Zen v manual needed

I just was given a "new" refurbished zen v, still in the sealed box, and for some reason there is no disc included.
I downloaded the Creative Media Explorer from this site, so I can use the player but the only manual I have been able to find is the quick start manual, very little information there. I searched on this? forum, and any links to the full manual don't have the manual for? this player.
Can anyone please? give me a link to the full manual for a zen v?

Hi Bobwise,
There is a knowledge base article on the usage of this player. Hope this is what you are looking for.

  • Zen Micro problem need help

Today i was listening to music and my zen micro just froze while playing and no buttons could be pressed and the lock button wasnt on. So i took the battery out and rebooted the player but it froze at the creative screen. I went home and i went to recovery mode and tried to reload the firmware but it said erasing firmware for more than 2 hours. So then i tried a format but it said formating for the same amount of time. I need help please. Also, recently i've had problems witht the headphone jack. When ever i would stick it in it would sound distorted and i would have to move it around until i got it to a certain spot to hear it good again. If anyone else has this problem please tell me. One more thing i had returned my other micro zen in for hard dri've probems and this was my new one do u think if i have to return in (hopefully not) that they would accept it.

If the functions in Rescue Mode aren't working properly then you need to contact Creative Support.

  • Zen Xtra In need of major software package upd

I don't know about other people, but I have a lot of songs. Lots! Anyway, there are several features that the Nomad Explorer and Suite lack.
To start, let's say I need to update several tags of my songs. I get my computer's tag editor up, and do all that. Now the files are updated, but how do I 'sync' those files with the player? Not possible. I have to delete them from the player and then send them again. Of course I could get into the Nomad Explorer and update them there, but why do that when I just had a program do that for me on my local files? I like using Windows Media Player to 'sync' my files, but that only checks for the presence of a song, not the correct tag information. Something about the player needs to be updated whether it be the firmware or the Creative software. I should not be forced into using MediaSource (I've used it before and it makes my computer run too slowly), because I like having the freedom of not being tied down to dare I say iTunes. But let's think about it, Apple has a good thing goin on that, once you plug your player in, you can see all the files, and you can sync it with your computer including the tag stuff.
Next, would there be any possible way we could actually play the music off our player without transferring the files? My brother has an iPod, and I love it how he can just walk up to his computer, and plug it in and play it thru his speakers like that.
Also what about random play. I would really like it if there were some sort of way to play all songs in random order, but leave some songs (or rather recordings...etc) out of that list. There are files on my player that I like to listen to, but there should be a way to keep some songs on the 'don't play during random play all songs list'. See what I'm sayin? Ok lets make an extreme case. Let's say I have 5k songs, and then 20 audiobooks (I don't really, but just work with me here). When I go to "Play Any Track," there should be some way of excluding those audiobooks.
Thank you for listening to my concerns. I'm fairly sure there are others that would deeply appreciate these features. I can also say without hesitation that iPod customers are very happy with their product because features like these are available. All I'm sayin is you are got me sold on your product, but could you release some software updates?

The Creative software can't do it, but?the freeware Nomadsync?can.

Yep. MediaSource does this if you're using USB2. If using USB or USB2 there are other solutions as well, such as?the freeware JBHTTP?and the Xtreamer function in the shareware Notmad Explorer.

I agree, but currently the only way to do it is using a playlist which you have to setup manually. One easy way would be to have a genre tag that is excluded from this list.

  • Manual needed

Is it just me or does going through these forums point to the need for a manual for Itunes software? For instance - what do the symbols mean? When one of my tunes is 'greyed out'? When there are/are not check marks beside a tune/podcast? How is the filing system automatically set up and what changes can I make to it, if any? What effect does changing the name of a podcast have (some series are not named so that they play sequentially)?

    Like the information found here?
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/
Or in the Help Menu? Typing the word "symbols" into the search box in iTunes Help brought up a comprehensive list of the symbols and they're meanings. One of the selections under the Help menu is Keyboard Shortcuts, one I find especially useful.
Searching Support will also give you access to the Knowledge Base articles. They are quite extensive.
If none of those sources of information are sufficient, there are numerous 3rd party books available.
    Best of luck.

  • Zen neeon firmware need

mine is zen neeon ..Accidentally i've format my player now i dont have any drivers or firmwares...there are firmwares and drivers in the creative download page ..but they are'nt supporting windows 7....Can anyone give me a Solution..
    Thanks in Advance..

Re: zen neeon firmware needKHello Inshafrockz,
    Welcome to Creative forums!
You may need to look for a computer with an older OS that works with the firmware update. Check the requirements under the release notes. The (compatible) OS for you to run the firmware is listed there.
For ZEN Neeon 52MB/ GB/ 2GB? the requirements are:
Microsoft? Windows? XP, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium or Windows 98 Second Edition<
USB . port (USB 2.0 recommended for faster transfers)<
    For ZEN Neeon 5GB/ 6GB?:
Microsoft? Windows? XP, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium Edition (Me) or Windows 98 Second Edition (SE)<
Available USB port (version . or higher)<
    Hope this hel

  • Zen Xtra software - need HELP!

Hi, Just bought a Zen Xtra 40 GB from a friend. I am totally confused about just about everything, and found today that the Nomad Primer has disappeared! But, my software question:
I am trying to figure out what software I need to update or install on my computer/player, etc. I don't understand if my firmware and MediaSource software is old or new or what?
I am running Windows XP Service pack 2, all up to date. The Zen I just bought is a year old. The firmware on it says it is: version .03.02. My MediaSource software says it is: version 2.02.06.
Do I need to update? If so, which updates do I need? If I install new firmware, will it erase all the music on my player? I am desperately trying to back up my Zen music library onto my computer, but everything keeps going wrong. Maybe it's my software?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    TBeatles67,
Go to the website and download the following updates.
. Drivers - Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03 (.3 MB)
    2. MediaSource update - Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 (52.2 MB)
    3. Nomad Plugin - Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource (9.72 MB)
If you intend to update the firmware, just go for the version .xx.xx update that's available on the website. It shouldn't delete the files in the player but like any electronics device, anything can go wrong anytime so I would also suggest backing up your data/audio files in the player first just in case.

    Hi!
I just got the Zen Micro (5 GB). I installed the cd, and I'm not sure what firmware is, and if it's already installed or I have to do it myself. I didn't read anything in the instructions that said anything about it. What is it and why do I need it's Where do I get it's I tried to transfer songs, but when I plug in the USB cable to my Zen Micro, it says.. "Player not found". ? Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong? Sorry! I'm not very computer or technology savy. So help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
    Karen

haha thanks for the quick reply!
okay, next Q. do i need to update my firmware? i would assume my zen came with the most updated version since i just bought it. i don't know if it matters where i bought it however. i got it from amazon.com
i did install everything that was on the CD. including things that i already had, such as windows media player and acrobat.
any other suggestions for why it says "Player not found"?
i did reboot and clean up the memory twice to see if it would fix it but to no avail.
also, the screen freezes on me sometimes and i have to reboot. ?
    thanks!

  • Erased firmware zen touch i need h

erased my firmware on my zen touch. ?now i cant download the new one off the site it wont let me like a i did before. ?what can i do to fix it's i need some help........thank you

Same thing happened to me as well. I wanted to update my Vision:M 30gb to the latest version because it had been freezing alot lately, so i Reformatted it in the Recovery Menu, and saw the Reload Firmware, and i figured this is how i update the firmware. It erased the firmware, and now my player is rendered useless because the update doesnt detect my MP3 Player even though my computer does.
I wonder if anyone could perhaps send me a backup of the Vision:M system files or something? Nothing else seems to work, i tried rolling back to WMP 0 to no avail, not sure what else i can do, and i dont really wanna RMA it since its just a software issue.

  • Pavilion a305w; Lost my manual, need to know how to copy 3 1/2 Inch Disk to CD.

I have a Pavilion a305w which has both 3 1/2 inch disk bay and cd bay, and have primarily used 3 1/2 disks. Now have a new computer with only cd bay. Need information currently on 3 1/2 to be transferred to cd. I have been under the impression that can be done on the a305w, but have misplaced my manual and don't know how to do it, assuming it is possible. Questions: Is it possible, and if so, how?

Copying a 3.5" floppy disk to CD-R is a three-step process, as listed here

  • ZEN 4GB I NEED HELP PLE

I need help with this Zen 4gb, installed cd,stumped on next step, I want to download music and then play it on my player.

With the Zen 4gb, you have 3 options as to how you can transfer the mp3 or wma from your computer to it.
First method is?to use the provided Creative Media Explorer which you installed from the CD.
Second method is to use Windows Media Player to Sync your Music to your player.
Third method is to use Windows Explorer to drag and drop the songs to your player. You should see a Zen icon in your Windows Explorer and as long you put the music in the Music Folder, it would work.
Make sure that all your songs contain the ID3 tags which includes the Song title, Album Name, Track Number and Artiste Name.

  • I have an ancient Zen...Need support with firmware updates/itunes use/drivers/idk what the heck e

I have a really really old Zen. It's full title is "Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra" or something of the sort. Recently I bought a ton of music off iTunes and realized I could not burn it to CDs and could not transfer it to my Creative using the software I'm currently using. And then, someone told me that there was a "pulg-in" that could be downloaded to transfer iTunes music to my Creative. (She also had the same player) Now the only problem is... I've never updated software for my Creative, never downloaded anyhting other than music to it. And I have no idea where to start. If anyone knows what I have to do... or where to start, please please please let me know. It would be really nice to get my music from iTunes to my Creative.
My specs - For the Creative Medai Source organizer I'm running the 2.02.06 version. And for the actual player I have no idea. Probably somethign similiar I'm pretty sure the player was bought in 2003... If someone tells me how to check the players verision I'll gladly do it.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Due to the age of the player, I imagine it's extremely unlikely that Creative will update software and firmware so that your player will work with newer OS. I fear the same thing happening to my Zen Touch - it's a great bit of kit, built like a tank, surperb sound quality, battery still lasts forever, but the latest PlaysForSure firmware upgrade is probably going to be the last and then my player will be obsolete. No company is going to support old products forever - how will they sell their latest products? This built-in lifespan of?many electronic devices is a sign of our consumer market I'm afraid.
