considering that it is really new it is worth asking...! wasn't it supposed to last 24h? And when is the best time to rechardh it's from totally uncharged or from middle charge? any other key thing concerning battery life that i should know?
Second: how can i create a playlist directly from the Touch?
Thanks a lot friends!!!

As Igedit says, yes it's normal. The battery can run flat in an hour or two during transfers, so use the mains adapter if you can.
Second: how can i create a playlist directly from the Touch?

  • Creative Zen Touch Battery Drain

I need to drain the battery of my Zen Touch completely. It has a nasty habit (well this is the third one in a row now in 5 months) of freezing and not allowing me to select any options in the recovery menu, or going past the Zen Touch startup screen:angry:.
Anywhoo... I need to drain the battery completely because I have the sneaking suspicion that its stuck in a loop that cant be broken by reset (which I have tried), or screaming at it :-)
But I digress. I run it down so it switches itself off, and when you press the power button it flashes 3 times. This to me indicates it still has power in it.
Question - "How long till this "internal" power is used up?"
Question 2- "Is there anyway I can drain the fukker quicker than letting it sit idle for a couple of days?"
Cheers Ears for the Suggestions anyon might care to share.
A close to depressed/angry/manic Creative audiophile

I very very very much doubt that flattening the battery will solve the issue.
But, the player goes into a standby mode for 24 hours. After this it will go into a full shutdown, which you'll be able to spot due to the increased bootup time.
The absolute fastest way to drain the battery is to download/upload tracks to/from it. This hammers the hard disk which is the biggest battery consumer.
And please try to keep the language clean...

  • Zen Touch Battery Drain When Doc

whenever i am transferring my music to my Zen Touch through my computer, the battery in my Zen drains really quick (after maybe 4 hours of transferring, the whole battery could be drained). i thought when it's docked it's supposed to actually charge it's am i doing something wrong or is this a harware issue? thanks!

Only the Micro charges when it's docked. Transferring files uses a MASSIVE amount of batter power. Best to be done with the mains adapter connected if you can.

  • Zen Touch Battery Is

    Hi,
Just recently I bought a Zen Touch. I've always charged after the "low battery" sign is displayed, played songs at 92 Kbps, and rarely used equilizer settings. However, I'm still beginning to notice severe shortening of battery life. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong/what I should do to prevent this? Thanks.Message Edited by t3hggnore on 03-27-200605:32 PM

I agree that comment was totally uncalled for...
Charging the battery when the?battery is totally depleated can do more harm than good especally with the type of battery in these players, I would reccomend that its charged as soon as the battery hits one bar on the display.
Charging via USB is slower compaired to DC charging. If you use a DC adapter when your player's battery is almost depleated then it , charges faster and 2, it's supplying a fair enough voltage and current and also delei'vers a deeper charge compared to USB charging

  • ZEN TOUCH BATTERY REPLACEMENT POL

BEFORE I PURCHASED MY ZEN TOUCH 40GB, I EMAILED CREATIVE TO SEE WHAT THERE BATTERY REPLACEMENT POLICY WAS. I GOT AN EMAIL BACK SAYING CREATIVE WILL REPLACE THE BATTERY FOR YOU FOR ABOUT $80, YOU JUST HAVE TO SEND THE UNITY TO THEM. THIS WAS THE DECIDING FACTOR FOR ME TO GO WITH THE ZEN TOUCH OVER THE IPOD, THE BATTEYR REPLACEMENT POLICY WAS CHEAPER AND BETTER. CREATIVE SAYS THE BATTERY SHOULD LAST BETWEEN 3-4 YEARS UNDER NORMAL USUAGE BEFORE YOU HAVE TO SEND IT IN TO BE REPLACED. MY QUESTION IS HAS ANYONE HAD TO SEND IN THEIR ZEN TOUCH TO HAVE THE BATTERY REPLACED YET? IF SO HOW LONG DIDI IT TAKE TO GET YOUR PLAYER BACK? HOW MUCH DID IT COST? WHEN YOU GET A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED DOES THIS MEAN WHEN YOU GET THE PLAYER BACK YOU HAVE TO RE-LOAD YOUR MUSIC FROM SCRATCH?
    THANK YOU

Wow, I am glad someone has asked Creative about that - that is good news, my sister (who owns "my" Touch) will appreciate that! Incidentally, Apple just lowered the price for their iPod battery replacement program to $65.95:

  • Zen Touch Battery Quest

when i first bought my zen touch, i started loading songs on it through theusb port because i was told that the usb also charges the battery, but i didnot realize that the usb only charges the battery when the player is turnedoff, so when i loaded my first batch of music onto my player the battery wasnot charging like i thought, so i kept going back and forth from the acadaptor to the usb just to make sure the player was working and to load somemusic onto the player and listen to it to make sure it worked correctly, then i realized i had to fully charge the battery before i could really useit. so after doing all this i decided to just charge the battery fullythrough the ac adaptor before loading anymore music and playing any moremusic on my zen touch. i hope by starting off like this that i didnt do anydamage to the battery or shorten the life of it between charges because ididnt fully charge it at first before doing any transfering and playing ofmusic. please tell me there is no possiblity of ruining the battery life percharge or overall by doing what i did.thank you

It's hard to know for sure. I even contacted the author of BatteryUni'versity.com to ask about initial charging, and he was unsure as to whether it really makes any difference. So the general school of thought at the moment is that an initial charge certainly doesn't do any harm, so it might as well be done (you'll see some manuals even recommending three complete charges and discharges).

  • Zen touch battery replacem

Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible after the non-replaceble battery of the zen touch once goes dead to send the player to Creative to exchange the battery?

You can replace the battery yourself, so I guess that creative could do it to. If you would do it yourself, the warrenty would be void, but the battery should not die before 90 day warranty..

  • Zen Touch: battery not working anym

I have bought my Zen Touch a bit more than a year ago, so I am not covered anymore by the warranty (and apparently I can get any official support from Creative...) Not many serious problems so far, up to a few days ago.
I can only use my Zen Touch when plugged on the power cord. The battery is not responding. When plugged using the cord, I don't have any indication of the battery being charged. When I take out the plug, the player "dies". I tried to connect using the USB cable (and without the power plug) but that did not work (I think that was not working on mine since the beginning anyway.)
So far, I have looked for a similar problem on the forums, reset the player, rebuilt the library... Without any result.
If you have an idea how to solve this problem, that would be nice Otherwise, I will open it to see what the battery looks like...
    Thanks.

    Yep, try a reset.

  • Replacing zen touch battery in the

If i ever get round to buying a zen touch player which im strongly close too is there anywhere i could buy a replacement battery if needed in the future after the warranty expires in the uk, i have seen a link for a US site but im hoping for somewhere closer to home any help would be great.

plecc: I've not seen any link other than the site listed in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net, but a Google search should turn up anything else if it exists.

  • Zen touch connection issues with Creative softw

I?ve updated my Zen touch to the play for sure drivers and since I?ve done this the creative software does not recognise when the ZT is connected (Nomad explorer). However windows media player and HMV digital do recognise the connection and allow me to sync songs to the payer. I?ve tried loading the ?Creative Software Suite for PlaysForSure-enabled Creative Zen Touch Players? update, but this doesn?t work as it won?t recognise my ZT as connected during the installation! I?m running WMP and IE7 on my computer and have already tried the registry change mentioned to solve connection issues but this doesn?t help either.
Any suggestions or anyone else having this issue?
    Thanks

Sounds like an incompatibility with the card, which is surprising as NEC cards are usually no problem. There are various things to try as mentioned in the FAQ post (search on "connection problems") but I think you need to focus on making sure you have the latest drivers for the card, as well as the player itself.

  • IOS 5.0.1 did not fix iPod Touch battery issue

My 3g touch does not hold a charge. It was completely fine until the upgrade to iOS 5 which basically killed it! Did the 5.0.1 update and that did NOTHING! Took it to the Apple store and your so called "Geniuses" said I can replace the battery for like $80. Uhhh, NO! There is nothing wrong with the battery. It is the OS that is jacked up! You said that iOS 5 would be compatable. This needs to be fixed immediately! I know that I am not the only one out there having this issue.

    DiscoSteve74,
Are you looking for an email address to contact Apple?
If so, they don't have one. They do, however, have this, a page for feedback.
If you'd like to call them, you might have to pay a fee.
    Hope this helps,
    O.C.

  • Zen 2GB Battery Issue - Please help!

$? I bought two Creative Zen 2GB as their battery life is up to 30 hours. I have a Microsoft Zune and it gets the 4 hours listed but both of the Zen's only get 0- hours per full charge. I fully charge, then run the recovery tool and run disk clean up, format, new firmware. I then add all mp3's at 28 bitrate, EQ off, bass off and keep the volume on 3. In the setup I the brightness down as far as it will go at 0%, I think you should be able to set it to 0%. But what am I missing to only get 0-2 hour max on these two new units? I recently read about Idle shutdown, but yesterday I charged the Zen 8 hours to be sure, then with all the optimal settings I cut it on at 0pm and let it run througout the night and at 9am it had very little charge left...please help with any ideas/suggestions as I just get links from Creative tech telling me things I am already doing.

Excellent, thanks for the replies and I read about the lock function online but it said for 4GB and up I think, but not 2GB. I thought, even with the screen at the lowest, 0% that it was too much lcd and a battery drainer...thanks!
Yes, I have the 2G ZEN player and it does have the "lock function" (often on the Creative's web site they neglect to mention the 2G) - I "lock it" every time I listen to my audio books. By using this function it "closes" (blackens) ?the LCD screen and saves the battery considerably.
When I first bought this player it was the first time I had an internal battery, all the other ones I had used -AAA battery. I was hesitant about using the type of battery in the ZEN player but I can listen ALL day and ALL night and still have battery life left. Then I recharge the battery in the wee hours of the morning, ready to listen to more books and music that day.

  • Zen Micro Battery Issue: Won't Char

    Hello:
I got my Micro for Christmas and really like it so far. I also got lucky and received one of the limited edition ones with the extra battery. However, it doesn't appear that the extra battery charges to full. I have the new firmware and everything, but the second battery won't charge to more than two bars. Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone else have a possible solution? The other battery works fine.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. I ran the battery to dead, and then I plugged it in. However, the player wasn't doing the normal "glow" thing, although it was showing the battery charging icon. I then plugged the player into my laptop, whereupon it started glowing. After putting it back into the regular charger, it worked fine. The same issue happened with the other battery (the glowing stopped, but after plugging it into the laptop it worked again). Weird, but it works fine now!

  • My 8gb iPod Touch Battery Issues?

My iPod has lived in my car, plugged into the USB / iPod slot for about 9 months with no problem at all.
Over christmas, I unplugged it and took it on a trip with me. Upon unplugging, a problem immediately surfaced - the battery dies (on standby, not playing) in about 5 hours from a full charge.
The cable in the car isn't permanent live, so I can say with confidence that this wasn't happening before. It just started happening this one day.
Secondary to this, when plugged into the car now, when enough juice for it to play is finally attained (takes about 5 minutes from turning on the ignition), then the iPod will play around 5 to 10 tracks before all of a sudden, everything stops, the radio goes off and the "overheating" message is displayed on the iPod, though it's cool to touch...
After 60 seconds, you can press the menu button and the message is dismissed and the iPod will play another 5 to 10 tracks before the overheat message is displayed again and you have to wait another 60 seconds before it will go again....
This iPod is only about a year old. Help! Will a reset fix this? or is the battery actually dead? I don't have all of the music on this iPod on the laptop any more. Is there any way of resetting without losing everything?
    Thanks,
    Ben

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. Could be the battery or somethting else.

  • Zen Touch battery life after 1 year -

There are periodic questions on this forum from people concerned about the battery life of non-user-replaceable batteries on players such as the Touch and the Sleek. I have had my Touch for a year, and decided to conduct a test to see how much the battery life had decreased. I did 2 tests, one using WMA 64kbs and the other using MP3 CBR 28kbs.
    Here are my results:
    WMA 64: 25.5 hrs
    MP3 28: 25 hrs.
Essentially, there has been no reduction from the rated battery life of 24 hrs. I didn't do a similar test when I first bought my Touch, so I don't know if the original battery life was even more than this, but this is impressi've either way.

For sure, and with all the players I think that use Lithium Ion batteries

That's great to here. BatteryUni'versity.com quotes about a 20% drop in life over the first year, although I guess it varies with usage. Thanks for posting this useful data!
