Zen Touch FM Remote screen prob

hi all
i bought a Zen Touch FM Remote in aug last year and a mounth a go the screen keeps going off can anyone help me

The screen back-light does go off a set few seconds after a button/control usage. This is normal.
If that is not what you are writing about...try ONLY turning your Zen Touch player on or off by the PLAYER'S on/off button. This will initialize the player first, and then the circuits in the remote. This might fix any problems you are having.
It did for myself.

Zen Touch 20gig remote headpho

I recently purchased a Zen Touch 20gig which i am pleased with but i noticed that the headphones that came with it were standard headphones. However that the headphone slot design indicates to me that you can plug remote headhones into it. I have not seen a pair of headphones avaiable for the zen touch that include a remote control on them but if any one knows something i don't or thinks they can help me out i would appreciate it!

Also if your going to use the remote for the zen, its a good idea to purchase earphones with short (remote friendly) cords. Not sure about other companies, but sony sell several of their earphones/headphones with short cords or short cords + extension. Look for the SP and SL at the end of the model names.

Zen Micro Wired Remote Control Prob

Anybody having problems with their supplied zen micro wired remote control?
Mine seems to be having a connection problem with the player, slight movements will cause breakages in the music, left earphones will cease playing out.
Seems that some people are having problems with zen micro's earphone jacks, however, using the supplied the earphones(minus the wired remote control) works well.

hmm, I had same problem with 2 days- was definetly a loose connection in the wiring of the remote plug, as has been no problem with other headpohnes, and is not the 'heasdphone jack' issue (yet! thank god!)
took 3 weeks to get replacement remote from creative (only returned remote, not Zen, luckily) have not really messed around with the replacement yet, but looks ok.... am really hoping so cos it is really useful for going mountain biking with the zen nice & secure in my backpack....

Zen Touch - WMA Backward Button Prob

I have realized that with WMA songs my Zen Touch crashes when I press the back button to relisten a song. In WMA DRM Songs protected It happen every time, in WMA normal songs some time, but not always.
There is any way to resolve this problem that was not format the player? Is mine or I have to way some firmware upgrade to resolve this problem?

Thank you for your information, I'm in the same situation. I'll hope that in a future a new release of the firmware resolve it. But on my hand I have only about 30 songs that probably I'll burn to a CD and re-rip with MP3 format.

Zen Touch Front face buttons prob

Hi, I own a Zen Touch, and suddenly today, all the front face buttons virtually cease to work. In the past, the scroll strip sometimes worked, and sometimes didn't, but always with a little massaging, it ended up functioning again. I've read the other topics about this same problem and have tried applying various amounts of small pressure to the front plate to no success as well as installing the new firmware. The only response i Will get out of it on the front plate is pressing with quite a lot of pressure on the menu or back buttons and only then will these 2 buttons function. note: the side buttons work fine.
From reading other topics, it looks like I'll either have to return it or trash it. My question for you is, the player has only very minor nicks and scrapes from normal use except for a larger dent in the bottom left side of the player which occured 5-6 months ago. I bought the player late december last year. Would creative void the rma/warrenty because of something like that?

I had exactly the same problem with mine about a few weeks ago, all the facia buttons didnt work, including the scroll, but volume up/down, power button, and hold worked. Apparantly its when the front comes loose from the board or whatever inside so they dont connect, this is why if you push it down on the front (just to the left of the scroll pad for me) it seemed to work. I was told to access recovery mode but of course, because you cant hold play down (because it doesnt work) it wont access it. I emailed creative and they told me near enough straight away that I could send it back for repair. I got a new one sent to me Hopefully you shouldnt have any problems because I hadn't even got proof of purchase ( i brought it off amazon.co.uk about 0- months before) and they said I didnt need to send proof of purchase as they had checked the serial number. Hopefully everything should go ok then :smileytongue:

Zen touch head phone jack prob

I've had my zen for just under a year now and i've recently i've started using it more frequently and realised that there is a problem with the head phone jack thats on the mp3 player.
I bought zen touch from Hong Kong(because i was on holiday there), however i li've in England and i am not sure whether i can get a replacement player or not.
Can anybody help me?
If i can get a replacement player, is there a shop that i can visit in person? because i find it insecure to send things to shops by royal mail. If there is can somebody give me the address of the nearest one to me? I li've in Nottingham.

Zen Touch: Same unsolvable button prob

The player has been nothing but joy since I bought it. Flawless functionality with only minor problems with the Mediasource software, but nothing with the player itself. Just recently though, all of the face buttons and the scroll wheel stopped working. The only thing that was working was the power and volume buttons. I'll break this down:
At first (A few hours ago when it stopped working):
-~- All face buttons and scrollwheel stopped functioning at first.
Current:
-~- Player won't connect to computer successfully.
-~- Facebuttons now function if considerable pressure is applied (Quite a bit of pressure).
-~- Scrollwheel works relati'vely well now.
-~- Clicking the touch pad to select doesn't work.
-~- OK button works semi-decently (Requires more force than normal, not as much force as face buttons though.)
-~- Hear kind of a "squeeking" (Can't think of better word) when pressing down on the touch pad. Not sure if that was there before...
I've searched the board and seen quite a few people having similiar problems. I've tried popping the touchpad back into place and I can't get into the recovery console. My player is no longer covered unde warranty and will attempt to repair the hardware myself if no solutions arise.Message Edited by OrangeEater on 06-5-2006 :09 PM

Zen Touch 40G drivers, MTP, prob

Here my problem....
I installed Nomad explorer and stuff that came with the player. Then i tried updating the firmware (probably something i shouldn't have done)...it crash... so i installed the newest drivers from the creative web site on another computer and its work perfectly. Now back to my own computer its not. I uninstaled Nomad explorer and the old plugin then installed the newest plugin .... still not working. When I plug the player in my Usb port it reconize it as a MTP device but its not in my Usb2. I use Win Xp Pro. with Sp2. Anyone can help me with that ? I dont know what to do anymore and i dont want to reformat my computer

With the MTP firmware you DO NOT need to install any Creative driver for it to work. The drivers are provided by Microsoft and are included in Windows Media Player 0, so make sure this is installed. Nomad Explorer will not work, and your Media Source and Media Explorer will need to be updated. There are 3 hotfixes which should be downloaded, get them here. You can also read that for further suggestions on getting your player to work.

CREATIVE ZEN TOUCH - froz

Hey guys
all of a sudden, my zen touch froze. a screen came up that just said there was a firmware problem. this happens whenever it switches on and once on it wont turn off until it runs out of battery! also the reset button doesn't work. i've tried just connecting it to the computer and trying to update the firmware that i've got off the internet but of course it tells me that the player is not connected!
does anyone have any suggestions?

Zen Touch Screen Prob

I have had my Zen Touch for almost 2 years, and have never had a problem with it until yesterday. The screen is now completely blank. The blue backlight and blue power light still work, as do all of the buttons. It still plays all of my music, but the LCD screen is completely blank so I can't see the song, album title, track time, etc....
I've tried the reset button a few times, turning it off and on, and even plugging it into the charger, all with no success. I'm in the process of running the battery down to see if that helps, but I doubt it will. Anyone face a similar problem or know of a solution? Is it broken for good? Please help!

I've got the same problem. The unit is about a year and a half old now. One day it worked and then poof it didn't.
I sure don't know of a solution at this time. From reading the posts on this forum it sure seems like this is a fairly wide spread problem which has a lot of consumers very upset with the poor quality of this unit. As many people have posted I find it hard to imagine that the cost of getting the unit repaired would be warranted.
Up until this point I was very happy with the unit and because of this both of my children have Creative products (a Micro and a Vision M).
I wonder if we have any makings of a class action suit here?
I can tell you this, if either my daughters or son's unit give less than acceptable lifespan then I will never, ever consider purchasing another Creative product again. Great performing product, very easy to use, lousy lifespan (seem to be pre-programmed to die shortly after warranty - seems to be a common trait of electronics these days).
I'm currently considering the Toshiba MP3 products - looks very nice, hopefully better quality.
Please post any solution to this problem or information regarding getting the unit repaired.

Is it possible Creative pulled the Zen Touch Wired FM Remotes for a redesig

I was thinking of purchasing one of these wired remotes for my Zen Touch...but can't find them anywhere...anywhere here on creatives site and anywhere else online...all say out of stock...would make sense and all since it is Xmas coming up...but after reading all the reviews on this unit and how expensi've it is and how it breaks after a certain amount of months...perhaps creative is pulling them for redesign or something?
would love to buy one...but...can't find one...yet everyone says this thing is crap!

So...first off...where in the world are all the accessories for the Zen Touches? Man..what a dissapointment...spent alot of money on this thing mainly becuase I use alot of creative products and did not want to give in to the IPod craze...not to mention I'm a service tech. at my work and we get like 0 ipods a day in for service...such garabage...anyways:

all I require is a forward...backwards...fast forward..reverse...power on/off...backlight display with maybe the time duration on a track...and thats about it. is that so hard? does it exsist?...i'm leaning towards a probably not.
can't help but feel abandond on my unit given there is a lack on accessories for this unit...and it just seems like creative is pumping out those really small...no space mp3 players with a full heap of accessories to choose from.

What accessories do you want? Most of the iPod accessories are junk, or just infinite versions of the same thing.

There is only the one remote, so that's the only choice I'm afraid. But if you don't need the features, don't use them.
