Zen Touch DAP HD0014

Hi I have a Zen Touch DAP HD004. I have had it for some years. My problem is I have recently had to re install windows ZP on my Toshiba Satellite laptop. The software for the player is packed away in my house in Spain and i returned to the UK? a year ago. My Laptop recognises the player and will list the tracks but I cannot do anything with them. For starters is there anyway I can copy them over?

Problem with Creative Zen Touch DAP-HD0014

Hey,
I have the Creative Zen Touch DAP HD004 as listed in the subject. Version .0.03
In the "Information" part of the player, it lists it as having GB of music available, but in the menu only the 59 default classical music songs appear. (These are not knowingly mine!)
I was wondering whether there was any way to turn the player into Hard Dri've mode to retrieve these songs, or to use some sort of program to view them and put them back onto the player? Everytime I use My Computer to browse the MP3 Player, all that appears are the same 59 songs.
I hope this information can help someone to solve my problem!!

EDIT: I downloaded a trial version of "Notmad Explorer" and I can now see 2590 Data Files. Once I download a full version, is it simple to just conver Data Files into Audio Files?

Creative Zen Touch DAP-HD0014

Hi, I have a problem with this, when it boots up it says firmware problem and boots to recovery mode. I've downloaded the firmware and am unable to update it as there is a message saying not connected. I have tried USB ports on front & rear on my PC and with different cables. Any ideas would be gratefully received!

The zen touch has to to be installed as a?WPD instead of a MTP. The process of rolling back the windows media takes out the auto to make it's a MTP.
So I suggest to the creative dudes is make a driver that loads the players as a WPD and the upgrade will work on all the players.
Everybody that lets it load as a MTP will never get the Upgrade button to work.
Very simple problem. Yes. But how do you get it to install as creative zen touch WPD. You will have to do alot of things to your computer and then luckily it will load as a WPD.
I am asking the creative team to modify the Upgrade installer to recognize the new MTP for the Upgrade installer the simplest solution. Alittile GIU programming guys.
I await the the new Upgrade installer.
PS The whole purpose for the upgrade is to be in MTP mode. Once it reboots the first time the upgrade installer should recognize the player as a MTP no matter what! Then we could hit the upgrade buton to install the firmware 2..0.

Zen touch DAP-HD0014 drivers

I am having a issue with my Zen. I had windows xp home on my last laptop and I could plug in the Zen and the computer would see it as a harddri've. I could then drag MP3s over. No problem.
Now, I have a laptop that has windows xp pro, and it does not see the Zen,
Went to the website got the drivers, and the software. nothing. Still a no go, and to boot. That ZENcast deal locks up my computer and will not load?
Is there a simple driver to get this to work, or I am stuck with the same songs for life?

Zen Touch DAP-HDOO14 20 GB Problems with software and connection vi

Hi?I recently got the above model with the latest firmware. I downloaded to vista software from the site and downloaded songs no problem. All of a sudden the software crashed.Now, although my computer says that its plugged in and the correct driver is installed, Windows Media Payer does not say anything is plugged in and Creative Media Source just crashes completely when I click on the Touch option to transfer files to it. It did work briefly but crashed halfway thruogh 'writing' one of the songs and the same problems happened again. I have tried cleaning it from the help menu, uninstalling and re installing the software and everything?PLEASE HELP!Thanks

I have had it working the last few times and it rips a track but then half way through writing the cd stops and it says 'an error occorred while transferring the cd' this happens on lots of cd's i have tried can anyone tell me the problem? or sulution.

Help using my zen touch to use as a mass storage device

Okay, usb_modeswitch works fine. There is one odd quirk though... Arch is set up so that it loads XBMC by default (I'm using this as a media PC). On my old wifi adapter, which does not need modeswitch, the weather and news on XBMC update immediatly when it is started. With this wifi adapter they do not update at all. I can tolerate this though, but if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

A Petition to ask Creative to update the firmware of the Zen Touch to Include EAX capabiliti

Hi. I have been looking for a new hard dri've MP3 player and am thinking about getting the Zen Touch. But I was unhappy that creative removed the EAX functions that were in their other players. If you look HERE on the little flash demo you can see in the LCD screen of the touch that this picture of the touch HAS EAX. If the touch had EAX and creative removed it just before selling it then it must be easy to put back in.

So I just went through all through posts to see how many names we have, and it turns out that there was much more discution than I thought there was. With all the names from the thread and from what UT-king has added we have ~556~ names. Its less than what I thought it was, but its still really good.

My Zen Disappeared??? (Zen Touch 40

At first I was a bit skeptical about updating the firmware to the "Plays for Sure" ver 2..0 from the original .0.03 that came installed on my Zen Touch (Purchased Dec 5th) 'cause I really don't use any subscription services. I was a bit concerned that the "Custom EQ" didn't funtion as I thought it should. (I just put out $00.00 for a set of Shure E2c's though) So, I backed up all my music, and went ahead with the firmware upgrade. I was a bit unhappy when I found that Mediasource no longer had the same functionality but since I was pretty familiar with WMP0 I felt, I could get past that hurdle. I was happy to see that "My Zen" was listed in the WMP Library when I first used WMP to reload all of my music. I am a bit concerned now that I have had to reboot and rebuild the music library on my Touch that it has now disappeared from the WMP library.
Does anyone out there know how to get it back?

Connecting zen touch to an ap

I am trying to connect my zen touch to an apple computer. It is not registering it, and i can't install the cd. Any Help?

The link in my message leads to a great little program that lets you use the Micro with iTunes on a Mac. You can also use XNJB... so the Micro does work with Mac, it is just better optimized for the PC platform.

Upgrading Zen Touch Firmware -- Crashed - Now Won't Work.

First post on the forum so go easy on me! )
OK, I brought a zen touch a few years back, and it worked fine etc. Went travelling mid July last year and put it into storage.
Come home (UK) this month, got it out of storage and booted it up, all working fine, playing music, transfering new files fine etc.
Went online with it connected to my poota and decided to check for updates etc.
Thought it would be good to upgrade the firmware, so downloaded the latest version 2..0 ... backed up all my music, then ran the firmware upgrade, it said to plug in the touch, which I did, and off it went upgrading...
0 minutes went by, and it was stuck on blue bar, still saying it was upgrading. I looked at the touch and it said 'recovery mode'...
OK, I thought, it's still going, so off I went to make a cup of tea and came back about 5 minutes later ... still nothing, same thing on the touch, but the upgrade firmware on the poota had stopped responding and so I took the reluctant decision to unplug the touch and reboot the poota.
Whilst the poota was rebooting, I turned the touch off and back on, it said 'firmware problem' and asked me to go through recovery...
So I cleaned it, formatted it, then rebooted. It still said 'firmware problem' .. so, I clicked on reload firmware on the touch, and it said reload firmware via usb, I clicked yes, and it said erasing firmware and that it was ready for the firmware to be reloaded. So I went back to my poota and clicked on the firmware upgrade programme and it said connect the touch, which was strange as the touch was already connected....
The touch was recognised by the poota when I plugged it in, but the hard dri've size was only 20mb instead of 20gb, which I thought was a bit strange...
And this is as far as I can get.
The touch is recognised by the poota as it shows up on the dri've page, but its only got 20mb registered instead of the 20gb the touch is (although when cleaning the touch it said 20gb available on the touch screen!!) ... I can click on the touch dri've icon and it opens up the dri've but again only saying it is 20mb in size. And also very strange is that when I click on properties on the touch it says the firmware is 2.0.04-0.00.0 ....
When I click on the firmware upgrade programme it says the touch is not connected!?!
When I click on nomad it says not connected....
I've tried the recovery thingy but it says that the touch is not connected!!
But it is connected!
HELP!!
Info that you might need:
Zen Touch Model No: DAP-HD004
Poota running Win XP sp2 and also tried it on Win Vista Basic
Anything else you need to know just ask.
Any help is really appreciated!!

If this is true then Creative best make the ZEN Micro 20GB's battery 25 hours plus.

Battery life for the new Zen "is" only eleven hours. Personally, I think this new model is a huge step backwards. Creative is only doing this in an effort to emulate the sucess of the Zen Micro. The reason the Micro is more successful is two fold. First, it's smaller. Size has never been an issue for me. My Zen Touch usually sits on a shelf at work or in my car. I have no itention of clipping it to my waist or even carrying it in a pocket. However, let's face it. The largest market for DAPs is primarily made up of kids. For them, size is a major factor. Second, the Zen Touch was poorly marketed right from the start. I can't remember seeing it advertised anywhere. On the other hand, you can't avoid the ads for the Zen Micro.

Lost Zen Touch Firmw

I followed the procedure to update my 20gb Zen Touch Firmware from version .0.03 to the latest PlayForSure version exactly as given in the update details. The software locked up during the procedure so now I appear to have no firmware at all on the Zen and the PC reports that the Zen is not connected. How on earth do I recover the situation?

....but I can't load any firmware - firmware upgrade says that player is not connected. I've found similar problem in here, but for now this method can't fix that problem with my player.

Can the Zen Touch 20GB use Realaud

I have the Zen Touch 20GB (DAP-HD004) and am trying to figure out whether it will support the rax file type from Real. It mentioned on the real site that this device was supported for the music store, but I am unable to transfer the files. Can anyone provide any insight? Thank you in advance.

? Does Creative Lie, Lie, Lie and ignore their faithful customers? YES
? Do the Zen Touch owners have a clue as to when their firmware upgrade announced last October will be out? NO
This looks good for Apple and IPod.
Not to good for Creative. This is what happens when you are successful. You screw faithful customers.
Guess what. I am no longer a faithful customer and I have been one since their first 8 bit sound blaster card.
Last but not least. Don?t forget DO NOT TO BUY CREATIVE. I will be sure to share this feeling to anyone who will listen. If I see someone buying a Creative product I will let them know their on their own if there is trouble. It?s better to buy a non creative product?..

Zen Touch and more: disappointed with Creative's Broken Promi

Around December I began looking for a digital audio player for myself, and finally concluded that the zen touch would be the perfect player for me. I shied away from the ipod seeing as that EVERONE had one or wanted one simply because it was the thing to get, and I didn?t want to jump onto the bandwagon, and the non-removable battery issue gave me confidence that I was justified in thinking that it was not as great as everyone made it out to be. I read that the Touch had screw to open it up and fpund an online site that sold its batteries, plus coupled with longer battery life and wma capatibility, as well as $80 less!! I figured that the Touch was a surly superior over the ipod. When I received the player, and still now, I am satisfied with the touch. I DID have to return it once because my power button was sticking and I could not turn it on and off, but the process of replacing it was smooth and the new one works fine.
In fact, I was so pleased with Creative?s products and service that I bought my girlfriend a Muvo TX FM for valentine?s day, seeing it also as superior to any other flash dri've player I could find, and later bought one for myself for when I work out and also to save and transfer files. I loved the players and how media source could simply organize all my players, and it was a real swell music player as well, while I looked down on Apple as a no good sell-by-trend company with inaccessible batteries and flash players without even a screen, and all other competitors either were or less quality or more money. Now, however, my confidence in Creative has significantly diminished. This started with the promise of new firmware to give MTF support, fit equalizer settings, fix the broken customizable starting screens, napster on the go support?ect?ect?ect?which has been promised almost as long as I have had my player but not deli'vered. Don?t get me wrong, I love the touch without this firmware, but the fact that they promised it, even gave a time frame, and then pushed it aside for micro firmware, design and advertisement of new players, and set more unmet dates really irritates me.
The next thing to happen, Well actually not happen, was the release of the micro photo. Creative promised it sometime around June and it is now almost august and there is still not even a word as to a possible release date, although there is plenty of advertisement of the new neon players, the zen, and the renamed muvo zen nano?s. I had promised my girlfriend a micro photo for her birthday in june, and we were both disappointed to find that is was not available. The thrid thing that happened was the cracking of the casing and display screen on my girlfriend?s muvo. Now she does now throw thing thing around, in fact it spends most of the day in her pocket book, so this came as a surprise to both of us. We were upset to find out that creative would not replace the player.
Finally, Apple has released their new 20gb photo ipod with podcasts for the same price as their older 4th generation version, and this actually caught my attention. I have been full against apple since my digital audio player browsing in December, but this one had me warming up to them. The podcasts were a wonderful new feature as well as the color screens. I was so impressed that I visited the apple website to get more information. To my surprise I also discovered that the previous $00 battery replacement plan had actually GONE DOWN!! to $59. Now I don?t recall creative even having such a plan, and have heard somewhere that they would charge one $00 for a new battery. Seeing all this I began a mad search on cnet through the digital audio players from all companies to find one that offered all that this new ipod, and I was dismayed to find none at all, and I was instantly converted. I bought my girlfriend the ipod for her birthday instead of the photo for $270, $50 more than my touch but with more and better features and I happened to remember a price of $350 mentioned for the micro photo. From what I can see Apple is a company that ACTUALLY CARES AND LISTENDS to the wants of its customers. Not to be bashing Creative here, but I will simply state that from what I have seen and experienced, Creative has been deaf its customer's simplest requests.

Absolutely. A colour screen is a novelty and nothing more. I'm sure that a very small percentage are using the iPod Photo to its full abilities.
As for Creative making a Zen Micro Photo (or Zen 20GB Photo), I would also have to ask why do it if the player cannot operate as a plug and play storage device (no drivers needed). It's gimmicky, and while that may sell, it will force Creative into a dangerous game of trying to gain marketshare while dealing with profit margins that will be dictated by Apple's response to such products if Creative does release them.
Agreed also. Without correct integration this player will go nowhere.
The last I heard the one gimmick pushed by the iPod Photo crowd, Album Art, wasn't going to be supported either.
While I'm definitely not happy that Creative appears to have "effecti'vely" abandoned the ZTouch and Nomad Zen Xtra, I would prefer that they focus on getting one family of players in the 20GB and up range into every market they play in. Right now, my own personal choice would be to get the Zen Sleek out into every market, as this would help them streamline their product stable and make a stronger effort to take marketshare away from Apple. This is a war and someone has to be the point man. We may not like taking the first rounds, but if it helps beat the enemy, perhaps it really is for the greater good.
They certainly need to push the advantage, which means pushing alliances with music stores, and making that firmware light years ahead of the iPod.
Also there needs to be some world strategy here. We're seeing the Sleek on the European Store, but where is it elsewhere, and why no comment about it's Same goes for the Zen Micro TravelDock. Creative regions need to work together better, along with better stock control
