Zen V 4GB Vista Drivers Probl

Trying to get this Zen V to work with Vista is getting really frustrating. I think the problem is that I initially tried installing the software off the CD without realising that it isn't compatible. I tried to uninstall, and got rid of most of it. However, in the Uninstall programs menu, the Creative Zen V Series (R2) program with the little mp3 player logo is uninstallible. I try, but I just get the "Setup.exe has stopped working message".
Now when I am trying to install the mp3 player, it doesn't work. The weird thing is, once i uninstall it in the Device manager, then plug it in, it docks and works properly....untill Vista is finished trying to install drivers, which it fails at. Is there a way to stop Vista doing this, or any other way to make it work?

Never mind, I got it to work now! What I did was install the Vista compatible version of the media explorer. I didn't try that before now because it requires a player to be connected before it will install, which was a bit too Catch 22 for me to work out. what I did though was install it withing the 30 seconds or so that it takes to install the Vista drivers and the player connects. Once that was done, the old corrupt install must have been overwritten, as the nati've drivers installed properly first time. Thanks for your help anyway!

I agree, Vista is a disappointing product, considering the time MicroSoft had to work on it. :|
I hope that they'll release a Service Pack soon to address their lack of legacy device support.

    <span class="postdetails">Windows Vista Drivers for 820 and 66
I hate to say this about E-MU but the way they are dealing with Vista Drivers is unprofessional. I am a repeat customer of Creative products and was so impressed by my old Platinum eX that I bought a second to run duals for tons of audio processing. That was back in the day. Then I jumpped ship and tried out an M-Audio Firewire 40. That did not last too long beforei was completely unimpressed. So I came back to Creative... Purchased a 820 in the box. So impressed I turned around and purchased a 66 in the box just 8 months later. Both ran smooth as butter... All until i just recently built my new system designed primarily with audio production in mind.
With a setup like this, who needs a mac?
    AMD Athlon X2 x64 Dual Core +6000 3.0 Ghz
    2 Gigs Corsair
Samsung SyncMaster 206BW 2" Wide Screen
    EVGA NVidia 9700s 256 DDR3 Graphics
    SATAs up the yin
and a PCIMIA to PCI Dock
    All under Vista Ultimate OEM
    And Guess what?
    Months into RTM of Vista...
E-MU is caught pushing release dates.
Last month it said they would release beta drivers middle of April...
I waited, patiently I might add.
I waited<waited some more, I try running xp drivers... computer wont even try to install them properly.
My software waits, computer waits, turns into a gameing machine just because my all together 600 dollar investments in Creative are not important enough to leld me the drivers i need to be producti've in what i love.
I need x64 drivers stat. I need them working, I need them installable without a glitch, a hitch, no driver signing problems, no questions, no fuss no muss. I find it ironic that you guys at E-MU are willing to jump right in there and make sure to have drivers compatable for you new products, yet faithful advocats of the most powerful soundcards you have are sitting here dead in the water because you dont find it nessesary to place priority on ready and waiting end users who have purchased long term support buy investing large amounts of moola into hardware from your company.
Come on, its not like the 820 or the 66 are exactly legacy technology. We are talking about Hardware that is only two years old and should be usable for up to 6 years. This is deffinatly a strike against the company and just goes to show where Creative stands.
I have stood by waiting in silence for a very long time.
Now i think my time has come to tell how i feel and i believe there are alot of others out there that feel the same. the only items that do not work soothly are my E-MUs... go figure.
And I have been looking forward to all i can do running both of them side by side.
Oh yes, and that link posted above to the beta news for vista... its a joke. open up your betas, and have a real dev tell us what the hang ups are... At least give us real concreate reasons why it is taking so long.
with that said, when you guys get yoru act together and get me some drivers, I will sit happy as a lark.
    My thoughts for today.

    Hello Silas,
    sorry for my bad english
I already checked that page. On the first time I was trying to install Vista on a clean hard drive. The installation process finishes without errors but after installation Vista shows me a lot of error messages, mostly about unknown hardware. So I installed all available drivers I have found on Toshiba web site. It not helped me too much, hardware problems still remains. I could not find out what exactly causes probles. Finally I decide to install XP and then upgrade to Vista. Now everything seems to be ok. :D
There was some hardware problems but much easier to resolve. It seems to me that Toshiba did not provide all the drivers, for example StarForce Protection drivers. Vista did not recognized this hardware on the first time.
    Now it works!

  • Zen Touch in Vista- Not working, don't know what to

I've looked around for over an hour and I still can't find a solution. I'm trying to install the software that my player came with onto a different computer that has Vista. I've read that there's a problem w/ that on Vista, but no where that tells me what exactly to do, or if there is anything to do at all. I read something about nati've drivers and firmware, but where would I even get that? I did go where you select your product, and then what type of system you have and look for firmware and applications. No firmware came up.. I have Vista 32 bit. Basically, I just want someone to tell me if I can use my Zen Touch in Vista right now or not. If I can, and there's something I have to do for it to work, what do I have to do?It seems like they would have a solution to it by now, especially since I paid about $300 for the mp3 player when I purchased it, and to find out it doesn't work in Vista would really piss me off. If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.Message Edited by Tiffany3 on 09-2-200708:43 PM

I got it working... I had to instal the original cd on the XP machine and Windows Media player 0 too. apparently it was WMP0 that did the trick, I don't know why. Anyhow the new firmware installed and it now works on MY VISTA machine. I installed the newest applications for Vista and it I have problems using the software.. so I just use the drag and drop feature with windows explorer instead of the Creative MS 5 software. Oh, and I DID watch my language. I purposely put in symbols to blank out what the word I meant to say was. :smileytongue:

    Hello,
I bought a Creative Zen Micro 4GB?couple of years ago (3-4 years ago) and lost it year ago. I found it now and wanted to start using it but I have a problem. I bought a new laptop which is Vista and my pc doesn't recognize the player when I plug it in. It recognizes it and the bubble comes up at the tray, but it doesnt recognize it and says it can't find the driver and that I need to install the driver. However, since my pc can't recognize it, I can't install a driver or do anything with it since it isn't recognized by my pc. I read lots of posts and solutions to them, but none of them help my problem. In the device manager, it is apperead with a yellow explanation mark but I can't reinstall the driver. I also tried the cleanup and reboot but that also didn't work. Can anyone help me? (I also tried this on my old pc which has XP but it had the same problem.) My Pc is Windows Vist 32-Bit Operating System and Service Pack . By the way, when i plug in my zen micro, the window comes saying 'found new hardware' and I am suposed to locate a place for the dri've and it says i should insert the disc that came with it. However, when i insert it nothing happens and in the end it says it failed. I really need urgent help. Thank you in advance already.

  • Qosmio G20 Vista drivers? Not needed to install Windows Vista

    Hello,
I am new at this forum. My name is Francisco and I live in Brazil. I own a Toshiba Qosmio g20_105 and it is running Windows Vista Ultimate EN RTM 6000 without problems.
To do this, you must perform a fresh install of Windows Vista. The drivers for network (Intel PRO100),for audio (Soundmax), for TV (Toshiba PCI Tuner), modem (toshiba modem), Alps pointing device are installed directly from microsoft. You must install Toshiba nvidia display driver, Toshiba Bluetooth (monitor and stack), Toshiba texas flash media driver, toshiba RAID (driver and utilities), toshiba remote control manager and ConfigFree for Windows Vista.
You must have the Toshiba RAID drivers to install from the windows Vista DVD. Otherway, Windows does not recognize Toshiba RAID 0 and RAID 1.
Below some pictures of my G20 Desktop screen:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen1.jpg
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen2.jpg
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen3.jpg
And here is an example of using deskscapes animated backgrounds with Windows Vista, called dreamscene.
    It is in paused mode
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen4.jpg
To perform a fresh install of windows Vista:
Please, download the Toshiba RAID drivers from here:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/raid.rar
    1. Copy the contents of this archive onto a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.
    2. Insert your Microsoft Windows Vista Edition Bootable DVD.
    3. Power on your computer and press F12 to display the boot menu.
    4. Choose the option to boot from the CD/DVD drive.
    5. On the first setup screen, choose your language options then press "Next".
    6. Press "Install Now".
    7. Type in your Product Key then press "Next".
    8. Accept the license terms by checking the box then press "Next".
    9. When asked "What type of installation do you want", press "Custom (advanced)".
    10. When asked "Where do you want to install Windows", make sure your media containing the Toshiba RAID drivers is connected to the computer, then click on "Load Driver".
    11. Browse to the location you have copied the RAID drivers to then press "OK".
    12. Setup will return to the previous screen, but it will show that you have selected the TOSHIBA RAID driver.
    13. Make sure the TOSHIBA RAID driver is selected then press "Next".
    14. Continue the installation of Windows Vista as normal.
Now you will need the Toshiba drivers for your Qosmio G20:
    See the Device manager info:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/qosmiodrivers1.jpg
    Drivers:
    1. SD memory controller
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/SD_memory.rar
    2. Bluetooth monitor and stack
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/bluetooth_mon.rar
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/bluetooth_stack.rar
    3. Nvidia display driver GeForce Go 6600
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/nvidia97.52.rar
    4. Texas FlashMedia controller
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/flasmedia.rar
    And finally the Toshiba utilities:
    Toshiba Configfree
    Toshiba Assist
    RAID utilities
    Remote control manager
    Toshiba SD Memory utilities
    That's it...
So I must tell to you that Toshiba Qosmio G20 is Windows Vista Ultimate capable, indeed.
Hope this helps people who need and want to install Windows Vista Aero on their Qosmio G20 machines.

This is a step by step guide for those of you with problems to get Windows Vista functional on your G20 Qosmios
Use a Windows Vista English Version RTM Ultimate 6000 DVD for installation.
1 Backup your personal files and important data to a removable device, CD, DVD, flashmedia, pendrive, etc...
2.Check your Qosmio player installation. if nedeed, reinstall it with the latest version (multilanguage), posted on Toshibas site (download drivers section).
3.Download and copy the Toshiba RAID drivers to a removable media
Please, download the Toshiba RAID drivers from here:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/raid.rar
4.To perform a fresh install of Windows Vista, Follow the steps below
-1. Copy the contents of this archive onto a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.
-2. Insert your Microsoft Windows Vista Edition Bootable DVD.
-3. Power on your computer and press F12 to display the boot menu.
-4. Choose the option to boot from the CD/DVD drive.
-5. On the first setup screen, choose your language options then press "Next".
    -6. Press "Install Now".
-7. Type in your Product Key then press "Next".
-8. Accept the license terms by checking the box then press "Next".
-9. When asked "What type of installation do you want", press "Custom (advanced)".
-10. When asked "Where do you want to install Windows", make sure your media containing the Toshiba RAID drivers is connected to the computer, then click on "Load Driver".
-11. Browse to the location you have copied the RAID drivers to then press "OK".
-12. Setup will return to the previous screen, but it will show that you have selected the TOSHIBA RAID driver.
-13. Make sure the TOSHIBA RAID driver is selected then press "Next".
-14. Continue the installation of Windows Vista as normal.
    5. Go to Microsoft update and download all important updates available. If you wish you can install your native language, if other than English, from the Microsoft site.
let Windows install all the drivers found for your Qosmio G20.
    6. Reboot your machine and follow with the steps below.
    DRIVERS YOU MUST INSTALL:
    1. Alps pointing device driver (This is from Alps and working fine with your Qosmio G20)
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/alpsdriver.rar
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/qosmioalps.jpg
During the installation, Windows will complain that you are installing an early device driver. Do not attempt to this, Install it anyway.
This is because the Windows driver for this device is originally installed with a more recent date and version from that you are trying to install.
But the driver posting here is the correct from the Alps for your Qosmio g20.
    2. Bluetooth monitor and stack
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/bluetooth_mon.rar
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/bluetooth_stack.rar
    3. Nvidia display driver GeForce Go 6600
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/nvidia97.52.rar
To install the nvidia 97.52, you must do it manually:
    open the Device manager
look for the Video adapter/nvidia Gforce go6600
    Driver update options
Look for a driver in computer
Choose a list of device drivers in computer
    With disc...
Lool for the place you've extracted the nvidia 97.52.rar
Find the nvts.inf and open it
You will come to the following screen:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/qosmionvidiainstall.jpg
From a list choose your video card (go6600) and install it.
If you think it is difficult, please see the VIDEO Nvidiainstall.avi:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/nvidiainstall.rar
After the extraction, play it with Windows media Player
    4. Texas FlashMedia controller

5.SoundMAX integrated digital audio. Driver 5.12.1.5410
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/soundmax5.12.1.5410.rar
run the setup.exe and at first remove the driver you have installed on your Qosmio G20.
    reboot the computer
Run the setup.exe again and install the new driver. At some install point, Windows Vista will need a confirmation, if you trust Analog devices incorporated to goes on..
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/qosmiosoundmaxinstall.jpg
Continue with the installation and after finishing the process, test the functionallity of the new driver
    OR
If your G20 model is using the Sigmatel HD audio chipset, so you must install other driver than the Soundmax integrated digital audio
It is the SigmaTel HD Audio Driver for Windows Vista Version: 6.10.0.5324

  • Vista drivers problems Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Noteb

First thing to do: haveyour systemchecked out, if windows says the hardware is failing there may really be something wrong with it.
If the SB card works in an XP machine there may be a problem in the the PCI slot or controller on the motherboard, either way have a tech shop look at it. If thehardware allchecks out: before putting the card back in completely delete the old driver and software, download the new one without installing it, then put the card in and windows should try to auto-install with the new driver.P.S. the platinum version is the one with thecontrol panel that slots into a dri've bay, if you have one of those, it's a platinum, if not, it's a regulHi all, how are you
I have a Sony VAIO VGN-SZ430N/B notebook, and I'm trying to install Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook on it (Unfortunately, the notebook came with windows vista business from factory).
This notebook has a Texas Instruments PCMCIA controller.
Under "Device Manager" the PCMCIA controller is described as "Texas
Instruments PCI-8x2/7x2/6x2 CardBus Controller", but on Sony's
webpage the driver that seems to be related to it is "Texas
Instruments PCI74 Integrated FlashMedia Controller Driver".
It is kind of all in one solution from Texas Instruments (PCMCIA
controller, Memory Card reader, and Firewire controller).
Please, may someone help me to answer the questions bellow
1)Are there any kind of compatibility problem between this notebook PCMCIA controller (described above), and Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook
2)I've already brought this notebook to Sony's support service, so they could verify if there is any kind of hardware problem with the notebook. Sony's technician wasn't able to find any hardware problems on it, but I'm experiencing the problem described below:
2.)Every time that I plug this sound card on my notebook, and I try to install Creative's latest windows Vista drivers(Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series Vista Driver 2.2.0002), thus It leads me to a Blue Screen during the driver installation process. Please, Does somebody know what could be this problem root causeIt is very weird, even if i try to install this sound card on clean windows vista install, then it leads me to blue screen. Besides, I have another PCMCIA card from another manufacturer, and I was able to install its windows vista drivers with no problem.(It sounds that Creative labs' vista drivers is the problem root cause as I've tested this sound card on a different notebook with windows xp and It worked fine).
3)Does anyone know if creative is planning to release a windows vista driver that allows the users to use all of this sound card featuresSo far the latest driver available doesn't support even DVD-Audio. Have creative labs discontinued this product
I appreciate any help you can give me,
    thanks in advance,
    Rogerr ZS.

The best advice I can give is to fully remove ALL Creative software. We've compiled a list of entries that will cause problems here. It's very important before installing newer files.http://nomoregoatsoup.wordpress.com/...tall-problems/Then install some better drivers and see if that cures your issues. The 2.2.0002 drivers are really, really awful, 99% of people I've spoken to had problems with them. I personally like 2.5.0002 Hope this helps.

Does anybody have any idea when Windows Vista drivers will be released for the iPod?
I just got a 1 Gig Nano as a gift, and can't do anything with it. Well, I can charge the battery from my system. I don't have a receipt, so I can't exchange it for a 4 Gig. And I don't have the drivers, so I can't add music.
I may eventually be able to borrow somebody else's computer to add music to the thing, but I would rather like to be able to use my iPod with my computer.

How helpful of Microsoft to now start using acronyms to name its products. Take VISTA for instance, its new operaing system....it is now much later than originally planned in being delivered, it has less features than users were expecting, but at least it lives up to it's name.

    You are reading it wrong.
We have consumer products, i.e. the versions that consumers buy and which is supported under the Mainstream support.
Then there are Business and Developer products will and they will receive at least 10 years of online self-help support.
Your license will determine which category you fall in.

Extended Support is not offered for Consumer and Multimedia products.
We have just been through the XP fiasco. Its still supported for the industry, but consumers get no more updates.
Mainstream support ends Jan2015. That's the one that consumers are entitled to.
Maybe so, but I can't see how...  Here's another link to the same chart:
    http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/default.aspx?LN=en-us&x=8&y=13
Note the heading for the chart:
Phases of the Support Lifecycle for Business, Developer, Consumer and Multimedia Software
To me, that says that the consumer versions of Win7 go to extended support in 2015, in which the only updates people will receive for it until EoL in 2020 are security updates.  Exactly the same thing was done with XP, IIRC.  The only updates WinXP received for the past several years were security updates and regular updates for the XP version of MSE.  Why should Microsoft treat Win7 any different? As you see in the chart, paid-for support is in a different category from security updates.  You can get the same paid-for support in Windows 7 in the extended period that you can buy right now for Win7 in the mainstream period.  The only service carried forward into the extended period that will continue to be free of charge are the security updates as hotfixes, patches, and feature updates for Win7 will be discontinued when Win7 support shifts into extended support next year.
