Zen USB p

Hello all,?I recently purchased a car with an Audio box that allows one to plug any type of MP3 player via a USB connection. The MP3 players must use the MSC mode in order for the Audio Box to read and play the mp3 files on the car radio system. I have a Zen Touch 20Gb and can not manage to get it recognized by the audio box.. Do you know if there is anyway to play music from a Zen Touch using the USB port, or can you do that only via the headphone plug? Any way to have the Zen Touch in MSC mode?Thank you for your help,?MarcoP

marcoP,
Unfortunately the Zen Touch is not a MSC player so you can use the player USB interface with your car system.

  • Zen USB 2.0 strange behavi

Since I updated my Zen usb 2.0's drivers and firmware etc., it has been behaving rather oddly... pressing the volume up button toggles between the different views of "now playing" unless you press a lot, very quickly, in which case it's possible to get a few more notches on the volume after about 20 presses.
Also, the remote/fm tuner has been going insane too, as only when it is plugged in does the player skip between play mode, to record to radio, without my touching it. It also sometimes doesn't acknowledge the remote is plugged in, though sound comes through the headphones, and the only way to make it work is to unplug then plug in again... is this connected to the other problems, or do you think it may be due to the headphone jack not working properly?
Has anyone else had these problems, and/or does anyone know how to fix them? It's extremely frustrating! Thanks in advance )

Did you install the correct firmware for the USB 2.0?
Try to reinstall it again, do a disk clean up and stuff like this.

  • Nomad Zen USB 2.0, Napster to Go supp

I purchased a Nomad Zen USB 2.0 a few yrs back to download songs from Napster without having to burn to CD. I feel like that purchase/union of online service and player are inseparable however the new release of Napster to Go is not immediately supported by the Nomad Zen USB 2.0. I anyone else in my same state of mind?
Also, does anyone know if/when the Nomad Zen USB 2.0 firmware is going to be updated to support the Napster to Go service? Does anyone know what WMP functionality has to be implemented to support Napster to Go? What is the WMP functionality referred to by the technical developers?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jaye

your player wont support napster to go. there is a hardware component of the DRM that n2g uses that only exists on players manufactured from fall 2004 onward. we are led to believe that only current creative players (micro, touch, and xtra) will support this service.

  • Cannot copy to Zen USB

I just recently gave my daughter my Nomad Jukebox Zen USB 2.0, 20GB.
I installed the software on her computer and she was able to delete files from the player and copy to her computer.
She is unable to copy any files to her player.
Any ideas? It is almost like the player is write protected. I also cannot play any of the files on the player using the computer software.
    thanks,
    Dave

Make sure to get the latest drivers, application software and firmware from Nomadworld.com downloads.

  • Can the hard drive for an MP3 player be connected to a computer with a cable? (Creative Zen USB 2

Can the hard dri've on my Zen USB 2.0 be used a portable or internal hard dri've with the use of a cable?
I DON'T want to connect via the USB.
I was just wondering if it could be removed from the actual player (headphone outlet no longer works - can't fix it) and be used as a regualr hard dri've.
What cable would I need to do this?
    Thanks.

You should be able to connect it with no problems. Connect it and test.

  • Creative Zen USB and File transfer probl

Am the unhappy owner of a brand new Creative Zen touch 20gb mp3 player which apparently works with usb 2.0. After installing the software which came on the cd (file transfer software and nomad explorer) the Zen appears to get recognised by the pc with no problems when i connect via the usb cable. The Zen also displays 'docked' which is all very well. However if i select say 0 tracks to download to the player the xp progress bar seems to halt at around 60-70% and eventually the program (nomad) complains that the operation cannot be completed. I noticed that the small hard dri've in the player feels as though it is 'spinning down' around a similar time to the message being displayed. If at this stage i refresh the players view in nomad explorer it can be found with no problem....its just i cant write to it until i unplug the usb from the zen and reconnect. I spoke to creative who told me that because my pc (in system devices) reports that my usb is an 'open host' adapter...this means it cannot supply adequate power to the player....but surely USB2.0 is USB2.0 and if something claims to be USB2.0 compliant that would be the end of the story? The usb card im using is a usb 2.0 pci card and is also pretty new. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I have tried various usb ports, usb and2 conections ( I have both), various cables and combinations and the same happens. I have also tried win xp and win98, and other disks I have with the same result. I have managed to transfer 20 os so mp3s (a small proportion of those I have been trying to transfer)after 3-4 hours hard labour but never the contents of a full folder. After a proportion of the files are transferred then Zen touch becomes 'busy' or 'not connected'. Obviously there is no way I can continue like this and it will have to go back.
I have tried the slightly newer driver but this did not work at all and I had to roll back to the one that came on the CD. I feel that I have given it a fair shot trying all the workarounds.
Is is a USB power problem? Should a powered usb hub cure it's If so why?
But is this surely is Creative's problem. It is obviously a known issue but what are they doing about it's Putting out Zens which are prone to this problem is not good practice. Any solutions out there?

    Hey,
If you tried it on a friend's computer and you're still having problems then it may be a problem with the Zen. Before you call or e-mail tech support, here is what they will tell you do to first before they really get in depth with helping you. Go into Rescue Mode (there is an explanation on how to do this at the top of the forum) and do a disk clean up. After that, try it. If that doesn't work then click the reload OS option which will take the firmware (like windows to your PC) off the Zen. Don't worry you can easily put it back on. Go to Support>Downloads>select Zen Touch, etc, etc. and download the latest firmware and run it. Hopefully that will fix it....
I had some connection problems myself with my ZT as soon as I got it as well. and simply reflashing the firmware fixed and now I love my Zen. I hope everything works out for you.

  • Zen USB 2.0 Juke

Hi - I've got a Zen Jukebox USB 2.0, and I now find I cannot use it with Windows Vista! Needless to say I'm not very happy!
    Are there any solutions
    All the best, Jeremy

The Zen USB2 is not on Creative's list of players that are supported under Vista.

You might want to see if you can install and run the software in Vista under XP compatibility mode; some posters have said that they have been able to get it working, others have not.

  • ZEN usb 2.0 quite old from 2

i have just bought this item and during my excitement have reset it and now it will not go past the EAX start-up screen. is there any way i can force format this itemMessage Edited by ashrooster on 08-25-2007:57 AM

My zen micro was working fine for the longest time until one day, I started having the same issue. Then it started freezing as soon as i turned it on. i've been able to get rid of that problem after playing with it. I can now start it into recovery mode. I've erased the firmware but now i cant do anything more. As soon as the player is connected to USB, it freezes. I've noticed that it doesnt matter what type of USB its connected to (wall charger, pc front or back ports). Any kind of help or answer would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Help me - Zen Touch from a zen usb 2 - Is it worth

I have a 60gb usb2 mp3 zen player. The battery and general condition of the unit is beginning to show its age.
    4 Questions....
) What functionality would I be losing/gaining from switching players.
    2) Is the archos 80gb or iri'ver h340 in your opinion better players?
    3) Will it definately be napster to go compatible.
    4) What are everyones positi'ves/negati'ves about this player?
I would appreciate anyones help to these questions as I am on the verge of going to Dixons tomorrow to purchase the 40gb model.
    Thanks

nparrett: I'd be surprised if the battery has problems as they should last around 3 years before peak performance drops off.
I'll leave the comparison with the Touch to the other reply. Not sure about the Archos player but the iRi'ver gets good reviews and is certainly feature packed. You'll have to look at the detail to see if it's a better player for you. Napster to Go support is coming for the Touch.

  • Driver Jukebox Nomad Zen USB

I have a big problem. Since I have updated Windows XP, I can't use my Jukebox Nomad anymore. In fact, Windows can't detect and install the correct driver so it don't recognize my mp3 player when I connect it... I have already tried the autmatic and manuel installation but it doesn't work. I have an error message everytime.
What can I do ? Please help me because I can't use it anymore...

I have the same problem. Tech support say my unit may be faulty but it was working until I made the mistake of trying to upgrade the software.
I have tried this link (above) but this did not cure the problem. The player is recognised but no suitable driver is found. If I right click on the .inf file and install then the Zen Xtra appears in the Unknown Devices section with a question mark.
If tech support fix my problem I shall publish here.

  • Zen USB 2 headphones problem / Creative repair

    Hi,
I have a Zen USB2 20GB I bought a long time ago in the US. The warranty has long since expired and I changed the hard dri've to a 60GB so it would be void anyway.
I am having the headphones jack problem that seems to plague this line of products. I thought I could just open it up and fix it myself but the problem appears to come not from the jack itself (I verified the connections, everything looks fine), but rather from the connector between two PCBs inside (when I press my finger on the top pcb sound gets better or worse depending on the direction). I can't be sure, I have neither the hardware nor the skills required for that kind of stuff.
So I'd like to know if there is a known solution that I could try. If not, who do I contact at Creative to get my player repaired in France ? I'm willing to pay as long as the price is reasonable. I couldn't find this info on the website.
    Thanks in advance,
    Julien Adam

Creative will repair the player, but for a price. I'm not sure if they will repair an upgraded player though.
Perhaps you can find someone who has done PCB soldering, and they can repair this problem. Is it a faulty track?

  • Creative Zen USB 2.0 (North American Version) Charging While in Euro

Hey, so I'm going on a Euro vacation this summer and I'm wondering about whether or not I'll be able to charge my Zen while I'll be in the EU. Currently I have an AC Adapter htat has an Input of 00-240V, and I have no clue about electricity and the sort. My simple question is, with a plug adapter to fit the outlet, will I be able to charge my zen alright?

CHarging will be no problem. Europe has 240 volt.
