[Zen Touch] Car Char

What is the appropriate Car Charger to purchase for a 40GB Zen Touch? If the Creative one is the one with the bulky in-line transformer, does anyone know of a non-creative one that's safe to use but doesn't have the big transformer? (I don't know that I trust the $6 deal on evil-bay)
Also, I plan to use this in the car 90% of the time. Is there any harm that can be done by leaving it plugged in constantly? It will detect that the battery is charged and not overcharge the unit, correct?
Thanks in advance for your replies.Message Edited by svo4turbo on 02-26-2005 02: AM

Hi, here's the link where You can get very cheap, but 00% compatible Zen Touch Car Charger: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=75464&item=5754640 576&rd=
I've got this one myself & it works perfectly without any defects.
If You will leave your player plugged in constantly it's alright only if You use it at the same time. But if it just stays on charge all the time without using, it's not good for your battery - overcharging may cause shortaging of battery life.
Hope that helps

  • Creative zen touch car accessor

hello, ipod has this?adapter where you can plug?it into the cigarette lighter and it plays the ipod over the radio and the speakers in your car,i was wondering is there any item like that for my creative zen touch?

A case is coming from Creative.
I don't remember hearing anything about a dock yet.
The video cable was being discussed on another thread, and it wasn't clear whether 3rd party cables work or not.
There's no need to buy a travel adapter. Just buy a plug adapter for the current adapter.
Screen protectors for the iPod apparently fit pretty well. They might need some trimming, or you can just buy another oversized screen protector e.g. for a PDA, and cut to size.
There have been MANY headphone recommendation threads, like this one. Try searching back. I personally recommend Sony's EX5/7 canalphones, as well as the Sharp HP-MD33S canalphones (Creative have rebadged these and sell that as the EP-630s). They might be a little above your budget, but are both great canalphones.

  • Zen Touch Car Adapter??? carrying ca

Does anyone know if there is a car kit available for the Zen Touch as well as a better carrying case?

There is a silicone sleeve made by Exspect that was intended for the 20GB but because of its stretchability and looseness, it fits the 40GB quite will (may be even better). In the UK you can find it at amazon.co.uk. In the US, you can pre-order from here: http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=2264.

  • Zen Touch Replacement char

I sent my Zen Micro back for its 2nd RMA, but Creative sent me a Zen Touch instead. Only problem is that I have no charger now, because the Zen Micro charger seems to be incompatible.
I am aware that you can use a Nomad Jukebox charger, but I need a UK version and they are out of stock.
Does anybody here know if any of these uni'versal USB chargers will work with the Zen Touch?
    Any other suggestions?

OK, thanks for the help. I think I'll keep the Touch, as it took 9(!) weeks for Creative to finally get me a replacement and I don't fancy waiting that long.
I don't know why the Zen Micros keep dying (I've lost two!) - do you think it's caused by a head crash on the HDD?
Has anyone tried a mains USB adaptor - like this one?

  • Zen micro car char

i recently purchased a off of ebay (from accstation), has anyone else purchased one of these? i immediatly had issues with it, it wont actually chare the micro, and it makes the micro skip and freeze up, i was wondering if anyone else was having these issues.
    Thanks~

Someone else got a charger from eBay and it wouldn't work either. Not sure if this was accstation or not.

  • Zen Touch in your car speak

Hi there every. how do I get the zen touch to direct connect to my car player. (no FM tX) I also dont have an auxillery connection to the front face of it either(cd player) is there a usb thing that can trick the cd player like the ipods and make it think its a cd changer? thanks.

Do you have a cassette player in your car?
If so, you can buy a cassette adaptor, (less than $0 USD) and use it that way. The sound is not high-fidelity, but in a car, who cares?

  • Connecting zen touch to car stereo (no tape dec

i'd like to play music from my zen touch in my car, but i've a head unit with no tape deck.... is there some accessory/way i can get by without a tape adapter? thanks,
    -matt

Most car decks don't have auxillary input with the two holes. The Aux. input is usually combined with the CD Changer option, an adapter is usually needed to convert the CD changer jack to an Aux. Jack.
Most likely if you are trying to do this with a stock deck, it might be impossible, but it doesn't hurt to try take a look and see if there is an Aux input.

  • My Zen Touch won't turn on or char

My Zen Touch won't turn on, nor will it charge.
    Here's what happened:
    . I hadn't used it for about a week
    2. I try to turn it on, and nothing happens. It's not locked.
    3. I plug it into the charger and nothing happens.
    4. I reset it, and the title screen appears. I wait for the title screen to disappear, but it doesn't. It doesn't charge either.
    5. I take out the charger and it turns off! I try to turn it back on and still nothing happens.
    6. I plug the charger back in and, yet again, the title screen appears but doesn't change or charge.
It seems like the battery life has run out, but it won't charge.
    WHAT CAN I DO!?

Nevermind, I just went and checked my mp3 player (I left it on the charger) and now it is charging. I conclude that the battery was dead and I was just impatient :P
    Thanks anyway.

  • Is The Zen Touch Sensitive To Moti

I notice that everytime I use the Zen Touch in my car, or when I'm walking the player either locks up, randomly selects tracks, or just don't act right. But when I have it placed in one place, it plays just fine. Is this common with the Zen Touch? If so, is there anything that can be done about it's Thanks.

I only have the lock button engaged when I'm in my car, or walking with the player, while I'm playing audio tracks. I use the pause/play button a lot also. That's when the problem begins.

  • Listening to Zen Touch via external devi

    Hi fellow Creative users,
since this is my first post, please excuse if this is the wrong forum to post my question on.
I have recently bought a Zen Touch 20G and am very happy with it. A couple of glitches here and there, nothing that resetting couldnt fix.
So here is my question: When i try to connect my CZ to a stereo, i cant get any sound out of the speakers. The music is playing, i can see it on the screen, all cables are connected properly, the volume is set on highest - and still nothing.
I have also tried to play it through my tv (Loewe, about 3 years old). Now this works, but the tv does not seem to recognise the player as a connected device, and since it has an auto shut-off when no broadcast function, it dutifully switches itself off every 5 min or so.
The only solution is to play it via FM transmitter, which i understand would not deli'ver the same quality sound as a cable connection would.
    any ideas/suggestions anyone?
    thanks in advance!

I dont know if your car has a cassette player or not, but in my car I just use a cassette adapter: just plug the jack into the player and stick the cassette in. As for connecting it to a stereo and such, I simply use an RCA jack to /4 in. jack.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...onics&n=507846 I have found this device to be of high quality, and it has never failed me. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...03-2285-304247 and this is the cable for stereos and such. If you havent tried this already, then I hope this is helpful. Good luck..Message Edited by clousewa on 02-03-2005 05:5 AM

  • Is it best to run my zen touch off of an alternate power sour

Hey I was wondering if using an alternate power source such as a car adapter would increase my zen touch's battery life. It kind of seems like it would but i don't know for sure.
    Thanks!

jakeames wrote:Everything one does to the battery including ... just leaving it alone, will shorten its lifetime.
Leaving it alone as such doesn't shorten it's lifetime, it's more that the battery has a finite lifetime. BatteryUni'versity.com basically suggests that the tick is clocking once it rolls off the production line, so stockpiling this is pointless. It also implies being wary about what battery you buy 3+ years after you've had your player.

  • Creative Zen Touch Battery Drain

I need to drain the battery of my Zen Touch completely. It has a nasty habit (well this is the third one in a row now in 5 months) of freezing and not allowing me to select any options in the recovery menu, or going past the Zen Touch startup screen:angry:.
Anywhoo... I need to drain the battery completely because I have the sneaking suspicion that its stuck in a loop that cant be broken by reset (which I have tried), or screaming at it :-)
But I digress. I run it down so it switches itself off, and when you press the power button it flashes 3 times. This to me indicates it still has power in it.
Question - "How long till this "internal" power is used up?"
Question 2- "Is there anyway I can drain the fukker quicker than letting it sit idle for a couple of days?"
Cheers Ears for the Suggestions anyon might care to share.
A close to depressed/angry/manic Creative audiophile

I very very very much doubt that flattening the battery will solve the issue.
But, the player goes into a standby mode for 24 hours. After this it will go into a full shutdown, which you'll be able to spot due to the increased bootup time.
The absolute fastest way to drain the battery is to download/upload tracks to/from it. This hammers the hard disk which is the biggest battery consumer.
And please try to keep the language clean...
