ZEN V+ Not Recognized (Now after ripping err

OK, I see that I am not the only one with this problem.
My daughters ZEN V+ was working fine this morning, she ripped and loaded 5-20 songs when it gave her an error. Since that time the Media Explorer will not see that the player is attached.
I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled it.
Changed the USB registry thing.
Upgraded to WMP .
Reomoved the player from the Device Manager, and it installed when it was plugged back in.
However the software used for the Media Explorer still does not recognize the unit.
Very frustrated here, especially since the unit was working great this morning.
Need help.

I am having the same problems!
!!! Now my Zen will not turn on. How is a 2 child supposed to use this if her mom can't? I am not the only one experiences problems, my daughters friend also got one and her dad took it back to the store 2 times before he got one that actually worked. I have called customer service and after spending over an hour on the long distance phone call they were unable to help me and I eventually figured it out myself only to have it tell me the device was not connected IN THE MIDDLE OF DOWNLOADING!!

  • Zen Micro not recognized by Creative software after firmware upgr

I had really old firmware, so I upgraded it to the latest version (2.2.02). Immediately after doing so, I noticed my Micro appears in Windows and is recognized by Windows Media Player (I'm using v0, not the new beta).
But it's not recognized by the Zen Micro Media Explorer or by the Creative MediaSource Organizer, which I was hoping to use to reconstruct my playlists easily. Explorer claims the player is not connected.
Upgrading my drivers (to .30.03) and Creative software (to 3.30.2) did not fix the problem.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

    rs93,
You need to install the MTP plugin for MediaSource and also update your copy of the Zen Micro Media Explorer to a version that support the new firmware. All the above can be downloaded from the website.

  • ZEN v Not Recogni

Hi, well my computer does not recognise my Zen v 2GB with the message "USB Device Not Recognized" when I plug it into a USB port.
I have the software installed that came with the CD and windows media player does not pick it up.
Under the device manager the MP3 player is listed as "Unknown Device" and I had tried updating it from there but with no luck.(Also when I right click on it and go to properties then click on "Driver details" it says "No driver files are required or have been loaded to this device" )
Now this has not always been the case. You see I upgraded my computer (New Motherboard, RAM and CPU) and I had to format it. I have all of the windows drivers installed also other MP3 player devices seem to work one of which is an IPOD and the other is an old mp3 player which both are picked up by windows. I had tried using different USB ports as well but that did not help. Also the mp3 player does switch on but it is on low battery. (And it won?t charge as the icon does not show).
If someone could help me with this I would appreciate it as I have a long train journey next week.

Well, it IS the week after Christmas... Sure we could overhire 300%, but then we'd have to charge more for our products. Not exactly a win-win situation here.

  • Zen V not recognized and unknown error transf

    Hello,
This is my third Zen during the past two years, and none of them seem to work for at least one week. I bought a Zen V 4GB and have had it for two days and it is already not functioning correctly. I noticed that my songs would be transferred, but everytime I tried to transfer pictures, they just wouldn't. The reason it would give was "unknown error". I decided to download every update I could find for the Zen V (firmware, media source, etc), but the updates wouldn't finish installing correctly (the Zen would freeze after reboot, etc). I had to format the Zen and then install everything all over again, after that, the updates managed to install correctly. Afterwards, I successfully transferred pictures. I turned off the Zen, and when I later tried to transfer music, the unknown error message would appear again, and also other error messages such as "insufficient disk space", which was impossible because I had only transferred 68 pictures. I formated the Zen V once again, and gave it a "reload firmware". I managed to transfer some pictures and music afterwards, but, as soon as I disconnected the player, and connected it again to transfer more stuff, the error messages appeared again. As my patience was wearing thinner by the second, I disconnected the player, and connected it again. Now, the computer doesn't recognize it at all. The Zen V appears to be docked, though it sometimes appear as if it were charging and sometimes it doesn't, but still the computer doesn't recognize it. It says that the player isn't connected. I did notice that on my taskbar, the icon of "Safely Remove Hardware" began to appear. I double clicked it, thinking that the computer was recognizing the?player as a mass storage device, but there were no devices or components displayed on the window.
I really don't know what to do anymore, and I'm tired of having to format it, just so that it'll work correctly once. I don't know if I'm not doing something right, or whatever it is. I just feel very dissapointed. These problems were very similar to?the ones my other Zens (I had?a Zen Micro and Zen MicroPhoto before). Creative just keeps coming up with great innovati've products, but the same problems appear in?every one of them, what's up with that?I really need help with this... Any suggestions? Thank you.

I am having the same problems!

  • Zen Micro not recognized - 1 millionth complai

I've read scores of posts on this topic: my Zen Micro isn't recognized by my computer.
When I connect the player to my computer, I get a message that the "usb device is not recognized" and the player itself freezes and the only solution is to remove the battery.
I'm using the v2.-firmware. My pc uses WindowsXP Home Edition, SP2.
    Things I've already tried:
    - uninstalled and reinstalled the creative drivers and software
    - downloaded every possible driver or software update the creative website has to offer for my OS
    - tried another usb slot and another usb cable
    - updated the usb drivers
    - uninstalled the usb ports and reinstalled them
    - in the hardware list, double clicked the "unknown device" that should be the player and tried to manually direct it to the correct drivers
    - connected another Zen Micro to my pc, this one also isn't recognized
    - connected my Zen Micro to another pc running Linux, this works!
    - cleaned up the disk in the recovery menu
    - went to the regedit menu, adjusted the permissions in hkey_local_machine>system>Enum
All of these were possible solutions I found online, but none of them work. I already contacted Tech Support through e-mail, but the only advice they give me are things I've already tried, even though I specifically mention the list of all the things I've already tried in EVERY e-mail I exchange with them.
One thing they also advized me to do, is to reload the firmware, but this is impossible since the computer won't recognize that the player is indeed connected to it.
The funny thing is, if I remove all the creative drivers and software and then reinstall it all, there's a slim chance of it working again -- temporarily. Sometimes the player is still not recognized, sometimes it gets recognized by the pc but not by the software, sometimes it'll work perfectly but only once. In this case, it'll work for just that moment but the next day, when I reconnect the player (without even rebooting the pc or anything) it'll just go back to the same old "usb device not recognized" message.
Is this the time when I'm officially allowed to get desperate?

    Daniel,
    thanks for your reply!
I'd already installed the hotfixes your referred to, but did so again - just to make sure. Unfortunately, the problem remains...
st time I connected the player after installing the hotfixes, I didn't get any "usb device not recognized"-message. The player was listed in Device Manager, but unfortunately the software still didn't acknowledge that a player was connected (I tried Creative MediaSource Organizer and Windows Media Player 0). Meanwhile, the player itself still freezes. You get as far as the "now playing" screen, but it doesn't go to the "connected" screen you're supposed to see when you've connected your player and you're going to transfer data. Again, the only way to shut down the player was to remove the battery.
2nd time I reconnected it, I suddenly got a "new hardware found" message. A few seconds later the pc reports that the new hardware is installed correctly and is ready for use, followed by the old "usb device not recognized" message. Player is frozen, as usual.
3rd time. Back to square one: player is frozen and I get the old "device not recognized" message again.

  • Zen Micro not recognized on one PC but is fine with 2 oth

Before I get totally frustrated with my PC, not the new Zen Micro 6g, what could I be overlooking to get the software and the PC to recognize this unit's This PC has Windows XP (no service packs installed), and after restoring system and reinstalling the software, I have the same problem: I connect the Zen to the USB cable, it says "Found New Hardware" and then proceeds to want to reinstall the software and drivers again from the CD. Naturally, it should have picked up the installed software and drivers but it hasn't.
On my other 2 PCs, one with Win XP sp2 and the other, my Toshiba laptop with Windows Media Player 2005 Edition, no problems at all. Immediately recognized the player after installation of the software and drivers.
I am almost at the point of not bothering to install it on the last PC as it works on 2 out of 3 fine but I would like to find out what could possibly be the problem. The two towers are identically set up: same Intel865Perl mbs, same hardware - only difference is the OS.
I have unistalled and reinstalled, system restored a few times, and I give up.
    Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks everyone. Oh, boy, I have a lot to search out, huh? Well, the chipsets are the same. The OS's are different though. I tried the USB from the mb....nothing. I do have an add-in card from Adaptec which is a dual connect card....contains 3 USB ports and 2 firewire ports. Nice card, usually works fine. All my other USB devices such as Canon camera, Sony camera, all work fine from both places. But, it might not like the Zen. Not sure why Zen wouldn't be compatible with an Adaptec USB card but I do know that Windows XP with no service packs does NOT recognize 2.0. just .. And I do get a message that states that I am connect a high-speed device with a non-high speed USB port. If that's the problem, why does it say "Found New Hardware" in the first place? And it does show up in Device Manager when connected, but with the yellow markings. It's listed under "Other Devices", and if I remove it, reboot and reconnect, the same message comes up asking me to install the drivers again.
I could upgrade this PC but I don't think that is going to make any difference, except that it will recognize the 2.0 USB ports.
I'm going to keep trying until I get it right. Any other ideas short of giving up?

  • Zen micro not recognized....out of commiss

    hi everyone.
fi've hours later, i'm here begging for help.
i have the zen micro 5 mb and am running XP SP2.
i wanted to install the new firmware for the micro, seems easy enough....but when i plugged my player into my computer, it was not recognized. i see this has been a common problem, but nothing i've tried has been able to fix it. here's what i've done that have yielded no results:
. tried changing USB cables (3 different ones); made sure my USB 2. ports were working (they were); tried changing the cord among the 6 open USB ports i have
    2. tried updating drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling all software - both from the creative website and my CD, as well as through the device manager. i tried uninstalling with the control panel and with the CD - nothin!
    3. tried recovery mode, did everything i could in that mode...BUT, when I removed the firmware (i know it was a dopey thing to do), i can't reinstall cuz the computer doesn't recogize the player...so now the Micro is stuck in recovery mode (i can move around in the menu but I can't shut it down)
Any ideas? Is my micro dead?
    Thanks!
    roooo

I'm not sure... But what I will do by posting in this is bring this topic to the top so you get some help. But I did find a website today with help here: http://www.nomadness.net/modules.php...ad+Jukebox+Zen it should help your micro even though its a Jukebox FAQ.

The zen was recognized on my friends computer but neither of my desktop nor my laptop. I am totally clueless now.

  • ZEN Sleek Not Recogni

I've recieved a ZEN Sleek a litle less than a year ago and it was working perfectly until about a month ago, when my computer suddenly stopped recognizing the player. I've followed the directions in the FAQ section and I've only been able to have the ZEN player show up in the device manager, but it is still not recognized by Windows Media Player or the ZEN Media Explorer. I know there's no problem with the cord, since the player is can connect to other computers and can still be used as an external dri've on my computer. I'm stumped as to what I should do. Any suggestions?

Maybe this can help you! It solved my problem on my Jukebox Zen USB 2.0.
I read this in an old thread, the tip came from SSR:
Try running a disk cleanup on the player. To access the Rescue Mode hold down the play button and KEEP it held down, press the tiny reset switch once, and KEEP the play button held down until the player boots into the Rescue Mode. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.

  • Zen micro not recognized.. reform

so my zen micro is no longer recognized by my pc at home or at work..
i have firmware .0.03 installed from nomadworld and everythings been working fine for weeks. the player still works (music) but the removeable disk doesn't (not recognized by pc). is it worth it to go into rescue mode and reformat the whole thing? i don't want to lose all of my music (its backed up on my pc) and still not have my device be recognized
    yelp!

    Jess,
The PlayForSure firmware is intended to work with Windows XP platform. If you're going to work with other OS, I would suggest you to reload the firmware to the other firmware version .xx.xx. You can find this firmware from the download page too. Note that you need to perform this update process on your XP computer.

  • Zen Nano not recognized by AudiblePla

I bought a Zen Nano (not the Plus version) exclusi'vely to listen to Audible books. I installed the software that came with the CD on my Windows 98SE PC, including the Zen Nano version of AudibleManager. When I connect the Nano to a USB port, it is recognized by Windows Explorer as an external hard dri've. It is also recognized by Creative MediaSource Organizer and Creative Zen Nano Media Explorer. I am able to copy MP3 files to/from the Nano and listen to MP3s on the player.
However, AudibleManager insists the Nano is not connected. I have used Audible for years and had no trouble connecting with other portable players such as the Rio500 or two Pocket PC PDAs. When I installed the same version of AudibleManager from the Nano CD on my work laptop, which runs Windows XP, it immediately recognized the Zen Nano when I plugged it into a USB port. So, the problem seems to be related to Windows 98SE. I've installed the latest USB drivers from my motherboard manufacturer and have reinstalled Win98SE, the Zen Nano software, and AudibleManager. The result is the same -- AudibleManager does not see the Zen Nano.
I've been working with Audible support, but they finally threw up their hands and said that, based on the debug report I'd sent them, the Zen Nano is not returning the USB device ID to their application, so it cannot connect with the device under Windows 98SE. They seem to imply that the problem is with Creative rather than with Audible. The Zen Nano is advertised by both Audible and Creative as being AudibleReady. Creative advertises the Zen Nano as being supported under Windows 98SE. Audible advertises AudibleManager as being compatible with Windows9 8SE. Thus, it stands to reason that the Zen Nano should work with AudibleManager under Windows 98SE.
Has anyone else had success with AudibleManager connecting to a Zen Nano on a Windows 98SE system? If the answer is yes, then I'll keep trying to figure out why it's not working on my system. If the answer is no, then I'll expect Creative and Audible to work together to determine if the problem is with the Creative Nano USB driver, Nano firmware and/or Audible plug-in and then provide a fix for the problem. Since the Nano is recognized by Windows as an external dri've, I'm inclined to think it's a localized problem.

Thats the smae thing thats wrong with mine, except I have Windows XP
