Zen Touch with no Firmw

Ok my computer crashed everytime I connected my Zen Touch. It had worked great before for many years. but ok. I decided it probably was the Firmware so I restarted my MP3-player in recovery mode and deleted the firmware. guess what? I couldn't reinstall any firmware since my comp doesn't recognize my player
I use all of the newest applications and drivers on my comp.
/edit forgot some info about my computer
it's a Dell Dimension 8400 with Windows XP ProfessionalMessage Edited by karlozkiller on 0-0-2006 0:33 PM

To get the player detected now you need to go into rescue mode (which it sounds like it's doing anyway), choose reload OS/firmware to erase the firmware and prepare the player (the firmware is already erased anyway). Then you need to run the firmware update from the PC.
This is dependent on the player having been detected properly by the PC though, so you need to check in Device Manager when you connect it to see if it's listed there without error and with a driver version.

  • Can i use my Creative Zen Touch with my Xbox 360

Hello, wondering if you can help me out with the question above, and if you know how to make it work. If you could help me i'd be grateful.

You can use the Zen Touch with the Xbox 360, but you would have to update the firmware on the player to an MTP (2.x) firmware. This will slightly change the way the player works on the PC. For more information on MTP, check this knowledgebase article.

  • Zen Touch with Vi

First of all, my knowledge of PC's etc is very limited, so when answering, can you make it as easy to understand as possible ?I?have a Zen Touch and have just bought a new lap top that runs Vista and has Windows Media player installed
I have never upgraded any firmware on the player and still have the installation CD that came with the Zen when I installed it on my old XP laptop. I have also backed up all the music on the player
I have heard a few things that may or not be right, so... what problems am I likely to encounter
    1) Do I need to upgrade the firmware first?
    2) Can the firmware be upgraded on Vista, or is it best to do it on the old XP laptop before doing anything on Vista?
    3) When installing on Vista, do I use the original installation disk for the Zen, or can and do I download a different installation program for Vista and use that?
    4) Are there any other steps I need to be taking, and if so, at what point in the above list do I take those steps?
    5) If I take the above steps, am I doing them in the correct order
    6) Creative Mediasource came with the original disk and I found that it suited my needs. Will?I still be able to use it's And again,if so, can I use the one off the original disk, or do I download a new version?
Any help will be much appreciated

The firmware will have to be updated to the "Plays For Sure" firmwareversion#2..0 done on the Xp machine. The first thing is to check that you have Windows Media Player 0(not WMP) on the XP lap top WITH NO WMP components as in the Windows Media Player runtime. Link for firmware http://support.creative.com/Products...me=MP3+Players Link to remove? http://forums.creative.com/creativel...hread.id=66060? WMP & components (if need be). • Solution for "Firmware problem" Zen Touch with Media Player 11 and Windows XP

Hello,?I like to share this information about my troubles with updating my Zen Touch. At first my Media Player would not detect my Zen Touch. As I hoped the update of the firmware would solve my problem I started a firmware update. Unfortunatly it went wrong as a result the Zen unit did not boot anymore an gave a "Firmware problem". Due to this problem I could not reinstall the firmware as Windows XP did not detect my Zen. I was ready to trow the unit out of the window when I found this solution. And it really worked for me. I hope it wil solve your problems too. And many thanks to DG?http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...6280245AAiPliB?Best Answer - Chosen by Asker
I had the same problem. You don't have to call Creative. You don't have to spend any money. Here's how I fixed it:
    1. If you have Windows Media Player uninstall it and reboot
    2. Uninstall the WMP Runtime format from add/remove programs ( you may have to check the "show updates" box) and reboot
    3. With the Zen Touch connected, go to Device Manager and uninstall it and then unplug the USB cable.
    4. Uninstall ALL Creative software including the Zen drivers and then Reboot
    5. From Device Manager, uninstall ALL USB root hubs and reboot
    6. Plug in the Zen and wait for windows to detect it. In my case windows showed it as "Creative Zen" and then changed it to "MTP Device."
    7. Run the firmware update again. It should go ahead and update now.
You can reinstall WMP if you want after this. Be sure to get the latest version from microsoft's website.
    Hope this hel
    ps.

  • Zen Touch with Dell DJ and Dude

How can I drag and drop my files from my Dell DJ to my Zen Touch? I have Dudebox, but I don't wanna pay ANOTHER $20 for the NOTMAD program from Red Chair...if I copy the files first to the desktop, then xfer them to my Zen, the mp3 tags don't stay. (Dudebox must rewrite them when copying out to the desktop I think?) Let me know - I have 2 usb cords so they can be running at the same time.

Anecdotally copying from one player to another (which you can do with the Creative players in MediaSource) is MUCH slower than copying all the files to the PC first, then copying them to the player.
Also if you are having tag problems you need to check what's happening to the files when they come back onto the PC from the Dell DJ. Use a tagging program to have a look.

  • Zen Touch wont load firmw

I'm in recovery mode and select "Reload Firmware"
after erasing the old firmware i plug the player in, windows recognises that it has been plugged in (its visible in Device Manager)
i then run ZenTouch_PCFW_L4__0_03-.exe which says that the player is NOT plugged in ?
duh !! where do i go from here

    Dave,
I have found that if I hold the player in my left hand with my right sock rolled down whilst looking at Ibanez guitars on ebay helped me when trying to load the firmware.
Like the whole Zen touch experience it all depends on the Lunar cycle etc.
    Good luck

  • Zen Touch with the XBOX

I'm pretty sure my 360 doesn't recognise my Zen Touch as I don't have the firmware/correct driver. That is, I've had my Zen for over a year and only updated the driver around march 05 yet the 360 only arri'ved just before Xmas 05. Can anyone point me in the correct direction of the appropriate update that allows the 360 to recognise my machine?

You must use the v2.xx PlayForSure firmware, but MAKE SURE you really want this before you upgrade. You cannot go back to the v.xx firmware.
With the v2.xx firmware you have to navigate the player via folders on the PC, and there's a significant increase in connection time.

  • Error messages when transferring to Zen Touch with Creative MediaSource Organi

    Hello all,
My name is Allana and my lovely fiance bought me a Zen Touch for our 6 year anni'versary. I already love it dearly but transferring MP3s using MediaSource Organizer is a real nightmare.
It will transfer about 5-0 tracks then I will get a 'Server Busy, switch or retry' error, which is quickly followed by a 'Player is not connected or is busy' error.
Has anyone else experienced these errors? What did you do to fix it's
It is taking me absolutely ages to transfer tracks at this rate.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Allana

Connection problems can be due to a lot of reasons.
Have a look through the list here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.

  • Playlist in zen micro with playsforsure firmw

I'm using a zen micro with the 2..02 firmware... and napster to go... napster to go takes forever to transfer my tracks so usually I just use WMP 0 as a standalone... The question is... why can't I view playlists that I created on the fly inside my player in WMP0.... I've already accepted the fact that you can't delete most of the mandatory Napster playlists without deleting the tracks that they are composed of... and that kinda sux... but I thought that you would at least be able to view the playlists that you created on your player in WMP 0.... Is there something that I'm not doing?

WMP0 does not handle playlists properly, well not at all, so it will not work with any device the way its intended to do. Just got to sit back and wait for the next WMP update that Microsoft releases, but this problem was posted on their KnowledgeBase since March I believe so they are well aware of it.....

  • Zen touch snafu no firmw

I attempted to upgrade the firmware on my Zen to the ZenTouchP4S_PCFW_LB_2__0.exe. Apparently it failed. Whenever I turn on the Zen, it attempts to install the MTP driver, but fails. The Zen is never recognized as being connected and it tells me there is a firmware error.
    What have I done.

i have tried to work the zen touch with Windows media player but this dose not work and the computer crashes every time.
i have window xp professional and have all up dates from Windows. my computer is very new and has more then enough memory and ram.
please can you help. i am not to happy with the zen touch computer program and would like to know how to fix this problem.
    thank you for your help

I wonder if there are problems here associated with the use of the zen touch on SP2 machines. Interestingly I cannot transfer music from my PC to my Zen 20gb on a SP2 machine but I can do so on my sisters machine which has got SP. Obviously having the lastest firmware is a good idea though but I believe there are issues associated with SP2 and as you say you have all the latest updates to windows perhaps the problem lies there. Sorry if this doesn't help you at all

  • What driver to use with Plays for Sure Zen touch

Hi, I've upgraded my zen touch to 2.0.05 in the past.
Now I'm using a new computer and I need to install drivers for the Zen Touch.
The drivers on the CD do not recognise my Zen Touch, the latest drivers only support zen touch with firmware below 2.00.00, and to my knowledge, Microsoft has discontinued the use of Plays for Sure devices.
Further more the bundle update for Plays for Sure device only works if it can detect the Zen Touch in the first place, which it cannot.
So does anyone have a working driver for Zen Touch firmware 2.00.00 and above, thanks.

actually I do have the mtp drivers installed, but the interface is not as good as the Nomad Explorer. But when I try to install the real drivers for Explorer, it tells me that the Zen is undetectable, even though it clearly is plugged in and seen by the computer.

  • Max Number of files supported by new Zen Touch Firmwar

    Hello
I used to have about 34gigs of music on my zen touch with the old firmware. But now it will only accept about 20 gigs. Does anyone know what is the max number of files that zen touch supports with new firmware ?
    Thank You

    RBBrittain wrote:
Has anyone verified that this is true of MTP players as well? I doubt it'll be different (the tag-data library system is common to all Nomad-type Creative players, whether PDE or MTP), but with all the changes needed for MTP, it would be helpful.
I don't have a 40Gb Touch, which is really the kind of player you'd need to test this.
BTW, I was referring to the overall capacity limit, which is tied more to space than to number of songs; that was what Creative was talking about when they said MTP reduces the Touch's song capacity. Having a Micro myself, I've never had enough capacity to test the internal song limits.
Free space is pretty obvious, and the initial question was relating to number of files and any potential limit. I'm not sure what it is about MTP that reduces the space, whether it's the firmware, file system, or some addition to the files.
