Zen Touch playlists with MediaSource &

I have a zen touch w/ the updated firmware, and i just updated all the software.. the mediasource suite?
anyhow, I've been using windows media player to sync my zen touch. I just autosynced them on WMP, and it worked just dandy. however, i just downloaded the mediasource suite thing, and none of the playlists that are on my zen touch appear when i look at the zen touch media explorer. is there any way to access them?
The reason why this matters to me is because i'd like to be able to transfer songs from my zen touch to another comp some time and the zen touch media explorer has that feature. and it'd be infinitely easier to do it via playlist than song by song. especially since windows media player organized all the songs into separate folders by artist.
I did look for this question on the forums before i posted, but i didn't see a clear answer.Message Edited by erink02 on -28-2005 0:22 AM

The playlists appear correctly on the player right? If so then this could be a problem with Zen Media Explorer itself, not sure of a fix hopefully someone does.
As for getting songs off your player in that structure (Artist\Album\song_title.mp3) then you can use Windows Explorer/My Computer. Open that up and you should see your player listed, you can then highlight, copy, and paste it onto your computer. Playlists are not recognized in Windows Explorer so you will have a problem with that.

  • Zen Touch problems with WMP

Found a way to get round this apparent problem which i have been experiancing for some weeks now.
No matter what way i loaded or connected the touch WMP0 couldnt recognise the player to allow me to sync my library to the player. It used to work ok, but stopped all of a sudden. Of course Mediasource works grand, but i think people's problems actually getting the touch to be recognised in windows and docked at all stems from this problem.
Anyway, plugging the touch in with mediasource loaded will detect and dock the player ok, but any attempt to load and use WMP0 simply crashes everthing.
The process 'CTPdeSrv.exe' runs when the player is plugged in automatically, but this is what is causing a lock up if you use WMP0.
Simply stop the process in task manager and load WMP0. The touch will be recognised, and be ready to sync.
I can't understand why this process is now causing problems with WMP0 as it used to work ok, but this seems a decent way of getting round this problem until new firmware is released.

I use WMP0 quite alot for my uploading. I tried MediaSource, but to find that my Zen Touch came up with 'Playback Error'! I also have a Zen NX as well. They both work fine with WMP0. If you are having trouble, Start WMP0, plug in the Zen Touch, Goto Sync. If it's not there. Goto 'Now Playing', wait a minute, return to 'Sync' and Refresh the screen (F5). This works for me when switching between Players.

  • Problem with Zen Touch Playlists Resol

With the help of Jean-Francois, a colleague of my husband's, I figured out the problem I was having with putting playlists on my Zen Touch MP3 player in the order in which I wanted them to play, and it's a simple solution but one I thought I'd pass on to others in case anyone else runs into this problem:
Simply put, when you make playlists, have your MP3 player docked with your computer, and make sure that in the MediaSource Organizer program, the player is highlighted (well, it's a gray bar) when you start making the playlist. Then start with "new playlist," give it a name and enter the songs you want in the order you want as usual. What you're doing is actually building the playlist in the player rather than in the MediaSource Organizer, and the playlist will be created as you want it to be.
If, like me, you then want to transfer the playlist to your computer program, you'll find that it will turn up on the 'puter in alphabetical order (the problem I was having with the Zen Touch player); but it's a simple matter to click'n'drag the songs around until they're in the order you want - and, as far as I can tell, they will stay in that order once you've moved them.
So, problem solved - would have been nice if the User's Guide specifically said "you must dock your Zen Touch player to the computer while making playlists if you want the playlist to be in the proper order on your player," but we figured it out.....

Ok, so i plugged my zen touch into my pc yesterday to transfer files (rmvb) to my lappy, but it wouldn't work. so i updated all the software and now the pc recognizes the zen, but the programs (nomad, organizer) won't recognize it. so i used my laptop and it works fine except that it still won't transfer rmvb files. oh, it used to be able to transfer my rmvb files before this. i'm using windows xp. so i'm assuming that this is not a problem with my lappy or my pc... and it's a problem with the actual mp3. oh by the way, besides trying to fix the rmvb file transfer,
Data files are often a problem with the player. It sounds like you've tried pretty much everything you can short of a disk cleanup from rescue mode.
Failing this you could try formatting the player in case something has become corrupted. Of course make sure to backup the player first.
Also there's lots of advice via the "PC connection problems with your player" link in the FAQ post.

  • Zen Touch Playlist Quer

    Hi
Im just about to think about playing with playlists on my Zen Touch 20GB, couple of things though please...
Firstly, do playlists take up much space on your players hard disk at all? Also does the space it takes up differ greatly between a playlist with 0 tracks and a playlist with 9000 tracks?
Secondly, is there a limit to the number of tracks you can have in a single playlist?
Lastly, is there a limit to the number of playlists you can store on your player?
Ooo, also lastly, Is it better to make the playlist in Mediasource and then copy it across or just do it on the player?
    Thanks a load folks

Certainly nothing significant, don't worry about it.
Secondly, is there a limit to the number of tracks you can have in a single playlist?
I believe there is, but it's pretty vast and very rare to encounter.
Lastly, is there a limit to the number of playlists you can store on your player?
Again I believe there is and it's one of those classic powers of 2 e.g. 256. Again, more than enough for normal use.
Ooo, also lastly, Is it better to make the playlist in Mediasource and then copy it across or just do it on the player?
Personally I ALWAYS use the software, just comes down to personal preference though.

  • Zen Touch Playlist Prob

I JUST got my Touch today, so I am still new to it all. I have updated the Dri'ves, the Firmware to the latest(2.) and the MediaSource to 3.30 with the newest plugins. Now, I am trying to create some play list. I create one that is of a CD, and it transfered the files over nicely. BTW, I am doing this in MediaSource. Then, I went to create a new play list. The one was a mix of about 64 songs, and contianed a few from the CD I had already made. When it transfered over the song to the player, it did not add the songs from the CD already on the player into the play list. So, how do I had a song to a playlist if it is already on the Zen, in another play list, and in another folder? Dragin and droping dose not work, becuase it tries to upload the file. I just want to add the songs back into the play list.

Well, I figure it out. If I try to add a file to a play list, off of the computer hard dri've, it will try to add it AND upload. If it is already on the Zen Touch, it will not upload or add to the play list. So, I had to had the song to the play list by draging it from the Zen Touch, not the computer. That would be something nice to have fixed on the MediaSource software. If you try to add a song to a play list and it is already loaded onthe MP3 player, add it to the play list, not fail to upload and not add.

  • Zen Touch help with Mediaorgani

Hi, I love my Zen and I have gotten many of my friends to turn down the short living ipods and my Zen is finally starting to have a problem. My MediaOrganizer and Nomad Explorer can't read my Zen anymore. I have downloaded the firmware, driver, and apps updates but nothing works. I filled up my Zen in early December, and I saw the new firmware, downloaded it, and it cleaned my Zen dry. Problems began occuring late December and January when I couldn't rename files using both of those programs. In my zen, i have files with wrong names now, or just "Track 0" and I can't change it like I used to. I need help, if it helps, im using windows XP, home edition. Any advice would greatly help

    BMAN2688,
If you have updated the player firmware to 2..0, Nomad Explorer wouldn't be compatible with it anymore. Go to the website and download the latest version 3.30.2 of MediaSource and also Creative Software Suite for PlaysForSure-enabled Creative Zen Touch Players (43.44 MB), Install both of these and you should be able to interact the player with MediaSource.

  • Zen Touch users (and possibly non Zen Touch users) with Firmware issues click he

i just got back from the mall.i visited the electroworld branch from which i purchased my zen. i explained to them what my problem is, at first they recharged the player in a usb port in front of me...then they also reformatted it too...told me to stick to the firmware that came with the product..the player responded and thanked them..but hr later, it blacked out again..i came back to the store manager showed him my zen ( he couldnt deny it doesnt have a problem ) and within minutes told me...they are going to give me a replacement. (the diagnosis was AUTO-OFF). they did and im very thankful. right now im charging the new player and hoping...i mean really hoping that this zen works. because im not going to waste my time again even with that warranty. if this zen is defecti've, im gonna li've with its defect..but im going to save up for the fruit's company in my next purchase..better yet why not a new pda...i can play [size="+2"]ZEN TOUCH USERS (and possibly non Zen Touch users)!!!
    OH MY GOD
!!! I can't believe it, but after at least 5 hours of troubleshooting, I got it to work!!
I don't know if all of these steps are necessary or not, but this is what I did in approximately this order (I'm so excited now, I'm not even sure if this is the exact order, but I'm almost positi've this is how I did it verbatim). I really, truly hope this works for everyone else.:
    ON YOUR ZEN TOUCH:
.) Don't connect device to USB yet
    2.) Clean Disk
    3.) Format Disk
*Don't bother with restart firmware or reboot; these options are useless.
    ON YOUR PC:
.) Do NOT connect device to USB yet.
2.) I did what everyone suggested and rolled my Windows Media Player to v0 (using Add/Remove programs in Control Panel), made sure I had SP2, had the latest drivers, blah blah blah. I'm not sure if this is necessary, but I also uninstalled my Firefox WMP plugin just to be safe. :smileyindifferent:
3.) I un-installed (using Add/Remove programs in Control Panel) and re-installed my Zen Touch drivers, both my 2.0.00 and .30.03 (.30.03 is needed ONLY if you have XP Pro 64-bit edition). I'm not sure if re-installing the drivers is even necessary, but just to be safe, let's say it is. :smileyvery-happy:
    ---THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART!---
4.) I plugged my device into my USB port. When it prompts you whether you want to Sync the device with Windows Media Player or Take No Action, don't ignore it and close out. SYNC IT! I made the mistake of thinking that because my firmware was corrupted and my drivers weren't recognizing my Zen Touch as nothing more than a worthless hard dri've that there was no way it would sync with WMP. IT DOES
!!! I don't know how but it freakin' does!
5.) Open up your firmware update file and try to update again. Mine worked immediately and updated the player within seconds!
NOTE: As mentioned on Creative's Support page, probably the only thing they were right about, your device will no longer be compatible with MediaSource. If you want to add music, you have to do it with Windows Media Player 0's Sync page now. And for the love of god, don't update Windows Media Player! It's not worth it! Winamp is way better anyways!
Good luck everyone! I sincerely mean that. :manhappy:
Message Edited by invisiblephrend on 06-07-2008 :32 PMusic files in it, watch movies, save medical books etc..

I also strongly recommend that when Windows Media Player asks you whether you want to sync automatically or manually to choose the manual option. Automatic just randomly grabs music files and could likely add?music you don't want on your device.

  • Zen Touch - Problems with touch

I have troubles with my touch pad. When I scroll, the marker keep scrolling after I let go of the touch pad. My Zen Touch is only day old!
    Anyone?

When you hold the bottom or top of the touchpad it will automatically skip to the bottom of your playlist. Try not to hold you finger there and just run it through the pad. Don't linger in those places to long or it will skip.

  • Creative Zen touch Playlist Problem - H

I've had problems with the software on my creative zen touch 20gb since i've had it. All i want to do is learn to creat a playlist of all my favourite tracks. Because of the software problems i've had (and i've tried everything to fix it) the only program it will let me use to synch files is Windows Media Player. I've read all the instructions about how to create a playlist but none of them apply to windows media player. Does anyone know how to create a playlist using the media player. the version i have of the zen touch is 2..0.

Yeah it synch's ok. I can transfer music over no problem, but the difficulty comes in creating a playlist. Say for arguments sake i had 0 albums on my mp3 player. I might want to take individual tracks from each album and put them into a playlist. I cant seem to do that with windows media player.

  • Zen Touch: problem with touch pad and formatt

    Hi guys!
I have a Zen Touch 20gb but I'm experiencing big problems with my touch pad: it really doesn't work fine, precision is almost none, to poit the desired voice in any menu I have to work hard. If the menu is longer it is almost impossible to navigate it with precision. I can't move of a single position, it jumps at least two... Is it a common problem or should I take it to be checked up?
    2nd problem:
I was trying to format the player's HD. Instructions said press play botton and contemporarly reset hole.
But nothing happens. When I release the system reboots.
    Any idea?
    Thanx!
    Gp

Please be patient with the touch pad. Reading these boards, I think a lot of people are not really understanding how the touch pad works and assuming it's defecti've and returning the Touch. First, set the sensitivity to where it's best for you. If you can't move only one line at a time, you may have it set too sensiti've. Second, use your index finger, not your thumb. Then, practice moving around. For me, it was really easy to move rapidly through the choices or to move just one line at a time. But moving at medium speed always tripped me up, until I figured out the technique of repeatedly stroking the touch pad through the slow zone to move several lines at a time, just like you were using a scroll wheel.

  • Is Belkin TuneDok Zen Touch compatible with MICRO Z

    TUNEDOK ZEN TOUCH
    Is compatible with MICRO ZEN?
Any product similiar compatible with Micro Zen?
(((thnxs, sorry by my english, i'm spanish)))

I'm guessing the size of the player is pretty critical, hence it's not suitable. I'm not aware of anything similar for the Micro, but I guess it's possible there is something.

please can you help. i am not to happy with the zen touch computer program and would like to know how to fix this problem.
    thank you for your help

I wonder if there are problems here associated with the use of the zen touch on SP2 machines. Interestingly I cannot transfer music from my PC to my Zen 20gb on a SP2 machine but I can do so on my sisters machine which has got SP. Obviously having the lastest firmware is a good idea though but I believe there are issues associated with SP2 and as you say you have all the latest updates to windows perhaps the problem lies there. Sorry if this doesn't help you at all

  • Export ZEN TOUCH playlist to I

Help!?I have a Zen Touch and my wife just got an iPod (not my choice!)? Naturally, we are sharing music - she uses iTunes and I use Media Source. I cannot figure out how to share playlists. As I understand it, the Zen playlists are zpl files - and there doesn't seem to be a way to?export to ?m3u playlists - or any playlist iTunes will recognize. Anyone have any ideas on how I can export my playlists to my wife's ipod? Thanks!?CMV

I would suggest you make playlists directly on your Touch, unless there's a good reason not to.

  • Is the Zen Touch Compatible with Yahoo Music Unlimite

i'm hoping to sign up for what looks like a pretty decent service at an acceptable price point. however i don't see the zen touch (mine is 20gb) on the list of compatible 'windows plays for sure' devices. i know the micro is.

It's just a marketing <strike>scam</strike> scheme by Creative to force you to upgrade to the Zen Micro, or the upcoming Creative Zen 20GB.
First they tell us an update for Xtra & Touch by 2nd quarter? Then delay it until god knows when... disappointing really

  • Zen Touch Playlist From Compu

I couldn't find anything on this in the FAQ that was definiti've--so here is my question....is the only way to transfer a playlist from a computer by using Creative Mediasource? I can't get WMP0 to work, nor the new Yahoo Music Engine (which works great in every other respect, by the way).
I would love to have the Janus DRM firmware upgrade promised since last fall, but for now even synchronization capability with WMP0 or Yahoo Music Engine (I think if one works, so does the other) would be fine. I am beginning to wonder whether they are ever going to fix this player. I only bought it because they announced LAST SUMMER that the Touch would support Janus DRM.
Anyhow, my real question at this point involves playlists. I don't like to put them on the player directly, as I like to be able to move the order around, etc. and can't figure out how to do this on the player itself. Besides, I find it far easier to pick out tracks on the computer. Thanks.

It's certainly easier?to create and edit playlists via the PC, using any of the software that can do this e.g. MediaSource, and even easier with the?excellent shareware Notmad Explorer.
