Zen Touch wired rem

Hi
My warranty replacement remote has failed after it's warranty expired.
Due to the lack of alternati'ves, I'm looking to buy a replacement and treat it very, very carefully.
At the moment, however, the wireless remote is constantly 'out of stock' at the creative shop (I'm in the UK by the way).
So, if anyone from Creative is reading, two questions:
) Is a new (hopefully sturdier) version going to be released soon?
2) When will new stock be available?
Many thanks,
Dave.

. The Asia Pacific version of the remote was supposed to be sturdier, but reports vary. Not must use in the UK though unless you buy via the warranty problematic eBay.
2. Creative always seem to have problems with stock, it's about time they resolved this. You'll have to contact the Store to see if they have any idea.

  • Is it possible Creative pulled the Zen Touch Wired FM Remotes for a redesig

I was thinking of purchasing one of these wired remotes for my Zen Touch...but can't find them anywhere...anywhere here on creatives site and anywhere else online...all say out of stock...would make sense and all since it is Xmas coming up...but after reading all the reviews on this unit and how expensi've it is and how it breaks after a certain amount of months...perhaps creative is pulling them for redesign or something?
would love to buy one...but...can't find one...yet everyone says this thing is crap!
    hrm.............wish there were more options.

They've been hard to find since they were launched. Creative aren't good at keeping items in stock.

  • Zen Micro Wired Rem

I've now tried 2 of these and can't get them to work. I can hear sound but the buttons don't work (and yes, I have taken the hold button off!). I'm using firmware ..0 which Creative said should be OK when I rang customer support. Anyone had similar experience and know how to fix it or do I just give up?

The best thing would be to go into Recovery Mode on the player. You do this by turning off the player, then remove the battery. Hold the power switch in the on position (and keep it there) and insert the battery (while you're holding the switch). It will boot into Recovery Mode then. One of the options in that menu is Reload Firmware. Once you choose this it will essentially wipe the firmware, so the player will only boot into Recovery Mode. You'll need to load the firmware onto it again from a PC (just run the same file update file again as you did before, version ..0).

  • Zen Touch recording via wired rem

    Hey all!
Into which format does the Zen Touch put voice recordings from the wired remote?
I know my sleek makes waves, is it the same system with the touch?

Yes, voice recordings on the Touch are WAV files.

  • Zen Touch optional wired remote control to play FM radio how do I get it? or can it work without

One of the reasons why i am thinking of buying a zen touch is becuase it has a FM radio built in. From the website it says you need an optional wired remote control to listen to the radio, where can i get one in the uk? or can it work without it's

The Zen Touch doesn't have a radio built-in. You'd need this:

The Zen Micro does have an FM tuner built-in.

  • Zen Touch Rem

    Hi
It would appear that Creative (bless 'em) have now killed off the wired remote for the Zen Touch and other older players.
Now my problem is that my remote has ceased working properly (loss of signal / distortion to the headphones) and is long out of warranty. There's obviously a bad connection at the player end of the cable, but having taken it apart it does not look at all user servicable.
So, do I have any alternati've to paying ?70 on ebay for a non-guaranteed replacement?
I'm really annoyed with Creative over this, since the remote's a good piece of kit when it's working properly.
    Thanks for any help.

Have you asked Creative whether they can repair it's

  • Several questions - new to Creative Zen Touch - please help (ripping/accessori

Hi, I just ordered my new Zen Touch 20gb online last night with a set of Sony earbuds (MDR-EX5LP). I'm pretty excited, get it this Friday.
I just had a few questions in advance:
    A) Which programs are best for ripping, allow you to adjust the quality of the songs, and won't cause problems when burnt cds are ripped (saw a thread earlier that complained of bad quality when burnt cds were ripped to MP3 that worried me)?
    B) What different types of cables/accessories would you recommend for wiring the Creative up to a stereo? On CNet.com and various other sites, they talk about how the Creative sounds great through speakers, and I'm really excited to hook that up, but I don't know A) Which cable to buy that will work well with the Creative/have good sound quality, B) Where to plug it in - headphone jack? (no analog Line Out, right?)
    C) Has anyone had any experience with the remote? Is it pretty durable? I'm not going to plop down 50 plus shipping and handling, wait 2-3 weeks for the backorder, only to have it fall to bits in a few weeks.
Thanks SO much! I appreciate any and all help. I'm new to Creative/Mp3 players as a whole, so forgive any ignorance/mistakes.

I have used WMP0 exclusi'vely for ripping CDs. I rip WMAs at 28kbps, though you may want to go up to 92kbps if you can hear the difference (some people recommed ripping a song at both and deciding which is best). I sync all my CDs with WMP0 too, and have had no issues. One thing to caution you is to make sure your ID3 tags are correct before you sync up. What I mean by this is to make sure the album name, track titles, and artist names are to your liking. 90% it is not an issue, but sometimes, the titles have extra characters you may not wish to have. If you have more than one artist listed on a track, only the first one is loaded. So if you have, say: "EmmyLou Harris; Buddy Miller", the track is stored under artist Emmylou Harris only.</LI>
Belkin sells this Dell DJ base that the ZT will fit into (there is another thread on that here). That seems like a nice option. You do go out of your headphone jack. Any chord that has the headphone jack on one end, and stereo RCA (red, white) jacks on the other end will do.</LI>
See other threads about the FM remote. I read some concerns about their durability, but read for yourself and decide.</LI>

  • Zen Touch is dead, Zen Vision:

I threw my bag on the ground in an angry rage (not Zen related, not very Zen at all in fact). Unfortunately my Zen Touch was in it at the time, and now is sadly dead and headed for the recycling plant ('hard disk problem' screen, click of death, won't reboot etc.) I thought the Zen Touch was a great player a bit let down by firmware / accessory support. I see that Creative are improving these things for the Zen Vision:M so I thought I might upgrade to that. Therefore I have a few questions about this player:
) Does it have a removable battery or not?
    2) What are some good cases for this player? (the Creative one looks nice)
    3) Is the Audible firmware update going to come back, and what were the problems with it's Is type 2 Audible track good enough quality?
    4) Is there anywhere to download legal music/ movie videos in the UK, and is the video feature really as good as it is cracked up to be?
    5) Does the black Zen Vision: M scratch too easily?
    6) Can you switch from music to radio with the separate wired remote?
    7) Should I wait for Creative to make a player with a DAB digital radio (I like radio) or will this never happen?
R I P my poor Zen Touch, I am sorry I destroyed you. Message Edited by joshua32 on 06-07-2006 04:52 PM

. NO removable battery, sorry. But it has a amazing battery life.
    2. The one comes with the device is ideal for carrying, but you can't, of course, use the device inside it. I remember I saw some cases for it.
    3. I don't know, I'm currently using that firmware (you are talking about .40 firmware with Audible support, which was removed after a few days, right), and have some problems with the sound. As soon as I upgraded, I started hearing some sort of clicky noise in the background, my files are mp3.
    4. Don't know about download, but video quality is superior, just as the screen. (supports WMV v3, DivX, MPEG, screen res: 320x240, 800kbps max. for video)
    5. Yeah A bad side of the device. The screen gets very easily scratched, more than the device itself (I have a black one), but fortunately, they don't create a problem as the screen is really bright (you can set it also, the brightness, there are 0 levels)
    6. I dunno, don't have the remote.
    7. I don't know anything about DAB, sorry. But I don't expect (personally) anything with better radio capabilities soon.
r.i.p. btw the case is also a really good protector from crashes for ZVM.
    Bottom line:
I've bought mine in March , and using it frequently, every day.
Definitaly recommend it. Feel free to ask more about ZVM if you have any questions.

GunsNRoses, I have looked at the I-ri'ver H340 and its VARRY nice. I would go for it right away.
But the thing that bugs me is they took out most of the functions from the American version (some of the missing functions are: USB host to take pictures from digital cameras, UMM, there?s more but I cant think :P ) also they take most of the accessories out. They did this to make the player cost less and to be a better competitor with the I-pod.
On the other hand (for a bit more $$$) they do have an international version (AKA World version) that has all the functions and just about all the accessories. So if I get one I will get the international one.
But today I emailed their tech support to see what would happen if I sent the international one into the American repair center. They replied that if I sent the international one and it needed to be replaced they would only be able to replace it with an American one. So I am looking into being able to get the warrantee out of US.
The H340 is a .8? hard dri've so its a bit more shock proof which is nice.
The sound quality is vary good but I did not get to compare it to the touch.
They did not have any pictures loaded on it so I did not get to see that side of the player.
I also like that I-ri'ver based the hard dri've format on the FAT format, making the hard dri've plug and play compatible, although this makes the player have a bit longer start up time (the longest time I have head is 40 seconds.)
The interface is a bit hard to use if you don?t know how to, but once you get used to it it'ss EZ.
To be able to record from anything is vary nice.
Having the color screen is cool to.
I have heard rumors about the player having the ability to save song lyrics and allow the user to access them when listening to music, I would find this really good, I don?t know if it will do this.
I have spent a little time on the I-ri'ver forms to see what people say about it. From what I have seen on the I-ri'ver forms most of what people that have a H340 are asking for new firmware and not so much talking about hardware problems.
The I ri'ver is more expensi've than the touch but it has more functions and comes with more accessories.
Here?s a link to a site that sells the H340 if you wont to look into it more. They have some good info on it. : http://www.teamdigital.net/store/customer/product.php?productid=402&cat=203&page=
Another thing about the international player is that it comes with a different wall outlet cable than we use in the US. But I do believe that the USB cradle charges the battery. And you can always go get a power adapter.
    On the Zen touch.
I do like the other Zen models and a touch pad sounds nice. But I need to see it.
I do not like that creative removed EAX from the player?s firmware and hope that creative will add that back with an update.
It is nice to see that creative brought back the LCD wired remote with FM receiver.
From the looks of the case creative supplies with the touch it looks good. Although others have said that its design faulty I think it will work fine.
The touch is not plug and play, which can be annoying but it makes the player start up faster.
The touch is also a .8? hard dri've, which is a bit more shock resistant than the 2,5?(other Zen models.)
I don?t know much more on the touch, but I hope I do soon.
I am still at a loss as which player I will buy, they both look so good. I hope when I can finally see them next to each other and test them I will know.
The I ri'ver is more expensi've than the touch but it has more functions and comes with more accessories.
If you have any questions post them and we can talk about it.

    b) If it is for remote headphones where i can buy them from ?

    Peter,
You can normally buy the FM wired remote through our European online store:

It is out of stock at the moment, but the online store may be able to advise you on when they will get more units in.

  • NOMAD Jukebox FM Wired Rem

I noticed it has been back ordered, and I was wondering if any Zen Touch.. or any Creative Mp3 Player owners have this product and have any feedback?
I saw on amazon three negati've comments... mostly about after a while on usage, it begins to give static and weird noises. And that it also stops working.
Is the reason it's backordered is cause CL are making a better one or improving on it's And should I go ahead and just buy one from somewhere else online.

I have a wired remote I bought a year and a half ago. Unfortunately I knackered up my Nomad 3 and couldn't use the remote. HAving just bought a #zen touch, I was pleased to be able to use my remote at last - it's lasted about 2 months and now the wire which connects to the base of the remote is so poorly connected or of such poor quality, that the sound is distorted and cuts out. I'm left with a remote which I've hardly used and unable to replace. I'm certainly not paying 50 pounds for a new one and wouldn't recommend anyone buying one until a brand new remote is released. I'm not the only one who has had this problem - view the forum on Nomadness.net for other poor people. Creative - please tell us what is going on - when will a new remote be released and one which lasts longer than a few months?

  • Looking for a Zen Touch Remote...with the following

So...first off...where in the world are all the accessories for the Zen Touches? Man..what a dissapointment...spent alot of money on this thing mainly becuase I use alot of creative products and did not want to give in to the IPod craze...not to mention I'm a service tech. at my work and we get like 0 ipods a day in for service...such garabage...anyways:
I'm looking for a wired remote for my 40 gig Zen Touch. I DO NOT NEED...FM Tune...a friggen MIC..i mean common people...a mic!!
!! I do not need the time...
all I require is a forward...backwards...fast forward..reverse...power on/off...backlight display with maybe the time duration on a track...and thats about it. is that so hard? does it exsist?...i'm leaning towards a probably not.
can't help but feel abandond on my unit given there is a lack on accessories for this unit...and it just seems like creative is pumping out those really small...no space mp3 players with a full heap of accessories to choose from.
well at least your Elite Pro is nice.

orangeblast wrote:So...first off...where in the world are all the accessories for the Zen Touches?
What accessories do you want? Most of the iPod accessories are junk, or just infinite versions of the same thing.

There is only the one remote, so that's the only choice I'm afraid. But if you don't need the features, don't use them.

  • Touch- Wired Remote Worth

    Hi Everyone,
I'm going to get a Zen Touch 40 gig.
Is the optional wired remote control, that can be purchased for about $50, worth getting?
Are you able to control the MP3 player controls from the remote, or does it only control the FM radio?
Any advice on this would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brian

Don't waste your money on it, is a plastic piece of junk. I bought one and it only worked for month, the cables seems to be the problem. You can only play/pause, skip one track foward or backsward. The lcd display only show the song title. You can't browse your player with it, only the current playlist is accesible. Many have complained about the Radio tuner's quality, in my experience it has a great quality, to bad it came in such a cheap case. Other features that this remotes enables are voice recording from a mic which is integrated into the remote, and radio recording. The quality of the recordings is good. Still like I said in the begining this is not worth the 49.99+S&H that it cost, plus you are risking yourself that it brokes like mine did in month.Message Edited by lsd_us3r on 07-9-2005 :04 PM
