Can I use the uni'versal travel adapter that comes with the Zen Micro to charge the Zen V plus?

While I'm in this topic, I have a question. If I bought the uni'versal power adapter, can I play my Zen V while it is charging?

Zen Stone Plus Charg

Good day! I have a problem with my Creative Zen Stone Plus unit. The battery does not get a full charge and according to my Creative Media Lite, it's only 20% or so full. However, when I turn the player display on, it indicates that the charging is already complete (blinking blue LED and a plug sign instead of the lightning sign). In turning the product on, it reads that the player only has two bars? left and then turns to one bar after just 5 minutes of playback. This is crazy since I charge it as sson as the battery indicator reaches one bar. So obviously, it isn't charging. I've already installed the new firmware, resetting and formatting the player, and everything else that I could think of I've already tried them. Went through the messages in this site and all I can see are problems with their own players and no worthwhile solution from the Creative Tech team. I went on as much as to locally look for the service provider of Creative here in the Philippines but they all seem to know less than myself regarding the product.
A side question and comment is if it would be better for my battery to run until there's no more bars in the indicator left (not necessarily drain it) or charge as soon as it hits one bar. The crazy thing is, I'm presumming with the hassle that it is producing, most probably the battery is not in its optimum condition anymore due to the trials that I have been doing to resolve this problem. The crazy thing is that the service provider I've been mentioning also told me that I can charge the player even when it is on, now reading the messages and from my stock knowledge I realized that what she did was irresponsible and utterly detrimental for my battery. This is such a sad condition considering that Creative is just building its name and they seem to be unable to provide a good customer support base for their clients.

.. I had a similar issue with my new Zen Stone.... Following it's first charge (+3 hours), I used?the player?until the battery went 'flat' and it turned itself off... I tried to charge the player up several times?without success - Creative Media Lite continually reported the battery as having 7% charge - but this never improved... Prior to me taking it back to the store I bought it from, I did a 'reset' (paperclip hole on the top side)... Low and behold - the player started to charge up again....

Zen V Plus - Charging Prob

I've plugged my new Zen V Plus into my USB port, and the battery charging indicator has been flashing as expected. However, 9 hours later the battery indicator is only showing about a quarter charge. Any ideas?Thanks?Stompa?

You're right, I didn't have the driver. If it's not actually charging, then I'm a bit surprised that the battery indicator flashes (implying that it is charging).

Zen V Plus Charging Iss

I just bought a new mains charger for my zen v plus today because i was fed up of charging from my pc. But when i plug it in the little "charging" animation does not come up on my player and the battery does not increase, what shall i do?I have the latest firmware and everything

The mod is quite simple really. The USB charger only uses 2 of the 4 wires as +5v and 0v, the other 2 are the data lines D+ and D-. The Creative charger uses these data lines to make the player think it's connected to a PC hub - a standard charger doesn't. USB protocols (www.usb.org) state that a USB hub should have two resistors (between 5k and 22k) connected between each of the data lines and ground to provide a bias voltage that the host can read to determine data transfer speed. As long as the charger cable has all four wires available inside the cable then the mod is easy. Take the charger apart and solder a resistor between each of the data lines and a ground 0v point. The standard wiring colours for USB are black-0v, red-5v, green and white-D+ and D-. The resistors need to be soldered inbetween the?green wire and ground and between the white wire and ground, making sure that the wires aren't connected to anything else inside the charger. The player takes about 4 or 5 seconds to register that a charger is connected. Hope this helps,?Karl. ZEN NANO PLUS PLAYING QUEST

I just bought the GB Zen Nano Plus and I love it. But today something weird happened, it was playing through my songs as normal the at the end of a certain song when it went to the next track, this next track did not automatically start playing as it should, i saw the solid square icon meaning stop on the player, and to play the track i had to repress the play button then it played through fine, so i erased the track before the track that would not play thinking i would just reload it when i got home, but that didn't fix the problem so i also erased the actual track that would not play until i repressed the play button, finally after erasing a few more tracks in the sequence, it stopped happening, it was weird because everyother track just plays through one after another like it should, my play mode is on normal, each album that i have tracks from on my player is in a separate folder. i am going to reload the problem songs and see what happens, just thought it was weird
any thoughts?

My N200 plays all the way through until the end of the last folder. You must have a different Play Mode set.

Hi,My wife just bought me the Zen V Plus for Christmas. Problem is, I have an older home computer:? an AMD K6 processor (500 Mhz) and it runs Windows 98 SE. Will my new Zen V Plus work with this computer, or should I return the Zen to the store she bought it at. Thanks

Unfortunately-your computer does NOT meet the minimum requirements shown on the Creative Zen V Plus pages. You are going to find that most players in Creative's line need much faster processors and Windows XP to operate properly.

Zen Nano Plus Folder Quest

Hello,
I want to use my Zen Nano Plus to listen to books and to play music. I downloaded a book from my public library (way cool!) and put it in it's own folder. I downloaded a bunch of music and put all that in another folder. My problem is that I can't figure out how to listen to my book for awhile, then listen to music (ideally in shuffle mode) and then go back to the book and not have the book start over from the beginning. Any thoughts on this?

what audio format is the book from the library? Typcially, "books on MP3" are split into 0 minute sections. You can do this yourself with a variety of programs. Audible files, of course, will play on your Nano, but you have to buy these. Audible format creates an automatic bookmark where you stop play, which is exactly what you are looking for. You can either make small MP3 files (assuming your book is MP3) and remember which file you stopped on, or you can download books from Audible.com and it works automatically.

Zen Micro USB Charger quest

I have a Zen Micro 6gb. I also have a Belkin travel kit that I bought for my Sony PDA. The kit comes with a cable that connects to the PDA on one end and the USB on the other. It also came with a auto and home adapter. The adapters have a USB port so that the USB end of the cable plugs into the adapter and it becomes a charger.
My question is does anyone think this may work for my ZM. If I plug the USB cable from the ZM into the auto or home adapter, would it charge the ZM without damaging it.
As info the specs on the adapters are:

I just got this off Ebay. its only like $9. comes with the Zen stand, whcich looks pretty wack and the belt clip piece, also garbage. and I got 2 black zen baggies. All creative made. Took like 7 days to get to me in NY.
Its got a big ol connector for the wall but its all good. Taking it to my girl's house tonite to see how it does. If you want, Wait till I try it out tonight, Ill give you the update.

Hey that Zen charger that I showed from ebay is the **bleep**. Its like 3X faster than the computer usb charger. Both chargers are usb. It comes wit the dock plus stand + belt clip. its dirt cheap too. cant go wrong. peace.

Zen Micro Car charger quest

Will the official Creative Car Charger allow you to use the Zen Micro if the battery is completely dead? I bought a cheap usb car adapter and it doesn't seem to work correct at all. I am looking for a way to power the Zen Micro in the car if the battery is drained- I am assuming from Creative's product description you can use their adapter to power the Zen in the car if the battery is completely drained.
We really like the Zen micro but have had continous problems with the battery. I've updated firmware and have done everything recommended in the FAQ in regards to conserving the battery. My wife primarily uses the Zen in the car to replace her cd's. It is not used that often (maybe 2-3 hours a week) but seem to not hold a chage at all. The only way we have found to fully charge the unit is through the usb port on our computer. So basically we are looking for a way to power the Zen in the car regardless if the battery is charged.

I'm pretty sure if the battery is dead the Micro won't work even if plugged in. I remember trying to use a demo unit at a store and the battery was dead. They plugged it into its charger and it still wouldn't work. It said it was charging but the battery had to build up a charge before it would work.

Strange Zen V Plus charging prob

After working fine for 2 months, my player suddenly won't take a full charge: after 6 hours it has only enough power to produce a faint amber screen read out and play part of a song. Does this mean the battery is no longer charging? My computer still recognizes the player, and I can add media when it's plugged in.

it really depends on the kind of file you are converting.
i converted a wmv which was 50mb and it came out at about 60mb. then i converted an avi file (20 minutes one) which was 50mb and the converted file was 500mb! it also didnt convert it properly, there is a 5second sound delay which makes it unwatchable.

Charging Zen V Plus with travel char

My Zen V Plus charges fine through the USB charger. It will no longer charge on a regular AC (travel) charger which it used to. When I plug in the charger it turns the device on and does not charge. Any help out there. Again, this is new, did charge through charger. Thanks, Bob

This has been discussed a few times on here. If the charger you're using is not a Creative one or a 'modified' standard charger, the player will appear to charge but not actually take any power. The player will turn on and off like it's charging but nothing actually happens. Creative have added a few extra components inside their charger that the player tries to recognise when you connect. Depending on the firmware version you can mod a standard charger quite easily to work with the Zen V+. Do a search for charging problems and you'll see quite a few people have had the same problem.

What video formats does zen v plus use?

i use windows media player and i dont knwo which video format to convert my video to so i can sync it onto my player i have zen v plus i use windows media player i do know how to convert videos but i need to know which format.

Or is it possible that a particular set of charging voltages/currents must be present before the Zen V Plus charges? For example, a higher current than the 700ma and 000ma ratings of the two power adaptors I plugged it into?

Zen V Plus Wall Charger Quest

I was wondering if anybody knows if the wall charger that comes with my Motorola Razr V3M Cell Phone will work with the Zen V Plus. If the answer is no are any of the V Plus chargers sold on eBay any good. Thanks for any help.

Probably not. I have a Zen V and could not get my USB charger to work, though I can charge it with the computer's USB port. I am trying to figure out a way to make it work. There are only four wires on a USB connection. One is 5V and the other is ground. The other two being the data. I read somewhere that in order to charge Zen V, it has to "sense " the presence of the charger.
