Hi,yeah, like the title says everytime I turn on my player it freezes because of a song. Is there anyway that I can empty my Zen? everytime?I plug my Zen into my computer it turns on and loads,then goes to the original song that it is stuck on. I have pushed the resest button many times, but it always rebuilds the library and goes back to the stupid song. Advice? :smileyindifferent:?Thanks

MY creative zen m is fro

My zen seems to be frozen and i have tried almost everything. I have reboot it and it still is frozen. I have done the clean up and it gets frozen every time i try it. I do NOT want to erase everything on it since i have 35 gb filled up already. I need to know if there is a way to back up my memory on my computer anyway.

Also this is the first one i got was defecti've. the second one which would be this one the radio does not work at all and i called the technical support and they didn't even know what the hell was wrong. If i do not get this fixed and it erases all my **bleep**in memory i am switchin to an ipod no matter what.

Zen Touch is fro

I bought my Zen Touch in Sept 05, & built up a modest 900 tracks. Two weeks ago I turned it on, it showed 'now playing' but it had frozen. I could not turn it off. Reset turned it off and back on to its frozen state. I could not access Recovery Mode. Creative suggested letting battery run down, connect to charger and at 3rd attempt I was able to access Recovery Mode. Clean Up did not work. The Organiser prog does not recognise the player when I connect it to the PC so I cannot back up my tracks. Using skip or any other button did nothing. Format All and /or Reload Firmware would lose all content.
What a dreadful state of affairs. I know there are 900 tracks in this little box but Creative has no way of accessing them. This must be the worst product I have ever bought. The Zen Touch should come with a health warning to back up everything but I don't suppose Creative want to say how such a disastrous fault might happen.

I sympathise. To be fair, you wouldn't expect there to be a dead end, no-further-help-available scenario, but the bad news is, that's what appears to be on the cards.
The symptoms you describe are pretty similar to what happened to me. Though, through a huge amount of random retrying, I did get it to restart (I have no idea why it suddenly chose to, but after 6 days, it did, so keep trying!), and I was eventually able to back up my 2000 tracks before trying to solve the problem (it was still freezing).
But when I was finally able to access the recovery mode and do a disk clean up, and then try to reload the firmware (I tried to load all the available firmwares, including the PlayForSure Firmware, which DOES wipe the disk clean), the player wouldn't respond. In fact I'm now in a worse situation, cause I now have a non-responsi've and EMPTY mp3 player (see my thread, probably above).
So, no good news on that front as nobody appears to know the right solution (but thanks to all those who have made suggestions) and I am stuck with a ?70, 4 month-old empty dead turkey. A distinct absence of useful advice from anyone at Creative too, you'll notice.
So, it's not just you, and I'm afraid there are a number of us in a similar state of disappointment.
By another Creative product? Dunno. Who's to say this is not a problem that could happen to any MP3 player? All I know is that I would definitely think twice about it next time, especially when considering the aftersales support.

I hope someone can help.
My zen touch (20gb) player froze whilst turning off, i let it sit but eventually had to reset it to get it to go off, since then i havent been able to turn it back on and it wont charge, the blue charge indicating light doesnt appear and when i plug it in all i get is the creative logo and the copyright info, i've tried the reboot advice on creatives web page, but that desnt work either!!!
Any suggestions?

My zen touch freezes from time to time, done all the usual things without any improvement. But today discovered that it freezes when used near some electrical equipment for example my wife old treadmill which uses an ac motor, its ok with the new treadmill with a dc motor. So it appears that the zen touch suffers from electrical interference, generally this is in the rf range (radio frequency). I hope this helps many users as it was driving me crazy and it appears it's a huge problem with many people.

My creative zen froze about a month or two ago .. and i've been trying to get it to work... when the battery dies i plug it into the computer.. it charges but the computer doesnt detect the player so theres no way i can update firmware or anything to fix my freezing problem. The way it happened was while i was walking it changed to another song and then just froze there... so i took the battery out to turn it off thinking it would be ok, but from then on when its charged i turn it on and it freezes at the creative screen. I've come on the forums before to see how other people fixed their problems, yet all the ways they fixed their problems requires you to connect the mp3 to the computer. Also ii've tried to do that clean up that doesnt work either... please give me some suggestions or with a soultion thank you.

Zen Neeon completely fro

My son has the Zen Neeon, and it suddenly froze. I tried to reset it with a paper clip, but it won't even do that. It does make connection with my computer, and his laptop, but it won't do anything after that. It froze about 4 months ago, and the reset button worked, but not this time. I can't even get a logo on the screen, or anything. Can someone help me? Thanks!

Zen Sleek Photo Fro

Hey, I have a Zen Sleek Photo (20 GB) and after adding media to it, I removed the USB cable when it said it was okay to, and it froze on the "Please Wait. . ." screen. The lights are permanently on, I can't shut it off, and when I try to plug the USB cable back in, it says the computer doesn't recognize it. Please Help!. Thanks.

Zen Vision M fro

My Zen freezes up after I turn it on. It does the creative thing the shows ZEN on the screen but then just feezes up. It stays lit and everything but the screen is just black. I have put the latest verison of firmware on it, gone to recovery mode and reformated and scanned the disk or whtever it says. I'm not sure what else to do. Anyone have any advise. ( I have hand it for only like 7 months and it hadbeen working fine)

Mine did this two days ago. Woke up that morning, turned on the player and it got to ZEN, where it promptly froze. I was scared to death that my player had gone bad and usually none of the recovery methods fix the problem. Still, I ran a cleanup. Still, ZEN -> Frozen.
However, after reloading the firmware, my ZV:M began its normal operation. Personally, I think the new firmware released a few days ago might be another crapper. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Zen V Plus Fro

This summer, I was listening to my Zen V Plus when it suddenly froze. All the buttons stopped working, including the power switch. I just waited for it to die, because at that time, I hadn't discovered the reset button. That has happened once or twice since then. Does anyone know why this happens, or how I can fix it's (I just read the post on the recovery mode, and I'm going to try the disk cleanup now.) I've tried resetting it and rebooting it, everything that has been suggested. The song will come on then the screen will go to the "seek" then the joy stick won't change anything.....it is frozen, with the song playing, but unable to change the volumn?

) Take Out Battery
2) Hole power switch down (keep holding it to on postition)
3) insert battery
4) Let go of power button.
then try disk clean up, formate and finally if worse comes to worse relod os..if non of those work then send it back

Zen Xtra 40 fro

My Zen Xtra 40gb freezes on the EAX screen. No recovery features work and it will not connect to my PC at any time. I have seen other people on here with the same problem. I was wondering if anyone sent theirs in to Creative to be repaired - how much it cost to be fixed or replaced. Mine is 3wks out of warranty and I am trying to decide if I should bother sending it in or just get something else.

Anecdotally it won't be that cheap, it could be as much as US$00 for what is effecti'vely a board replacement (although Creative are likely just to give you a new player). The only way to know for sure is to contact Creative.

Hi I hope someone out there can help me. My MP3 is frozen at the recovery screen and everytime I try to update the firmware it stops halfway thru any suggestions. This is driving me crazy.Kim

Customer Support says that I have to replace/repair my device. It will cost me, just the shipping @25$, thereafter, the cost will depend on the problem. But if the problem is the hard driver, they will need to replace it.
My device is just a little bit older than 4 months. I wasn't a frequent user, not even every day. Mainly,?I just used it ?for recording, and I was very stupid and didn't save the last recordings!!
!!! I already lost the confidence in this devices (CREATIVE LAB).
They have to create a more efficient system that doesn't break down so easy. Do you imagine that your computer were working so badly? I think Creative Lab doesn't know how to work with nano technology yet.

Mp3 player ZEN TOUCH just fro

hey guys...im disappointed...
i was so happy that finally the firmware update works...but now i put some music on and plaed some files and deleted some files...now it's frozen!!!! there still a picture on it and yesterday evening when it was already frozen, i put turn the blue lgiht on but now nothing works...
i treid to put a paper clip in the hole but then nothing happens...(i think i can't get through to a button in the hole^^)
please help ;=)

Is it possible that your battery might be worn out or defecti've? If a fully charged battery only lasts a very short period, there would either be a problem with the player cutting off at the incorrect voltage or the battery itself is not capable of holding much of a charge.
