adikai,
You might want to try uninstalling the MTP device entry in Device Manager and let your system redetect the player again. If this does not help, please get in touch with support for further assistance.

  • Zen Nano Plus transfer prob

Am having trouble transferring .wma files to my Zen Nano Plus even though it has 590MB free. When I try to transfer anything using Creative Source I keep getting a "transfer error" message. Have tried reorganising files into folders to cut down on memory used in the root folder - but it doesn't seem to help. It's even stopped letting me transfer between folders. Has anyone else had this problem.. Anyone know what to do??

I'm having the exact same problem with my Nano Plus, and I've only had it for a little over 3 months. I contacted technical support and they told me to download the Firmware update and gave me these directions:
    Zen Nano Plus Firmware Update:
    http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?Product=2720&dlcentric=9423&Product_ Name=ZEN+Nano+Plus&OSName=Windows+XP
To install this firmware upgrade, do the following:
    - Connect your player to your computer.
    - Double-click the firmware upgrade file.
    - When prompted to set your player in Recovery mode, disconnect your player from your computer.
    - Press and hold the Play button while connecting your player to your computer's USB port.
    - Continue to hold the Play button for about 0 seconds after connecting your player to your computer.
    - Release the Play button when the "Find New Hardware" dialog box appears on the computer screen.
    - Follow the instructions on the screen to install recovery drivers for your player.
    - Double-click the firmware upgrade file and follow the instructions on the screen. Ensure to select the "Format Data Area" option within the Update.
However, at step 6 my computer did not recognize my player with it being on and neither did the Firmware. I responded to Technical Support and told them this. They said it seemed like it needed repaired or replaced! Even though there is a -year warranty, there is only a 3 month labor warranty, which means if you send it in to get fixed and it has passed the 3-month labor warranty, you have to pay a $24.95 diagnostics and handling fee. If you're in this situation, they said the best thing to do is try to exchange it wherever you bought it first. I hope this helps!

  • ZEN 8 GB connectivity prob

Hey, I'm new to the forums here. I just got a new Creative mp3 player not too long ago ands its been great to use. Although one problem I did have with the previous ZEN V Plus I had and this one is that each time I goto plug my mp3 player into my PC and try to sync using WMP or Creai've Sync Manager it ends up disconnecting itself or ejecting, and then a few seconds later it reconnects. I've made sure that the cable I'm using has no broken wires or anything. I even tried using another cable too and it still happens.
Help would be apreciated so I can fix this and continue to sync my music without interuption while it disconnects again!

Well, instead of trying another PC, I pluged my mp3 player into one of the USB ports on my USB PCI card in the back. I can't goto school without my music so I thought I would try again and sync it, just not in the front USB ports. It hasn't cut out on me yet since I used the rear ports! As weird as that is it could be just that my PCI card is all that makes it work for some reason. The computers ports dont work but just the cards :S
I was also looking at another topic about a simular problem... well not too the same, but it had said something about power levels affecting the connection. Maybe it is that the power output on my PC's USB ports are lower that normal and.. well, thats as far as I figure.
So far I have sync'd more than 400 songs out of my 000 that I have without interuption!

  • Zen Nano Plus Connection Probl

(2)Zen Nano Pluses. Both using firmware .0.03. One Red, one Black (Click and Clack always want to know what color car they are diagnosing...)
    (2) Computers, both XP SP2 with all updates; one called Dad's, one called W's.
One Zen (for ID, the red one) has been used on Dad's computer without issues for about 3 weeks.
One Zen, new and color Black, works on Dad's computer, but not on W's computer. W's computer will not properly recognize either the new Nano (the black one) or mine (the Red one), in either Creative MEdia SOurce, or Zen Explorer, or Windows explorer.
First, I have read the FAQ's. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Nano software. When I use PB's check odd things appear:
    PB's check:
With your player connected and View, Devices by Connection selected in Device Manager navigate through as follows:
Advanced Config and Power Interface (ACPI) PC
    ->Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
    -->PCI Bus
You should then see a series of USB Host Controllers that you will have to click through in turn to find the one your player is connected to.
Underneath each controller should be a USB Hub, and then devices are listed beneath the hubs.
For my N200 I have USB Mass Storage Device, Creative MuVo N200 USB Device then Generic Volume.
Your entry should be similar but with Zen Nano Plus instead of N200.
While you're there, right-click on the entry for the hub attached to your player and select Properties. On the Power tab it will show how much current the port can supply and in the Attached Devices list it will show how much power the player needs. In my case the hub supplies 500mA and the player needs 00mA.
    PB
What appears on Dad's computer, with either Nano, is USB Enhanced Host Controler, USB Root Hub, Generic USB Hub, USB Mass Storage Device, Creative Zen Nano Plus USB Device, Generic Volume. Again, either Nano works on Dad's computer.
On W's computer, after just having reinstalled the new mass driver, it is USB2 Enhanced Host Controller, USB Root Hub, USB Mass Storage Device, Disk Dri've. On restart from that, it reads Creative Nano Plus USB Device, with no "volume" underneath it, and the oddball icon is not there. I think the oddball icon is associated with the "Disk Dri've". Once it read under Creative ZEn Nano Plus, "Unknown Device". Also, when I attach a Nano to W's computer, it first seems to see the Nano in the New Device Found message, THEN while it is still attached, it says in another New DEvice Found mesage that it has found a Disk Dri've. It also shows some oddball icon I can't decipher, right next to the "safely remove Hardware" icon. The oddball icon does not appear on Dad's computer.
    Any ideas?

    NEWS!!!
Actually, we have 3 Zen Nano Pluses. Two (the black and the red) have .0.03 firmware. I have never connected the black or the red to W's computer and have it connect properly. In fact, I had just tried (again) to connect the black, it failed, I re-booted. Then, I connected the blue, with the old firmware, and it CONNECTED. I could see it in WIndows explorer as dri've F:, which never happened with either the red or the black with .0.03 firmware.
    So, now what?

  • Zen Nano Plus connection problems - SOLVED (1/2/06)

I recently bought the Nano Plus. On first installation everything worked fine. I decided to upgrade to the latest drivers and firmware via downloads from the Creative site. At some point during the firmware upgrade, everything seemed to hang. Eventually I had to halt the process, disconnect the player and reboot.
When I plugged the player back in, it is detected as a USB Mass Storage Device, but Windows Explorer and the Zen Nano Plus Media Explorer both claim that the device is not connected.
Here's what I have done so far:
)Uninstalled all drivers and Creative software, rebooted, reinstalled drivers/software, rebooted. When plugging the player in, a brief window pops up saying Zen Nano Plus has been detected. This is followed by USB Mass Storage Device being detected (this window stays up a lot longer, sometimes more than 5-0 minutes before disappearing).
2)Another uninstall/reinstall, but this time with a registry cleanup in between. Same result.
3)Tried installing installation cd on partner's laptop and plugging in the player. Absolutely everything works fine. So it's not my player. There must be something I still need to do on my desktop to get everything to work again.
4)Have also tried plugging into every USB outlet on the desktop. No change.
    My system:
    Windows XP (sp 2)
    3.2 GHz
    Intel 865 chipset
    2 GB RAM
My Zen Nano Plus is currently running .0.03 firmware (latest).
On this desktop I am running the latest drivers (Creative Mass Storage Drivers .07.00.250)
When the player is plugged in, device manager shows no problems. Under Disk Dri'ves, Creative Zen Nano Plus USB Device is listed (and says the driver is from Microsoft, 7//0, version 5..2535.0). Under USB, USB Mass Storage Device is listed (and says the driver is from Microsoft, 7//0, version 5..2600.0).
I have tried manually updating these drivers to anything listed in the Creative folders upon installation, but it does not detect anything. When I check the drivers listed on the laptop that works with the player, these same driver details show up.
Any advice would be appreciated. I certainly would hate to only use my partner's laptop every time I want to update my music. I am also frustrated and puzzled as to why my player first worked on my desktop and now doesn't.Message Edited by lcvdw on 0-03-2006 2: AMMessage Edited by lcvdw on 0-03-2006 2:2 AM

  • Zen Nano Plus - Connection Problems and Firmware Upgrade probl

Like many others posting on this forum, for a while I had problems trying to get my GB Zen Nano Plus to be recognized by the .0.03 Firmware Update software.
I eventually got it by doing this:
While the Firmware Update software was "Searching" for a device, I kept on unplugging and plugging in the Zen Nano Plus from the USB cable while holding down the Play button, unti it "caught". I tried this since I noticed it would initially see the unit saying "A device has been detected in recovery mode...", but then throw the unit into "non-recovery" mode and hence force the Firmware Update software to keep on searching.
Anyhoo, after it did finally "catch" it (after about 0 times unplugging/plugging while holding the Play button down), it showed my firmware as .03.02, and so I did the upgrade to .0.03. The upgrade said "Complete". I then take the unit off of USB, and put my battery back in. and. uhm. well. Now it won't turn on at all. *sigh*
So there I go again in the "unplug-plug" loop on trying to get the older .03.02. Finally caught after about 30 times (yes my hands are tired). And after downgrading to .03.02, putting the battery back in, the unit turns on fine.. WHEW.
So, beware to everyone. Not sure if I'd trust the .0.03 Firmware. Doesnt seem to work on my Zen Nano Plus, and I JUST bought the thing from Circuit City about a week ago.
And for those of you having problems getting the Firmware Upgrade to work.. try my (tiring) method.
I tried this on my Dell D600 laptop (actually used the USB ports on the docking station).

  • Zen V Plus - Charging Prob

I've plugged my new Zen V Plus into my USB port, and the battery charging indicator has been flashing as expected. However, 9 hours later the battery indicator is only showing about a quarter charge. Any ideas? Thanks?Stompa?

You're right, I didn't have the driver. If it's not actually charging, then I'm a bit surprised that the battery indicator flashes (implying that it is charging).

  • ZEN V Plus sync prob

    Hi all
I have just got a Zen V Plus (8gb) MP3 player. I have installed the relevant software (Creative Media Source 5, ZenCast Organizer, Zen Media Explorer). I am running Windows Vista 32Bit. ?
It is doing everything that I would expect it to, except that it will not sychronize correctly. I can get files onto my MP3 player, but as I use my player mainly for podcasts, it would be extremely helpful if it would sync - both adding new files automatically and deleting old podcasts.
Everything seems to work well, but I get "transfer errors" on all files, and the only details it will provide are "general error". Is there anything I can do to allow the sync manager to work?
    Thanks,
    Ed?

  • Zen Micro Car Connection Prob

Okay so i bought a cable for my Zen Micro 5gb Black, that is RCA audio to headphone jack. I have a pioneer headunit (aftermarket) which has the RCA audio jacks on the back. My problem is that when i plug this in and play my zm, it plays no matter what else is happening, with whatever else is on, like a cd and my zm or the radio and my zm. Plus i cant control volume through my headunit, only through the zm volume control. Anyone know of any simple and hopefully free ways to fix this? I dont have an aux. in, just the red and white RCA audio jacks. Id really like to be able to just have the zm play, and i control the volume and such through the head unit.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rug

The car stereo does have a "source" button which i use to switch back and forth from radio to cd and such. However, it doesnt find the RCA audio connection as a source, which is very strange. I took out the cd, and plugged the ZM into the RCA connection, and hit source and nothing happened. The other problem is i already have XM satillite radio with a rf modulator hooked up into the headunit so i cant use another modulator. The only soulution i can think of is to get some kinda RCA audio a-b switch and plug both the zm and the sattilite radio into its modulator. I dont know if anyone makes something like that though...thoughts?

  • Zen Micro Media Connection Prob

I have a zen micro, I just updated the firmware so nothing is currently on my Zen. I went to import music to my zen with the Zen Micro Media Explorer, and it says my device is not connected. Now, my computer recognizes the device because it shows up as connected under my computer and I can import music that way, but its much easier and faster if I was able to use the Media Explorer and that is not working. Any suggestion? Thanks

Did you also update to a newer version of the Media Explorer?

  • Zen V Plus Driver Prob

Hi Guys, i've bought a MP3 Player and everything fine, good player, nice aspect.
Ive installed the sotware, restarted the computer and when i connect the usb to the player it cant install me the driver. It gives a error in MTP dri've saying:
A error has occured during the instalation of the device
The specified service doesnt exist as an installed service.
So i have the driver installed but it simply doesnt work and my computer doesnt detect my player.
What can i do to fix this? Anyone whith the same problem?
I Have Windows XP SP2 Installed

The MTP devices require several Microsoft windows system services to function.
Its possible that one of those services?didn't install or was possibly disabled.
Used to have a list of the dependencies from the Microsoft MTP developers kit, will have to see if I can dig it up. I know it has some dependencies on the "Windows User Mode Driver Framework" service in windows. Have seen some OEM distributions of XP that by default have the service set to disabled or manual instead of being set to automatic.
Users who have problems with Windows media player 0/ not seeing an MTp device generally should?check under windows services to see the service is installed.
And you can also check to see if the service is running by looking for Wdfmgr.exe in the windows process list. Based on your description of your problem, and how uninstalling it and reinstalling it fixed the problem.
Sounds like it is possible that the service wasn't installed and functioning.
This service is most likely the most important component that gets installed as part of Windows media player 0 to allow support of MTP hardware devices.Message Edited by gmandual on 0-3-200704:38 PM

  • Zen V Plus Display Prob

    Hi
Recently i bought a Zen VP, unfortunetly after 3 days of use, the screen started to display two horizontal lines of black pixels, so i returned it to store. It was sent to repair under warranty.
Three weeks have passed since then, and about two days ago i went to store to collect it. They have sent me a new player, and everything seemed be working fine! But, today a vertical black line appeared in the left side of the screen. My question is. Is this normal in the Creative players? And does anyone else has this kind of problem?
    Thank you.

It is not normal, you should leave your player for repair again, use your guarantee as many times as you need, I think you have been a little bit unlucky but they are great players!

  • Zen V Plus Pixel Prob

Do anybody know, if a dark line of pixel can be easily?fixed. You know, I li've in Greece and it is too difficult for me to send it abroad. It a line of one pixel width and its lenght is across the screen. Please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For a hardware problem (which that sounds like), there is nothing I could advise other than sending it off for a repair/replacement. If you only just purchased it, the store may be able to assist. Otherwise you'd have to contact Customer Support for assistance.

You're right, I didn't have the driver. If it's not actually charging, then I'm a bit surprised that the battery indicator flashes (implying that it is charging).
