Zen V Plus Display Doesn't Update Total Number of Fi

Hi everyone.
I have the Zen V Plus 4 GB unit, and I'm using Vista Home Premium.
I've encountered a problem I haven't been able to solve.
I loaded ,036 audio files onto the unit, using the Media Explorer.
That worked fine.
I then disconnected the Zen V Plus from my computer, and listened to it for a few minutes.
Then, I hooked it back up and added 55 more tracks to it.
Here's the problem: The display should say of ,09 but it still says of ,036.
The 55 new tracks are definitely loaded on the unit.
Shouldn't the number on the display have increased when I added more files?
Here's what I did after noticing the display didn't change:
I went to the Creative web site and downloaded the MP3 Player Recovery Tool, which basically just updates the firmware.
The firmware on the unit is now .5.03_0.05.09.
Next, I formatted the Zen, hoping the firmware would resolve the issue.
This time, I added only 00 tracks, then tried adding another 00.
Media Explorer said there were 200 tracks on the unit, but the display showed only 00.
So, my next step was to format and start all over again, using the Sync Manager.
The same problem, again.
Bottom line: Although I can incrementally add music files to the Zen, the display doesn't update.
Is this a known problem? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to overcome it's
(I mean, excluding formatting my computer and reinstalling Vista and the Creative software, which might be my next step.)
Thank you! J. Danniel

Thanks for the reply.
I have a tagging program, but I neglected to mention is exclusi'vely use WMA format. That doesn't matter.
There are no duplicate files, because I check that before uploading to the unit.
I've figured out a few ways to solve this problem, though. One way is to create a playlist. The Zen displays the correct file count this way.
Another way is to select files via album, artist, or genre, and THEN go back to All Tracks.

  • Terminal display doesn't update

I upgraded from 10.6.6 to 10.6.7 last weekend. Since then, Terminal.app doesn't work correctly: I can enter commands, but the window display doesn't update until I click it, so I can't see what I'm typing.
For example, I launch Terminal and a window opens. It is blank. I click it, and my command prompt appears. I enter ls -l, but I don't see what I've typed until I click the window again. I press Enter, but nothing happens until I click the window again ... then the directory list appears.
While writing this note, I also noticed that if I move to another application, the Terminal window also updates at that point. It just doesn't update in real time as I'm running commands.
Has anyone else seen this? And more importantly can anyone suggest a solution?
UPDATE: I just moved my com.apple.Terminal.plist preferences file to the desktop and launched Terminal again ... no problems. Then I replaced the preferences file and launched again ... still no problems. ??? Anyway, it's working for me now, but I'll go ahead and leave this note in case it helps someone else.

  • Zen V plus - display. I'm despera

I'm begging for help. I got a zen v plus, about?two months ago. I loved it, it almost seemed too good to be true,?but just several weeks after I got it, the display just died. First it was incredibly hard to see, and there were strange lines across it, the colors were messed up, etc. I could only see bits and pieces of it if the room I was in was pitch black. It still played fine, so I put up with it for about a week. Eventually, There was literally no visibility whatsoever, and?I could get nothing to work. I've tried resetting it, I've tried charging it, nothing. I'm out of ideas.
I'm not exchanging any more. I have had a?zen micro, which froze and would not turn on,?two zen vision: M's, the first of which the screen messed up, with every other line of pixels visible, the second of which kept freezing, and sounded like it had a loose part inside, and eventually stopped turning on.
No creative product of mine has lasted more than several months. If?I cant get this working, and there's nothing I can do to fix it, I think?I'm giving up on creative ?. I'm really dissappointed. For the first few weeks of having the zen V plus, I thought that it was great, and unlike both the zen micro and the zen vision: M, I had no initial problems, so I was really hopeful for this one. Alas, rather suddenly, and unexpectedly, this happened. I tried searching online to see if others had a similar problem, and it seemed like it wasn't uncommon. However, I could find no solutions. If there is anything I can do, I would be?extremely thankful if someone would help me. Or maybe some things just are too good to be true? Well, thanks. ~A Concerned User

Heh, well at least I'm not alone. Thanks for the explanation daytona, though?I can't say it was the response?I was hoping for :smileysurprised: . From what I've seen, it seems to have that clause in the warrenty because all of their products break, inevitably.
It's a way to have less people returning their items, saving them more money. It's also possible that countries don't accept the warranty from other countries, as valid, but less likely, as creative is really only one branch, and it is an international business. Though, the most likely is, the stupid american salespeople can't read japanese, and don't want people just putting some charactors on a sheet and calling it a warranty... back on topic. I really love the creative products, theyre amazing, save the fact that they seem to be horribly manufactured. They have great capabilities, great features, and are all around just... great. But in my opinion it's not worth it to have to replace it every two weeks. I guess it is too good to be true.
In fact I just got a new computer, and I could really use the portable flash dri've capability of one of the zens'... What daytona said makes sense, and is basically what I expected. I didn't come here with high hopes of fixing it. But I'll li've. I gotta say, I used to show off my creative [insert product(s)?here] to all my friends, and show them all the features and cool stuff that ipods don't have. Looks like that's changing, I don't want to, and can't really show off and?reccommend a product that breaks profusely. Well, this is actually rather awkward, being on the creative board and all...
At least now I know the problem. Still, if anyone has anything that helped them with their self destructing device, feel free to tell me/us. I hope your second V turns out okay daytona!? Keep us posted (pun very intended).
?Edit: The only slightly strange thing is though, the screen, after the lines and everything, just sort of faded away. It got darker and darker over a period of about a week and a half, until there was nothing left visible, and I don't mean the backlight, I mean the resolution, everything, it was essentially a black screen. Just feels like that doesn't fit.Message Edited by Seventhpenguin on 03-06-200706:56 PM

  • Zen V Plus Display Window Sym

hello board, My husband surprised me with a new Zen V Plus to listen to audio books. Everything seems to be working ok but all of a sudden there is a new "symbol" in the upper right hand corner of the display window that looks like two circular arrows with a next to them. Can anyone tell me what this is What did I do to make it appear How can I make it go away Thanks to all DJ

I don't have the Zen V Plus but the sign pretty much seems like 'Repeat Track' or something.
What you can do is to go to click the Menu button then go to 'Play Mode' and select 'Normal'. That should solve your problem.

  • Zen V Plus Display Prob

    Hi
Recently i bought a Zen VP, unfortunetly after 3 days of use, the screen started to display two horizontal lines of black pixels, so i returned it to store. It was sent to repair under warranty.
Three weeks have passed since then, and about two days ago i went to store to collect it. They have sent me a new player, and everything seemed be working fine! But, today a vertical black line appeared in the left side of the screen. My question is. Is this normal in the Creative players? And does anyone else has this kind of problem?
    Thank you.

It is not normal, you should leave your player for repair again, use your guarantee as many times as you need, I think you have been a little bit unlucky but they are great players!

  • Zen V Plus display problem

Everything was greate... Yesterday I listen music on my Zen. Now when i turn on player display is so dark - just like 0% or 20% contrast but in preferecies value of contrast is 00%. I can listen music without any problems, but to saw something on display is really hard.
What should i do? I have my player just 9 months...

There does seem to be a common failure mode with the ZVP display going dark - there are quite a lot of posts on this forum about it.
Just to make sure it is faulty - when you switch on, if the 'Creative' start up screen is also dark - it is almost certainly faulty.
If the start up screen is about 80% brightness, and then the display goes dark, the settings are probably screwed up somehow.
If it's faulty there is nothing you can do - try customer services. The phone number is in the Support directory on the CD that shipped with the player.
    Sorry it's not good news...

  • Zen V Plus Display Is

my display all of the sudden bacame very dim and red colored i tried reinstalling the firmware but no luck any help would be appreciated

If the Creative start-up screen (when you switch on) is dim & discoloured, it is probably a hardware fault with the display.

  • Subvi display doesn't update while it's open

I have a USB data acquisition application, I would like to put all the graphs on a subvi front panel.  When a user clicks on "Graph" button on Main Vi, the subvi should open and keep updating while it's open.  But I cannot get the subvi to update when it's open.  Attached is a program I wrote to simulate the problem I have.  The second loop in the main VI won't execute as along as the subVi is open, therefore the new data is not dequeued.  Can someone please take a look at my code and see how I can fix this problem? Thanks.

Here's a very primitive example that shows the main idea. Remember, you don't need to poll the queue. Just wait for the next element (forever!). The loop will stop once the queue is destroyed.

  • Zen Nano Plus display color messed up and dust under scr

When i turn on my player sometimes there are like black stripes across the display, they eventually fade and go away. Sometimes they are in differnent spots. Also onc ein awhile there is a rainbow-like look to it. I just got this player -2 weeks ago, so im not sure whats wrong. Also there are some dust under the screen, not sure how to clean it's

    no one knows?

  • If your Zen nano plus is d

If your Pc doesn't recognize your Zen nano Plus after a firmware update and the player doesn't turn on, try to connect to the USB port WITHOUT the battery in your MP3 Player.
Install the Mass Storage Driver and reflash the device.
    For me it has worked.

A new firmware was released over the weakend that is supposed to solve problems of the player turning off or not turning on with protected WMA music.
One other point. When I first got my n200(basically the same as the Nano Plus), I didn't realize that I needed to hold the power button down for several seconds to get it to turn on or to turn it off.

  • Zen V Plus firmw

I plan on purchasing a Zen V Plus soon. I've read that quite a few people have had problems with the device out of the box. Some of them solved it by doing a firmware update. So to be on the safe side, I'll do a firmware update when I get the thing. But the latest firmware update was on Jan 2007. Would recent Zen V Plus players have this update out of the box?
Also I have USB .0. I shouldn't have any problems right?
    thanks.

I got mine about a month ago from Amazon.com and no, it did not have the latest firmware. The good news is that updating the firmware is quite painless.
I've used it on an old laptop with USB and it works just fine.
It is a little disappointing that, as you've noted, there has been no firmware update since January. I'm still hopeful that they will one day fix the bug that causes an audio track to reset to the beginning if power off happens when the player is paused. Someone else said in another thread, and unfortunately they're probably correct, that its just not worth their trouble to bother fixing it. Frustrating.

  • Zen Nano Plus Co

    Hi Support,
My Zen Nano Plus, the wordings and the serial number came off, how do i go about to change the cover? The rest of the Mp3 is working perfectly fine.
I called the technical helpdesk, they told me i need to change the whole player, i was so shocked.
    Please advise further.

Changing the covers on the player may involve you actually breaking the player. I wouldn't recommend it as it also isn't screwed together, so you'd find it difficult to put it back together, if you didn't break anything taking it off.
My serial number has also wiped off, inc. all the writing on the back of the player. As long as you've got the serial number written down (it's also on the packaging as well if you still got that).
But as customer support said, to change the cover you'd need to buy a new player.

  • Use Windows PowerShell to count and list total number of items in Folders E-Mail in Office Outlook?

I have the need to generate a list of all outlook folders and the total number of items listed beside each folder name. I thought I could simply modify the script from " http://blogs.technet.com/b/heyscriptingguy/archive/2009/01/26/how-do-i-use-windows-powershell-to-work-with-junk-e-mail-in-office-outlook.aspx

    named 'olFolder'.

I've found a way to export a list of all these folders using exportoutlookfolders.vbs to a txt file but doesn't include total number of items.
Looking for any pointers on how to make this work. Don't expect anyone to write it for me but I am still learning PS. Would be great to find a way to import all of these folder and subfolder names into the script. Will be appreciative of any advice though.

Since I am not and administrator, but an end user, I do not have access to the Get-Mailxxxx commandlets to make this really easy and had to do this long hand.
The following will pull folder.name, folder.items.count, and sum the total size of each folder's items for all folders and their subs.
Just one warning, the summation can take some time with a large PST file since it needs to read every email in the PST.
There is also some minor formatting added to make the results a little more readable.

  • Windows doesn't detect Zen V Plus he

I've just purchased the Creative Zen V Plus 4gb for my girlfriend but windows doesn't want to detect it, I have followed the?online suggestions with no?luck. It shows in my device manager but with an exclamation mark next to it, I've tried re-installing the driver with?no luck. I've tried this with media player 0 and just updated to series but am still having the same problem. I think all I need is a driver for this player but the software that came with it is not helping me! I have a ipod which I use on the same usb port and that works fine so why doesn't the Zen work!?
Your help would be very much appreciated.

Did you try to connect your device to Windows Media Player , under "Sync" Did you download and install all latest drivers and software (see below) ZEN V Plus and then Windows Vista 32-bit. http://us.creative.com/support/downl...ype=0&x=27&y=3
