Zen touch, XP and Drive

Hi,i have Win XP SP2 and a Zen touch 20Go, but when i install the drivers (i tried those on the CD, the Net..), my computer don't recognize the player.windows' automatic installation can't find the driver, and when i go to the "device manager" there is an exclamation point near the Zen touch. I tried to install desinstall but it does'nt work.. someone can help me?Thanks?P.S: scuse me for my english...?

Hi Guys, Creative doesn't do a very good job of explaining itself, or making it easy to find what you need. I just spent the last two days getting what I needed to make my Zen Touch (refurb from EBay) working. I zipped up what I found, and I will put the zip file on my website. **Unfortunately, I have to let it sit on my yahoo geocities account for the next 24 hours***http://www.geocities.com/chintue/ZenEverything.zip It contains:The User Manual in English (.PDF)The Drivers for XP (The one that says "install first" really needs to be installed first)The Upgrade to the Drivers for XP (Install this last, it upgrades the drivers.) [Removed temporarily] ***For the user that is having sync issues, attach the player, and then go into the control panel. From the control panel, open "System"From there, go to the "Hardware" tab.Open "Device Manager"In the list of devices, right click on the player and chose remove. Restart your system and then re-attach your device. If the system recognizes your player, use something like MediaMonkey to sync the music. Its a lot less tragic

  • I have recently bought a zen touch (20gb) and need help putting music on

I have recently bought a zen touch (20gb) and i can't figure how to get music from Creative media Source to my Zen. I know how to select all tracks (i have 745) but i can't find the transfer button. If someone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

You can use either the left arrow or the right arrow to transfer, depending on whether you view the content of your MP3 player on the left or on the right. Creative MediaSource is so fliexible that it offers you to view your different music sources in different panels. Apparently, you you may not be aware that you can view the content of your MP3 player in the right panel. Just to to the View Menu and you can select what you want to view in the right panel.

  • Zen Touch users (and possibly non Zen Touch users) with Firmware issues click he

i just got back from the mall.i visited the electroworld branch from which i purchased my zen. i explained to them what my problem is, at first they recharged the player in a usb port in front of me...then they also reformatted it too...told me to stick to the firmware that came with the product..the player responded and thanked them..but hr later, it blacked out again..i came back to the store manager showed him my zen ( he couldnt deny it doesnt have a problem ) and within minutes told me...they are going to give me a replacement. (the diagnosis was AUTO-OFF). they did and im very thankful. right now im charging the new player and hoping...i mean really hoping that this zen works. because im not going to waste my time again even with that warranty. if this zen is defecti've, im gonna li've with its defect..but im going to save up for the fruit's company in my next purchase..better yet why not a new pda...i can play [size="+2"]ZEN TOUCH USERS (and possibly non Zen Touch users)!!!
    OH MY GOD
!!! I can't believe it, but after at least 5 hours of troubleshooting, I got it to work!!
I don't know if all of these steps are necessary or not, but this is what I did in approximately this order (I'm so excited now, I'm not even sure if this is the exact order, but I'm almost positi've this is how I did it verbatim). I really, truly hope this works for everyone else.:
    ON YOUR ZEN TOUCH:
.) Don't connect device to USB yet
    2.) Clean Disk
    3.) Format Disk
*Don't bother with restart firmware or reboot; these options are useless.
    ON YOUR PC:
.) Do NOT connect device to USB yet.
2.) I did what everyone suggested and rolled my Windows Media Player to v0 (using Add/Remove programs in Control Panel), made sure I had SP2, had the latest drivers, blah blah blah. I'm not sure if this is necessary, but I also uninstalled my Firefox WMP plugin just to be safe. :smileyindifferent:
3.) I un-installed (using Add/Remove programs in Control Panel) and re-installed my Zen Touch drivers, both my 2.0.00 and .30.03 (.30.03 is needed ONLY if you have XP Pro 64-bit edition). I'm not sure if re-installing the drivers is even necessary, but just to be safe, let's say it is. :smileyvery-happy:
    ---THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART!---
4.) I plugged my device into my USB port. When it prompts you whether you want to Sync the device with Windows Media Player or Take No Action, don't ignore it and close out. SYNC IT! I made the mistake of thinking that because my firmware was corrupted and my drivers weren't recognizing my Zen Touch as nothing more than a worthless hard dri've that there was no way it would sync with WMP. IT DOES
!!! I don't know how but it freakin' does!
5.) Open up your firmware update file and try to update again. Mine worked immediately and updated the player within seconds!
NOTE: As mentioned on Creative's Support page, probably the only thing they were right about, your device will no longer be compatible with MediaSource. If you want to add music, you have to do it with Windows Media Player 0's Sync page now. And for the love of god, don't update Windows Media Player! It's not worth it! Winamp is way better anyways!
Good luck everyone! I sincerely mean that. :manhappy:
Message Edited by invisiblephrend on 06-07-2008 :32 PMusic files in it, watch movies, save medical books etc..

I also strongly recommend that when Windows Media Player asks you whether you want to sync automatically or manually to choose the manual option. Automatic just randomly grabs music files and could likely add?music you don't want on your device.

  • Zen Touch/Vista and Slow Transfer - Any Advice?

/Zen Touch/Vista and Slow Transfer - Any Advice?s I recently purchased a new PC with the new Intel i7 quadcore chip running vista.
Everything running blazingly fast, except music transfers to my Zen Touch.
Did the firmware upgrade on my old XP PC (after rolling back Windows Media Player to v0 as mentioned).
Loaded MediaSource 5 on the new Vista PC with the proper drivers (the "playforsure" one, plus the CD burning one). Copied all my media files to the new PC using an external hard-dri've.
I have the 40GB Zen Touch, started transferring all of my 0,888 WMA files to it (96kbps), which normally may take the better part of a day, or overnight,?on the old XP machine.
I'm going on about 2 /2 days now (with the new PC, new firmware, new MediaSource software/drivers)?and finally it's almost finished.
It?started out like gangbusters, song ever second or two, but with each transfer seemed to slow, now doing about song per minute!
I've heard the 'playforsure' software slows things down...but this seems ridiculous. Is there anything I can do?

From the recovery /rescue mode on the player do a Cleanup>Reboot. the more files you have on it the slower the dri've may become since it's getting full. Also WMP works faster at least for me with syncing files.

  • Zen Touch 40GB and Windows Vista

    Hi-

$A longer-term, but one-time solution for the Zen Touch, Xtra & Micro (and a few, but not most, Sleeks & MicroPhotos) with original Creative PDE drivers and .x.x firmware (read the FAQs for more details):
Find a PC with Windows XP (SP2 or higher) and WMP 0 (not 9, not ). Download & install the Creative PDE drivers from this site. Connect your player. Backup any irreplaceable files to the PC (the next step will reformat your player). Download & install the "PlaysForSure" firmware update (2.x.x) from this site. Restore any files you backed up in step 5. Disconnect your player & uninstall the PDE drivers.<This will update your player to MTP (aka PlaysForSure), which is nati'vely supported in Windows XP (with WMP 0 or ), Vista & 7 without any additional drivers. (MTP drivers are also available from this site for certain older versions of Windows.) WMA DRM files can be transferred via WMP; other files can be transferred using WMP, Windows Explorer, or MTP/PlaysForSure-updated Creative software from this site.
The other post describes a kludge someone used to get an older Zen (with only PDE firmware) to work with Vista; it may or may not work. Creative does not support PDE-firmware players in Vista or 7.

  • Zen Touch 20g and PlaysForSure Firmware 2.11

    Hi,
I have been trying for months but cannot get my Zen Touch 20g to work with Vista. I have followed to the letter the details posted on these forums:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R84R3...IN=B0002TSU2O# Was this helpful?
    http://forums.creative.com/creativel...cending&page=2
However this firmware wont update the player. I just keep getting a message that says 'You cannot use this firmware upgrade for your player. Please download a suitable firmware upgrade'.
I have uploaded the driver, driver version : JB3MV2_PCWDRV_US__30_03.EXE and I am using Media player 0, on an XP platform with service pack 2 installed.
Can anyone help as this problem has already done my head in many times over.
    Thanks
    Shane

Have you actually erased your firmware? http://forums.creative.com/creativel...scending&page= This thread here tells all the steps & has all the links. The source of your problem may be the WMP runtime file.Once you change to that firmware you cannot go back.

  • PLEASE, PLEASE HELP: Big problems with my Zen Touch. (Firmware/driver issu

    So here's the deal:
Last night I thought I'd finally take the time to upgrade my Zen Touch to 2. from .3 or something like that. I noticed that there was a warning saying that this was no small upgrade, and that I should back up everything I have on it.
I'm glad I did, because now my MP3 player situation is seriously screwed up, big time. During the upgrade process, my computer froze, leaving my Zen Touch without firmware (ok, so firmware version 0.0.0). Upon turning the device on, it boots up in recovery mode. This allows me to either format, clean up, or "reupload" firmware. I've tried all of these options, but the fact is clear that my computer simply will no longer recognize my MP3 player.
It does, however, recognize it at as a generic storage device. However, this isn't enough for me to reinstall the player's firmware unfortunately.
So basically, I can't update driver or firmware right now, because my computer won't acknowlege my Zen Touch!
    Somebody please, please help.
I've already tried using the setup file from http://www.jumpingcholla.com/jce_nomad_ZEN.htm.
    Seriously, please help!

    Sort of success!
I now finally have firmware 2. installed on my Zen Touch! Yeah! I'm not entirely sure how I did it, and I'm not bothering to find out, I'm just glad I finally got it on there.
But some problems still remain. After all this fiddling with my driver and firmware and whatnot, my computer just doesn't see my MP3 the same way as it used to. Before, it was great, all I had to do was plug her in and I could bring up Zen Explorer in Windows Explorer, or organize my stuff in Creative MediaSource.
Now that's not the case. The only way I can sort of add stuff to my player now is by going into Windows Explorer, which is still more or less acknowleging my player as a "portable device". Granted, there is a dri've called "My Zen", but it doesn't bring up Zen Explorer like it used to when I click on it. Furthermore, when I go into MediaSource, I can't select it as a location, there just isn't anything there.
It almost seems as if my computer thinks I'm just using a portable hard dri've. Is there anyway I can tell it that it's an MP3 player, too?
    Thanks!

  • Zen Touch Connection AND Firmware proble

after installing the firmware upgrade 2.. my player was not recognized in CMS or any other player although it was visible in the device manager and Windows says the driver is installed and works properly. I tried to reload the firmware through the recovery mode but now the installation is impossible because the computer says my ZEN TOUCH IS not connected. I tried it on different computers where my zen always worked but there as well it failed to be recognised. I read all the complaints on the forum, all the possible suggestions, tried the solution SID0053 but to no use. I really hope I will be get useful information te get out of this mess.
    Best greetings

    Hello Brotsalami,

To Jason or anybody else from Creative: I would appreciate a helpful reaction from any of you.

  • Creative Zen Touch 40 Hard Drive Failure Confir

I just recieved a zen touch 40gb a week ago. Worked great for a week (had 2000 songs on it) then it seemed to only transfer songs in groups of 50 or so, then 20, then 0 and now not at all. It still plays them just fine. Last night I was reloading all drivers updating everything etc, thinking I had a driver conflict. Then I heard what sounded like a low level beep coming from the player. I tinkered a little, and the beep is more of a clicking that follows any hard dri've access (after the spinning stops) I can reproduce it 90 percent of the time when I skip a song, press random, or turn the player off.
I am going to return the player and trade it out, but just wanted some confirmation from one of the more knowledgible people around here that this is probably a dri've issue. I searched the forum and it sounds like it when compared to other dri've issues..
Also for those who li've on this board, how common do you think it is to have a dri've failure in one of these players. I know on this board there the density of problems would be higher relati've to satisfaction due to satisfied people don't tend to complain.
Also would this explain the transfer problems which seemed to work well at first (My thought is the player stops transfering when writing causing the error) I got the player as a gift so I don't have an option to trade to a different model, and am thus stuck with the Zen Touch 40.

I don't think anyone can give you a 00% guarantee, but if you're hearing repeated retries (clicking) followed by some sort of copy failure the dri've does sound like a very likely cause.

    Not common.
Also would this explain the transfer problems
For sure. If you have a broken dri've it would cause transfer problems. Bear in mind that MP3 players with hard dri'ves are quite sensiti've devices.

  • Zen Touch sync and display probl

I left my Touch connected to my PC with WM0 running to convert and transfer tracks to the Touch. When I came back a few hours later the transfer had stopped - incomplete with and error message (didn't make a note of it ).
Now my it is not recognised by my PC. When I plug the USB lead in it is seen and the option window comes up. I click on the sync option and WM fires up but says that it can't find a player atteached. The Touch screen shows that it is docked.
I can't see the player as an external dri've either.
When I play anything on the Touch I can get as far as choosing tracks but as soon as I hit the play button the screen is different from normal. Instread of showing the track details all I get is a notice to "Add music from Library"
I have tried a reset, and rescue mode but they have not helped.
Can anyone give me any advice?
    Zen Touch 40gb, Version 2..0
    Track count 380.
    (Showing 22gb free - but I think that's wrong)

    Got it working again.
Did a reset and formated the dri've - lost my music though

  • Zen Touch software and AC adaptor compatible with Vision

I just got the Vision: M and I'm wondering if I can use the software and AC adaptor I got with my previous player, the Touch with the Vision: M.

Hey There,???The Zen Vision M runs on a 5V DC Power Adapter running at 2.5A so i would not recommend it as it could seriously damage your battery and void your warranty. I am not a professional but this is from my basic knowledge of electronics. Hope This Hel

PS. If you are looking for a DC Adapter, they have many at a reasonable price on eBay. =)

  • Zen Touch/Dust and Garb

I don't know how in the world this happened, but when I pulled out my player from my backpack I came to discover that my player had cracker particles INSIDE the screen window! I searched all around my player to find how in the world could cookie and dust particles have found their way inside my player, but all I could see were the USB and headphone jacks. These openings seem a little too small for me to imagine how they could have made it in there. How can I clean it's Will I have to open up my player using the screws?!Message Edited by AmeliaB on -26-2005 07:4 PM

Try going to the retailer from where you bought the unit (hopefully at a reputed electronics store). They would probably offer the best solution. Good luck. It sounds like a real heartbreaking discovery (I know MY heart would sink if I had that problem.)

vajacases.com has some nice cases... expensi've though.
there are also meant to be some skins coming out from a company called (I think) Exspect at the end of May.
There's a gizmo which lets you put your Touch into a car drinks holder, which is available at the Creative online store. There's also a Creative version of the Belkin Tunecast II, which is also available in the store, as is a Creative portable speaker system.
    Hope this hel

  • Making the Zen Touch 20gb into a Plug and Pl

Is there anything I can do to make my Zen Touch Plug And Play. (Where it automatically installs the hardware on a different PC, much like a USB stick and an iPod.
This is because I haven't any money to invest in a USB stick, and have alot of college work on my home PC, with no way of printing it off or taking it to school
It would also help with games for those boring Computing lessons, and the dreaded ITC lessons

The closest you're gonna come to "plug & play" is the MTP/Janus firmware upgrade, but only for WinXP SP and up with WMP 0. Per the sticky thread on the upgrade (where all discussion of it should be confined), the Touch upgrade is expected sometime this month--but Creative has been missing release dates for it all year.
Touch users have also asked for a "removable disk" mode (which the Micro, Sleek, and Zen 20GB have), which activates a data-only partition that acts as a "plug & play" dri've on WinMe/2000/XP (and needs only a widely-available generic driver for Win98SE). It's unknown if this will be included in the MTP/Janus upgrade. (There have also been requests to make the entire player MSC, or dri've-letter "plug & play"; but that's highly unlikely as it would conflict with the "Zen Patent" library system as well as MTP/Janus.)
