Zen V Plus 4gb Power On/Detection Is

I bought a Zen V Plus 4gb player on Tuesday (December 3st, 2007) when my old Zen V gb died (and it was out of warranty).
I bought this out of familiarity with Creative V series players, and my experiances with them have been positi've so far.
However, when I first put music on the player (I had the software installed beforehand)...about 2.5 gigs into transferring the music, the computer stops recognizing that the Zen V Plus is there. When I checked the actual Zen V Plus, I noticed it was frozen so I pressed the reset button.
The player tried to rebuild the library, and it froze again after maybe 30% progress. I waited around ten minutes, I reset the player again, only to have it then freeze on the "Creative" start up screen, and after waiting another ten minutes (after a lifetime working with computers I have learned patience is a very valuable tool in troubleshooting) I hit the reset button again.
Now, the computer refuses to recognize anything other than the chipset on the player, (its a model number of SMTP3600). I have tried almost every fix here, yet still cant get my player to work.
In addition to the player not being detected, I have the problem of it refusing to turn on. When I hold down the power button to turn it on, the play/pause and back lights blink without the player turning on. I have tried charging it using other USB charging equipment (with the usb cord it came with), without effect. I have tried leaving my computer on for several hours to charge it, with no effect. The charging indicator doesn't even show up..because the screen doesn't work.
Does anyone have a solution to this before I exchange it and buy a different mp3 player?

If you have not already, try the recovery tool to see if it hel

  • Zen V PLus 4gb inoperative after Firmware upgr

I upgraded the Zen V Plus 4gb to Firmware version .32.0 for Windows Vista 32 bit. After powering down, the player will not power up. The screen remains dark and it is not recognized in Windows Explorer or in the ZEN V Series Media Explorer. Using the reset button and recovery tool has no effect. Holding play while powering up has no effect. Trying to power up or connecting to the computer illuninates the play/pause and options buttons solid blue. Battery status is 80-90% charged. In Device Manager it is displayed as Player Recovery Device Class. Player is approx. six weeks old. Does anyone have any suggestions that would help revi've this player ?

I have that same problem, even without upgrade firmware, with my brand new player.

  • Zen Stone Plus 4GB - Hiccups / Skipping with new firmware 1.01

I upgraded my recently purchased Zen Stone Plus 4GB to the new .0.05 firmware a few days ago. Ever since, most (if not all) tracks will play for ~ second, then skip back to the beginning and play fine thereafter. The problem will recur when the next track begins, either naturally on its own or if I jump tracks. I did not notice this problem with the prior firmware .0.03 (which had some EQ issues for me--EQ adjustments weren't audible while being performed, only after applied as a whole), but have not been able to downgrade back. More than once, I have tried reformatting (as FAT). I have reinstalled the .0.05 firmware (including in recovery mode). I have tried turning cue/review on and off. Nothing solves the hiccup / skipping?problem. Again, nothing will let me downgrade back to the older firmware, either. Has anyone else noticed this with the .0.05 firmware? I know several people have reported date bugs already (which I noticed too), so I'm hoping it's just Creative still getting firmware kinks ironed out. I'm a?little worried that it appears the player is no longer for sale anywhere, despite being a brand new "release." Most of my mp3's are a high quality variable bit rate, just in case that might be impacting something.

Hi JLM, am running .0.05e fine and in fact listening to it at the moment. Is there anyway you can regress back to .0.03 to test your theory? Testing a bunch of 28k CBR MP3s is an easy thing to try also.Message Edited by BlueRobin on 0-02-200802:49 PM

  • Zen Stone Plus 4GB - Automatic Shutdown - IT DOES NOT WORK

:Zen Stone Plus 4GB - Automatic Shutdown - IT DOES NOT WORKVHello!
I do possess this MP3 Player (with integrated speakers) for more than 2 years now and have never been using the Automatic Shutdown function of the player (in the menu settings). Yesterday, I went to bed, wanted to listen to some music and tried out this function the first time, but it did not work. I tried it with 5, 0 and 30 minutes. What am I doing wrong or is this setting just a joke?
I am using the current software/firmware and am not a newbie to technical instruments so I do know how to - theoretically - start this function by going to setting - Automatic Shutdown - scrolling to the minutes I want to have - Enter/Confirm with the middle ball-knob at the front of the player.
Maybe some of you might help me, I would highly appreciate that.
    Kind regards

  • Zen Stone Plus 4gb

I was at the Download Page and I found that there is a Zen Stone Plus 4gb isn't there. I was wondering if this is a error or a 4gb Zen Stone Plus is planned. It will definitely be something I might consider.

    Could someone confirm ?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
If you have windows XP or Vista go to Windows explorer. The stone plus should show up as removable dri've. Right click on it and click properties, it will show how much space there is left.
If there's still space left, you can always use Windows Media Player (WMP)?to rip your CDs into mp3s and put them on your player afterwards.
In WMP go to tools - options - rip music and change your settings to mp3. I think by default it will save your music in the My Documents/My music folder. So that's where you can find it back when it's done.
If you can't find the tools- options menu just click on rip in WMP and hope for the best. If all the setting are still on default it should work.
After it's done you can either drag and drop in windows explorer or if the creative software isn't giving you any further troubles you can use that to put the music on your player. Make sure to close WMP after?you've done ripping?or it will interfere with the creative software.
    Good luck,

  • Help! My Zen Stone Plus 4GB working problems!

My Zen Stone Plus 4GB worked fine a few minutes ago, but if I now turn it on, it'll freeze to Zen Stone Plus 4GB logo. I can't go to menu, use buttons or turn it off a normal way! Just if I press reset button, then it'll turn off. But it's same froze thing everytime I turn it on!
Second bad thing is, that my computer doesn't recognize the player anymore. It just turns it on, but it'll stay in the same logo.
I tried Creavite's support things, no help at all.
And Recovery Tool and Firmware didn't work, because they don't recognize it.
    Please, help

kindly format your player in windows xp and scan it with avast antivirus software....... update the firmware after formatting...

  • Zen V plus 4GB screen froz

My V Plus 4GB is frozen on the shutting down screen and it is not responding to any buttons. I have tried putting a pin in the small hole below the power up slider and it does nothing. Any ideas?Message Edited by amkjak on 09-30-20070:22 AM

The small hole on the top is the microphone, I would not recommend sticking in a pin in there as you could damage it. The reset is on the side of the player, try that one amkjak.

  • Zen V Plus - Media Explorer not detecti

Hi, I'm not sure if this has been posted somewhere along the lines. If it has sorry.
Anyway, my problem is I have my V plus attached to my PC I have it turned on and it says it's docked.
But my Media Explorer and other various Media Sync programs won't detect it.
It shows up in My Computer as a Portable Device but that doesn't really help me that much.
I can transfer files onto it the old fashioned way of dragging and dropping but i'd really like the convenience of the Media Explorer.
If anyone could provide me with a solution to this I would be quite greatful.Message Edited by Konis on 04-6-200702:24 PM

  • Zen Stone Plus 4GB - Problems with Sp

Hi, I have a new Zen Stone Plus Player.
According to the Creative Audio CD Ripper, I have . GB of free space left, and yet it tells me there is no space when I try to rip a CD.
Let me stress, that I have not put my music files etc. in the root directory, they are all in a sub directory called Music.
Within that subfolder, there are 27 further sub-folders, containing 57 mp3 files between them. Thus, the FAQ is of no help to me.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Zen V Plus 4GB - drag & drop probl

    Hi,
Just got myself the above item - which is great! :manhappy: . Except for one niggling problem - which is probably down to my stupidity, not the machine's.
When I try to drag & drop, copy-and-paste, etc, files (audio, video, and so on) to my Zen I always get the message - "The Device has either stopped refreshing or has been disconnected".
However, when I use the Creative Zen software to effecti've do the exactly the same thing - no problem, does it fine. I am a bit baffled by this anamoly. If anyone got any ideas/solutions for me that would be much appreciated.
    All the best,

  • Zen Stone Plus - waggling power/play/pause butt

    Hi,
got my new ZSP (white) today, very nice device.
But I noticed something and I am not sure if this is normal:
The power button on top of the player does not fit tight, but is waggling instead - when shaking the player you can hear it clapping.
If this behaviour is not normal (as i hope) I would send it back to the seller.
Thank you for your answers ;-)

Great! I suspect the computer is in?sleep mode when you leave it connected that's why it did not charge the player. Anyway, good to hear it's up and running.
