Zen Touch Quick Quest

When you find the album and start playing it, after the first song ends it jumps around instead of going to the second song on the album. Can this be fixed?

If it skips around the album, most likely you have shuffle enabled, either by personal preference, or because you hit the random button on the front at some point in time.
To stop this:
Push the MENU button on the front</LI>
Scroll down to Play Mode</LI>
Push OK or tap the pad</LI>
Highlight "Normal" or "Repeat All" and push OK or tap the pad</LI>
"Normal" plays the album sequentially, once.
"Repeat All" starts from the beginning of the album when it finishes the last song.

    Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find any info. Are there any plans to make the Zen Touch 40g compatible with Yahoo Unlimited? The creative rep at the store told me it was but I soon found out that wasn't true. I based my purchase on compatibilty with unlimited services and will want to return my ZT if there are no plans to make it compatible. Thanks.

    Sleepy,
    Perhaps you should also read the section at the top that states that this is a user interaction board. If you are looking for official answers then contacting support directly would be the best way to do this. The previous answer stating that you should use the search feature is actually not a bad suggestion, if perhaps a bit harsh.
    Doing a quick comparison I see that LSD_User has 50+ posts, most of them constructi've. Not exactly the kind of stats that a board troll would have. Now someone with around 2 posts who goes hostile on their 2nd one....
    Although this really isn't the best place for official answers (that would be contacting support directly) I do happen to know so I will help you out on this. The Zen Touch does not currently support subscription services; however there will be a plays for sure firmware released in the near future that will allow this to work with it. It will currently work with purchased tracks, but not subscription tracks.
    Since there is nothing else to say, thread closed.

  • Zen Touch Menu Quest

    My question is the following, does?the Zen Touch?let you choose to browse all tracks of an Artist, or must you browse by album?
    And is there a way that you can just choose the Artist you want, then browse all the artists tracks?Thank You.

    Try "menu"..."Music Library"....."Artists".."scroll to the artist you want"...."view tracks" . Is this what you wanted to do? All the tracks show up for me when I do this.

  • Zen Touch Battery Quest

    when i first bought my zen touch, i started loading songs on it through theusb port because i was told that the usb also charges the battery, but i didnot realize that the usb only charges the battery when the player is turnedoff, so when i loaded my first batch of music onto my player the battery wasnot charging like i thought, so i kept going back and forth from the acadaptor to the usb just to make sure the player was working and to load somemusic onto the player and listen to it to make sure it worked correctly,then i realized i had to fully charge the battery before i could really useit. so after doing all this i decided to just charge the battery fullythrough the ac adaptor before loading anymore music and playing any moremusic on my zen touch. i hope by starting off like this that i didnt do anydamage to the battery or shorten the life of it between charges because ididnt fully charge it at first before doing any transfering and playing ofmusic. please tell me there is no possiblity of ruining the battery life percharge or overall by doing what i did.thank you

    It's hard to know for sure. I even contacted the author of BatteryUni'versity.com to ask about initial charging, and he was unsure as to whether it really makes any difference. So the general school of thought at the moment is that an initial charge certainly doesn't do any harm, so it might as well be done (you'll see some manuals even recommending three complete charges and discharges).

  • Zen Touch - HD Quest

    I've had a Zen Touch whcih recently got put into a bucket of water by my darling daughter, and i didn't find out for a 'few days'... i've dried it out etc and all appears to work fine, apart form the hard disk, whcih has 'a problem' I'm guessing something to do with the previously mentioned total submersion. Soooooooo?Does anyone know:?Anywhere that sells the Hard dri'ves for theseIf there are any other Hard Dri'ves that are compatible with it (Is it just the 20 & 40 gig Hitachi Travelstars I'm looking at?)Or the best place to pick up broken Zens, they seem to be few and far between on?ebay. Ideally i'd like one fairly cheap in case it's not just the dri've that is fried - happy to pay more if it fixes it, but don't want to pay loads for it, then have to buy anew player anyways... Thanks

    Hi Toby - I had to purchase a new hard dri've for my 40GB Zen. I took the hard dri've out and punched the part number into it under Google and found place that had them in stock. It was 98.00 I believe.

  • Zen Touch simple quest

    Hello.
    I've just bought a Zen Touch and after 4 hours charging it the blue led of the power button stopped blinking and the battery icon on the display stopped showing. Is that OK?
    The manual says we should see if the battery is fully charged by checking the battery icon.
    Thanks in advance.
    Murilo

    Actually I think it trickle charges for another 30 minutes, so to get the top performance from the battery you might want to leave it another 30 minutes (Creative, can you confirm this?).
    More battery advice here.

  • Zen Touch RMA Quest

    Hey y'all. I had to RMA my 20G Touch because of a failed battery. When I checked the RMA status today, I saw that Creative has shipped it back to me. In the Replacement Part section there was this notification: ASSY,PF0990 MAIN 20GB-8.
    Can anyone help me decode this? Will I be getting my old Zen back, with a new battery? Or should I be expecting a whole new replacement Zen? The replacement part serial number seems to have the same number of digits (and in the same format if not the same letters) as the Zen's. Anyone have a clue?
    Mods?

    Cat,
    Thanks for the help, but unfortunately, that was my first shot (emailing support to check). Even though I explained that I saw the product had shipped back but without the product having been tested, and asked the same specific questions I'd asked in this thread, Customer Support simply reiterated that the product had shipped. They did not address any of the questions I'd actually asked. I've another email in to them, but at this point I imagine I'll know in a day or so anyway.

  • Possible problem with Zen Micro, quick questi

    The top button on my Micro, the Play/Pause touch button, is quite a bit brighter than the other 5 buttons and the glowing ring around the edge of the player. They're fairly dim in comparison. The play button is pretty bright. Is this normal? Also, the player is plugged into the system and idle with the USB cable as I type this, and all the neon is slowly dimming in and out... is this normal too?

    All normal,
    rather funky isn't it's
    If you peer into the ZenMicro from above the display, while on, you can see the 3 LED's. The center one is very close to the Play/Pause button so is very bright. The pulsing is to show it is charging.

  • Easy Zen Touch hd quest

    In the information menu my zens hd shows at 9056mbs
    Is it the Go to Gb thing?
    Or am I missing a gb somewhere?

    Nevermind found the ansxer:
    The main difference is due to the way hard disk manufacturers report hard disk sizes differently to operating systems (OS). The manufacturers use 000 bytes per kilobyte, whereas OS's use 024 bytes per kilobyte. The following list gives various hard disk sizes (in Gigabytes), and how they would appear if competely empty (Manufacturer vs. OS):
    6 = 5.859375
    0 = 9.765625
    20 = 9.5325
    30 = 29.296875
    40 = 39.0625
    60 = 58.59375
    80 = 78.25
    Note that some disk space is also used for the Nomad OS and music library so may not match these values exactly.

  • ZEN TOUCH - NEWBIW JUST BOUGHT ONE - A FEW QUESTI

    As a novice, I have just bought a Zen Touch, I am transfering my CD collection via Media Player 9 which is taking forever, when I access the Creative Media Source Organiser, I noticed that some of my tracks have blue padlocks next to them, why is this? what is it for? and why do some have and some not.
    Is there a quicker way of transferring my CD's?
    And does anyone have the problem of not being able to upload any songs to the Zen? There is over 7GB left and I can't get it to upload anything, although I know that the cable and the USB port is working well.

    Those are protected files with the padlock.
    You will get the same thing if you download tracks from Napster, iTunes or whoever else.
    You are not legally allowed to transfer those files (except in Europe and then only for a back-up) anywhere.

    If you have the driver installed on your PC, WMP0 should recognize your Zen Touch as a device (you can see this in the "sync" tab). I would suggest having the Zen Touch connected to AC power when you have it connected to the PC because otherwise the battery drains rather quickly.
    When you insert a CD, the tracks will show up on the "RIP" tab of WMP0. You can edit the track information to your liking and then click on the "Rip Music" button on the upper right. You can also edit the track information after a CD is ripped - you do this by going to the "Library" tab and then right click on the track you want to edit and select "Advanced Tag Editor" on the pop up menu. Also from the main menu of WMP0 you can select "Tools" --> "options." Here go to the "Rip Music" tab to select how you want your music ripped (bitrate, format mp3 or WMA, etc.). While you are at it, check out the other tabs, particulary the "library" tab for the options you want.
    Steps to transfer songs: . Go to the library tab. 2. on the "Library Options" button drop down, make sure "Show List" is checked - this will display a panel on the right hand side. 3. On this new panel on the right, there is a drop down at the top where you select "sync list" (default is "Now Playing List"). 4. Now drag and drop the songs/albums you want from the library to the "sync list" panel (you can also clear the list by selecting "clear list" from the button drop down at the top of this panel). 5. Click the "start sync" button at the bottom right. 6. You can see the progress in the "sync" tab. 7. Once the sync is done, you can see what is on the Zen Touch by browsing on the right hand panel of the "sync" tab.
    Final note: I do not recommend using the automated sync from WMP0. This is meant for MTP/PlaysForSure enable devices so won't work (well) with the Touch.

  • Quick tutorial-- replacing Zen Touch hard dr

    I got the "click of death" last week on my 40GB Zen Touch and the "hard disk error" message. I tried slapping the player to unjam the HD, but that didn't work. When I called Creative, they told me it would be $79 to repair. Through doing a little research, I was able to replace the HD for $57. Here's how I did it:
    <FONT color=#ff0000 size=2>Disclaimer: please don't try this unless your warranty is expired!
    ) Purchased a HITACHI Travelstar C4K60 hard dri've on ebay for $57 (shipping included). The model number on the one I got is HTC426040G9AT00. This is not the same exact dri've that came with the player, but it is the same brand. From what I gather, they key is to get a dri've that's
    a) .8 inches (not 2.5)
    b) 4200 RPM
    c) Hitachi brand, as there's no uni'versal form factor. You need to get a Hitachi to be sure it will fit in your Zen.
    I think any Hitachi 4200 RPM, .8" dri've should work. Unfortunately, there aren't a ton of these available on ebay. They're mostly about $90+ off ebay.
    2) Followed these instructions for opening up the Zen.
    http://www.stainlesssteelrat.net/Pictures/20050520/Touch.mht
    By far, the hardest part of this was unscrewing the little screws. Be sure to get the right sized screwdriver because it's easy to strip the screws. They screws are in there tight and are a pain to get out.
    3) Pulled out the old dri've, put in the new one. Pretty self explanatory once you've opened it up following the site above. I used a small screwdriver to gently pry the old dri've off as it's in there pretty tight.
    4) Put the player back together. Note, the touchpad won't work well unless all the screws are in fairly tight, so be sure to do that.
    5) Start up player. The menu should come up giving you four options, Clean Up, Format All, Reload OS, and Reboot. Run Format All. It should just take a few seconds.
    6) Install firmware. Download it from here, http://www.nomadworld.com/language.asp?sDestUrl=/support/downloads. Run the .exe file with your Zen plugged into the USB on your computer. From there you should just have to follow the prompts.
    You player should now be back in working order and you can now reload your music. Hopefully you backed it up. :-)
    I would estimate this took me 3 hours of work, 2 hours of which were spent trying to unscrew those darn screws! Well worth the $22 I saved. The process wasn't very complicated at all and takes very little techinical knowledge. I hope this helps others as this seems to be a common problem. Thanks to whoever made that guide to opening the Zen, you saved me a lot of money!

    Bump, nice post Bertt and I'm happy very happy you took the time to post your success story. Unfortunatly the link is down for me at the moment, I tried a quick google search for "Opening a Zen Touch" but didn't find anything useful. Their is still valuable HD info that everyone should take a look at.
    Also I agree with your comment that replacing a HD doesn't take much tech understanding, especially a direct replacement. You just have to put everything back the way it was when you opened it. So good luck for all you who try to save yourselves a good amount of $$ (I dont think you even including S/H in the price you listed.)

  • Zen Touch Car Charger Usage Questi

    ]Hi, I have the Zen Touch and plan on using it mostly in the car. ?All
    of my MP3's are at 92kbps and I have the volume set fairly high. ?I
    don't want to worry about the Zen's battery running out, so I have
    purchased the official car charger (DC through the cigarette lighter)
    from Creative. ?
    I am wondering if it will be ok to have the car charger plugged in all
    the time, both when I am using the Zen and when it is just sitting in
    the car, turned off. ?Or, shoulld I just charge it when it needs it's
    Is there any real chance of damaging the Zen if I leave the car
    charger plugged in most of the time?
    TIA.

    for most lithium batteries it isnt useful to continusly charge them. I coulnt find an article I read that talks about batteries anyhow this might help

  • USB 1.1 & Protected WMA on Zen Touch quest

    Im thinkin about getting a Zen Touch and i have a couple of questions.
    The first im sure i can get an easy yes to, does zen touch support usb .
    The second however, is a question that i often find avoided on sites and put in fine print.
    Many companies advertise supporting WMA format, but not the <EM>protected</EM> WMA format that music stores such as Musicmatch sell.
    My question obviously, is does the Zen Touch player support protected WMA files that i download from Musicmatch?
    Thanks
    p.s. Does the Zen Touch have a "shuffle" feature like on the iPod that shuffles all the music or just the music on your playlist?Message Edited by JKORCA on 03-08-2005 0:39 PM

    'Yes' to all three questions:
    USB . compatible - yes.
    Can play WMA protected DRM - fairly certain it does, but I've never used it myself - anyone want to confirm?
    Shuffle all - yes - there's a button the front labelled 'random' which shuffles all the tracks on the player.

  • Two Zen Touch Questi

    Is there a firmware upgrade available for the Touch that allows for access to its hard dri've via My Computer through a removable dri've? If not, will there be?
    How much does the remote with the FM tuner cost for this model?

    I don't understand all the comments regarding dri've letter access. Is this driverless access so you could move files around from computer to computer? If not, then I really don't see the disadvantage of using Nomad Explorer. My Zen Touch shows up in Windows Explorer as "Nomad Explorer". If I wanted to copy files to it, I can (I don't). In my experience, using Windows Explorer for music files leads to a really screwed up stucture on the player with corrupted track numbers, etc..
    I also did not see any CNet article promising dri've letter access, but since it is not important to me at all, perhaps I overlooked it. I DID see, however, an alleged Creative promise in "October" (assume that is now October 2005?) for MTP support and Janus DRM support.
    This support is what I was expecting in the recent firmware upgrade, which must have been pretty technical as I don't really notice any change in my player.
    Somebody said the font is smaller on the screen---I don't remember how big it was before, to be honest.
