Zen V Lockup/freezing problems! Help plea

I have a Zen V 2gb with the latest firmware, and it was working fine for about a month, but now it locks up randomly when I press the middle button on the fi've way joystick. Does anyone know what's wrong? I tried reformatting, and everything. This problem is very frustrating. Please help if you can.

Hmmm... I really don't know how to make an appealing message title, do I?

  • Zen Micro 5GB - Installation problems - HELP ple

    Dear All
I am sure must have been asked before, so please bear with me.
Just bought a Zen Micro and cannot seem to install the supplied software from the CD. Keep getting a InstalWizard 6003 error message. Have tried restarting, deleting temporary files (even connevting to net) and still get same message.
Have tried to install then by copying files to harddri've and running from there but that fails.
What am I to do or have I a dud?
    All suggestions greatefull recieved.
    Andy

I was also thinking - how's your cd player on the pc - is it generally ok ?
try copying the files from the cd to your hard dri've and running from there.
Sometimes you can get -6003 errors if some of the source files are unreadable for any reason.
If that fails then i suggest downloading from creatives website and trying the install again incase you just have a dud cd.
Seeing as you've just got it i'll also tell you from my own experience......
I have a zen micro 5gb bought it about 3 months ago and had no problems with the installation but that was on a fully patched up to date winxp sp2 with 2Ghz memory.
I did have issues with the zen micro itself hanging but i upgraded to the 2..02 firmare beta and it has been happy ever since.

  • Zen Xtra 60 gig problem, help requi

    hello
i have a nomad juxebox zen xtra 60 gig, and it has worked fine for several months.
recently, i had a problem that when i was listening to a track, parts of other tracks would interrupt the song, before switching back to the original song. this would only last for a second or so, and not all the time, rarely in fact
since then, and my current situation, the player when loaded up has gone into "rebuilding library" mode, and has seemed to fail in doing so, "firmware problem" has appeared on the screen and the blue light is on.
it doesnt do anything else until i turn it off.
so , can anyone help me? is there a way to sort this out?
    thanks in advance

The link is near the bottom of the FAQ and called "I have a "firmware problem" error". It'll take you to this page. You can of course use find and just enter "firmware problem" on the FAQ page.

  • Zen Touch audio view list help plea

I just got a new Zen Touch, which I love by the way, the only problem I have is that when I view the songs on my Touch player, it only shows the track title, and nothing else. This is whether I go into the All Tracks option, the Artist folders, genre folders. I have a lot of songs, and being able to see only the track title is kinda pointless as i have no idea who they are by! Before anyone mentions, yes my ID3 tags, both v and v2, are done properly. On one of the pictures in the manual I can see the example which I want something like "beethoven - symphony", which is exactly what im after. At the moment all i'm geting is "symphony". Once the song is playing, all is fine i can see the artist and album name, but i really would like if i could see the artist information in list view, especially in the all tracks section
Any help would be great, thanks!
Heres what I want mine to do:

    I agree,
the detail view is totally uncomfortable if you have a long playlist of 300 songs or so....
I have about 2500 (average 8 min long) tracks on my player (electronica and trance stuff), so if I want to check out what is comig up next, then the title view is pretty useless (therefore I renamed all my tags in the way described as above).
An other problem I think is that the text?s horizontal scrolling is pretty slow i you have long titles - for example:
a track with the title "Digital Mistery Tour - Smokemon (Chiluemon Mix)"
will scroll too long while playing (the scrolling in the playlist view is OK)...
    greetings

  • Zen 20g recovery firmware installation help plea

    Hi,
I have a brand new Zen 20g and have installed the s/w onto my pc (XP) and am trying to connect the player. I had constant problems so rang support and they sent me the recovery firmware so that I could re-install the firmware. I managed to delete the firmware on the device, but am having SO much trouble installing the new stuff. I get to the point where the device says to initiate the new install via USB, so I click the Zen__00_02.exe and select English for my language, and then nothinhg seems to happen - but if I disconnect the device I get a popup saying that the device is disconnected.
I can't seem to find any info on installing firmware - ie what it should look like. Can someone help please?
    Thanks.

Never disconnect a player when running a firmware update, you could damage the player beyond easy repair. If you must disconnect (because the update isn't happening) wait at least 0 or 5 minutes before disconnecting, at which point clearly the upgrade isn't happening.
You might be better to reload the OS, that is to erase the firmware on the player itself, then connect it to the PC and reload. If this doesn't work on your PC then install the drivers on another PC and try there. If this doesn't work either then you'll need to contact Creative Support again.
I'm not exactly sure how you get into the rescue mode with the Zen 20Gb, but I assume you either keep the power switch or play held down, then press the tiny reset switch.

  • Creative Zen 8GB locking freezing problem

)CMy creative zen is actibg up a bit. I locked it recentlly, to conserve the battery. However, it just froze there. My Player is not locked, but is still displaying the locked logo, without going to a black screen. Whenever I press a button, it doesn t respond. It goes to idle shutdown after the set 5 minutes. I have tried the recovery tool
ANY ideas are welcome. Im starting to become desperate.
    thanks

The reset is one of those things you may need to do repeatedly before it works. Have you tried while it is connected to a wallcharger or the computer? If you haven't do so.

  • MDD freezing problem can anyone help?

    Hey
Ive been having quite majer problems with my mac. It crashes regularly and im not sure why. It will freeze any time even when running safari and has been known to do it 5 times in one day!!! These are the possable problems i can think of.
    1. Hardware problem though i have tested all my ram with memtest and the apple hardware test Cd and it says its fine.
    2. i was thinking my mac could be overheating, can this cause it to crash? At the moment its is running at 58.3 *C and all im running is safari, im not even running any widgets. The CPU fan is almost always on (though not at full speed) even when running just safari and i think the barings in the fan could be on their way out because it doesnt sound like the fan is running smoothly at all.
Would it be worth buying a new fan and getting a copper heatsink to bring the temperature down? Im not sure if i should do this in case it doesnt work as it well set me back over £100, if there is no way of finding and fixing the problem i was thinking of getting a macpro though as im a student it will take me about a year to get my hands on that kind of cash
If it helps these are the specs of my mac:
    Powermac G4 MDD 1.25DP
    1.5GB RAM
OSX 10.4.8 (im running this beacuse 10.4.9 is incompatable with final cut HD 3.0)
    GForce 4MX
    1X 80GB PATA
    1X 200GB PATA
ASUS DVD R (put in a week ago though there were problems with crashing before this)
Can anyone give me some advice on what to do?
    Thanks
    Tom

Assuming you are reading that CPU temperature with Temperature Monitor software, the specified upper limit for your CPU is 62 degrees C. Therefore, 58.3 degrees shouldn't be causing your freeze problems. Look for other possibilities.
Not that this is your problem, but a friend's upgraded Sawtooth G4 started having freeze problems in Tiger after running several months without any problems. Turns out he had his old DVD-ROM in a Firewire box connected via Firewire to his G4 and the unit started crapping out. Still not sure if the core problem is the DVD-ROM drive or the Firewire case or the Firewire connection, but disconnecting the unit ended his suddenly arising freeze problems.
Try using your MDD G4 with all Firewire and USB (except the keyboard and mouse of course) stuff disconnected from the tower case. If that ends your freezes, it will be a simple process of elimination to find the offending USB or Firewire item.
    Good luck,
    Carl B.

  • Freezing up problem - help or I never buy Toshiba products AGAIN!

My Satellite Toshiba computer is constantly freezing now.  This started last Nov. 2008, I had my geek guy uninstall & reinstall my entire operating system.  It worked fine for a few months, then started freezing up again (I had a virus at that time)
He did what he did & it started working fine again.  Now it's not.
I have ESET NOD32 Antivirus which runs complete scans:  I have no virus
I have REG CURE & that cleans my registry & what not
I have Firewall & I update Windows stuff all the time.
I am doing everything any normal laptop user would do to avoid problems.
Reading through all these posts on this Toshiba site tells me that MANY people are having Freezing problems.
Freezing happens when I am doing ANYTHING operating no particular website or program & it freezes, it freezes when I'm not typin anything, sometimes I'll leave my computer to go to another room & when I come back it's frozen.  I'm in the middle of typing a word doc or in adobe or on yahoo or anywhere it's constantly freezing.
I have owned this Toshiba Laptop for 3yrs now (Yahoo answer ppl said Toshiba laptops just stop working right after 3yrs)  Looks like they're right.
Will I EVER got this problem solved or do I need to go out and buy a new laptop & NEVER BUY TOSHIBA PRODUCTS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????????????  Help

My new toshiba laptop is frozen. I can't go any where. I can't even go to control panel. Please advise me.

  • Everytime i eject my ipod and reconnect it all my music is gone. and sometimes while i try adding music to it. itunes completely freezes. please help. and sometimes when i plug it back into my PC i have to rename my ipod and such

Everytime i eject my ipod and reconnect it all my music is gone. and sometimes while i try adding music to it. itunes completely freezes. please help. and sometimes when i plug it back into my PC i have to rename my ipod and such

Antivirus has a tendency to freeze iTunes sync Operation with iPod Classic, causing a timeout, which corrupt your iPod filesystem, so when iTunes can't read the iPod, it is pointing to this problem. Other causes is when your iPod hardisk is dying, or your battery is dying causing hardisk crashes.
    My suggestion.
Connect your iPod to the PC and run chkdsk, to fix any iPod diskerror, then disconnect it, after chkdsk complete.
Disconnect your PC from Internet. (just to make sure no nasties creep into your system while you syncing.
    Stop the Antivirus program
Connect your Ipod to the PC
When iTunes Open up, Restore your iPod please, this is for iTunes to map correctly, to fix the corrupted filesystem.
When Restore complete, eject the iPod and reconnect again.
Sync your ipod, preferably manually Manage in small batches and disconnect after every batch, to check that all is well, since you got such a huge library.
When all sync is complete, and iPod disconnected, start back your Antivirus and connect back the Internet.
If this doesn't resolve your problem, then let me know.
    Good Luck!

  • Zen Vision 30GB Firmware Problem - No solution wo

I have a Zen Vision 30GB (not a Zen Vision M or W, just a Zen Vision). On Friday I was trying to add songs to my Zen and halfway through adding the songs I got an error on the computer saying "player not connected". So I undocked the player, turned it off and reset my computer. Saturday morning I turned on my Zen to try to add songs again and I got the error message on my Zen?"Firmware Problem" and it put me in "Recovery Mode". The first thing I did was try to reload the firmware, but when I plugged the Zen to the computer it says "docked", but I cannot move through the menu. When I unhook it from the computer I can move through the menu. BTW I am running Windows Vista 32-bit. I have uninstalled the Zen software and installed the software off the Creative website for Vista, but when I try to run the firmware it says "Player not connected, please connect player."? When I plug the player in via USB my computer recognizes it and prompts me if I want to sync my player, so there isn't anything wrong with my USB connection. The?Device Manager recognizes it however Windows Media Player does not. I get the same error message when I try to do the Recovery Tool on the Creative website. I have looked for solutions on the forums and just doing Google searches, but I have not been able to get anything to work. Please help me!? The player is less than a year old. I have never had any problems with it before, never been dropped or anything like that, so i am not sure what is going on. Any help or suggestions would be great!? I sent an email to customer support yesterday and the reply I received this morning was no help. First they thought I had the Zen Vision M, even though I specifically said I had the Zen Vision and gave them the serial number and everything. I sent them back a message today and hopefully they can help, but it is frustrating having to send an email and wait around for a reply.

  • Zen Vision M 30GB Problems

Zen Vision M 30GB Problems? I have a used Zen Vision M 30 GB. I have?a few questions, along with some problems.
My player has to "rebuild" at least twice a day, is that normal?
When a song is playing, is the song name, length of song, etc supposed to be displayed?
    Now the major problem:
I can not get either my laptop or desktop to recognize my player.
On the desktop (Windows XP?SP3)?it seems to constantly refresh the Device Manager as an MTP device. while it continues to do this I can see the device is giving me a Code 0.
On the laptop (Windows Vista) it searches for a driver, but the search fails. It does not continuously refresh, but still gives me the same "Code 0 This device can not start" message.
On both computers it says "Docked" on the player when plugged in and also charges.
The player plays well once it makes it through the "Rebuilding" stage.
I thought about formatting it, but?I was not sure that would do any good with this problem. Plus there was a lot of music left on the player from the previous owner that I rather like.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,? Thanks

No rebuilding that often if not normal. You seem to be having symptoms of hardri've issues. Now have you done a cleanup>reboot on the player?CHARGE PLAYER BEFORE DOING THIS? http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ap&thread.id=3? That may help with the constant need to rebuild(kinda like defragging the dri've) Use a REAR usb port when connecting to the computer & try using a different usb cable. DO NOT CHOOSE RELOAD FIRMWARE ON THE RECOVERY MENU

  • I know how to fix the iTunes 7 / firmware ver. 1.2 freeze problem

Many of you (like me) are having major headaches because of the new updates that Apple has been releasing (i.e. iTunes 7). So far I only know that this affects the Video iPod, but this could very well fix other models too.
Here are some symptoms of what the following will fix, and what you most likely have already done to try and fix it.
    - iPod keeps freezing after a few seconds ever since you updated to iTunes 7 and/or iPod software ver. 1.2.
    - iPod will remain in Do Not Disconnect mode even after ejecting or disconnecting
    - A forced reset does not fix it, as it repeats the above.
    - Restoring the iPod through iTunes does not help
    So, here's what to do.
The old iPod updater software is how you will fix all of this. Unfortunately, because iTunes 7 thinks that it's better and more up to date, it will prevent you from opening the old version of the software if you still have it on your machine.
So first of all, uninstall iTunes 7.0. (You do not have to remove your library information, just the software.) Restart the computer.
If you still have the old iPod updater, try it and see if it runs. If it does, read on. If not, skip to the next paragraph. So, if it does run, simply hit Restore and you can go back to a previous version of the firmware. I believe that Apple discontinued the firmware page since releasing iTunes 7. Look around some search engines like Google if you really want the latest firmware.
Take out the installation CD that came with your iPod. Run it and it should install the old iPod updater along with iTunes 6.x. iTunes 6.x cannot run since iTunes 7 changed your libary's formatting, but that will not be a problem. Run the Restore process in the old updater and it should be alright for you to start loading your stuff on again without problems.
Since iTunes 7 reformatted your libary listing, iTunes 6 will no longer work. However, you can still use it by reinstalling iTunes 7. Just make sure you do the following.
TO KEEP THE SAME THING FROM HAPPENING AGAIN
iTunes 7 is actually alright. It's the updater part of it that will screw up your iPod.
    - iTunes 7 will tell you that a new iPod software version is available when you open it.
    - Check the "Never Ask Again" box and click Don't Install.
    - When you sync your iPod to your computer, NEVER touch the Version section when you're changing your iPod's settings. Everything else is alright to work with.
    - Everything will work fine as long as you never update the iPod's software via iTunes, at least until the programmers can fix this issue in a later release or patch.
I hope this helps out a lot of you. Pretty lame of Apple to miss something this big during debugging.
    Custom Windows XP

Listen to this person, he knows exactly what he's talking about. My unit had the freezing problem, the visual artifact problem, and eventually would only show a blank white screen after I had tinkered too long. Luckily I have another computer that I hadn't yet upgraded to itunes 7 and it had the last firmware upgrade before the itunes 7 one. From disk mode I was able to restore it to the previous firmware version, and now the ipod works perfectly.
I too am almost disqusted with Apple for 1) missing this problem and 2) not letting people know!
I wonder how many more people are going to have lots of problems so apple can protect their PR.
Anyways, what would be really helpful would be if someone could upgrade the latest firmware installer before itunes 7 (it's an individual ipod updating program, not itunes 6.xx)somewhere on the internet so users could download it and do away with this evil 1.2 firmware.

I had freezing problems on my Toshiba and decided to refresh it with full windows 8.1 DVD I purchased separately,
Toshiba initially had Vista. I bought upgraded to Win 8 pro 64 and then to 8.1 pro 64
Toshiba didn't provide any restoration discs or anything. Windows 8 refresh wouldn't work, said was missing files and wouldn't accept my Win 8 upgrade downloaded file as a refresh media source. So I went out and bought Win 8.1.
