Zen touch is froz

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I cannot turn it off, and all buttons seem to not work. When I plug it into my computer, the screen will change to the "Docked" screen, but the computer does not recognize that it is their (computer won't upload the zen touch's library or playlists)
I mustn't be the only one that this has happened to?

You can as well drain the battery and then just charge the thing up.

Can someone help. I guess I need to go into rescue mode, BUT, all
indications say I must shut down the player first.
What do I do?
Thank you for any help.

Hi,
I have the same problem. I received mine as a gift (less than a month old) and i could not get it to turn off, i'd only be able to reset the device and then it would try and boot up and freeze at the splash screen with a horizontal black pixel high line then streetching across the screen. Power button does not work even if you try and power down as soon as you reset (tried many unsuccessful attempts at this).
I purchased mine through newegg and they gave me an RMA and i sent it out yesterday actually. I did some extensi've reseach before calling and it seems that it is some type of a hard dri've hardware failure. I'd contact creative or your retailes customer support to see your next step.
Good luck!

• FREEZING 20 GB ZEN TOUCH, NOW DE

Help
My zen touch has froze a couple of times but i just let battery run down and then recharge, everything fine, but this time when i unplugged from charger seems to be on (wee blue on button on lit) but nothing on screen no sound, nothing DEAD! Help! Will not turn play when connected to usb or mains either.

You don't need mains, but if reset doesn't work without the mains connected you should try it.
So for the moment just try resetting it. Try it a few times if it doesn't work. You could also try accessing the Rescue Mode which just means holding play down when you press reset, then keeping it held down until it boots into Rescue Mode.

• Zen touch froze, now i'm stuck in recovery m

my zen touch froze, after idle shutdown i turned it back on and it froze again. the next day, i turned it on, and it showed my libary as being empty. i tried to reload some music onto it, but one of two error messages kept coming up; one saying that the player was either busy or not connected, or one saying there was an error and to ensure that the player was properly connected. it was, as i could tell by the "docked" image on the screen of the player. i went into recovery mode and reloaded the firmware, and am now unable to get out of recovery mode. i turned the player off, then on, and nothing. i hooked the player to my computer to see if i could put music on it, and i still got the same error message. how do i get the software to recognize the player, or is it not recognizing it now because im in recovery mode? if so, how do i get OUT of recovery mode? and any idea if this all means my music library is completely gone, or will it be able to be recovered??
ANY help at this point would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

thanks so much for your help!
i ran the firmware update, it got me out of recovery mode and the player itself is working normally, but when i try to add music to it from my computer, it still says "the operation failed. ensure player is properly connected before trying again." The "docked" icon is on the screen of the player, and whenever i try to add music, i can hear the hard dri've clicking away. it clicks a few times like it's trying to do something, then that message pops up on my computer screen. i went into device manager with the player hooked up and it was recognized. i disconnected the player and reconnected it so i could see that it was being recognized when i plugged it back in and it was. i then went back into the mediasource to try and add music again, and still nothing.

• Zen Touch Froze, It will not re-set or enter recovery m

My Creative Zen Touch froze when my sister was using it, She didn't know what to do with it so waited for me to come home, when i got home the battery had died. Letting the battery die and recharging it has sorted this problem for me on numerous occasion at this stage but this time i am unable to recharge it. It sits at the reboot "Creative Copyright 2004" screen and will not recharge or turn on. I have tried the re-set button and entering into the Recovery mode with no success.
Any ideas ?

there is a way to recharge the battery, but therefore you have to remove it from the player, which will void the warranty, and still nobody has done this with a touch. at least i know of.
i don?t know the exact procedure so maybe you should search this forum for " battery died", or so. or somebody will explain it again.
the other way is to contact customer support and ask them if they could help.

• Is your Zen Touch froz

Does it hang at the "Zen Touch" screen? Is it not accesible whatsoever?Okay here's the thing. A lot of people are having this problem, even I had it. So this is what you need to do:
First off, try running a cleanup of your Zen. To run the cleanup you will need toget into Rescue (AKA Recovery) mode.. Turn off your Zen player.2. Hold down the Play/Pause button and insert a paper clip into the Reset hole on the Jukebox Zen.3. Remove the paper clip from the Reset hole and then release the Play/Pause button after the recovery mode has started.4. The Jukebox Zen will enter the Recovery Mode and the following options will be displayed:a. Clean Up (Performs a disk scan on the players harddisk)b. Format All (Formats the players harddisk - Note: all contents will be lost)c. Reload OS (Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox - Note: Reloading your OS, will not effect the contents of the files stored on your Jukebox Zen)d. Reboot (Reboots the device)
That's that. It's that simple. The other thing you can do.. is Percussi've Maintenance. Meaning.... Hold the Zen Touch in one hand (back facing you)2. Use the other hand to give it a nice firm whack on the back.3. Restart player using paperclip4. Wait5. It should work now!If you don't believe me.. than go hereNow if that <EM>still</EM> doesn't work. Than contact Tech Support, and if you email them, they will email you back something like this:

Just to add something creative replaced my touch a few weeks ago and it was chipped by the ac adapter. When I say chipped I mean like a noticeable piece was missing so people shouldn't think scratches and other accidents means you'll have to pay for repairs automatically. In case anyone is wondering i keep my zen in my pocket and stuff in there scratches it up but the chip was I accidently dropped it on some dirt.

• Zen Touch Froz

Hi, I've had my Zen Touch for a few months now and it was great, but now lately, everytime I try to turn it on and pick a song, it freezes and i'd have to reset it, but now I can't to listen to any songs on it nor can I connect it to my computer, is there a solution to this?
Thanks

Have you tried to do a clean up from the rescue mode? This will rebuild the library. See the Rescue Mode posting at the top of the forum for instructions.

• Having Trouble with Creative Zen Touch 20G

Hey everybody. I bought me a 20G Creative Zen Touch (you know, the one where the scroll thing is in the middle of the player, vertically?). Anyway, i bought it a couple of weeks ago and it's pretty **bleep** cool. No problems with it.....until today. I was watering the lawn, listening to my music (no, it didn't get wet), when all of a sudden it stopped working all together. Well, at first i saw some "Voice Recording" thing i had never seen before and no matter what i pushed, nothing happened. I couldn't even turn it off. I tapped it on the side, then it began working again. I decided to shut it off and put it in my room. Later when i went back to it,it wouldn't turn back on at all!!! Even though it's battery was charged, i decided to plug it into the charger where, once i plugged it in, i got a screen that said:
<EM>"CREATIVE ZEN</EM>
<EM>Copyright (c) 2004</EM>
<EM>Creative Technology Ltd.</EM>
<EM>All Rights Reserved"</EM>
And thats how it is currently: Nothing at all happens when it's disconnected from the charger and i try to turn it on. When connected to the charger, i get said screen, but thats it. No music, not even the blue backlight or the blue blinking light on the power button indicating that it's charging. :smileyindifferent:
Can someone tell me what's going on/how to fix this? We have been getting unbelievably hot weather here in So. Cal and i have the feeling that the hot temperature may have something to do with this. I've tried keeping the player in the coolest place in the house (besides the freezer) which would be near a fan so it could be in a cooler place, but even leaving it in such place for a couple hours isn't helping me.

Hey buddy
same problem with me. The zen got little moist due to rain, after that it froze at the 'Creative screen' that too comes on when i connect it to charger. I disconnected the battery, it worked for a while but it is back to same position now. It dosent responds to resetting pin... nothing happens it is dead. Only when i disconnect battey and connect charger ... give it a big whack it works for a while then hangs again.
Still trying my stuff on it. Otherwise i will format it and reload the firmware later on.
if u get any solution let me know on [email protected]][email protected]
thankx

• Creative MP3 Players (Especially ZEN Touch 2) durability: satisfied?

Hello,
I'm willing to buy a ZEN Touch 2, it look so amazing!
However, what I would like to know more: durability!
Is the ZEN Touch 2 (Or any other MP3 Player from Creative) durable enough?
I'll still have the year warrantee, but I'll need to ship it in the US, it'll need to be shipped at another adress in the US, and then shipped back to me (I'm in Canada).
That'll be a though job, you know.
My first MP3 , an Archos .5 Vision, died on me when it ran out of batteries for the first time; strangely, I reloaded it, and it had trouble booting.
My second and actual MP3, Archos 2 Vision, has brokens contacts in the headphone jack... -___-
Well, it still work, but it's really annoying.
If you are a ZEN Touch 2 owner, please give me your feedback!
Thanks you very much!

Hi Gamex I have a Zen Touch 2 with GPS in the UK. In the first 3 weeks, it froze 3 or 4 times, and then finally died when downloading the Creative update to Android 2.2. You need to be aware that Creative Tech Support seem not to have yet caught up with the fact that they have a new type of MP3 player, and all the Knowledgebase articles they will refer you to are not relevant, as they deal with the older hard dri've type of player. It took me all but a fortnight of shouting to get them to authorise its return for repair/replacement, which is where it is currently. In addition, if you're going for the GPS model, advertised as 8GB, be aware it's capacity for music etc is a mere 4.gb, and any apps you download will eat into that. The way round this is to buy a big micro SDHC card (I got a 32gb one) which integrates seamlessly into the player. You can opt to put the apps on there if you so wish. That's the bad bit; the good bit is that it looks and feels great, and the touchscreen, while not as responsi've as some, is more than acceptable, to me at least. The sound quality is not as good as some other Creative players, mainly due to the fairly low spec earbuds supplied. Get some good ones, and the sound is fine, although strangely there is no equalizer facility. The FM radio, with RDS, gives quite astonishing reception on the move. You can import playlists from Media Player, but there is no option for crossfading, so you get a fairly significant gap between tracks. There are a fair selection of apps available, including an antivirus one (I see you were asking elsewhere about that) but you cannot access Android market; apps are downloaded from the Ziio website. Battery life is obviously dependant on what you are doing; wifi and GPS use will inevitably eat power before your very eyes. Using it for music was giving me around hours (less than claimed). Video playback (which is also very good) brings that down to around 4 hours. Overall I would say I was a little dissapointed with it, but that said having been without it now for nearly 3 weeks I realise how much I want it back, so it can't be all bad! Hope this helps? Regards Mike F

• If I send my Zen Touch in to Creative, will they delete my da

Here's the story. I got a Zen Touch from my parents for Christmas, and I was thrilled. I put on about 9 GB of music in the first few weeks. Then, poof, it freezes my computer when I try to connect to it. It was working fine the day before, and nothing special had happened, and I most certainly did not mistreat it. So I thought fine, I'll just try to figure it out later. Then, lo and behold, a few weeks after, it begins freezing. Every few minutes, it froze. Now, it freezes every few seconds. Firstly, a big thanks to Creative for spitting in my face. Secondly, my question now is: If I mail my Zen Touch to Creative, will they delete all the data on it, because I don't have a backup copy. If anyone could tell me from experience that this will not happen I'd be delighted, because there's over 2500 mp3's on it and they're rather important to me. Thankns.

I'm not surprised, darkone. We have an affinity for those who are like us. Additionally, the fact that they've sold millions of players is irrelevant. Have you ever heard of the medecine that many pregnant women took a few decades ago to relieve pain during pregancy, and then their babies were deformed or mentally handicapped? The number of units sold is not important. A million mothers took the drug, a million mothers had deformed babies.
Anyways, seeing as we can't stay on topic, and the question's been answered, lock this thread, please.

• Firmware Problem on my zen touch....PLEASE HELP ME

Hi, I have had my zen touch for over a year now, works great. Recently I tried to up grade the firmware to ZenTouchP4S_PCFW_LB_2__0.exe While installing it erased the whole music plus the previous firmware. So when installing it froze an now my player starts in recovery mode an its in v0.0.0. When I try to upload the new firmware it tells me to connect my player, but its already connected. Nothing wrong with my usb cord so I am lost, can anyone help me resolve this problem so I can listen to my music again.....thanks.

I finally got it. I had to uninstall and reinstall the zen touch, windows 0, an the media source from the installation disc. After that when i plugged the player in it stayed in the recovery mode, before it would say docked an have that lil music note screen on. So i went to device manager on my comp an looked up the zen touch, it said error code 0. I followed the on screen instructions from my comp. It said to right click an uninstall then go to add hardware, an it searched for devices plugged in an BAM! A lil screen poopped up an said zen touch player detected......So i hurried an installed the new firmware an everything is ok now. So anyone havin the same problem follow these somewhat clear instructions. Thanks.

• Zen Touch is recognized, but

Here's the deal: a while ago, my parents gave me a laptop because I just graduated. This laptop has Win Vista. At first, I didn't have my own computer at all, so I used my dad's Win XP computer to transfer music to my Zen Touch. When I got this laptop, I decided to upgrade the firmware of my player, so I could use my own laptop for the music transfer. I backed up all my music (on my dad's computer) and updated the firmware (which worked perfectly - after 3 days of trying). First, I checked if it worked on my Vista laptop, which it did. I synced the player with WMP and transferred one album to the player. This all worked. Then I got back to my dad's computer, with my back-u
ps.
I downloaded Creative Media Source 5 (I find this much handier then synchronizing with WMP, which also worked on the XP computer) with the plugin for the latest firmware and started to restore the music on my player. It worked fine. Untill I got halfway. The first half was perfectly transferred, but suddenly CMS wasn't responding anymore. I thought that this might be one-time thing, so I rebooted the computer and restarted CMS. CMS recognized the player, so I thought I was right. I continued on where I stopped last time, but again CMS wasn't responding. The first song I want to transfer rushes to 90%, but then the whole program gets stuck. But, this is not a real problem as we still have WMP to sync with the player. However, WMP suddenly wouldn't recognize my player anymore!! At first, WMP did for sure. Then I got to solution number 3. Put all the backed up music from my dad's computer that still hasn't been transferred on an external hd, and copy it to the Vista laptop. Sounds great, although WMP on the laptop also doesn't recognize the Zen anymore. After this, I retried it via CMS for at least a dozen times, but always the same. CMS recognizes the player, but always gets stuck when the song reaches 90%. I even tried to transfer the songs in a different order then before, but whatever I do, it keeps getting stuck. I preformed a disk clean on the player, I reinstalled CMS and the drivers on the computer, but nothing seems to work. The player itself works perfectly. I can listen to the songs that ARE on it, I can reload the battery, everything. Just not transferring, while I could do that before with the new firmware. And this is a shame, as my best albums are in the second half, so not yet on the player Anybody has an idea of how to solve this problem

Try re-booting ur comp lol. The same thing happened 2 mine but i kept disconnecting it and connecting again so it just froze, i had 2 run it down over night =/. Hope that helped =).

• Zen Touch is de

Hi. I've had my 20 GB Zen Touch for a year, and I've had problem after problem, all of which I've dealt with. However, now I'm totally stumped. One day, I just tried to turn it on, and nothing came up on the screen. However, the light on the power button is on. So basically, it won't turn on anymore because it's somehow frozen or something. Now, my initial thought was to wait for the battery to run out, and then recharge it. However, this happened 2 days ago, and I'm still in the same situation. It may run out if I wait a little longer, but it doesn't look like it. I've tried resetting it, but it does nothing. Pressing any of the buttons does nothing. It won't connect to my computer either. If anyone has any advice I'd be grateful.

Mostly the same problem here:
Bought the unit (Zen Touch 40gb), loaded the MP3's today, unit froze up about 30 minutes of play time. Unit was not dropped or mishandled in any way. Unresponsi've, seems like it's hung up in the middle of the song. Will not respond to power cable or software (via USB cable).
I'm supposed to give this to my girlfriend for a Christmas gift in an hour, now I have to explain what happened
