Zen Touch touch pad --an observat

Did anyone notice that the highlighter seems to accelerate when the touch pad is used, and consequently more innacurate? I was toying with an Ipod one day and i noticed that its click wheel seems more intuiti've because the highlighter does not accelerate. However, you need to do more moving around on the click wheel, but it's more accurate. With the zen touch, I find myself only moving my thumb a short distance and the highlighter is sometimes all over the place. Perhaps creative could address this too in a future firmware upgrade, because the most recent has done minimal at most, and the touch pad still remains an issue for both new users and owners alike.

Hi eastern, I'm actually a bit confused as to what you mean by "highlighter". Could you elaborate?

  • Zen Touch Pad Sensitiv

i found this out in nomadness in their forum that if we put the sensitivity on high that there is better control and much less overshoting a song in which you desire. Gi've it a try and see what happens ? i think it was a great idea cause i never tried it before, i automatically put it on low because of other complaints in the forum but now high is much better.

I have a Zen Touch here and there's a definite difference between the three options. Check which part of the touchpad you're using aswell. On the Zen Touch (and Micro), the upper part (closest to the screen) is for fast scrolling up, the very bottom part is for fast scrolling down, the middle section of the touch pad is for normal scrolling up or down. If it's still too sensiti've on all settings, or doesn't respond properly, there may be a hardware fault (contact Support in that case).
Do you have the Zen Touch by the way, or the Zen Micro? The subject line indicates Zen Touch, but you posted in another Zen Micro thread before.

  • Touch Pad doesnt w

Im new here, basically I joined becaues my zen touch pad stopped working and I thought maybe someone on here might have some insight as to how serious of a problem I have. I got my touch pad for Christamas and about a month later the touch pad part of it stopped working. I can still turn it on and off, but I cant controll what songs I listen to because the touch pad doesnt work. I can press the random button and listen to music that way, so I know that the player still works, but the touchpad isnt working. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what was the solution.

    <FONT size=7>PEOPLE, PEOPLE, PEOPLE!
You all have the same problem, ok? The touch pad doesnt work. that means that you shouldnt trust Creative for mp3 players. They dont know what they are doing. They were doing fine with the little scroll joystick. that would last a long time. Scroll pads arent their speciality. Guys, you can just replace it and sell the new one for money to get a different mp3 player from a more reliable company. a company that lets you return you product for your money back. And Firmware updates only update the memory and performance of the player, not the touch pad. That is why the touch Pad doesnt work even if you use fimware upgrades. that is what i wantd to say!!!
    Peace Out!!!!

  • Zen Touch: problem with touch pad and formatt

    Hi guys!
I have a Zen Touch 20gb but I'm experiencing big problems with my touch pad: it really doesn't work fine, precision is almost none, to poit the desired voice in any menu I have to work hard. If the menu is longer it is almost impossible to navigate it with precision. I can't move of a single position, it jumps at least two... Is it a common problem or should I take it to be checked up?
    2nd problem:
I was trying to format the player's HD. Instructions said press play botton and contemporarly reset hole.
But nothing happens. When I release the system reboots.
    Any idea?
    Thanx!
    Gp

Please be patient with the touch pad. Reading these boards, I think a lot of people are not really understanding how the touch pad works and assuming it's defecti've and returning the Touch. First, set the sensitivity to where it's best for you. If you can't move only one line at a time, you may have it set too sensiti've. Second, use your index finger, not your thumb. Then, practice moving around. For me, it was really easy to move rapidly through the choices or to move just one line at a time. But moving at medium speed always tripped me up, until I figured out the technique of repeatedly stroking the touch pad through the slow zone to move several lines at a time, just like you were using a scroll wheel.

  • Zen Touch - Touch pad only goes do

    I have a Zen Touch 20Gb
Sometimes it freezes so I have to reboot it by pushing inside that little hole on the side. Is that ususal for this player? Should I accept it or should Creative fix it's
And the big problem is that I can only scroll downwards in the menues with the touchpad. When I try to do up with my fingers it still goes down. Has this happend to anyone of you?
I wonder if i am the only person who is dissapointed with this player because I only here good things from you on this forum.
Now I have to send it back from where I bought (I li've in sweden but I have to send it to france) and I have to pay for it. Not that funny. :-(

Some people that have previously posted here have had problems with the Touchpad and were able to fix it by exerting force on the touchpad on the bottom and the top until they here a quiet click. It may be that the Touch pad is simply loose. However, try it at your own risk.

  • Zen Touch Touch Pad Iss

I recently got a 20G Zen Touch a couple weeks ago. Now recently my touch pad is messing up. What happens is when I do the motion on the pad to go up on the menu, it goes down on the menu instead. When I do the motion on the pad to go down on the menu, it goes down. So basically its really hard to navigate since the only direction to go is down. I tried resetting the player numerous times and I installed the latest firmware. Any help for this?

I am having the same problem except I got mine on christmas of 2004 and it has worked perfectly until I dropped it on the dri'veway this afternoon then none of the buttons would respond... I reset it once and then all the buttons worked except... my touch pad is doing the exact same thing you described. Any information at all or anyone who has had a similiar problem please post. Also... in my time of owning my beloved Zen Touch... the warrenty sticker has come off so I doubt creative will accept it for repairs.... does anyone know any information as to where I can get this repaired? any information. It would greatly aid Maiden 75 and I.

  • Touch pad problem on Zen Visio

I have a Creative Zen Vision: M with a broken touch pad. I already did a research on this forum about how to fix it and none that works for me. I mean, first the tap touch is fine but up/down scrolling is not working. Then up/down scrolling comes back but tap touch stops working. I'm thinking this is a hardware problem. There is any other way to fix it's By the way, my Zen already out of the warranty period.
Is there anyway to just set it as a USB without using tap touch to set it's

  • Help, my touch pad has frozen on Zen Mi

    Hi there,
Help me please! The touchpad on my Zen Micro suddenly died. The player turns on and off and interfaces with my computer just fine, but the touch-pad does not respond. I can't reboot the device because I need the touchpad in order to select "reboot". How do I get the touchpad working again?
    Thanks.

You can try pressing the pad down to make sure it's fitted firmly. If this doesn't help then it sounds like the hardware has failed and you need to contact Creative Support.

  • Touch pad problem, zen mi

My creative zen micro had broken along time ago, since than I have bought a zen vision:m. and i am just revisiting it and i took it apart to realize that the reason it wasnt working was because the wire strip that connects the touch pad to whatever the wire strip leads to has come untaped/unglued or however they assembled it. i have tried to reattach using different tapes and things to try to reconnect it. nothing has really worked though, is there anything that i can do that will help me connect it. everything else is fine its just i turn it on and i cant go anywhere because the touch pad does not work. is there an alternate way to go thru menus or another way to connect it's thanks for the help if there is any...

    Gollum8,
There is warranty information on the CD that came with it. Also, if you go to the European creative page, click on support and then "warranty and returns" it will take you to a place where you can determine your exact warranty period. Since Amazon has a EU presence and the Zen Touch is sold on their page the European warranty period should be the one that applies. If you purchased it while in another region let me know and I will look it up for you.

  • Zen Touch Touch Pad Stopped work

Well I turned it on this morning and the touch pad wouldnt work. Ive had it just over a year so its out of warrenty. Anyone have any ideas on how to get it working again.

I've also discovered a problem with my Touch Pad. I've had my Zen Touch only a matter of days and the pad has become over sensiti've and perculiar. I only have to hover my finger above it and it starts moving although it doesn't stop on what I want it to, it just shoots down to something below. I have the sensitivity set to low and it was working last night. It hasn't been dropped or knocked.
    Can anyone help me?!?
I feel ever so slightly annoyed as it's pretty much brand new as I only received it a few days ago.
I had the same problem when I first got my Touch. I have the sensitivity set to the lowest setting. It has helped. It might also be that you just aren't used to the pad yet. That took me a couple months, but 5 months later, it works great for me.

  • Creative zen mirco touch pad prob

My creative?ZM?turns on &?plays music fine?BUT i cant use the?scroll or touch pad, meaning i cant change song, change playlist, press play/pause, change volume etc. its like the lock is on but its not.will someone please help asap!! I have no idea what to do. x

I'd suggest a Zen Wired Remote. It'd be a lot easier than taking the Zen apart and trying to fix it.

  • Zen Micro Touch pad Prob

Hey guys. I bought a Zen Micro from eBay for pretty cheap.
I knew that it was slightly faulty which is the reason why it's so cheap.
Basically, what's wrong with it, is that the vertical touch pad only goes one way at a time.
EG, if i want to put the volume up, I'll scroll up but it'll go down.
Now I thought I'd found a way to fix this, which is to push hard on the scroll pad in the direction I want to go then the scroller would be set to go that way. This isn't really practical but it does work sometimes.
What I want to know is is there any way I can fix it permanently? I have disassembled it and taken a look around but there wasn't anything I could see that could be causing a problem because the touch pad part of the Micro is hidden behind that big metal plate.. so I can't see in there.
    Anybody else had this problem?

I'd suggest a Zen Wired Remote. It'd be a lot easier than taking the Zen apart and trying to fix it.

  • Help!! Touch Pad problem (Creative Zen Touch 20

I dropped my Creative Zen Touch 20 GB accidently on the floor and now I have problems with my touch pad.... I can scroll down but can't scroll upwards anymore. This means I can't change my settings and it became quite difficult to select songs in long playlists. It is very annoying!!! Is there someone who can suggest me what to do? My warranty is already expired. Thanks for your reply.
