Zen V Plus firmware need a lot of improvements...
I'm waiting for new firmware 3 months...
If nobody from Creative team don't have time to work on this firmware i propuse to make it open source, or put source files on the website. I think that many people want to make this firmware better.
If you don't have to to do it please allow to make it by somebody other!

  • Creative Labs Zen Micro installation drivers need

This must be the only mp3 player that requires installation on every computer you want to download music files on to. Major pain in the ass, IMO. But if anyone would be so kind as to send me the installation drivers, I would be extremely grateful. I lost the original installation CD and don't want to purchase another one through the Creative site, which I think is really stupid too. That should be free. Other than that minor issue, I love my Micro!!

    klsassi,
As OSUScooby mention, all the driver/application you need to sync with the player can be downloaded via the download section within the website. Also, it's definitely not the only player on earth that require driver/software to work with.

  • Faulty Zen Vision:m - advice needed ple

I only have my zvm about 2 weeks or so with only about 6gb of music loaded on to it and it seems to have malfunctioned.
Yesterday, I selected an album to play, and the zvm hung. Screen was normal blue screen, with "now playing" at the top but no other info listed. There was no music heard thru the headphones, no noise from the hdd and I couldn't turn it off. It stayed like that for about an hour.
I reset the device and went to recovery mode - there was a loud, regular sound from the hard dri've, sounds like the "tock" from a clock. I selected clean up - it went to "scan disk" and I left it like that for about 2-3 hours. Nothing seemed to happen, so I turned it off and left it over night.
Now when I turn it on, it goes straight to recovery mode, the sound is still there. I tried "clean up" again, and left the device for about an hour or so, but again no further progress with it. I've tried reboot a number of times but it goes straight back to recovery mode.
I just tried "reformat" and got a message "hard-disk problem" and it went back to the recovery mode menu. I also tried to "reload firmware" but got the same message and result.
Has anyone any advice for me? Or should I contact creative tech support tomorrow morning? Has anyone experienced this or similar problems?

Yea, I'm pretty sure Creative uses refurbished harddri'ves from the 990's in there players because I don't trust them (actually I just don't trust HD players =P) anyway let this be a lesson to you, get on the flash bandwagon!
As to your problem lots of people (this is an actual thread) have been banging there players on hard surfaces with a moderate force to try to kick start the player. There are various reasons but for one or another your HD got stuck. You can try it if you want, your clearly under warrenty so this might make the player useable until you get an RMA (NOTE this isn't a fix, its more like taking painkillers, won't make the problem go away, just help the pain for a while)
Also don't bang it so hard that there is any visible damage to the outside of the player, because the last thing you want to do is void your warrenty. I know it's frustrating but when banging keep your inner Hulk at bay =P.

It seems to happen at random. I have already tried reinstalling the firmware, and it did nothing to help the problem.

  • Mass Storage Drivers to save Zen Nano Plus...[HALLELUJAH SOLVEDDDD!

Okay, my Zen Nano Plus was working fine until about two days ago, when it just started shutting off. The battery was full, and I switched batteries three times, but it still wouldn't stay on. I looked through the forums, and there was advice to update the firmware. [I had ..0] I downloaded it [.3.03], and ran it, but then it said that it couldn't find the hardware for the software [or the software for teh hardware?] and I didn't know what to do, but the computer [or whatever] decided to disconnect the Nano from the comp, so there was no firmware on the player at all. And now it won't turn on.
So I looked on the forums for THAT, and it was advised to download the Mass Storage Drivers, so I did. Only I don't know if I'm supposed to double click the icon and execute the program before I do the whole "push play before connecting the player to yor computer and continue holding play for ten seconds" thing, but I did, and I don't know if I was supposed to do, and somebody please help meh because I love my Zen and if he dies I am going to die as well. And be really bored during my classes.
Also, I am running on Windows ME.Message Edited by rubyandrest on 0-29-200708:4 PM

Dude...i have been a loyal customer of creative for years....i just updated my firmware on my nano plus and my zen shut down....no reset...nothing. i sent an email and i recieved a generic email about paying for contact help. they have lost a loyal customer and i am telling all of my friends to never buy a creative product. mine was fine and then i saw a firmware upgrade and thought, "wow, this would be great". then after installing it is useless. no help from creative at all. i have always had soundblaster cards and creative speaker systems so i figured id get their mp3 player...now i will never patronize their company again. go get an ipod. i am on payday! they will probably delete this post and deny me access to the site after this, but i am a marketing management major and this is a big No No for companies that wish to stay around. Creative will be gone in a few years if this is the service they offer.

  • PLEASE HELP - On vacation - need to reload Zen V Plus w/o access to original softwa

Zen V Plus froze. We were able to get it working again via online instructions for re-formatting. Now all the music and videos originally loaded are gone and we'd like to help our cousin get SOMETHING put back on her MP3 before heading home on another long trip! We have a USB cable that will connect her player to our Macbook Pro. Does anyone know how to download the software for a one-time use? We tried anything obvious online, but didn't get anywhere. Message says, "No updates available."
    PLEASE HELP!!!

  • Need help with using Zen V Plus in a

I have a Zen V plus 2GB and I'd like to use it in my car with a FM transmitter/charger combination. The one I bought says it works with Creative zen MP3 players, but will not charge the player even though it has a USB with 5 VDC as output. It does play the player through the FM reciever just fine. I also noticed that I can only charge the player through the very same USB port on my computer where I first connected it when I was setting it up. Any other of the USB ports will not charge the player. Does this have something to do with this problem?

    Hello al9spike,
    Welcome to Creative forums!
I'm not sure when you said "reset and play while plugged in" is the same as resetting the device by inserting a paper clip in the reset hole while plugged in. If not, then you can try this. There is a also a similar thread here with the same problem your experiencing right now. Maybe this could help you. Otherwise, if the unit is still not turning on, I suggest you contact support for further assistance.
    Best of luck,

  • Zen V Plus - EXTERMELY URGENT help needed on battery charg

    Hi,
I just bought a Zen V Plus 2 days ago. When I charged it for the first time for 6 hours (as instructed in the manual book), it was fine (fully charged in 6 hours). But when I played it, the battery life lasted for only about 7 hours listenning to mp3s (which is lower than it is supposed to be). Then I was told that a Creative Uni'versal Power Adapter will get the V Plus charged faster, and so I bought it. BUT HOW COME I HAVE BEEN CHARGING THE V PLUS USING THE WALL ADAPTER FOR 0 HOURS AND IT IS STILL NOT FULLY CHARGED YET??Please help me, how much longer do I have to wait for my V plus to fully charged? Does my player charging condition above means that my player is faulty? Please advise ideally how long should I charge the player if I use the USB, and if I use the wall adapter, to keep my battery long-lasting?Thank you.

The wall adapter that I bought is the Creative Uni'versal Power Adapter for the Zen Micro (which I believe should also works for Zen V Plus). As I couldn't any longer after that 0 hours, I unplugged it. When later at night, I connect it to my computer, and it showed being fully charged for a few minutes, then flashes back to being in charge. (Is this normal?)?I used the player to listen to an album (about hour 20 minutes) and the battery indicator showed that it used up /5 of the battery life (which I think the battery life is too short). Hopefully someone can advise me what should I do to improve my battery performance?

  • Zen V Plus Help Ple

I've had a stone for a while and decided to upgrade to the Zen V plus after finding a good deal on amazon, Anyway for the first week or so it worked perfectley (although it wouldn't play via the USB on my car stereo like the stone did) the other day it decides to freeze up and now is displaying "Firmware problem" I tried downloading the restore programme off of the support section of the site but its now saying its not connecting to the pc (pc says its not connected and mp3 screen just shows the error message instead of saying docked) so the restore programme only displays "mp3 player not connected" Help please

First, charge your player overnight to make sure it has a full charge. Remove?ALL Creative software from your computer?and roll back the Windows Media Player to 0. Then re-add your software and plug in your player. That is the easy way to get your player to work. Hope this method hel
    ps.
If it doesn't, then I suggest you do a search at the top of page and see all the different things people have done to get their players to work. If that doesn't help, contact support by e-mail.

Have tried to download drivers and software for Zen Micro. When I try to run it though, it does not install because it says that I do not have device connected. Have erased everything off of Zen Micro, but have not reformatted. When I attach Zen Micro to PC, Zen Micro displays "booted" & PC displays "Zen Micro" for a second or two, then switches to "MTP Device"?. Do I need to erase everything from the Zen Nano Plus first?2. What do you think my next step should be?Thx???

  • Zen V Plus won't cha

My Zen V Plus battery won't charge. When I connect it with the USB cable to the computer to charge I get a message in Windows saying "USB Device Not Recongnize". Then when I look at my player the battery symbol cycles between showing the charging symbol and a depleted battery symbol (red with one bar). So what can I do anything to fix this or is my battery toast? I've had this for less than a year.

It should charge without needing any drivers. It would be using the power connectors on the USB port for charging.
    Drivers are at?

  • Zen V Plus under Windows 2

?Somebody bought me a new Zen V Plus, but unfortunately I'm using Windows 2000. Windows XP doesn't have enough new features to interest me and I'm concerned more about stability anyway, so I probably won't upgrade my OS for a few more years. In the meantime, I'd like to use the Zen in some way. Even if I can't load all the supporting utility software from the accompanying CD, there should be some way for me to be able to just copy files from my hard disk to the Zen's file system and play them. That in itself would be a quantum leap over having no MP3 player at all.
However, the V Plus does not look like a little hard disk to Windows, so I can't use Explorer to copy the files. As far as I have been able to learn, the V Plus uses flash memory and Media Transfer Protocol (MTP), which is supported in Windows Media Player 0 (which is only supported under Windows XP).
HOWEVER ... Microsoft recently released a Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit -- see http://msdn.microsoft.com/windowsmed...s/default.aspx -- to add MTP support to WMP 9, the last one that worked under Windows 2000. But it's not easy to set up. After installing it and reading the Readme-Redist.txt file, you run MTP9x-2k.exe, which installs the following files:? - %windir%/System32/drivers
    ?? - wpdusb9x.sys (Windows 98SE or Windows ME)
    ???OR wpdusb.sys (Windows 2000)
    ? - %windir%/System32
    ?? - mtpiusb.dll
    ?? - mtpsmgr.exe
    ?? - mtpistb.dll
    ?? - mtpsp.dll
    ? - %windir%/Inf
?? - wpdmtp.inf? But then you have to edit a .inf file to describe the attributes of your player. This is beyond my technical ability.
Am I right to think that I can get basic MP3 player use from the V Plus just by installing the MTP Porting Kit, or do I really need to upgrade to Windows XP?<
If the Porting Kit will work, can anybody help me write a .inf file that will be correct for the V Plus?<
    Thanks for your help!

I really wish I could help you but I am in the same situation about this driver. I dont know whether to cry or eat my own mp3 player :[, cause in order to use it'sI?even bought an external har dri've to install xp and then realised is not even possible. So?I guess the solution?are:?to create a backup of your important documents and install windows xp,borrow a friends computer?or resell your mp3 player because you can not even charge it whithout the drivers intalled. But I wont give up :]Message Edited by elenka on 0-9-200703:33 PM

  • ZEN V PLUS ISNT RECOGNIZ

Media Source or Media Explorer says its not connected when it is. I tried almost everything, here a few symtoms
    - I dont have a MTP category under device manager
    - MP3 is only half way charged (could that be the reason?)
    - I have USB .
    - Windows recognizes it when i connected it to the USB, then says I need to instal the hardware. When I let it auto scan to find the driver it cant find it. Where is it specifically on the CD so i can point to it's
    - Zen V Plus is listed under Device Manager as Other Devices with a "!". When i right click it it says "This device is not configured correctly. (Code )
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver."
Plz HELP ME! Im getting so frustrated that if I cant fix it tonight Im going to return itMessage Edited by xxmithuxx on 02--200709:50 AM

Try putting the cd in, go back to device manager, and click reinstall driver? I'm not sure. Also, do you have Service pack or 2 installed? One of these service packs is required, and WMP0 has the driver actually needed for the Zen to be recognized. So if you have , try rolling back to 0, then going back. Go to www.microsoft.com and search for Problems with Zen Devices. Should find relati've info.
